Is there a way to force main camera as front camera?
Let me explain:
I just bought this phone a week ago, and I love everything about it, but I have a problem. In order to log into my banking app for the first time I need to pass face recognition, but everytime the front camera shows up the picture is black, so the app cannot see my face.
The front camera works perfect with any other app so it's not a problem with my phone. Then I try the app on another three LG V60s and the result was the same. I call my bank and the say they cannot do anything about it, that I need to pass face recognition in order to open my bank app, and they suggest me to change my phone for another brand and model.
So I was thinking that if there's a way to use the main camera as the selfie one maybe I can pass face recognition, or maybe connecting a USB webcam and make it the "default" front camera, so I don't need to throw away this wonderful phone

Hello everyone. I just got this phone the other day after returning the galaxy s5. I am loving it but I have one issue and maybe I'm just doing something wrong.
Everytime I take a picture in the camera app after tapping the check button, the camera closes and I return to the home screen. Does anyone else have this problem or is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?
Not normal. If the phone is stock (unrooted, etc.) I would try a factory reset (backup any personal data first) and see if the problem persists.
Only time I see a check in camera app is when sending picture via mms and it asks where I want to send [email protected],camera etc... if this is case of attaching picture directly from camera to an mms then this is a normal function, if taking a picture and it just closes then this is not normal reaction
Well it seems that the problem has resolved itself. I was just about to post a screen shot of the check mark so you guys could see it and then it just starting working as normal. Thanks for the responses and I'll post here if it comes up again.
Ok the problem returned... I showed the issue to a buddy who has the same phone and it also turned out that I was missing several options on the camera. I did a factory reset and the problem persisted.
I think I found the issue... I was using Google Now Launcher. Apparently that launcher doesn't play well with the camera. I uninstalled the launcher and voila, all the features (video, zoe, dual camera, etc) are back and the camera no longer closes after taking a pic.
Anyone else want to test this theory and see if happens?
confirmed issue and workaround
Hi there,
I can confirm that the Now launcher uses the native Google camera instead of the Zoe camera. I have also found that from the lock screen with the now launcher installed, unlocking by pulling the camera icon opens the full HTC zoe-enabled camera again. I find this super annoying as I'd like to have Google launcher and have the camera work properly. Anyone know a fix for this other than my workaround?
Ditto for T-Mobile HTC One (M7)
There's a lot I really like about the Google Launcher, but this just drives me nuts. I didn't really understand the workaround suggested here ( though I have no doubt it works). But the suggestion sounded on target. So, I went into my app list and shared it from there. It didn't do the funky stuff any more. I wonder if there's a setting to change that behavior: like someone thought, Hey, take a picture and go back to our regular programming? It's a shame because I really feel that the Google camera takes better picture.
In any case, just to let folks know that this is a real problem. The OP was on target.
To anyone else having this problem that does not use Google Now Launcher, another app that causes this is Omni Swipe. The default camera button in the tools section isn't the right camera (not sure what it's trying to access but still). If you add the correct camera app to the app section, it'll be fine.
Yes, this solved my problem as well. I went back to the default launcher and now the camera is working fine
As of yesterday afternoon, I can no longer get my camera to open/work in any app.
Native App - Nope
Messanger - Nope
WhatsApp - Nope
Snapchat - Nope
Filmic Pro - Nope
All apps that I can use the camera in it loads a black screen and nothing shows up. Example: Load native camera app, it shows the shutter button, options, video, etc...but no picture. If I try to flip to the selfie camera I get the same thing.
When I restart the phone, the camera works in the native camera app. But if I open Snap, Messanger, etc...the camera stops working. When I go back to the native app the camera no longer works either.
I've rolled back the updates, factory reset the phone (twice), and removed 3rd party camera apps.
If I use JUST the native camera app after I restart the phone, the camera works just fine. The second I try to open the camera within the Messanger app, it fails again and I have to restart the device.
My Pixel 3 is not modified in any way.
I spent a 1.5hrs on the phone with Google Support and their answer was to RMA the phone. Which, 1, doesn't make any sense. This seems to be software related. 2, I leave for a trip Monday and the new phone wouldn't be here in time and they won't ship it to my hotel.
I'm hoping this is something that can be sorted out with an update. But would like some input on other possible causes or solutions.

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to post this question within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device.

