Help rooting BE2028 - OnePlus Nord N10 5G Questions & Answers

I have the T-Mobile (not Metro) Nord N10. It has been carrier unlocked and I have unlocked the bootloader. I just updated to Android 11.
I have rooted a few phones in the past, but it's been a while.
The way I understand it, I can either flash TWRP and flash Magisk that way, or i can install Magisk and flash a patched boot image.
The second way seems to be challenging, though, because I can't find the stock image for BE2028 in order to patch it.
Is my understanding of the process right? Does anybody know where I can get the stock BE2028 image?
Thanks!

This will work with the new Android 11 update? And for the BE2028?

It's the stock T-Mobile Android 11 Rom that was just released

You could just boot TWRP and flash Magisk

Did everything work out for you? I'm kind of surprised it took so much teeth pulling to get to a be2028 root guide.lol I haven't done anything to mine yet. I'll probably go ahead with my boot loader unlock. Thanks.

Same here... I have a BE2028 can you pls tell us if it worked? I got the token and everything rdy to unlock the bootloader

[Q] Need help understanding.

Ok Iv noticed that things are getting really really confusing around here with people saying one thing then someone else saying something else. I want to have a thread that is straight forward coming from people that know what they are talking about and not just assuming.
Now my phone has never had an unlocked bootloader. Before I updated to GB OTA i was on .83 rooted with all the mods added to it (webtop dock, blah, blah blah) I RSD back to .26 (that very old file) and just started doing OTA updates one by one once i logged in with my blurr account. I updated to GB via the official OTA update that was pushed to my phone when i selected to system update under settings.
I was able to Root this ATT OFFICIAL version pushed to my phone using This Pre-install method and that is all that i have done.
What i want to do now is Unlock the bootloader. From what i have read Pudding is the best way of doing this.
Q1: Does this method (Pudding) work with the Official ATT OTA version pushed to phones and not Kenns modded version, and is it the only way to unlock the bootloader?
Q2: Once unlocked what version of CWR do I install to be able to flash ROMs? Would i be able to just install ROM Manager and do the installation from there, Or possibly both ROM Manager and CWR?
Q3: Since RSD is out of the picture for me, if for some reason I'm to soft brick my phone and can still get into Recovery mode, what .sbf do i flash, would it have to be the same one that was pushed to phones that if not already available on here will be really soon?
Thanks for all the help if anyone helps out.

Q2, if you unlock your phone, cwM of tenfars, the 2nd version for unlocked. Rom manager with official CWM have released before some days, but yet it doesn't support external sd.
As for question 1, and the unlocking pudding. The OTA gb you installed, might updated you bootloader, and maybe can't use that pudding.
For that be very carefull of your next steps.. Personally I would have send a pm to the2dcour, or another dev that knows as much..
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Bump to see if any other responses come.
Q1: Does this method (Pudding) work with the Official ATT OTA version pushed to phones and not Kenns modded version, and is it the only way to unlock the bootloader?
Yes, pudding works and is the only way. Have to Flash pudding and run OEM unlock command in fastboot. Because you are already on OTA, there's a high chance you will need an extra couple steps. It will likely soft brick with 0x1000 error but wit fastboot option. From there you need to fastboot and re do the oem unlock command another time. Then you are fine.
Q2: Once unlocked what version of CWR do I install to be able to flash ROMs? Would i be able to just install ROM Manager and do the installation from there, Or possibly both ROM Manager and CWR?
Tenfar's 6/30 unlocked CWM. ROM Manager version doesn't properly wipe as of yet. You can update if you dont' care about wiping, but that usually leads to boot loops when installing roms. Also most devs here are using update scripts tailored for tenfars version

if you softbrick (other than the initial unlock soft brick where you just run oem unlock again) then depends on what you want to get to. CWM a rom.zip/fruitcake for the version you want would be ideal. If not then a fastboot version if available. I'd RSD the GB 4.5 with pudding sbf as a last resort.

If you use the pudding you will hard brick on the OTA (from what people have been saying)

Out of the picture becuase you cant unlock I think

Unlocking bootloader and custom recovery questions

I have a few questions on unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom recovery. I switched over from the nexus s and things are a little different then what I am used to.
I have already rooted the phone but I was looking at unlocking the bootloader and installing the CWM Recovery to flash over the Alien Rom. My question is if I decide to go back to stock will flashing the 4.5.1A SBF file through RSD Lite return everything back to stock including the recovery. And to lock the bootloader would just be a process of flashing nopudding4u.sbf and runnning moto-fastboot oem lock? If not what is else needed?
This might be a stupid question but I have looked around for a stock recovery file and couldn't find one.

There was an update yesterday the 25th in the pudding thread found here with a file that will lock the bootloader for you. I don't know it has been tested yet but it is only the bootloader not the recovery it could potentially bork something according to the OP but the sbf will fix it. So long story short you are correct welcome to the photon I left from the nexus as well and this phone is just fantastic!

