Hi, when going from stock (fastboot) to this, which other images do I need, and where should I get them? I can see that the (old) guides mention flashing a "vbmeta"?

### What is Treble? ###
https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2017/05/here-comes-treble-modular-base-for.html?m=1
I'll keep the technical details about treble away from this thread as it has been covered by xda already.
If you want to know more about that visit here : https://source.android.com/devices/architecture/
Treble is everywhere, so why shouldn't x2 join it?
I'm proud to announce that Le Max2 will now fully support project treble and you can flash Generic System Images (GSI) and even Android P. Exciting right ?
You just need to follow the instructions mentioned and you're good to go.
## How we did it? ##
You might be wondering how I managed to get treble support...
NO, I didn't repartition the phone so you shouldn't worry about bricking the phone unless the directions were not followed properly.
There is an empty and unformatted partition in the phone called "last_parti" with a size of <589mb> and I converted that to our vendor partition, similar to how OnePlus devices were able to achieve teble support without the need to repartition.
You may doubt that that you will still be able to flash stock eui rom, but yes u can and we have tested it. If you encounter any error no 7 during eui flashing? Please switch to a non-treble build of TWRP or just delete block checking in update-script.
If you have any difficulties? You may join our telegram group for help :
https://t.me/joinchat/HFzBDlHXN-52-GZBg7725w
## Things you'll need to download (instructions are below):
New method :
1) Treble supported TWRP : New one by @GalaticStryder https://drive.google.com/open?id=1mx-uGryLXiIR7fDSDL4iBPdXhd7qLHjQ
2) Treble supported builds can be found here : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=5862345805528055916
Previous method :
1) Partition creator zip : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=5862345805528055960
2) Treble supported TWRP : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=5862345805528055961
3) Treble supported builds can be found here : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=5862345805528055916
Let's trebelize your x2 shall we?
**Important: Instructions are absolutly clear, so please carefully follow the steps as written below. I shall not be held responsible for any bricked devices. You do this on your own risk.
New method :
1) Flash the Treble supported TWRP. Again there are multiple ways to flash TWRP like
Use TWRP and flash the new recovery as an image in the recovery partition.
Use fastboot on the computer to flash the recovery image.
If you have root access then you can use an app like Flashify to flash the recovery.
2) Reboot to recovery to ensure the treble version is launched.
3) In the "Advanced" menu please click and swipe on "Treblelize"
4) Try to wipe vendor partition. If Treblelize worked? It should wipe without errors.
Optionally, you can also try to mount Vendor partition to see if it mounts without errors too.
4) After completing 1-4 your device will have vendor partition but it won't be ready to flash GSIs. For being able to do it goto step
5) Wipe system, cache, dalvik cache and data.
6) Flash the AEX Treble ROM which you downloaded earlier.
Previous Method :
1)Flash the Treble supported TWRP. Again there are multiple ways to flash TWRP like
Use TWRP and flash the new recovery as an image in the recovery partition.
Use fastboot on the computer to flash the recovery image.
If you have root access then you can use an app like Flashify to flash the recovery.
2) Reboot to recovery once flashed. (Even if u flashed through twrp ,you should reboot to recovery again)
3) Flash the partition creator zip now. After flashing it it might show an error about cannot mount /vendor, ignore it and go on to
the next step.
4) Click wipe on TWRP homepage, select vendor and uncheck all other partitions and swipe to wipe. Nice you have successfully
created vendor partition.
optional. You can check if you are able to mount /vendor partition from the recovery.
5) After completing 1-4 your device will have vendor partition but it won't be ready to flash GSIs. For being able to do it goto step
6) Wipe system, cache, dalvik cache and data.
7) Flash the AEX Treble ROM which you downloaded earlier.
Bingo! You have successfully trebelized your x2!
Time for some DO NOTs
1) NEVER wipe /vendor. If you do that your device won't work with any GSI. (u should wipe vendor only if u flash non treble rom )In case you accidentally wiped it you can flash AEX Treble rom to get it back. I might provide a vendor.img but don't think like doing it right now.
2) NEVER install A/B GSIs. Our device is treble enabled but doesn't have an A/B partition structure. Le Max2 support A only GSIs.
Instructions for flashing GSI of any Rom
1) Download a GSI from here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development
2) If it is in a zip archive, then please unpack it.
3) You can find instructions here : https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-generic-system-image-project-treble-device/
and reboot

Congrats to all devs involved
I am unable to understand anything. So dumb.
Pro3 users come to congratulate. How do I admire it! With the same CPU, zl1 can't use Android P.
It's a new way of life Thank you all.
This really works nice, and very easy process,. I am running the AEX treble ROM at the moment, but tried the P gsi for a while - it booted up OK and runs, looks nice, but has a message on boot saying there is an error with the device, and has a notification that the P system is updating that never seems to complete and so you can't log in to google account or complete phone set up.