Hi,
I am using LG V30+ (LG-H930DS) past one year. For past two months, my default camera app stopped working. I have tried with restarting the mobile, clearing the data and cache, force stopped the app also. Nothing works. I am receiving the following error
"Camera Error;Camera unavailable"
Also in other camera applications the selfie cam is not opening. If I select the change camera option to take photo in front camera, its redirecting again to rear camera. I am unable to open the camera through applications like WhatsApp also. Even face detection is not working.
I haven't dropped my mobile or damaged by any other means like water also.
So can anyone of the members in our forum could help to rectify this error?
My mobile IS currently running in May 1 2019 security patch. Software version is V20f-IND-XX.

KDZ back to stock to see if it's hardware failure

1) Perhaps there's a conflict:
"Camera Error;Camera unavailable"
"Also in other camera applications the selfie cam is not opening".
That first error usually means something else is using the camera. Uninstall the other camera applications to test. You can always re-install later.
Back when I had Moto Maxx XT1225 and custom ROM, I ended up with two Galleries and my camera would crash when I tried to use it. I ended up having to freeze one of the Galleries in Titanium Backup.
If you have multiple camera apps, it's possible one of them is always running in the background or something which prevents the others from using the camera. Just a suggestion to uninstall them, temporarily go back to stock LG camera only and see if that solves the issue. Then you can add them back one by one, rebooting in between, see if there's a conflict again (if that's the reason).

2) Yeah, could be hardware failure. In one instance, someone's selfie camera was not working -- wouldn't open. But turns out the problem was actually the rear camera. They had to REPLACE THE REAR CAMERA and then the selfie camera worked. The rear camera was faulty and wouldn't switch to the selfie camera.
This camera error, camera unavailable just happened to me. This is the 2nd time its happened and rhe first time i had to do a complete factory reset to restore my camera function....i didnt know what caused it then but it happened again and I think I know what may have caused it.
So this time just like last time I had my SD card filled with photos mounted and taking photos with this new phone created a 2nd "camera" folder.
I moved all the photos out of that folder into my existing SD card "camera" named folder and this inadvertently deleted my newly created LG "camera" folder...
I noticed my next time I went to take a pic I got the error....im thinking its related? Any weight to that? How do it restore or create that folder again...? To check before im forced to factor restore again??
Thank you!
Is anyone having any problems with facial recognition? I can set up my look (and alternate look) and literally keep my phone in the same place it was when registering my face, and it will give me a 'Face doesn't match' error when I try to unlock the screen. Occasionally it works but its definitely less than 50% of the time.
1) I have a screen protector on the phone but there is a cutout for the front camera.
2) I have verified via the camera app (and during face registration) that there's no debris blocking the lens.
3) I've tried various lighting and it doesn't make any difference.
4) I found a site that suggested clearing app data / cache for 'Face Unlock' but I'm not seeing that app in my app list. I scrolled through the whole list and didn't see anything that seemed to indicate that it was related to face unlock.
I'm coming from a Pixel 4, OnePlus 6T, and tested an iPhone 12 and never had any issues with those phones. I understand that they may be using some more advanced camera / infrared tech to detect the face, however, I don't understand how I can register my face and, without moving the phone immediately try to unlock it, and it fails.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can try?
Thanks!
I come from a Pixel 4Xl and compared to that the s21 ultra face recognition is really poor, I do realise that the pixel has the sensor, but the s21 is just a shame ATM. Hope they fix it.
Otherwise I'll disable it as the fingerprint is OK .
I may have come across an error in the Find X2 Pro's camera software.
However, the camera software is faulty. With recordings and photos of my hikes (with Komoot tracks), I can 100% prove that since the first day (!) the GPS position, which the camera saves with an image, is sometimes several km away from the actual position . The error occurs systematically. Not for all photos but for about 30% of all photos on a day trip. If I take the same shots with a GCAM app (installed on the Find X2) instead of the original Oppo camera, the position is exactly right. The two screenshots attached show the difference between the GCAM and Oppo cameras.
The GPS works. The GPS position in the komoot track is correct, only the photo is shown far off the track.
Resetting the smartphone to factory settings and reinstalling it did nothing.
I was waiting for the update to Android 12 or ColorOS 12. It came with a new camera SW. Despite this, the error still occurs and it only works with the Oppo camera with a GCAM.
I claim that my problem is not a defect in my smartphone, but a SW error in all Oppo cameras, although I cannot find any references to this on the internet.
What do you think about that? Anyone have the same problems?
