EDIT: Well I managed to get clockworkmod installed and everything; still having some issues with aspects of it, but in general I'm good. I'll probably make a dedicated thread to the device; if anyone wants to suggest a proper forum section, be my guest.
Ok, so I need some assistance on installing CWM or another recovery mode on my YourPad P4. I've already rooted and installed ROM Manager, but it could not find a compatible CWM version.
Now, first off I have also been unable to get an exact or better identification of this tablet other than it being sold as a "YourPad P4" and that it's model is MID; so I might also need help getting more details to better assist the finding of a compatible or working recovery.
Here is some information about it...
* Site purchased from/detail page:
http://www.yourstoreonline.net/yourpad_p4_new_android_40/id2040716/product.html
Don't worry, I got it for ~$100 (with the 1GB RAM upgrade), not the displayed price on the site!
* About tablet page info:
Model number: MID
Android version: 4.0.3
Kernel version: 3.0.8
[email protected] #2
Build number: 20120807-A721
Also, before I start messing with it I was going to make a nandroid backup to share for others...does nandroid backup firmware as well? I've never needed to restore a backup so I have no idea what goes into it and can't find a quick answer. I'd like to make a backup of a clean as possible system to share for anyone wanting it. Although I'm surprised that its not been mentioned on xda, I'd expect this tablet to have at least been asked about once considering it was mentioned on woot.
Thanks to anyone for any help, and I apologize if this should be in a different section. If so, could a mod please move it before any fuss is made.
And now, I'm off to bed (so I won't be responding/checking this for a few hours).
Not to sure about the rules for thread bumping, but I just wanna make sure this gets seen soon (as I'll be very busy and it will be hard to work on it next week and the the days that follow).
Also I thought it was worth mentioning now that only really mentions of this tablet I can find are in posts by me, ahahahahaha
EDIT: Oh, and I havn't verified I even have a recovery partition yet as I can't cat /proc/mtd
it's been about a week now and no response; I even posted it over here http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...cs-need-help-recovery-install-yourpad-p4.html
so bumping, if anyone at the very least knows some mystical other worldly site that somehow manages the chance of providing me an answer over the ever amazing xda; please post

Thanks alot for this, I'll definitely read it over a few times before attempting. Hopefully this will work out. Thread is still open for any other input, so anyone else coming here that can provide any additional help go ahead and post.
Well I still have been unable to get a recovery option going. I tried the link mentioned by AJ88 and it didn't work for me. Essentially the link boiled down to 2 simple adb commands and a custom recovery.img. First step was to "adb push recovery.img /data/", but I ran into a permission denied issue and could not figure out a way around it (didn't want to mess with chmod, but I did run the "fix permissions" script in the clockworkmod rom manager. So instead I just pushed the recovery.img to my sdcard. Next step was "adb shell "cat /data/recovery.img > /dev/block/nandg; sync""; so instead I went "adb shell" then su to make sure I didn't get any more issues, then just "cat /sdcard/recovery.img > /dev/block/nandg; sync". Rebooted and tried all combinations of key pressings to access recovery with no luck (even tried via adb). So any ideas on my next course of action?
youtPad P4 issues
Dear EarthBoundX5,
Please do not feel alone in what I might be perceiving as "buyer's remorse" as I also own this device and have begun to have issues with it functionality. Initially I was attracted to this device for what seemed a myriad of available functions and abilities, however I'm really starting to believe the old saying, "you get what you pay for".
My main issue at this point is when using the free Kindle app, after selecting my book, the screen goes completely blank and does NOT come back with the reading material I've selected. If I touch the back button, I get a brief flash of the screen showing the page that I'm on in the book, but after that nothing. I've tried rebooting the machine, currently trying a fresh install of the Kindle app, we'll see how that goes TODAY.
I also have another off-brand tablet, iBridge, which was purchased during the frustration period of waiting for YourStore . com to get their act together and send me the YourPad. Funniest part about it though is that the iBridge comes with a booklet thats 4x the size of the poorly written "booklet" that the YourPad people put out.
I'm sorry that I don't have a solution for your problem as I'm a complete newb with the tablet world, but wanted to at least touch base with you to let you know "you are not alone. I am here with you...." LOL
Found you with a google search for online help regarding YourPad, and it brought me to you, and this seems like the most helpful place I might have found in reference to oddball tablet issues. Take care, have a good day. and I'll check back in to notify regarding Kindle reinstall.
Well I've been waiting for a reply to either of my threads with no luck, so today I figured I'd just try again the method of manually setting up a recovery, and this time I just decided to try and hold every button I could while powering and and BAM RECOVERY MODE *****ES!!!!!! So guess either I must've just screwed up last time or something. Anyways, I'll edit the OP to reflect all this later...maybe start a dedicated thread with any quirks I figure out down the line using this tablet; and of course post my nandroid backup. When I setup my 2nd YourPad, I'll make sure to make backups of any files I may have had to change (ie, nandg, etc). The question is, what section would such a thread belong?

