HDR comes to Android! Introducing Pro HDR Camera, the world's first real HDR app for Android! From the team that created Pro HDR for iOS, now you can automatically create stunning full-resolution HDR images with just a single tap on your Android phone. Please note that this app has been tested to work properly on Motorola, HTC and most Samsung phones. However, if you have a LG, Sony, or other device, the HDR capability may not function properly. Full functionality has been verified on the following phones: * HTC: Thunderbolt, EVO 4G, MyTouch 4G, G2, Incredible, Desire, Legend, Bravo * Motorola: Droid, Droid 2, Droid X * Samsung: Galaxy S, Epic 4G We've just released Pro HDR Camera for Android, but here are a few professional reviews of our iPhone version: "If you ever take photos using your iPhone, this app is a must-have." - Gizmodo "Pro HDR leaps ahead of the pack... Even if you're not into HDR photography, this is one to check out." - TUAW "Picture Perfection: Pro HDR automatically aligns and blends the images, giving you a perfectly exposed, amazing image that rivals a high-end point-and-shoot camera" - NBC Los Angeles Thanks to Pro HDR Camera, you no longer have to choose between a blown-out sky or a hopelessly dark foreground. Bringing automatic high dynamic range photography to your Android phone for the first time ever, Pro HDR captures an image exposed for the highlights and another exposed for the shadows. It then aligns and merges the images, giving you a gorgeous HDR image up to 8 megapixels like nothing you've ever seen from such a tiny device. Unlike fake HDR apps that merely take a single photo and reprocess it (without actually adding any new detail), Pro HDR massively extends the dynamic range of your camera and produces beautiful results that you have to see to believe. We provide a fully automatic mode, and an assisted Manual mode for those times when you wish to choose your exact exposures. Finally, you can take stunning high-resolution photos of all those scenes that are just too contrasty to capture in a single picture. Not only will seasoned photographers instantly fall in love with Pro HDR, one look at our example images should convince anyone that Pro HDR represents a new era in mobile photography. Check out our gallery here: http://www.eyeappsllc.com/Gallery.html Pro HDR Camera for Android comes with these incredibly useful features: • Automatic in-app HDR capture, where all you have to do is tap to capture • Manual in-app photo capture, where you get to choose the exposure of each image in your HDR • Proprietary image alignment algorithm that precisely aligns full-size images in seconds • Sophisticated image blending creates one beautiful output image nearly instantly • Live-updating image adjustment sliders to perfect your HDR: choose the perfect brightness, contrast, saturation, warmth, and tint, or let Pro HDR automatically select the best settings • Fullscreen image preview in portrait and landscape orientation • Save HDR images at the full resolution of your camera, up to 8 megapixels • Seamless background processing that renders your HDRs while you keep on shooting • Built-in HDR gallery view to peruse, share, and re-edit your HDRs • Share your HDRs with the world with e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, Picasa, and more IMPORTANT: Pro HDR Camera requires Android 2.2 (Froyo) or later. Pro HDR Camera works on Motorola, HTC and Samsung devices. Unfortunately, the exposure functions on LG phones and the Nexus S seem to be broken, so HDR functionality will likely not work (though the rest of the features will). The Nexus S doesn't truly adjust the exposure, but seems to darken or brighten the image in software as a post-processing step, which does not allow for true HDR photos. LG phones don't allow setting the exposure at all.
i assume you've tested it on x8, right? does it work, or you just uploaded it to raise your thanks level by ppl who click thanks button before checking compatibility?
I test it... how you can see in the screenshots.. Most of the app that i am posting here are testet..
I test it.
The screen says: Hold Still! Scanning: 0.0

Hi all, I'm new here and to the android world,
I have a Q:
I am coming from the graphic design and Photoshop and I knew few things about camera and image processing and after looking in the camera app on android I cant find good app that can just take a pic without processing! (sharpening, noise redaction, etc)
I wonder why no 1 made such app that gives the user option to take the natural photo prom the sensor without the stupid image processing algorithm!
I want the natural photo and edit it later in pro software (Photoshop)
Is the app like this?
I'm not sure if it processes images by default as it has effects that can be manually applied in post photography which might mean it takes pictures unprocessed, but I use a replacement camera app called camera zoom fx and it takes much better pics than my phones default camera app so it might be an option to try.
It also has more pre photograph options and modes such as burst and timelapse modes and more ways to control how the picture is taken such as metering controls.
Its not free but there may be a trial version. I bought it when android market had a sale offer on its top apps but its worth even normal full price.

