So I'm in need of a new phone. Right now I'm using a redmi note 4 with custom roms.
What I'm looking for is a nice camera for the price, good speed for at least 2 years and nice design. Also custom roms
Is this worth getting at 350 euro for the 128gb against a S8 64gb 380 Euro. There's also the s7 edge at 200 euro. The s8 is used and I don't have any guarantee that they have not change somethings (like replacing display etc)

Nice. One thing. I noticed that with most xiomi phones I owned. redmi 4a, note 4. Every one of them the camera is quite ****ty like just a little shake and it makes the image blurry.
Does that happen with poco?

Yes blurry pictures can happen with this phone. I'm not much of a picture taker and didn't buy the phone for that purpose but I have experienced blurry pictures

Does it happen offten. I mean comparing it to a s8 camera ( I know s8 has one of the best cameras around) would it be as good as 80% of it?

No not often but it can happen. It's not really a deal breaker but the S8 I would say is the better phone because it's made by a better company, has a better screen (though smaller than the Poco) better 3rd party support. Yes the SOC is older than the SD845 bit all depends on what you want from a phone. I brought the Poco mainly because it has a headphone jack, a card slot and was in the price bracket of what I could afford and didn't want to buy a second hand phone
I replaced my s8 for the poco,the camera is decent if you use Gcam but of course is worse than the s8.
The battery life and the modding possibility are much better but you should decide what are you looking for in a phone before buying it.
The Samsung water resistance, wireless charging, amoled and NFC are hard to turn down, but a new F1 still wins in my book - bigger battery, better SoC, plus it's new
If you're looking for a camera phone, best look elsewhere. Not to say that the camera is bad, but do note this does not have OIS, only EIS. So if you have shaky hands you best use a camera stand or take multiple shots (it's easy to do that just hold the camera button). I have had good shots with this phone and I'm satisfied with it (since I don't care much about cam quality, I'm after the SD845, though the shots i took were ok for my tastes).
As said, if you're gonna use your phone for amateur photog, you need steady hands and possibly a stand, but for the price, the camera is great.
If you badly need an amazing camera, look at the s8 or possibly oneplus, but the Pocophone cam is decent. You can google some shots taken by other users for reference. Here is one I took from my dim room and see if it suits your needs.

To tell the truth I might take 10-15 pic a year so yeah not much of a camera guy. The reason I ask about the camera is because I'm a programmer and need some pics of my workflow so I though might as well take them with my new phone.
I will go for this only for the reason from where I am people here sell refurbished phones without saying it. A refurbished S8 (it might be) is worthless against a new phone. Also Xiomi is kind of known for custom roms.
ps: to the one saying S8 has better community. From what I could tell on xda the s8 didn't have much compared to xiomi phones ( I compared it to my note 4)
I have s8, s9+ and poco. Poco has the worst screen of all but not by that much comparing to s8, since it can be very bright and its viewing angles are fine. The camera using the gcam is adequate, better that stock s8, worst than s9+, but again it is adequate.
Performance is better on the poco, talking about daily activities at least, is more fluid and fast. Overall quality, is surprisingly adequate on poco, and since we all use case on our phones, more premium devices like the s8/s9 will brag a bit less. Last but not the least, unlocking the bootloader does not void the warranty for the poco, but its a different case for the samsungs.

Since you mention performance, does androud stutter still occurs in flagships like poco f1? Like literally every android I had in hand (not many flagships though) has some kind of lag sometime.
Nope I would sell this for a s8 because it lacks so many features

It's screen doesn't support real hdr its just plastic looking with very innaccurate colors.
The only purpose in upgrading would be the processor.
I think the only differences in this phone is that
The official dev community and the xda community are very active like posts each day.
But if you really want a phone for pubg this phone can handle it at hdr 60 fps 720p mode. It's viewing angles and lighting are about 75% of what you would get with an oled panel.

