Help with the installation/cloning - Android Stick & Console AMLogic based Computers

Hello,
I've been using quite satisfied an X96 max plus 4/32 TV box for the past 1.5 years.
I have CE 9.2.something on it. Entered some API keys for YouTube etc. It's working nice.
Now I bought another, exact same device and I wouldn't like to repeat the whole configuring process, since it takes a lot of effort and reading, cause I don't do it everyday, but there are some issues/questions.
1. It just doesn't boot CE from a new microSD card, all I get is an android recovery menu.
2. from USB stick, it boots with CE without problems.
3. I managed to boot now from the working microSD card from the old device somehow, but it still doesn't work with the new microSD.
4. Since it's fine with USB, it should be fine with the microSD, too.
Is there a way to have it boot from microSD?
Is there a way to clone the working microSD to the other one, OR putting the working CE on the ROM without loosing my old system from the card and have it boot from the device itself?
Is there a way to clone the working microSD to the bootable USB stick and then putting it on the ROM for good and have it boot from the device itself? <- this might be the easiest option.
Can someone please help?
Thank you in advance.

[Q] noob wondering how to mount sd card. please help have searched for hours

hey guys, I just got the hd2 yesterday, and it alread was loaded android miui onto it. I was just wondering, how do I mount a sd card from windows mobile so i can see the contents of the card on a computer? What I'm trying to do is, use a sd card that doesn't have android on it in windows mobile, but i don't have a card reader. I know thres a way to put my micro sd into my hd2 and connect it to my macbook ( i dont have any virtual machines for windows so the sync software won't work ) so I can view all the files and put the necessary files for android on it. I have the clarity rom 6.5 and in the settings in connections/usb it just says allow usb connection or something like that. everytime I connect to my mac it doesn't recognize an external device, but my hd2 charges. When i boot it into android i can mount my sd card, but the problem is i dont have android on the other sd card that i want to modify, so I can't go into android and mount my sd card to modify files. So to make a long question short, HOW DO I VIEW/MODIFY THE CONTENTS OF MY SD CARD ON MY MAC WITH ONLY MY HD2 AND USB CABLE? This is my first post, so please go easy on me.
if you set the hd2 to disk drive mode the mac should see it as a usb hard disk. shouldnt it? (in windows mobile, not android, dunno nuffink about android)
how do i do this? I have never used windows mobile. ever. thanks for the help!
well when you plug in the usb cable, normally you get a popup (on the hd2) asking what you want, actyive sync, disk drive or (sometimes) internet sharing.
if it doesnt, you can go
settings tab menu all settings connections usb to PC
or settings tab other usb to PC
select disk drive, connect (or reconnect) USB cable.
you sometimes have better luck with switching usb mode if you havent already connected the device that session. try it from a fresh phone and pc reboot, put the phone in disk mode then connect usb.
(just as an added point of interest, you can use the hd2 in usb disk mode to boot a PC from a suitably formatted bootlable sd card, so it is using real usb hard disk mode. I use it to boot to ubuntu when im testing faulty machines.)
I only have one usb to pc, and it says when i tap it,
enable advanced network functionality.
no other settings. is something wrong? I am on clarity rom.
oh and im on clarity rom, but for some reason its not doing anything when i plug it into the mac
dunno what to say then, you are looking for the screen as my image.
G'nite, good luck.
you might claim to be a noob, but you certainly know what you're doing and you're on the right track!
here are the facts:
1. the HD2 is TOTALLY capable of what you require, i.e. usb disk mode
2. point 1 is true in both WM6.5(.x) and android (and you have already used the feature first-hand in android!)
3. point 2 is true only for WM ROMs and android builds in which the chef has chosen to provide the ability to toggle the usb disk mode option (this feature is present and fully usable in 90+% of the available ROMs/builds and in 100% of the ROMs/builds i've tried personally!)
4. given point 3, i find it hard to believe or understand why the chef of this "clarity" ROM you speak about left out the option! maybe it is there but moved to a different section of settings as samsamuel has suggested. maybe it WAS there but somehow something got corrupted/screwed and now the option has been wiped out? maybe try hard resetting your WM.
my honest and humble suggestion to you is to post in the thread of the "clarity" ROM and ask the chef/users of the ROM.
you seem very comfortable with the tweaking and ROM scene, so why not try a different WM ROM (i suggest NRGZ's "energy" ROM series)? you are already using android, and changing the WM ROM is a whole lot easier and straight forward if your primary OS is android (like yours truly!); nothing to backup/restore, no apps to install/configure, no contacts/messages backup/restore, etc.
i am happily using an old NRGZ ROM from june 2010, i keep WM in flight mode and simply use WM as a "bootstrap" into android. my WM is properly tweaked and configured to my liking just in case android ever screws up and i end up having to rely on WM until i get android sorted. hasn't happened yet, but fingers crossed!

Not enough posts for development, but yes - it does in fact boot.
Tested on the 16GB and the 8GB - and no, it did not need to be tethered to work. Booted just fine.

