Motorola-Lenovo Support: "the phone cannot be unlocked" - Moto Z Questions & Answers

"We don't know the reason for sure, but it's possible that unlock data block has gone missing, is corrupt, or has not been programmed into the device."
Hi, I have a Moto Z (XT 1650-03) in mint condition, but according to its IMEI or 3 support channels I enquired it can't be unlocked. :-(
Is there any possibility to re-format/-write these blocks and liberate this device?
Thanks in advance

[Q] Unlock Motorolla Atrix 4Gafter max number of unsuccessful attempts

Hello Support,
I am in very bad situation.i bought Motorola Atrix MB860 4G from US via eBay and then I took it to India and when i use local sim card it asked me network unlock code. By mistake i gave more thn 10 times wrong code and now this phone is totally locked and not accepting correct code.
Please help me to unlock it,it very important and urgent for me.
I requested the unlock code from AT&T and they provided me the 8 digit code.
But meanwhile i tried some random unlock codes and because of that my mobile device is now not accepting correct unlock code that is provided by service provider.
I understand from AT&T that i exceed the limit for entering the correct code,So it seems hardware locked and can not reset the max number unsuccessful attempts only hardware manufacture can help me to reset that counter or unlock it for any other service provider.
I come to know from the internet that this is happening with many other mobile users who tried to connect to any other service providers and now their mobiles are now useless as devices are fully locked and not even access original service.
Hope i will get any positive reply else this device will be useless and i loose very important stuff from device.

What changes on phone when SIM unlocked ?

Hi Forum. May be my first post. I just SIM unlocked LG V10 on T-Mobile. Here is what I can say about the process that might be helpful to others:
1-Phones can be SIM locked by manufacturers so that service providers ensure that phones can only be used on their network or certain countries. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIM_lock for more information.
2-The process of unlocking requires the service provider to request unlock codes from the manufacturer. The service provider may have requirements to unlock ( e.g. in my case I had to put $100 balance on T-Mobile prepaid card ). This process took 5 working days at which time T-Mobile emailed me to inform me that they were ready for me to initiate unlock on my device.
3-On my device, I ran a "Device Unlock" app which connected with somebody ( T-Mobile ? ) and verified my phone was actually unlock eligible and viola. I'm SIM unlocked.
What I would like to know is what has changed on my phone ( e.g. firmware, some information on some partition ) ? Does this mean I can now root, change ROMs and my phone will remain SIM unlocked ? Any links to information about what actually happens when device unlocked would be appreciated.

What I can tell you is that, if you did unlock permanent it is going to be unlocked even after rooting and installing new roms etc.
Now, I want to ask in this forum if the phone can be unlocked if the t-mobile unlock app says it is not eligible to unlock. I bought my phone on eBay, called t-mobile the phone is clean, but they could not unlock it for me because needs an account... So now I'm stuck trying to find a 3rd party unlock website to do it, 2 already said they could not... So I have the phone but can't use it. Any suggestions?
Yes, I can confirm that on this LG V10 having performed a SIM unlock and then having switched ROMs the unlock remained in effect.

SIM Network Unlock Pin? 255 retries? - is it IMEI locked? LG developer site is ok

Hello guys, I have a strange thing. I have brought a new LG G5 phone and flashed the Team win and Cyanagon and successfully (it seems) and unlocked the bootloader via the official LG site, but on boot the phone asks for a SIM network unlock pin but it will not accept any codes and says 255 retires?! even got codes from CellUnlocker.net and it wont accept that. Still 255 retries? Any ideas?
It's a netlock. Please contact your provider. Here in Germany you must be waiting 24 months or pay a couple of Euros to the provider.

trouble is it doesn't seem to accept any code, I do not know what network the phone was on previously
I wonder if it has been IMEI blocked? is there a way to check. I wonder if it is something in unlocking the bootloader that has gone wring as is saying I have 255 retries and your only supposed to have 10?
I really have to do that X Times per weak. Why do You Post here? Reported...

^ as I think it may be an issue with flashing the ROM as oppose to the standard SIM lock!
Note LG boot loader unlocked, through offical website, Team Win successfully flashed and running - but Network unlock is 255 retries not the standard 10 - and I have the code, and still not work?
am fairly experienced, but this seems like a bug ?
either that or the phone is imei blocked but I have registered with it successfully with LG as a developer no problem

Call your provider where you bought the phone. Only the network provider has the code for the netlock.

Lg g5 | h850 bootloader unlock solution!

Hi All!
I'm Asking if someone have a solution for my problem.
i need to unlock lg g5 booloader but i have a problem with developer site (developer.lge.com)
i can't acces because login's down .... there a other way to unlock please.????
You have to get the .bin file from them after providing personal info, IMEI and Device ID. No other way.
Did you try to login again later? I suppose it might have been a server problem on their side.
I requested mine and it went swimmingly.

Moto G Power 2020 (XT2041-7) Verizon Re-flash to RETUS (XT2041-4)

Hello Everyone,
I have a questions about Flashing the Verizon XT2041-7 Moto G Power with a Retail version (XT2041-4).
The problem: Verizon claims the phone is "unlocked", but the phone is currently still "Subsidy Locked", and I am unable to use the phone on the ATT network. I contacted Motorola, and they can see that the phone is still subsidy locked, and I need Verizon to provide the Subsidy Unlock Code. Of course, Verizon refused.
Now I am stuck with a phone that I seem that I cannot use on the ATT network.
I have been doing a lot of reading about flashing images, and the potential consequences of the hardware being different (i.e. different frequencies etc).
My questions are this:
1) Is it true that I will not be able to use the phone on the ATT network unless the subsidy unlock is completed?
2) If I flash the RETUS image for XT2041-4 onto this Verizon phone, will it then start working on the ATT network with my H2O sim card, and my problem solved? i.e. is the hardware identical between the XT2041-4 and the XT2041-7?
3) I have tried flashing following the instructions on this forum, but get a variety of "preflash validation failed" and "not allowed on locked devices" messages. I assume the bootloader must be unlocked (i.e. through the code provided by Motorola on their bootloader unlock page). If I unlock the bootloader, will these problems be solved - will the XT2041-4 image flash, and work properly, or does this open another can of worms?
4) H2O wireless refuses to support me because the phone shows up (based on the IMEI) as XT2041-7, and is not on the ATT supported list, but XT2041-4 is on the list. If I manage to successfully flash the XT2041-4 image onto this phone, will I be able to get support from H2O to get the phone working, i.e. how do they see that the phone is no longer XT2041-7, and thus unsupported on the ATT list? Will they somehow see that the phone is now XT2041-4?
Any additional advice, solicited or unsolicited is welcome.
Thanks for your help.