Actually, I like the idea of RAW image format for Android camera. Is it possible?
There are a handful of great camera apps, some free, some not. I like to use Nemus camera, Camera effects ,and Fast burst, these are all free apps. The first two have some cool effect on them and the last app lets you take 30 shots per second. There is one called Camera Zoom FX that is 2 or 3 bucks. I haven't used it but I have read good things about it. Hope that helps.
If you are talking about app that takes no time and provide good quality selfie or pic. I recommend Camera 365 Beauty app...
A few people have asked me which camera based apps work well with this camera. So I thought I would share some findings here.
Essentially any Android app that makes use of a phone's camera will work with the Galaxy Camera, ie will allow access to the camera module and take the picture. The compatibility issues to be wary of are interface issues. This I find is either an app that only allows portrait mode, an app that uses an on screen slider for zooming (the zoom button on the camera controls the volume level in the app), an app that keeps the lens extended making the camera awkward to hold whilst using the editing features within the app and finally some storage location issues.
The following camera and editing apps are the ones I have tested so far:
HDR Camera+
Takes the picture with the shutter button or a screen tap and applies colour processing as desired, but uses an on screen zoom slider which zooms correctly but is awkward to use when holding the camera.
Camera Zoom FX
As above. The horizon level and shake detection work as designed too. However the camera shutter button sometimes takes the picture at the halfway point. Because of the weight of the camera and slightly awkward positioning of the on screen controls, I found myself accidently taking pictures.
Lapse it Pro
Again uses an on screen zoom but otherwise works as expected.
Pics Play Pro editor
An excellent editor but sadly only works in portrait mode. Does not have its own camera, will ask you to choose including the default camera.
Instagram
Comes pre-installed but interface only shows portrait mode, you can take a shot in landscape but the interface doesn't rotate with the viewfinder. I believe this is the same when used on a phone.
PicSay Pro
This is probably the best photo editor out there, it works in landscape mode but the feature that's missing oddly is a capture function. Why this is missing is beyond me. So you will have to take a picture normally then open it up in the app.
I would be quite happy to try out any other camera specific apps if anyone wants me to and will add to my list.

Can you please try from play google com

And one more question - can any of photo applications control Optical Zoom by its on-screen-slider (not by hardware buttons)? Or only built-in?
Can you get any app to record slow motion video ( or does it work only in samsung's app ) ?
And maybe little OT: if you could please check little of USB OTG functionality ?
I can confirm that, on a rooted SGC, the OTG works, if Stick Mount is installed. I didn't try it without Stick Mount installed.
The default file manager opens automatically, I switched to the USB drive and could read all contents and open images using default Gallery.

The paid for Pro Capture Camera + Panarama app works with the Zoom button, albeit in a less smooth fashion than the default camera app. It doesn't automatically display the volume slider on the display, as most other camera apps from Play. I'll be checking this app out further so will let you know if there's anything else significant.

Paper Camera (paid)
Lets you apply some quirky effects to pictures and movies. Zoom does work in about 3 or 4 stages though (emailed devs, they're looking into it).
IP WebCam
Get to use your cam as a very high resolution IP webcam. Produces some very nice video. More for fiddling around than any serious purpose
The best panorama app in my opinion is ProCapture. You guys should definitely try it out. It produces some amazing hires shots and the algorithm seems very smart.
For HDR, IMO nothing beats HDR Camera+ with 'Pure' setting and noise reduction set to None.

