I have a Nord n200 5g I got from T-Mobile the day it came out. My system is taking up 44gbs of storage and I'm not sure how to solve this without factory resetting it. I've seen similar problems like this with other phones and the oem_log being an issue. I have already tried deleting all logs with the one plus log kit app and I wiped system cache aswell. If anyone has any ideas what could be causing this issues I would appreciate it alot.

On my N200, the system only takes 11GB. Try to reset the phone to see if it goes back to 11 GB. If not, contact one plus for replacement. I
I found the files that seem to be increasing the System storage under /data/vendor/ramdump/
Filenames are "ramdump_modem_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS.elf" (269 MB each added at a 5 per day clip)
In order to find and delete these, I unlocked the bootloader, gained root access, installed SD Maid (Pro Version), and used the Storage Analyzer.
The question is for those with stock T-Mo ROM, can OnePlus identify the issue and provide a cleanup solution or stop producing the files?

Life saver tip here. Worked great. I spent hours searching until I got to your comment. I was able to take 107GB of system usage down to 23GB.

Hello guys..
I am an ATnT Samsung galaxy S2 i777 user. Some may be aware that the logcat files generated by Samsung at times causes issues by exhausting the memory reserved for the apps. My phone was plagued by the issue and i wasnt aware of the exact problem.
As a result, i kept moving apps/data to the external mem card as much as possible to keep the phone cured of the 'device memory low' warning sign. I was away from the scene due to hectic schedule and as there wasnt any big need to install new apps/features either, i wasnt bothered too much.
Finally one day the phone rebooted while i was asleep, and i woke up to find that much of the customization was gone. No Gapps, No Apex launcher, No Amazon app store, many apps (incl Titanium backup) missing.
Forced to google, found out the *#9900# trick and wiped off the excess logcat files. The memory status got straightened out, but the phone wont restore to the earlier state even after reboots.
I was running Shostock ROM, and it was about time i moved to either Kitkat or even Lollipop based ROMS. And this is what i plan to do now that i have the perfect excuse. Before i pulled the trigger, i wanted to clarify some points out so pls do lend me a helping hand here.
Have chosen Carbon ROM as my next. (Geekynimrod and rogsersb11 been superb with the work)
1) I have moved a lot of apps/data to the mem card. Once i have flashed the new ROM, will this data interfere with the new setup?
2) I would ofc need to empty the mem card of the data which i dont require. How to clean up the moved app/data if they are of no use?

I would recommend checking this thread out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...de-partition-i777-phone-data-storage-t2839161
This procedure made all the difference for me.
I would also recommend choosing the 4.4.4 OmniRom. Normally I don't favor any Rom over the others in comments out of respect however, OmniRom is still being updated almost daily. It's the only 4.4.4 still in active development. I've tried many of the others and have settled on OmniRom for the past couple of weeks:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544790
There is a lot of quality work still available here. It's been a lot of fun reading these threads.

Thanks a lot for the tip mate. I will def check the thread out.
Carbon ROM has been very impressive, and i wanted to try that out .. hence the inclination. But i guess i can always try both
Once i brush the basics off again, i ll be more comfortable getting the flashing done without too much apprehension. Thanks again. :good:
Hi all
I have come across numerous problems with P780 and many issues that are addressed but scattered everywhere on the net. I believe it is high time to condense everything down here. These are issues that I have come across and I look forward if someone within the elite team on this forum can address them individually.
1st issue (Internal v/s external memory swapping)
Internal Memory keeps filling up although External Storage is chosen from the menu for future download and installation. Actually, all apps are de facto installed onto the internal memory. I had to download a 3rd party software to move them each and everytime an app is downloaded to the external memory card. Still after moving, the internal memory keeps filling up.
I have tried this solution but unfortunately it doesn't work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2346389
2nd issue: (RAM)
Like you know, the RAM keeps over charging itself and each and everytime you have to clean it up. Came across this solution to increase RAM and I would like to know if this is genuine or not: https://www.androidpit.com/increase-phone-ram
3rd issue: Lenovo Launcher keeps crashing
Any solution to that? I used LiFE ROM. Want to know if there is a solid ROM out there that can overcome such issue? The numerous applications to be installed are found sparingly in several threads; hence if someone can group them altogether with relevant description of each of them that would be nice. Stumpy did an incredible thread here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B2ORIgaV4iacYmZHQmV0QXFpR0E&usp=sharing#list
But unfortunately, without a description of each of the file, it is difficult to know which is which.
4th issue: Installing new ROMs through Recovery mode
For instance I cannot install MIUI through this mode. I can only use flash tool to install a ROM. I donwloaded MIUI through their website but can't find the scatter file for relevant installation.
5th issue: Sound quality
People gets difficulty to hear us properly. Is that a hardware defect or software?

