Android 11 and battery duration - Moto G9 Power Questions & Answers

Has anybody noticed a significant decrease in battery duration after the upgrade to Android 11? It used to last for 2 or even 3 days, but now it hardly reaches 15 hours.
If i am not the only one, I will check with Motorola whether the issue has been reported (and if they plan to do something about it)...
Cheers

Battery drain under Cyanogenmod 9

Hello
I am experiencing high battery usage on my Galaxy s2, and notably since I went on CM9 a few days ago. In Idle mode, it does not seem particularly terrible (I lose c. 1%/hour, while having 3g on all the time and 4 acc. on sync/exchange). I am particularly losing under usage. During the day I lost 10% by only listening musing for less than 1 hour. Android OS is high (as much as screen). Let me know if I can conduct any particular test to understand the issue.
I have not flash Kernel, I heard flashing Siyah might help ? Is it compatible with CM 9, and which precaution should I take doing this (have never flashed Kernel before).
Thanks for your help
If anyone has an idea I need it deeply as my battery issues are worsening... I'm enclosing a snapshot of the battery page
1% per hour, 3g and sync on? Count yourself lucky man that's good!

[Q] Battery Life ICS vs GB?

Just throwing this out there, I have played around with a few of the ICS roms, using safestrap installs, to retain the back to GB option. I have found that I get about 50% less battery life on the ICS roms. On an average day I use my phone moderately, past two day, back on GB, at around this time of day I am at about 60% battery. While on ICS leaks, I was at about 30% with similar use throughout the day. Anyone else have such a stark difference with ICS?
You have to give it at least a day to settle in. I get better on ics.

I have stayed on the Roms for several days(a week on first round of trying them out) and still much worse battery life. You are on the GSM Razr? I am on CDMA, you know of any difference with radios that would cause the difference? Generally have LTE off both GB and ICS.

Doesn't this just adjust the vsel levels like the froyo over/underclock programs?

My battery is slightly less on ICS, but not dramatically different. I can confirm it's not my usage or imagination either. Battery stats show "Android OS" is using 5-10% more than it did with GB.

if you go into your battery usage youll see that your screen is using 50% or more of the battery. there are battery issues and moto knows about them, im hoping they will fix this, ive read articles that they are gonna fix this bug before releasing the ics to the public.
my battery is the exact same way on ics, i hate it, but since i got a maxx now i could care less. i accidentally deleted my screen shot of the battery usage. and if you look at the ontime of your screen youll see that it is a 5th of the ontime of phone, (at least for me it was)

ICS OTA has been going out in stages all day today in the U.S. ...But yes I agree. There is some kind of battery issue.

I was a bit hesitant to agree about there being a battery issue, until i was satisfied that id had enough time with the ROM.
But the truth is in the pudding so to say... I am able to make it through the day but i am getting at best 2/3 the amount i was on gingerbread.
9.5 hours of battery, 80% of which was taken up by screen time of 4hrs.
Yesterday i was convinced battery was fine, today i know there's something's amiss

I have found the exact opposite. My office gets horrible cell reception and my phone was constantly trying to connect on gingerbread. It would always show the kernel as using the majority of the battery. Since ICS my phone rarely drops connection and my kernel now barely consumes any battery. I'm making it until five everyday with 50% battery left while with gingerbread my phone was always dead by five.

At first, I thought maybe I was just using the phone a lot more than usual after I installed ICS. But after 5 days now, I know it isn't my usage.

I was in the soak test, 1st I got the standard email getting everyone's opinions of the soak. Then yesterday I got a 2nd email from the MFN for a 2nd survey. This 2nd survey was all about the battery life. So, yeah, Moto knows that there are some issues with decreased battery life. I've noticed a decrease in battery life. Even so, I'm still happy with ICS. Most of the issues I've noticed have more to do with apps than ICS itself. Some apps, when I want to go back a screen, it instead takes me all the way out. Even the XDA app does this. Anyone else notice this issue?
I'm not 100% sure what the cause of the battery issue is.
In my case, on GB I would could typically go from about 6AM to 4PM before I would need to charge it again on a normal Droid RAZR. On ICS, at first I could only go for only about 2-3 hours before experiencing a 50% drop in power - meaning only about 5 hours before needing to hit the charger. For this reason, and other issues, I opted to perform a Factory Reset. It solved the problems I experienced, including my battery issue. On ICS, I can now go from 6AM to 6PM with a battery meter reading of 50%. Translation - for the first time with this phone and normal use (for me) I can go all day without having to worry about a charger. So, this is a huge improvement. But it did require a Factory Reset for me to get this level of performance.
I would like to be able to say the same but.... I did a factory reset before and after loading ics.