Perfect, thank you for answering my questions. I agree, I absolutely love this phone and the download speeds are way faster then my nexus s. Do you think with google purchasing motorola they will release an update with an unlocked bootloader?

[Q] Afraid to Unlock Atrix 4G

Hey all,
I'm fairly new to unlocking/rooting (I'm from the simple iPhone jailbreak world).
I have my Atrix 4G rooted with no issues and ClockworkMod installed... that was the easy part it seems.
Where I am struggling is to figure out IF I can unlock my Atrix 4G and if it is safe to do.
I am running Android 2.3.6 on the Bell network. I see a bunch on unlocks for bootloader 2.3.4 and am confisued if that bootloader version has any relation to the android version? How can I figure out what bootloader I have? Would it also be 2.3.6?
If it is indeed 2.3.6, is it possible to unlock, I see no specific unlocks for that version.
Thanks,
You cant install a different recovery with out being unlocked. so if you can boot into CWM then your phone is already unlocked.
Where did you get the phone? was it new?
Its possible if its used that it was already unlocked and someone RSD back to stock for sale purpose, if its new and you havent unlocked yet then you dont have CWM installed.

Sorry should have been a little more clear, I have installed ROM Manager and choose the CWM install, but I cannot boot into it, I get a boot error 2 (I think). Sorry phone is at home now so I can't recall exact error will post later.
I got phone 6 month ago, was used phone. I am fairly certain its not unlocked because I cannot boot with CWM, hence cannot install custom ROM.
Thanks for the reply.

You don't need to be unlocked to have CWM on your Atrix. I had it on at least 1.83 if not the original stock firmware. I know it was possible with only root on 1.83 because that was what I was running up until a month ago and I had CWM on it with a locked bootloader.

Right, my phone is rooted so I have CWM, just can't boot it. My understanding is because I need to unlock, but I don't know how to unlock because I don't know how to figure out what bootloader I have.

dur im pretty sure that unlocking the boot loader allows unsigned code to run at boot, I could be wrong but I think you two are out to lunch on installing CWM with just root.
That or you can install it but you cant run it because the boot loader wont allow something with out motorolas signature to execute. making the point of if it is or is not, installed, a moot one. Aside from the fact you no longer have any sort of a functional recovery mode.
There is a LOT of info on how to unlock the bootloader and its not exactly hidden. I dont know if its even still done with RSD but that would be a place to start as that is how I did mine in sept of last year.

Yes I see what your saying, but I am saying that I cannot run CWM. I can only install onto my SD card. But the boot in recovery does not work (ie it will not run CWM). I'll post the error little later tonight when I try at it again.
I realize there is lots of info on unlocking bootloader and I am not concerned about doing the unlock, once I find a way to verify my bootloader version. Ive seen a few posts warning that bootloader must be v 2.3.4 or you can brick the phone.
So I guess ultimately my question is, how can I figure out my bootloader version? Have not seem this answers after some googling.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
Read that and your version will be in settings and then about phone. although I do believe that 234 and 236 unlock via the same method.
If you are going to install Custom roms CM7/9/10 or a blur based then you dont need to even worry about root. otherwise there are instructions in that thread to root that SBF

I'm positive it was locked, running 1.83, and had CWM on it. I bought the phone at an AT&T store myself. I rooted it and put CWM on it. The early version of CWM for the Atrix only was accessible by turning the phone on while plugged into the wall charger that came with the phone.

T-Mobile LGV10, Need a recovery.

Hey guy. I updated to MM a little while ago. I unlocked the bootloader, but can't seem to find a custom recovery. Any help would be amazing!
There is no custom recovery as there is currently no way to flash anything. The bootloader may look unlocked but it's been discovered that most of the commands don't work...
*edit* actually, I think they have TWRP ready but no way to flash.
Also, you can't currently go back to LP just fyi

Is my bootloader unlocked?

I have tried for multiple hours to get fastboot and ADB to work with my S6 Edge but it is not working. I suspect I might need to try older Samsung drivers (I only tried the latest ones as far as I remember). I wanted these tools in order to check if my bootloader was unlocked so that I wouldn't brick my device if I tried to install a custom ROM and TWRP. Anyway I followed a video and installed TWRP on my phone and installed Lineage OS Android 10 without checking the bootloader since the guy in the video did not mention doing so and still installed the custom ROM and TWRP. It is working fine. I know it is most likely that since this was possible, the bootloader should probably be unlocked but I just wanted to confirm with more experienced smartphone modders if this is indeed the case. Is it then safe to root my phone without checking bootloader?
Sub-question: If a person were to theoretically attmept to install custom ROM or TWRP or root the phone while the bootloader is locked, would that result in the root failing but the device still being usable or would the attempt result in the device being bricked? IE if the bootloader is locked is it dangerous to attempt to flash software to the phone or will it result in a harmless "failed" message, etc.?
Thank you.