For me, I haven't experienced any lags. I'm on pie now btw. My only issue is for some reason they removed the system option to hide the notch(not really an issue since I use nacho notch a 3rd party app to remove notch). Everything works fine for me. I can run simultaneous programs with no lags, I can play heavy games with no stutters and the rom community is amazing.
As for your camera usage, it takes clear pictures and is sufficient enough (I use it sparingly since I'm not a picture buff). I use it sometimes for document scanning and it's clear enough to show the letters in the docs. For selfie and family pics, it's nice and adequate, though you shouldn't compare it to phones who specifically target photo buffs since the main point of poco is SD845 and I can say it's fast and smooth. Though as mentioned photog is good and adequate to take clear photos for normal use
Some people say there are issues but I haven't experienced any of them at all. No touch lag, no screen bleed and the Poco team really has good aftersales since they respond and really converse with their consumers (see xiaomi forum app about latest updates with Poco and you will see they do acknowledge most of the issues, unlike some manufacturers). I'd say for the price it is a snatch and I do hope they launch more of these "flagship killers"
Almsot forgot, there is one more thing you should be wary of, the notifications. I think you already know this but notifications do not stay in the status bar, so if I were you, use this mod. It moves the clock up a bit sk that the notifications will stay below it:

I would always recommend buying anything other than Samsung but as a Poco user my advice is, skip both and buy Oneplus 6, if you can find it somewhere affordable

The screen is the first thing that comes to mind, it's way better here. F1 screen was ok for IPS honestly and if you are afraid of burn ins and want to use max brightness all the time maybe it's better choice.
Battery life on Mi9T is obviously better. I can easily go two days. SD730 has pretty much same CPU performance but it's a lot more power efficient than 845. The GPU is a lot worse, like half as powerful but I don't play games so I don't really care, your experience might be different if you do.
Overall appearance of the device is a lot nicer. It's a very good looking phone while Poco looks like the plastic brick it is with a huge notch. Again just like the display if you care about long term durability maybe Poco is better. Glass breaks and if you put them in a case it doesn't matter how they look but if you care about looks there is no contest. Glass and metal sandwich phone looks really nice. This really does feel and look like a flagship phone.
The camera is also better. Maybe selfie camera is worse, I don't really use it but main camera is really good and it can take a lot more detail and you have a fun super wide camera as well. Gcam works really well too and it's just the beginning, it should get even better. I'm very satisfied.
Overall I think it's a minor upgrade. If you're happy with poco, honestly I'd stick with it until next year. I needed a phone with more LTE bands than poco had so I made the switch and I'm happy. Installed poco launcher too and it's just a better experience imo. Maybe get the mi9t pro version for a decent upgrade but that's seemingly pretty expensive. If K20 pro works for you go with that. Zenphone 6 looks good too but these were outside of my budget. I paid $330 for 128GB Mi9T shipped total with taxes etc and I'm honestly very satisfied, couldn't do better.

I went from F1 to 9T as well.
Pros:
- better display that is easier to see in direct sunlight
- better build, less edges
- takes better pictures, videos too
- can do AOD if you prefer that
- easier to unlock imo with the on-screen fingerprint
Cons:
- worse speaker, it's louder but has less low frequency volume
- no notification LED, the one up top is useless tbh
- the xiaomi.eu rom I'm using is laggy at times, but this is solely a software issue
A wash:
- performance is the same, i ran tests with both next to eachother, as long as the storage isn't used too much, as the Poco has a faster storage
- battery life is similar for me, I was using different OS' so I can't really say
Overall I would say this is definitely an upgrade for the right price.

I use TugaBrowser for years now as I like its gestures and tabs placement.
The phone doesn't get warmer than the Pocophone, I'd argue it's a bit cooler.
One more miscellaneous point: I prefer the Pocophone case as it's a tad grippier, and looks a bit better to me. The matte case of the Mi9T hides the lovely black back completely and also has upper and lower cuts - the Poco case was more of a full phone case which I prefer.

Thanks. I'm pretty oversensitive when it comes to phone heating up so you made my choice a lot easier.
I usually use the phone caseless as I'm mostly indoors person.
I switched From PocoPhone F1 to Mi 9T Global.
I had Poco, which my wife still uses, and now I have Mi9t.
Build: Mi9t feels nicer, but it also heavier, I would say Poco is a lot easier to handle.
Performance: pretty much the same, won't notice any difference.
Battery life: the same, had some problems on Mi9t depending on the Miui version, but both around 9/10 hrs sot
Screen: Depends, amoled has nice blacks, Lcd has nice whites. Using mi9t's dark mode didn't have much advantage on battery life to be honest. Also it seems I can't completely disable adaptive brightness, while it's set to manual it also increases brightness in direct sunlight, but not every time, so I would call it buggy.
Touch: Mi9t for sure, Poco had problems with it and was never completely fixed
Fingerprint: Poco all the way, in-screen fps are just bad, and I'm not even using it on Mi9t
Camera: Mi9t has better stock camera, but if you like to use Gcam, then Poco all the way. Poco's gcam ports work like a dream, better than any other phone I had, feels like a native camera app.
Conclusion: I would say, no need to upgrade, better wait until a new phone arrives.