Your 8gb booted without the need for being tethered in any way? No cable connected what so ever?
Got the box, looks like it works. Now the question is, does this have the capability to let the tablet root just yet, or is this something that needs further developing? I would try rooting it, but in order to do so I'd have to override the existing files so the root process wouldn't even have a chance to start.

I didn't need to use the cable at all. I extracted the files to my root directory, pressed N and power, pressed power again, and it booted off my SD card.

That very intersting. My 8gb wouldn’t boot form SD at all unless it was connected to USB. I'm sure B&N have a quality control issue because out of my 3 Nook Tablets some will boot from SD without usb, one needed USB and one just refused to boot SD at all! It seems the 8gb are the same :S

B&N quality is unsurpassed Celtic, you know that! NOBODY can make this many mistakes. White on white text because of not knowing the difference between light and dark...really??? WTF!

SOLVED [Q] How to Boot from an SD card without changing stock OS

It's been awhile since I've done anything root/rom related, so I am just a bit rusty. (And I apologized for the long post).
I have no problems following directions, just need to find them. I have searched, but I have been on so many posts/pages, my head is spinning at this point.
Background:
Back in 2012 I rooted and installed everything internally on EMMC. (CWM, etc...)
I decided I wanted to go back to stock OS and run alt OS system from SD Card. I decided on this: CM10.2 Jellybean (Android 4.3) for Nook Tablet (IMG/SDC Boot) (22AUG2013) for an SD card.
(On that post, he has a boot zip and an image file for the 10.2.0-RC0_09AUG2013_HD_SDC_IMG. version. No image for the (22AUG2013) version.)
So, I used the file from this post: [Stock Firmware]Restore Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet 16G 1.4.0 from SDCard and was able to get back to stock, no problem. Currently running Nook OS version 1.4.2
I formatted a SD Card using SDFormatter, and burned the above mentioned image (10.2.0-RC0_09AUG2013_HD_SDC_IMG) using win32diskimager-v0.9-binary.
My dilemma:
The Nook will not boot from the SD Card. I put the SD Card in the Nook. I tried starting it normal, (power button only), and it booted to stock.
I tried the power & n (home) key, release power while holding n key, still boots to stock.
So, I added the boot file to the SD Card, first just the unzipped boot file, then I copied all the files in the boot folder straight to the card.
Same result, boots to stock. Tried booting with USB plugged into computer. Still boots to stock.
So, I read a little more, and flashed the repart.img, thinking maybe some of my previous root files were hanging around somewhere inside.
Did the same sequence burning the files on the SD Card as before. Same results. Nook always boots stock.
Can someone direct me to a post, or a solution, that I may have missed in my endless search on here?
I don't want to root if I don't have to. Everything I'm reading seems to indicate that I should be able to boot from an SD Card.
Am I missing a step? Do I have to run the Block OTA's first? At this point I am so confused.
Currently running Nook OS version 1.4.2
(Thanks to anyone who reads this whole thing. I just wanted to list everything I did.)
I can't see any mention of the standard boot from sd for troublesome Tablets: Turn off device, insert card, then insert USB cable connected to wall adapter.

+1.
The power source doesn't have to be an wall adapter, PC or a connected USB hub would work just as well.

So, I tried the wall socket method, and same non-results.
I am going to partition the SDcard and build it with the cm_acclaim_10.2.0-RC0_22AUG2013_HD_SDC files and see if that works.
We'll see how that goes
Thanks for the replies from both of you. Glad to know someone is willing to help with my quandry

Well, it worked using the partitioned card! Maybe I just got a bad download of the rom image file.
Thank you guys again for the replies. Greatly appreciated !

ICOO iCou D70G2 Softbrick -- Please Help

Hello, I rooted my ICOO iCou D70G2 and managed to softbrick it into a loop at the Android messages. I bought another, identical tablet, and would now like to clone the new one into the old. I would very much appreciate complete, newbie level instructions on how this can be done.
Here is what I have tried so far.
I looked for a stock ROM for this device, but can't find one. The closest out there I could locate is for a D70Pro II. I don't know if it will work, and in any case, I still can't figure out how to flash the old tablet.
The old tablet does go into recovery mode using vol up and power. I tried putting the Pro II flash on the micro sd card (tried both img and zip, separate times), but the tablet isn't seeing the micro sd card in recovery mode with the update from sd card option. It shows a folder /sdcard with some seemingly empty subfolders, but even if I take out the micro sd card it shows the same set of folders and says choose a package.
I tried using the Intel USB drivers with adb, but the device isn't recognized in recovery mode by adb. Rockchip Batch Tools 1.8 also doesn't see the device, although it seems to load the ProII img file correctly.
It would be really great to get this old tablet to work. I don't have any CWM, TWRP or any other backup software on either device at this point. The new device is new from the box and not rooted.

Encryption options for in case device goes bad?

Hi all,
So just finished rooting my Tab A T585. I want to begin using the encryption, but my question is, if my device goes bad, for example, and I need to access my 128 GB sd card from my computer, is that possible? I'm used to windows where I can move a Bitlocker-encrypted drive to another PC, and enter the seed without a problem. Is that possible with Android?
Thanks!!
