Hello,
in most GSI's signal indicator does not work. On the 10 Android it usually shows half of the scale, on the 11 it is empty.
In theory this can be fixed by editing framework-res.apk, but I'm not sure...
Btw, this patch was made for A8 Oreo, not sure if it is compatible with A10 and A11.

Hello, so I've bought a Huawei Ascend Y6, and it's on its way. I didn't realize that there seems to be a lack of support for third party OS's before I've bought it. I see threads about other devices that have lots of work built around them, some of them being Huawei products, but none seem to match this exact model. I'm finding nothing either here, or through search engines.
So if nobody's written a ROM for this Huawei phone, am I out of luck and just stuck with the stock OS? I'd appreciate help very much, thanks.

Yes, I believe the phone is also just called the Huawei Y6! My model is the SCL-L04, so I could also give you some details on that if you need any, and if it would help you. Do you have any links to your work on this? I'd love to try finally installing a new OS on this phone, (though I'm not sure how to do it with this locked down bootloader).

I don't have any work ready yet and I only have the SCL-L21 libs ready to work with. Could you send me a backup of your system.img? I could work with that.

You'd have to create a TWRP backup, then they will show up in the backups folder of TWRP.

Hi there,
As far as I am aware, we have not yet got a device tree.
Good luck on the port though, what device are you thinking of porting from?

Most Often you can't. There would be issues with drivers and other stuff. Issues might not occur if the both the processors are a lot similar and maybe share same drivers. Since you are trying to change to a different brand this is not the case.
Anyone knows that for mate 10/pro this new ARK compiler will be available or not?
because in description for emui9 there is no mention of it
And about EROFS is it even possible to change whole file system without formating all of partitions? Or Huawei is just messing with us

Dunno about ARK, but Erofs is there. When you flash an update (full update) it rewrites partitions anyway, so there's no difference. And it doesn't use Erofs on all partitions.

I'd believe it when I see it, from doing a little reading a little on it Huawei is "claiming" that it will take the place of the ART (Android Run Time) compiler that exists on all current Android devices. Since ART is a core part of Android it really can't be easily replaced by Huawei. Also from what I read, this "compiler" would also need to be implemented on the developer side of things as well which would effectly double the work of app developers. So unless Huawei is planning on their own fork of Android with their own app store (and paying license fees to Sun Microsystems who owns Java) they are pretty much blowing smoke out of their a**.
Here is a release schedule for my c185. Easier to wait 1 more week
The way of finding whether ARK is included in the new emui:
1. root
2. locate to root (/) by root explorer or any similar explorer app.
3. check whether there is a file which name is init.mygote64.rc
4. yes - your system has ARK compiler integrated
no - no ARK compiler
P.S. ARK compiler hijack the normal zygote64, so it might need every app developer manually integrate it.

I read somewhere that Huawei still using F2FS, they just integrated the EROFS on top of that.
Looks like a misleading in part of huawei.

Yes i saw it in devcheck app in my mother's p30lite in emui 9 it wqs ex4 but after update to 9.1 it became f2fs (i hope they use schudiul governor in mate 10 after update ots far more efficient than interactive)

Yes but huawei intruduced it like a replacement to f2fs, ot just an exaggeration on their part.

Data is still using f2fs. None of the other partitions have used F2fs, so it's not a replacement for f2fs. Difference now is that they are read only. But you could unpack image, modify and repack using Erofs mkfs binary. Until you update next time and you have to do it again...

It would be a good start to inspect a Chinese firmware AND inspect an international firmware.
I doubt it would be encrypted...pretty sure that's illegal as Android is open-source

As @winxuser said "I have kernel source but I'll have to make a device tree.."
It will be done I'm sure as he seems determined to find a solution for custom ROM. A tall task, but anything is possible.
I came from Samsung A5 (2017) and it took a long time to get that going.

So you don't have the actual stock image for this phone if you do I'd really appreciate it if I can get it from you. And I guess I don't understand what you're saying are you telling me that I need to upgrade TWRP or you use that and that's what bricks your phone. Thank you in advance
