Unlock Screen Issue - LG G8X ThinQ Questions & Answers

So I have a LG ThinQ 8 that belongs to a friend. They said they reset it trying to fix some freezing issue. When it came back up he set up a finger print then decided to try a pattern. He can't get the pattern to work. If it asks for his fingerprint he enters it and its fine but it immediately takes him to the pattern. Is this a LG pattern addon or something he has downloaded? I can't even power off the phone without the pattern. Any good suggestions on fixing this?

LG G5 Stuck at secure start-up boot

Hi All,
I restarted my LG G5 phone and It got to the "enter PIN" @ Secure start-up (after LG Logo ) and the PIN I've always used was invalid. I'm pretty sure I never changed my PIN, but I've used 15 of 30 guesses trying any number that I might have changed it to, and none work. I usually unlock my phone with my finger print, but that isn't possible because this isn't the standard unlock screen, it's the screen before the phone even fully boots up. It's not connected to the internet yet so I can't reset it via Google and there's no "forgot PIN" option.
I don't recall installing or updating new applications recently
Can you help please ?
Thanks,
Rami

I doubt it but you rooted and twrp backed up? If not your pretty much screwed far as your data on phone. Going to have to factory reset it. I've tried all google tricks in book with that problem, but nothing worked.

Try just one space, or just a '0'. If it doesn't work, one way I've found of getting the network ON when in "secure boot" mode is by doing an emergency call (Dial 112 or 911) and then hanging up. It should enable the network and data connection, but it won't be traceable trough "Find my device". Just to let you know, you CANNOT reset the PIN with your Google Account. It is an extremely flawed function that never worked except for pattern lock. It will let you enter a new PIN or password, but will just tell you that it can't reset it since there is already a password/PIN set.

Excuse me, but how did your situation end, could the secure start-up jump, or did you lose your data?

Fingerprint cannot unlock oreo 8.0

I have a problem with my May update Oreo install on a Xiaomi MIA1. I did a clean install of the OS and installed all apps and data back to the phone.
I have set up the fingerprint scanner and pattern. I now find that every time I unlock with the fingerprint scanner, The first press wakes the screen and shows the lock screen. The second fingerprint scan brings up a screen with the pattern and the words "Pattern Required After Device Restarts." as if I have just rebooted the phone. Although I have not rebooted the phone.
I know that I get asked to add my pattern (or PIN if that is set) the first unlock after reboot. It is like Android continually thinks I have just rebooted the phone when I have not.
I have noticed if I delete all lock functions, then reset the Pattern or Pin and the fingerprint, fingerprint does unlock the phone on the first few attempts and then goes back to not locking it without changing any settings.
I set up a new user, set up the fingerprint and pattern and the fingerprint also worked for a few times, then stopped working.
I do not have a third party launcher or lock screen loaded.
The fingerprint unlock was working fine before I clean installed and I think was initially working for a day or so after install.
I am aware that you must enter your pattern or PIN on rebooot... This is not what I am talking about.
Under Settings > Security and Location > Device Admin Apps only Find My Device and Outlook Device Policy is listed. Both apps are unticked.
I have no third party launcher or locking app loaded.
Can someone offer some guidance on how to fix this issue? Surely I am not the only person who has seen this issue. All other searches on the net refer to 3rd party launchers and that is not the issue I have.
Well it seems I am the only person on the web that has ever had this issue. I did a full hard reset and the issue is gone.

No it's just that oem is not very popular here and those that do develop for them would never add their finger prints to it.

Wrong pattern even if it's good

Hi, I have a problem, this morning trying to unlock the phone (HTC desire 820) I received information that the pattern was incorrect. The formula is 100% correct. Finally, after a few phobe resets, the pattern came in and I have access to the phone, but now to turn this pattern off I have to provide it again in Security options, but it does not work again. What to do to get rid of this pattern? I have access to the phone and have to wake up every 15th time so that the pattern lock does not turn on again. I do not have ROOT. Please help

Face unlock requies slide to unlock even if checked unlock automatically

Please help, my Huawei requies after succesfull face recognition unlock still slide to unlock with finger, even if I checked in system settings Direct unlock feature under security option. Week ago everything was OK, now direct unlock not working. Any ideas? Thank You!!!
It does that when the face unlock and fingerprint unlock conflict with each other. It happens to me sometimes.
Just try not to use both at the same time by accident. I set my face unlock to only unlock when I'm looking irectly at it.
Thank You, bazanime, disabling fingerprint unlock solved my problem. But it is still strange to me, untill now (few days ago) both unlocking methods worked together...
Thanx again for help

You're welcome, Happy to help. Though I wouldn't turn off fingerprint unlock because it still good, just in case your face is not recognised. Just use the face mostly.

Try the following solutions to resolve the issue:
go to your Settings > Reset > Reset all settings . This will reset all settings, no data or documents will be deleted. Reboot your phone into recovery mode (press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons simultaneously ) and use it to delete cache partitions (select Wipe cache partition) . Finally select Reboot system now.
Good Luck
Try turning off do not distrurb
It only does that to me when I lift my phone and it doesn't initially unlock with my face, so I mash my thumb onto the screen only to get blinded by the icon showing around the edges of my thumb putting out more lumens than Tsar Bomba, which triggers an epilectic fit of apoplectic rage during which I smash the phone repeatedly into my face and attempt to put either of my thumbs *through* my phone over and over again. That's the only time I see that.
This was hapening to me too !
My mate 20 pro always worked with facial recognition every time but recently worked intermittently, I tried all the usual reset and wipe cache partition, then I thought that the only thing I had changed recently was that smart lock and trusted place was on as I noticed that away from home facial recognition would work but at home it would say 'smart lock recognition successful slide to unlock' even though the phone was set to direct unlock - changed it, now problem it solved so maybe check this.
Update 9.1 solve this issue .. now it is much faster
I already updated to 9.1 but problem still existed, smart lock and turn off trusted place was definitely my problem.
The earlier mentioned "smart lock at trusted place" will ruin the face unlock.
NOTE: Even if the smart lock is OFF, it will interfere if you have some location saved and you are trying to use the face unlock in there. So you need to delete the "trusted place" from the smart location.
Simply turning off Bluetooth worked for me

Help with redmi note 7

I just rooted my Redmi note 7 using the same method for Redmi note 7. After booting everything went well, i started setting up everything but after I setup screen lock I went on to set a fingerprint as well but the scanner didn't respond so i decided to let it go for the time being. After my device's screen turned off, I tried to unlock it again but the pattern was incorrect even though I'm 100% sure I entered the correct pattern. Instead of factory resetting it I removed the lockscreen.db and other files from root/data/system and there no longer was any lock. So I tried to setup screen lock again and same thing happened, fingerprint didn't respond and the phone didn't recognise my pattern again so I reset it using the same previous method. Then I tried pin password and the same issue, phone keeps saying incorrect. All in short, I'm not able to setup any screen lock, the phone fails to recognise even the correct password and the fingerprint scanner isn't letting me register my fingerprint. However, without any screenlock, when I touch the fingerprint scanner with any of my fingers, the screen turns on so that does mean that the scanner is working but it's not letting me register any fingerprint. help!!