This is exactly what I was hoping to see, just picked up this phone and can't wait to be rid of ColorOS. Is there a solution available to flash Android 10 on this device? I'd be happy to commit a donation for getting Android 10 working smoothly on this device with full camera support.

Would also love stock Android or oxygenOS. Full camera support while keeping the super macro mode. I'm not sure if that's a feature on other phones but really like it. At 50% battery as I type this with almost 9 hours of use and lil over 4 hours on on screen time. Best battery life I've had in a phone and to top it off or charges incredibly fast.
Did anyone test this? If twrp works, then it will not be far from getting a few custom roms for this device. I really hope this works since if it does, I'm buying this phone immediately!

That's great , but I'll just wait for xda 's method to be sure. I hop we can get custom ROMs soon. Ported oxygen os or AEX would be great. That Color OS is not good. I am experiencing some notification and permission bugs now.
Just tried, and the phone won't go in bootloader mode. The 'adb reboot bootloader' do nothing :/

Very good for Beginners. ▼
For ADB
https://android.tutorials.how/adb-commands/#adb_devices_command
For FASTBOOT
https://android.tutorials.how/fastboot-commands/
Update.
New build is up.
Version 6.
Fixes error 7 while clean or dirty flashing.
Backup migration now works.
Cheers.
Thanks guys. Made small instructions video for the absolute noobs (me included).
Tools used: https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
Instructions on adb commands and flashing:
1. Bootloader Unlocked
2. Download the latest Orangefox boot.img from first post and put it into a dedicated folder in your computer.
3. Go to the folder where you have put the Orangefox-file. Now open a command window inside that folder. To do that hold together "Shift + Right click" on any empty white space inside the folder and then select "Open PowerShell Window Here" or "Open Command Window Here" (depends on your pc).
4. Enter fastboot mode by holding together "Volume Down + Power" and connect your device to your computer
5. Enter the terminal command in command line: >>fastboot flash recovery OrangeFox-R11.0_6_Alpha-Unofficial-surya.img
(Needs to be exactly as the name of the file, in case developer uploads new version with new name)<<. Attention: Do not restart your device otherwise Xiaomi's original recovery might overwrite Orangefox!
6. After, device will reboot into Oangefox recovery.
Video Tutorial: https://youtu.be/E7fl_02Kgc8
I had also downloaded the latest Magisk zip (not Manager) from here: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases and placed it into the device before flashing Orangefox, so that i flash Magisk directly from recovery (as we left it above), in order to ensure it will not lose Orangefox installation after reboot.
In case it does not automatically reboot, hold +VOL + Power Button in order to reboot into the new orangefox recovery and install magisk zip from there ( do not forget to have it downloaded somewhere on your device before initiating the procedure)
Thanks everyone, especially OP for his contributions!
Factory reset /wipe prevents userdata to be decrypted? For twrp after you do a factory reset you have to format userdata even without password/pin inside the OS.
Can i backup persist partition with this recovery?
Hi!
I'm getting the error "Failed to map file" while I try to flash Magisk in this recovery.
Any help?
Hope this recovery will be official soon ! I don't know why there is no stable built yet of twp or yours ! I'm waiting for it to flash !

Sorry for my english.
Hi everyone, this is the first time I am compiling a ROM.
It's just a test, as it seems to work I decided to share it with you.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Instructions:
Before you flash the images, make sure your device is unlocked through Sony’s unlock boot loader service and that the device is in Fastboot mode.
- Download the vendor image and flash first:
https://developer.sony.com/file/dow...es-for-aosp-android-11-0-kernel-4-14-yoshino/
- Unpack the vendor zip file to obtain the vendor image;
- Connect the device to your computer in Fastboot mode, by pressing volume up while inserting the USB cable. When the device is in Fastboot mode, the LED on the device will be illuminated in blue.
- Flash the vendor image by entering the following commands in a terminal window:
fastboot flash oem SW_binaries_for_Xperia_Android_<release version>_<platform>.img
- Download ROM:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/ph3z52u2staujx6/android-11.0.0_r17.zip/file
- Unpack the rom zip file to obtain the rom image;
- Flash the image by entering the following commands in a terminal window:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img ( Don't use the recovery in this rom, I've tested this TWRP 3.3.1 found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xz1/themes/twrp-3-3-0-aroma-compatible-ultra-low-t3922527 )
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
-------------------------------------------------------------
Bugs:
- Tethering usb;
- Factory reset don't work;
- After the system is started the first time, restarting in recovery, the twrp goes into bootloop. To start twrp again you need to flash the userdata.img (factory reset) via fastboot;
- I don't know.
Tested:
- 4G;
- 3G;
- 2G;
- GPS;
- Voice Call;
- Wifi;
- Stock Camera;
- Fingerprint;
- Bluetooth.