I don't feel any buyer's remorse...yet at least, haha. If I end up having the same issues as you, maybe I'll change my mind; but I really don't see much wrong yet with this tablet. I mean, obviously its cheap and all, but for the poor man its fantastic. But ya, I HATE the YourStore, they took FOREVER to ship out the tablets. Anyways, for people like you, it really makes me thing I should take point on this tablet and start a dedicated thread.
Hey every1
Well been using android phones for a few years now but finally decided to treat myself to a tablet and aimed high with the tablet z So far very happy with my new tablet. But with all android devices the root and recovery bug has struck, problem is compared to my phones its another manufacturer with different ways of rooting and different system menus etc so im a little lost :/
So heres my questions
* "Doomlord easy root" seems to be the one stop shop for rooting but I was wondering how do you unroot? Do I just use seus to factory reset and that resets root?
*I currently use a 32GB wifi (SGP312 GB/B) model 10.1.c.0.370 firmware , but is there a central hub like sammobile for firmware downloads? Or is a copy of my current firmware required to have in case of emergency or will SEUS correct most problems???
* I also see CWM available for the tablet z but my understanding is to get CWM u have to unlock bootloader but this loses the bravia engine, is this correct? or what else do I lose?
* Does the tablet Z have any button combinations for stock recovery etc and if so what is the currently know button combinations and what service menus do they access?
thanks for any answers you guys can help me with, as its my 1st tablet and a new brand that ive not used before I just don't wanna jump before ive got my facts together
I'm new to rooting myself and I don't know how you might unroot the device, but with my SO-03E .269 rooted I installed SuperSU and the 'disable Superuser' appears to function properly as a temporary unroot. Maybe that'll help you?
I think the Fastboot key combo is power and volume-up.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2287881
very informative for beginners. after you read that ask again here in your thread if there still are any questions
K found the button combo info but still looking for the rest, the link was helpful but really only got me the basic info I already knew about its the particular answers im looking for.
Hi,
can I help me with my 7-inch tablet Miia.
The tablet starts at power, but remaining Blocked on Android screen and does not proceed further. I tried to go into recovery to perform a hard reset, but once you're with the volume buttons do not allow me to make no choice and no other key permits. I checked the inside of the tablet and everything seems ok, the welds of the keys are fine.
I read about flash rom etc etc, but on the net I find only a lot of info and no solution optimal.
Trying then I found your forum and I see it very reliable, so I decided to enter in your community.
I would like to know if there is a way to restore the tablet from PC ... also wanting ... or with the rom or another ...
Thanks first to who will read my question and who decides to help me out .
Sorry for my english.
Bye !!!!
Hi,
This is my first post, let me just say that I have dug around all over this site looking for a comprehensive guide for a retard like me to follow, and there isn't one, computer related forums usually assume everyone knows what they are doing, but all I want to do is root my stupid tablet!
So let's start from the top.
My tablet is an sgp512 32gb UK android 4.4.4 firmware (latest)
From what I've gathered I need to do the following:
Roll back the firmware to a rootable version - no idea how to do that, can't work it out from the titbits of info left scattered around the place. I'd like a step by step guide to do this. Ie where to find the firmware files, where to put them, how to install them, tools needed etc.
Roll back android to 4.2, again as above, no idea how to do this, can't find an idiot proof guide anywhere.
Run easy root. Now this I managed! But surprise surprise, it didn't do jack. It stopped at "creating vm" and that's as far as I got. Because I'm not running some old firm/software.
It was about this time that I thought about driving over to Sony's HQ and shoving my tablet up some greedy CEO's trouser leg and battering both my tablet and his leg to bits. It infuriates me that I paid them for a device that they lock access to under their own rules.
I have an LG g2, and to root that was simple, why does Sony have to be such ballbags, because by the looks of it people have still managed to root their z2 tablets, so why make it awkward for the rest of us?
Anyway rant over. Suck my plums Sony!
So if anyone would like to help me out, I'd appreciate it gladly.
Thanks.

Hi, Thanks for your reply, glad you have tried to help me get to the root of my problem (badum-tish!)
So, what am I trying here?
As always it doesn't go into any detail. So let's go through some steps.
Step one: have z2 tablet
Step two:???
Well, it seems that we are no further along than my first post.
I'm genuinely eager to get my tablet rooted, but I need someone who has done this to write the full process step by step, not just paste a link to fragmented parts of the process.
I tried to download that ftf file from mega and it seems that the name mega should be changed to rubbish. Several attempts and it failed. Anyway....
As we go along this thread I'll compile it into steps like below each time we get to the next step. So far we have achieved step one.
Step one: have z2 tablet
Step two...
If you can please help this idiot out I'd be so grateful, and I'm sure there are other people out there that would be grateful too!
Thanks
On the first side in the general section:

Much easier it cannot get...
I did a quick search of the forums and even contacted Sony because someone told me they could help and I believed them.
Anyway I parted ways with Verizon after a disagreement but got to keep my Xperia Ztab 2 I bought from them. I rooted and debloated it but when I attempted to install a custom ROM and realized I'd picked the wrong one it was too late and the tablet soft bricked.
This is my first time dealing with a failed root and soft-bricked device. I've dealt with root and flashing and installing recoveries but this is my first experience with a soft brick.
I was wondering if anyone could point me toward a resolution. The device can only be interacted with through the hardware buttons and there is no user interface. When it turns on it vibrates incessantly and there's an LED light. I was told it was recoverable but I don't know how to do it. I know I need a compatible stock or rooted ROM but I don't know which steps to take.
Can someone help me find the proper ROM and give me a list of steps I should take (or reference me to one)?
Thanks guys.
Basically I just want to get the stock back so I can begin the rooting process again. Does it have to be Verizon at this point or with it the way it is can the international ROM work?
If anyone has ideas or could help I'd appreciate it.
Use flashtool to flash an ftf file to it. Use xperifrm to download the files to create one. Just Google for guides for both of those pieces of software. Hold down the volume down button and when the guide tells you to connect it you plug it in with the button still held down.