Please teach, how we can:
1) root
2) unroot
3) how to unlock external sd card for APPs
Thanks
Hi,
I just purchased this tablet. I've search the web but am unable to find a method to root this device. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I made a similar assuming that I can still root and install custom rom on Samsung device and went ahead with the purchase of the same machine--the cheaper 8 gigs model that came with 7 of those 8 gigs already used by core files, and manufacturer apps which are basically bloatware. I didn't even bother to ask the dealer because I just figured ROOT and problem solved. Unfortunately not. After going through the usual developers sites, I am reading that new Samsung devices are distributed with the Bootloader being locked. Until there is a solution to unlock the bootloader, then I am assuming we can't do anything about this. If not, my questions is: Is there any way to reformat/reinstall or some method of getting those precious memory back? Taking up 7 of the 8 gigs is absurd.
All the apps I've installed have been moved to the external SD. However, the Internal memory still show: Apps 2.9GB, Others: 4.06GB (only showing 550MB thumbdata, DCIM 552MB) which tells me Samsung has installed bloatware that doesn't show up on the cleaning/maintenance apps available in the PlayStore. There must be something that can be done--anyone have a suggestion?
I'm facing the same problem too.
Why would Samsung had such device?
I had actually moved away from Samsung but last month bought this SM-T285 just to play games.
Only manage to keep few games and has the notification "Storage space running out some system functions may not work" permanently lighted.

So as a typical consumer without an alternative of rooting, I decided to play their game--move the Apps to the SD card using the options in /Settings/Apps --this is the most helpful. Then also using a maintenance/ clean up app to complement Smart Manager is also helpful. Smart Booster is one I use. There are "bloatware" apps Samsung installed on the phone that you can uninstall and disable. This helps to. Using all of the above methods, I was able to retrieve an additional 1Gb back! It's a big deal when dealing with this device.
Please keep nagging Samsung about this-- We want the bootloader unlocked because by locking it up they are essentially slowing down progress--right?
:highfive:
Post your queries here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/t/galaxy-tab-a
This device cannot be rooted at the moment.
All my methods have been unsuccessful so far due to the locked bootloader and Samsungs root restrictions.
However I have a customized debloated rom available.
If there is something specific you require in this rom post at the link above.

Not sure why you state this device takes up 7gb of its storage as it doesn't take anywhere near that as stock on the T280.
EDIT
This issue was fixed. The problem is with the persist partition getting corrupted on some devices. The reasons are not clear, but we have strong reasons to believe this is due to TWRP's implementation of leaving logs and cache files on the /persist partition, which is limited in size. The log files often exceed 20MB in size and cause the sensor config and calibration files to become corrupted on that partition.
Steps to get this fixed:
Obtain a working persist.img from someone (it is device specific. You can find the ones for crosshatch and blueline on this thread, but will have to ask someone else for other devices)
Replace your persist partition with the persist.img you obtained. This needs to be done using an advanced command (dd) and you need to be on Android 9 in TWRP (rooted) to do this. Read the thread (around page 19) for more details.
Flash Android 10 (does not need to be a clean install, but clean install is always recommended).
WARNING: replacing your persist partition with someone else's (even the same device) WILL replace your original, unique factory calibration data with someone else's. This includes audio config files, camera calibration files, sensor calibration files. Backup your original /partition image before doing this and only do this if it is absolutely necessary. You have been warned!
No one on this thread assumes responsibility for anything bad happening to your device. It worked for all of us, but is not guaranteed to work for you. Still no news from Google, who are still investigating.
ORIGINAL THREAD
Starting a new thread here from the old one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3-xl/how-to/android-10-final-version-release-t3963794/page7
What is the problem?
Many users of Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3, Pixel 2 XL and even the OG Pixel are reporting a major bug after upgrading to Android 10. All the sensors seem to be disabled.
This includes Active Edge, Proximity Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Auto-brightness, Accelerometer (Auto-rotation, flip to shhh, double tap to wake and lift to wake). All of these are dead on Android 10.
What we know:
Whether we upgrade directly from Android Pie or do a clean install using the factory images does not seem to matter. The issue only affects a certain set of users and only goes away if we revert to Pie. The phone works perfectly then.
Manually erasing all partitions and installing from the image does not work either.
Installing Android 10 individually on partitions A and B does not help either.
Re-locking the bootloader and returning completely to stock does not work either.
The only thing in common for all of us is that we were all rooted and/ or using a custom kernel in the past. However, some others who had been rooted and using custom kernels/ ROMs report they do not face this issue.
Interestingly, for users on the beta program, they started noticing this issue around Beta 6. Post-that, even if they reverted to an older Beta 3,4 or 5 which did not have this problem, they would face this problem after Beta 6. And this is continues with the public version now.
Some users suspect this could be happening due to "something left-over somewhere hidden on the phone." (not verified, but makes sense, in theory)

