[Q] Who owns aosp source code???

i have always been under the impression that aosp is android OPEN SOURCE project..therefore anyone can use it, you shouldnt need "permission"..just proper credits....did anyone get permission from google to use the code in the first place? So could someone please explain to me who the hell owns this code...thanks
Firstly, I'm not a lawyer so if you use the source code for Android, make a million dollars, and Google comes after you, don't come to me.
Now that that's out of the way, in open source projects, the source code is usually owned by the author. For example, if someone decided to make an alternate version of an open source project, he/she would own that code.
But owning the code doesn't mean someone can do anything with it. The thing that makes Open Source code open are the terms of use, or license that accompanies it. Most open source licenses describe (among other things) that people are free to do whatever they want with the code as long as derivative works follow the same license, include the license text and are also made available in source code form.
But this is just a general explanation of common open source license terms. For more details, have a look at the license that ships with the Android source code. Since it can change you're better off just delving in and reading it.
Enjoy,

As Android is built off of Linux and filed with the GPL2 license that would be your best option. As for permission being asked that is an XDA rule as it is respect which is very lacking as of late. Also the reason for developers holding the best stuff to themselfs and other respectable developers that know what real development is. Using the work of others and adding a theme is not development neither is kang builds. Far too much of this going on.

I want to buy source code of existing Windows Phone app

Hi,
I am freelancer and WP developer myself. I have several clients who want to have own WP app (because I told them that Windows Phone is a cool platform which it really is). But I do not have time on these projects because I am currently working upon other projects. It is simpler for me to buy already existing app, white label it, add new features if required, etc and sell to my clients.
That’s why I want to buy source code of already existing Windows Phone app. If you already own Windows Phone app with source codes and rights on it then I am ready to buy this app with all rights.
It does not manner what kind your app is.
If you are interested then please send me following stuff (optional):
1. Screenshots of app
2. Links to WP Store if exists
3. What is your price for this app
4. How many downloads per month this app generates (or any another rough info about downloads stat)
I will analyze this info and will probably buy your app.
Many thanks!
P.S. Sorry if I posted in wrong thread. I wanted to post this message in more specific subforum (for Windows Phone developers) but rules of this forums does not allows me to do this because I am noob.

Well, there are many free app generators out there... you may want to try FollowMyFeed
Microsoft already has uploaded many source codes for apps, f.e. Weather forecast.

How to make it impossible for others to get your source code

The Android development team is very important to have a good creative . The good creative can give the huge benefits to the development team. Especially for new Android app development team, Very important ! But pirated Android applications appear, one in which ideas fall through. How to make Android app piracy does not occur, is the developer of the first task.
Whether individuals or companies, from idea to development and subsequent market promotion.it is difficult to develop Android applications that need to spend a lot of manpower and resources,If it is, being decompiled, stealing the core source code, code embedded advertising and charging Android application. So all the efforts were in vain.
But now there's a new Android application source code encryption to appear ——ijiami(Love encryption)
This technology is available for Android application, encrypted protection: Do not need to change any source code, there is no SDK, and does not affect the user experience, and shields to prevent decompiling.
This not only protects the Android developer's interests, but also to protect the interests of the users.

[FREE, OPEN SOURCE] BLEConsole

It's not a phone app, even not an UWP app but still WinRT app, BLEConsole.
Initially it was created (by me) for company where I'm working now, but after short conversation with my manager (he gave me permission), I published it on my personal github account (this is much easier than going through all bureaucratic procedures of a large company ), so enjoy: https://github.com/sensboston/BLEConsole
It's an unique (I believe so; if you'll find something similar please let me know) console app allows you to get a control of BLE devices via stdin/stdout. You may use it in batch/powershell scripts by any manner. BLEConsole extrimily useful for developers, hardware engineers, technicians etc. and so on.
App is free and open source, released under MIT license (I personally hate "GPL hell"!). But don't forget to star it (of course if you like it)
P.S. Binary release is signed by my personal code signing certificate issued by CERTUM (I paid CERTUM $28) but still have an issue with MS "smart filter". If anyone has experience how to deal with Win10 code signing (and CERUM certificates) please contact me.

Open Source: to publish or not to publish my android app?

Dear friends,
some time ago I developed an android app based on a cloud service on my hosting where I store private information about the user (like email, drugs, name, weight...).
The app has few active users so far, I'm not updating it anymore because I lost my interest in my baby (yes, seeing it didn't flight made me loosing interest in develop) but it's really well done and well structure I would said.
The problem is that I'm not a professional dev and I know quite for sure it has important security falls all around the code (both in the app and in the server).
I was thinking of making it available on GitHub the source code of the Android version (the server version would be extremely dangerous I guess) but this would reveal how the server side works (more or less) and reveal eventually security falls...
I guess this would make a bit of advertisement on my app (I guess it's the only type of app going open source), but I'm quite worried actually on how it could go.
In the worse of cases I would need to shut down the service and set offline the app once forever, but it's a kind of my baby and to know it is still available makes me a kind of "satisfied" about my "baby".
What would you do guys? I know you will scream for "make it open source as soon as possible!", but I'm concerned about the points I wrote.
Thank you for arriving till this point reading
