Okay so I thought it was my Wifi but I think it's this tablet.
I can't connect to my phones hotspot or work Wifi. Says "authentication failed" when I'm 100% I know the password even tried QR scanned too.

Hi I just got a galaxy s3 and i cant seem to connect to my wifi. ive entered my ssid and password but it still says not in range and im not sure how to save my password as it is always unchaged in the password field is it like that? sorry im new to the scene and its really annoying me. and one time it seems that i was making progress but it turns iout it has problem with authentication: Error: Authentication Error Occured. I can connect to wifi using my iphone just fine. does it have problem conneecting to hidden wi-fi cause thats how my wi-fi is configured
Found solution:
UPDATE: I just deleted the network and just manually entered everything, with SSID broadcast off on router, and my SGS3 connected. I am assuming if you connect when SSID is broadcasting then the phone expects it to always be broadcasting, which is the reason the phone was disconnecting after SSID broadcast was turned off. All working now thanx to everyone that chimed in. Symbianblack I hope you got yours working as well.

having issues. wifi at home works with no issue.
no rom installed. stock 4.04 updated to 4.1.2.
laptop connects fine, so I know the wireless works otherwise.
tried wpa/wpa2 and tkip/aes. nothing. also with no auth.
when I turn on wifi, it says the ssid is 'saved, secured'
yet when I click on it, it offers for me to forget or connect.
when I click on connect it just sits there.
I turned off the at&t wifi as I saw in other posts, but still nothing.
Our work WiFi is secured with 802.11 auth. While my N5 and N10 never had any problems connecting to it, the N9 has. It just tries to connect, showing "Connecting..." and then aborts. I can't get any connection to that network.
Using normal shared key networks, like at home or my portable hotspot, works fine.

I've had the same trouble. You may be experiencing issue #78702 in the Android bug tracker (I can't link it yet).
Hello - Have been running XtreStoLite rooted for months now on my SM-G900T. About a week ago all of my known Wi-Fi connections would stop working sporadically. When I take a look at whats going on, my phone says there is authentication issue (password is wrong). It would seem obvious that this is the problem but I know this is not the case when connected to the few Wifi networks I consistently use, because I would have to be the one that would change the Wifi password to connect (I haven't changed it). Also, it may work normally anywhere between a few seconds to a few hours, then bam, out of nowhere I'm disconnected due to authentication problems. Where I'm at now is that there is something wrong with my S5, causing it to send the wrong password credentials. Even if I forget the connection and re-enter credentials it will fail, no other devices have this problem on these Wifi networks. Does anyone have an idea where to start troubleshooting now?
I'm on STF-L09 8.0.0.364 and everyday I use mobile hotspot with no problems. Few days ago I tried to use Device List feature to allow only Allowed Devices to connect on my hotspot. After trying this, my PC and iPad couldn't connect anymore to my hotspot. The network appears by default but iPad shows "wrong password" and PC shows "Can't connect to this network". I went back to last configuration but with no success. I have already tried to change network name, password and authentication type but none of the attempts worked. Does anyone have an idea of what to do or know a way to get the mobile hotspot settings back to the original?
Same here.
For no reason wifi hotspot stopped working.
I tried to reset network parameters, to switch between wifi 5GHz and 2.4 GHZ (as found elsewhere), no result.
I installed last update (STF-L09 8.0.0.368), but hotspot still not working, can't connect any device to it.
Any clue ?
Dear User,
again go to hotspot>> device list>>select allow devices to "connect as all devices". Then disable and re-enable hotspot and again try to connect, try to reconfigure wifi in ur ipad, laptop and all. its working tried as u said with my device
I did that once, didn't work. I did it 2 or 3 times more, then it finally worked !
Hotspot is really instable : after some minutes of use, I had to do this again .
But thanks for your help.
It seems like enabling and disabling the Device List turns the Hotspot working back. But every time I want to use Hotspot, I need to do it again. The functionality really is unstable.