Hi, I've recently took a chance on a well priced midrange smartphone from Cubot, namely the X30 with 8gb ram 256gb rom and stock Android 10.. or so it seems.
The only app installed that wasn't a Google app is an app called Wireless Update, which connects with com.adups.fota. After some research I found many articles from 2017 saying that this update app is actually malware which could do a whole manner of nefarious things without the users knowledge or permission.
According to Cubot it's just the app that they use to push OTA to devices.
I've been using the phone for a few days now and haven't had any problems *yet* but I'm very wary about adding my banking apps etc.
I've scanned with Malwarebytes which shows no problems, but I've read elsewhere that because it's a system app, av products overlook it..?
Does anybody know or have experience that can help me please? Should I/could I return the phone on the grounds that it's infected? The Wireless Update app is apparently on many lesser known devices, do do you own one? Is this a threat, or is it largely overblown?
I've currently got the app 'frozen' through the screen time limiting function on Android 10 (it's allowed zero seconds per day) and I've restricted its permissions too.
Would appreciate any help please people ?
Thanks

Hello man,
I' bought the 6/128 GB version instead of 8/256 GB 'cause I prefer to stock data in a Micro SD.
Anyway... At the moment, I've no info related to possible malware in the system, using Malwarebytes like u.
Just to inform u:
* TWRP recovery for Cubot X30 is already available (unofficial) BUT IT CANNOT MOUNT SYSTEM (so, no flash, no backup...)
* ROOT is already available for Cubot X30, u need simply to unlock bootloader and flash Magisk patched BOOT.IMG

Hello,
My name is Derek. I will be helping you with your ticket # 3252842.
We have seen an increase in Android devices coming with pre-installed malware. For additional information on this malware, please refer to our blog post provided below.
blog.malwarebytes com/cybercrime/2019/01/the-new-landscape-of-preinstalled-mobile-malware-malicious-code-within/
Due to the security within the Android OS by default system apps can not be removed by 3rd party apps including Malwarebytes.
I have provided some methods of removing or disabling system malware below:
- Disable the app – Can be done via Android Settings -> Apps -> bad app -> Force stop/disable or through adb command line. Which can be found on our forum at the link below.
This will prevent the app and any associated services from running.

Note: Proceed at your own risk! I, nor Malwarebytes, can guarantee this will not damage your mobile device. Uninstalling system apps have the potential to permanently damage your device, rendering it unusable.
- Root your device and uninstall the malicious apps. Usually reserved for advanced users. I can't recommend rooting because of the potential for damaging phone, and doing so is at your own risk.
- Install different, trusted, ROM to replace the infected one. Usually reserved for advanced users, this requires your device is rooted, please do at your own risk.
- Return device where purchased.
I wish there were more options but where Android's openness and built-in security collide; openness, anyone can flash a device with a custom ROM, security, you can't uninstall system apps.
Kind regards,

I've sent them info through the app about all the installed apps etc but they seem to have just written me a generic reply, linking to an old fix for Android 6... I've asked for more info and will update their replies here
Hopefully someone from XDA will be able to help too.
P.S. I've had to remove a dot from the links they sent, as this is a new XDA account and I can't post links yet.
Wireless update, malware, bloatware.
I brought a Homtom 17 pro about 4years ago and I'm using it to send this reply, the app in question is indeed Malware as my phone came with it pre-installed, but here's the catch it doesn't kick in until either 6 or 12 months after the phone being activated and then it starts to install bloateware , e.g random apps called setting or other named apps you wouldn't look at twice and think they have always been there (popup ads), it communicates with China? Or that global area. It's been along time since I researched this so the country may differ. When I found this out I instantly installed Adguard to prevent Wireless update + some other system apps from communicating with the web and I have had no problems since. Obviously you can go down the roots Malware bytes said but you could brick your phone or root it, and many official apps nowadays don't like rooted phones. I hope this helps and sorry for the long reply.