Firstly the on-screen zoom slider does operate the optical zoom in these apps, it's not a digital zoom
Camera FV5 Lite
As far as I can tell this is working as designed, there are a lot of features in the app but as they are processing options they should work fine. Zooming once again isn't available on the hardware button.
LG Camera
The on screen button that has a flower icon... not sure what this is supposed to do, but all that happens when you tap it, is the whole screen turns white. It restores when tapping again. Auto flash is selectable when flash is raised but you cannot turn it off. Lowering the flash light will allow you to select off, but obviously it won't fire anyway in the lowered position.
Camera X Free
This has compatibility problems due to the screen size/resolution. Some of the icons merge together, are not selectable as touching them causes a picture to be taken. Adverts cover top part of screen and saved shots don't seem to appear in the gallery. I would give this a wide berth for now.
My conclusion, is that the camera's own set of utilities and effects are far better than any of these third party camera apps.
I use HDR Camera+ as it's more customisable than the built in Rich Colours setting. I use Camera Zoom FX for the props and frame overlays etc, all other apps I have tried so far I deleted as they just don't add any real value to the camera's own settings.

Which app do you mean?
The built in camera App.
I imagine there might be a couple of libs that are needed like when you use JB4.2 camera App, but just wondered if it would run a phone camera.

The s suggest app seemed to have a few camera apps. Camera 360 seems to have a lot of features. One problem I found though was the hardware zoom button doesn't work in the app and instead changes volume. You have to zoom though the touchscreen in the app
Hi,
I'm trying the recommended apps on my GC.
However, I'd like to have some other Camera features:
- 3D still photo (don't say it's impossible with a one-lens camera, Samsung WB850F smart camera can do it with a similar(or same ?) lens of Galaxy Camera)
- 3D panorama (this is another great feature of Samsung WB850F - captures panorama with 3D feature)
- Action panorama (this is another great feature of Samsung WB850F - captures panorama and a moving object on the still background)
Are there any 3rd party apps which could do these 3 features ?
thx.

no ideas ?
I've tried the following apps on Galaxy camera. Some of them are really useful apps. Some of them are not working, crashing.
HD Panorama+
Nice app for panorama photos.
Camera 3D
Manual 3D photo app. There are tons of this kind of 3D photo apps. This one is pretty good.
3D Photo Cam
The description of this app is tempting but it crashed on my Galaxy Camera. HAs anyone tried it successfully ?
FaceinHole
Great app for face in hole scenarios.
PIP Camera
Great PIP scenarios. Really nice.
Twin Me!
Crashed on my Galaxy Camera. But it seems to have uniq features like having 2 times same object in the photo on same background.
Does anyone have any idea why it crashes ?
MotionGraph
Nice one to have only some part of the photo moving.
Why do we have so many apps crashing ? (if they also crash on your GC)

I don't believe so, kept alive by yourself, thanks!
I have become frustrated at the amount of camera apps that only allow portrait view in both interface and on taking pictures. I guess this is down to the damn iPhone mentality again!
I have tended to just use what Samsung has provided and use some decent editing software (where necessary)
Another nice camera & gallery app for GC100 :

Just took a look and it is very impressive. Thanks for sharing.
Hey guys,
The question is pretty much on the title. Stock camera app on 20mpx camera setting, it does not appear in fullscreen, but on 3rd party apps it does work in fullscreen. If I wanna take a fullscreen photo, I gotta downgrade the megapixel's to 15mpx for it to be 16:9.
Why is it like this?
Thank you for any answer!
Hi,
Yes, 20mpx is 4:3 while 15mpx is 16:9, (more) like the screen.
3rd-party apps just use 16:9 resolution PREVIEW and take 4:3 resolution IMAGE while stock app shows what is actually in your viewfinder
Sadly, DNG (RAW) only appears to work on the main camera.
When you're in Pro mode, the wide-angle and telephoto lenses aren't available to shoot with.
It's frustrating that this is still a limitation. Perhaps Samsung are embarrassed about the RAW images from their telephoto?
Guess I'll be looking at the Mate P20 Pro which does allow DNG on all cameras :/
Maybe its working with third party apps? Are they any that allow to switch between cameras? ProShot maybe?
Are there any solutions? No way to have RAW pics with wide camera?
It works in Hedgecam 2, apparently it works in open camera too though I couldn't work out out.
HedgeCam 2 only supports raw from the main sensor, not the wide or zoom sensors.
You can use HEIC on all sensors instead of JPG for possibly a very minor increase in colour fidelity when pushed but nothing like raw.
It's a shame that Samsung doesn't open it up. I do miss that feature from the p30 pro I had before, lots of creative possibilities in Lightroom. (the s10 takes better JPGs out of camera though)