I just downloaded the android 11 source code (40 Gb) and compiled it. So the rom is basic, it only has the main android stock apps:
phone, address book, calendar, camera, gallery and file browser.
If i try to flash it on my XZ Premium (G8141), can it be successfull? XZP is also Yoshino platform

I have tried this rom
thank you for your hard work.
In my opinion, this ROM is pretty good with almost no problems
But please fix Eraser All data (factory reset) from settings. i found it was always force closed
Too much drain on the battery, maybe because fingerprints always work without pressing power
The feature for displaying the frame rate needs to be improved because it is less accurate
a little troublesome because I can't enter TWRP maybe because I didn't flash recovery.img from zip
I will be looking forward to improvements of this rom
maybe I will change this comment after getting root access

I recommend that you only use the rom that matches the codename of the device.
to avoid things that are not desirable

Thanks for trying it.
I'll try to fix what you told me, but I don't guarantee that I will.
It also happened to me that the twrp did not start.
After re-flashing userdata.img (factory reset) via fastboot, twrp recovery started.
I assume twrp doesn't read the encrypted data and doesn't start.
Any advice is welcome.

Thanks for the Great work.
Someone who tried this rom mentioned that fingerprint works without pressing power, which I believe is really useful. I just wanted to know if it's Android 11 feature or you added it yourself?

It should be a feature rather than a bug, like AOF
Of course it's only a feature when it won't affect the battery drain or else it's a bug.

At the moment no changes have been made. I don't know how long the battery life is, I use this device as a second smartphone, and I wanted to try to compile a rom to get the latest security patches. I have to learn a lot to start making changes to the source and I have to find the time to do it. If I don't have any problems I will certainly try to keep the security patches updated.
Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

as of now, no use of flashing twrp as there are no proper custom rom, but inorder to put this ur phone should be unlocked, to do that follow this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...to-eu-rom-and-root-guide-with-magisk.4338671/

Kinda... i booted the twrp-recovery bootimage by using
fastboot boot twrp.img
that brought me back to twrp and restored touchscreen-control. In twrp i formatted the device and completely wiped all partitions, so i would have a clean install. After all that was done i returned to bootloader and used the fastboot-image to clean-flash everything. I wanted to do this anyways, so no biggy.
It's still okay to use it, but installing it on the device as permanent recovery doesn't work as long as the touchscreen doesn't work at all.. but when this is fixed, go for it.
already did all of it...

to just run this twrp, u can boot your device to bootloader, open terminal or powershell, and use command
fastboot boot twrp*.img
this will boot your twrp recovery,
as mentioned by @SanHelios there seems to be a small bug when u r flashing it permanently as recovery,
and the dev already got a fix for the same, he will mostly update the links tomorrow, i tested and it was working,
this is the file he provided, link, @SanHelios test this mate
download the above file,
use fastboot boot twrp*.img, and go to advance, and click on flash current twrp,
it will patch your boot.img file and flash the patched boot.img with twrp recovery
use volume up and power button combo to boot into twrp

TWRP is a well-rounded recovery for android-devices. There's a lot it can do, but basicly, you use it to flash/install software or images on your device. If there is a custom rom you wanna use, you flash it via TWRP, since the stock roms-recoveries only flash/install their associated roms. Apart from that, you can wipe or format your device, so it will be "clean" if you want to make a fresh installation.
In the past it was simple to install it, because devices were mostly A-only devices with a dedicated "recovery"-partition. To install it, the most common way was
- Boot into Fastboot mode, connect android via USB
- open computer CLI/Shell-window
- "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" - Enter
The Mi Mix 4 is an A/B-Device, which means that the vital partitions are doubled and there's no "recovery"-partition anymore, since all recovery-functions are parked in a different partition. TWRP offers the ability to install itsself according to the A/B-Partitions-scheme and therefore becoming the new System-Recovery. Here the installation-steps are different.
- Boot into Fastboot mode, connect android via USB
- open computer CLI/shell-Windows
- "fastboot boot twrp.img" - Enter <- Starts the system using the image
- Touch Advanced
- Touch "Flash Current TWRP"
If a custom rom ever becomes available, there's certain routine you want to do...
backup vital information and files
format device
wipe all partitions
flash Firmware required
flash rom
flash Google Apps i.e. Open Gapps Project or NikGapps if available and desired
wipe dalvik-cache/cache/data
Enjoy