Just curious, when you installed, how did you go about installing/reinstalling your apps? When I did the reset, I just let Google Play do it automagically for me. It got me about 90% there. There were a few things I needed to add and configure. Also, I stopped using another launcher and just went with ICS. I don't know if those are differences that might make a different or not.
I actually did not let google restore anything. I wanted a fresh base to work off of. Installed from market one at a time.

Actually the first china leak (120) gave my battery a lot more usage time, significantly.
But when i switched to MIUI rom my battery life significantly dropped down, every minute of usage=1% of battery .
Try to use the stock rom for a couple of days,at least the stock leaked china rom has very good battery life for GSM devices .
I've had ICS for a week now. At first my battery didn't lady add long. But after a few days and a FDR it its lasting longer than it did on gb.

Mate 20 Pro - Strange Battery Problem

I have a problem with the battery of my mate 20 pro.
I had 9.1.0.358 on my phone.
Then, i have updated to android 10. (+ formatted phone). I waited for 2 weeks. But battery life was terrible.
So, i have returned back to 9.1. (+ formatted phone).
I have been waiting for 2 weeks.
But battery life is even much more worse now.
What should i do?
Should i go on with 9.1 , or update to adroid 10 again?
My only criteria is battery life.
Otherwise, there is no significant difference between 9.1 and 10 for me.
Please help me !
Thanks
The same thing happened to me so in the end I decided to go back to EMUI 10. Battery life is not horrible but it's not good either.
I really dont know what to do..
Give it some time maybe it's still optimizing itself.
Is it better to stay in 9.1 or go to android 10, for BAttery life.
Your opinion?

Go to Android 10, I've have heard version 10.0.0.182 has solved the battery problem.
Batterylive is on my phone terrible too, after Update to 10.154 .
Now im on 182 baut After 2 days the batterytime is terrible. I dont know what i can do. On the 9.1 the time was Perfect...
Which version of 9.1 was the best?
found i was missing notifications while gaming on 10.180 too
I am on 180 an my battery life is amazing as before. I have disabled the powergenie, I did that on version 9 already, abd I have always had very good battery since then.
I get around 10 hours SOT.
Maybe you should try to disable powergenie?
What do you mean with "Powergenie"?

You will lose the ability to see app battery usage. But you can use any 3rd party app to see that
Did you disable any other apps and services
And what Can I understand under this Powergenie and who can I find this?

Redmi note 9s battery app suddenly updated and it's messing usage status

Hey guys
Since I bought the device the battery usage was accurate and was working fine, until suddenly like a week ago the app seems to have updated because it looks different now when you go into battery settings and also usage status is weird and messed up. I think that it's getting reset every 24 hours instead of every time I charge because when I check SOT it's always very low compared to my usage
anyone facing the same issue? anyway I can change it back to how it was before?
You are correct, only last 24h are shown, so stats are pretty useless... I already reported this bug.
The sad thing is that they say they don't have time to fix bugs as they are working on MIUI12, but they add more bugs to the working things...

People who got MIUI 12 are already complaining of bad battery life. We don't want the MIUI 12 update, we just want our battery app back as usual. if it aint broken dont fix it.
I just regret buying xiaomi man.
I agree.
You said that people with MIUI12 have issues about battery life, to think evil with this bug it's harder to get correct and comparable data about battery life...
I have created a feature request thread on Xiaomi's community forum this issue (it should be a bug instead...), please vote here https://c.mi.com/thread-3285998-1-0.html

Crazy Xiaomi, how to ruin an App in one quick change, I don't think it is likely they will revert back to the battery app that was actually quite good anytime soon, so as requested by 7mada has anybody found a way to revert back to the previous App?
Go into apps , locate security, uninstall updates at bottom and battery goes back to old version

Is the battery app related to security app? Does reverting the updates affect anything else?

When I did the security update it also changed the battery app so I guess yes, on uninstalling the security update the battery app reverted back, security still seems to work as per normal

Revert back to Android 10

Hi, I was wondering if there is a way for me to downgrade to Android 10 as since the update, the battery life has drastically reduced by 50%. Previously, I was able to get 2 whole days plus a little bit out of a charge, and now I must plug the phone in every day. I know the cause is Android 11 as the change was immediate after the update and the phone is only a few months old. Any help would be greatly appreciated and have a great day.
Yes there is. Go to the restore factory post.