Agree, Zenfone 6 ticks most of the boxes for a perfect smartphone...
Just migrated from the Poco F1 to this and I don't regret it one bit. The Poco just looks horrendous with that massive notch.
i sold the pocophone and was planned to buy an mi9t pro but got scammed and got a mi9t instead. the whole phone seems better and i love the screen and the build quality but also the pop up camera. amoled is definitely better and battery life on dark mode is great. only one almost unnoticiable downgrade is the cpu and it is only revelant in games ( used to play resident evil 4 on dolphin emulator and snapdragon 845 was faster ) but i haven t played the game for long times. not that much. i don t regret switching, i can only observe there is not an immense activity in development for this phone here on xda.
I too went from Poco to Mi9T and I am generally pleased with the change. However I still have to see if I can sell the Poco on eBay to recoup some of the cost.
The stock Poco was a good phone for me and I prefer the rear finger print sensor. For my use I didn't need great processor power so I didn't notice any difference in performance between the two phones.
Comparing stock cameras then the Mi9T is better. The Mi9T has a notification LED as such but it is on the top and around the pop up selfie camera and you can only see it lit up from looking down on the top of the phone so not very handy. I like the ambient display and it's good to be able to see the time and a notification at a glance. I say notification singular, as it doesn't seem to be able to show any other notifications except for Gmail. I am grateful to have NFC capability again as I find using this with Google Pay is very convenient for me.
If the Poco had an ambient display and NFC I think I couldn't justify the change of phone to myself. At the end of the day a lot depends on what the individual needs his phone to do most of the time.

I've had every pixel since launch and, whilst the phones have been underwhelming, I absolutely love the point and shoot camera quality so can forgive the sub par hardware features. I hold a good camera above other things like screen res, waterproof, size, etc etc.
The pixel 4 is the first time I've seen a Pixel and thought meh. Yes the camera(s) are upgrade this time, but not quite enough. I would still take a Pixel4 but the reduction is battery is seriously bugging me, as my 3 is a bit limp in the battery department. But most of all I can't stomach the Google Photo back up offer no longer running. This was a prime selling point, as I'm sure any with kids knows, you take a lot of snaps! Having free orignal quality backups was really nice.
All this is leading me to jump ship and not get a Pixel 4. But what is there? Huawei have seriously good cameras, I had P20 pro for 2 weeks, but their UI is more than terrible and booloader unlock + ROM support is next to non existent. Samsung insist on the crappy SoC compared to the Snapdragon offering, plus their cameras are good but a step back compared to pixels. Oneplus make everything is awesome phones, but are alway below average in their cameras.
Just not sure really, may stick with the P3 and see what happens in the next 2 years

same, I won't get p4, I love compact phones (so 4xl is not an option) and battery life in small p4 is going to be ridicolous lol. I love my p3, just wish it had more battery life, that was the only downside and they didn't correct it in p4, actually I think they made it worse :crying: why the **** aren't they making the phone 1-2mm thicker but with bigger batteries? really can't understand, I think everyone would prefer a little thicker phone but with better battery life...
also not having original backup is incredible, have a kid here too and need best quality for my millions pictures lol.
really can't get what they are doing... other thing I don't like is the fingerprint gone...
my top priorities for a phone are compact size, great cam quality and battery life.. so considering the alternatives around I think i'll stick with the p3 for some long time lol... also considering I hate as well notches, punch holes and similar and huawei and samsung's horrible UI
Oh my lord I didn't even think about Fingerprint scanner. Just reading a review about it, no scanner and face unlock that is a bit wonky. I'm definitely out then.

So i've sold my mi8 a few weeks ago and tried few other phones:
First, i bought Samsung Note 9 - 430eur
- great phone, but a rubbish front camera, bad back camera portrait mode, no gcam support.
Then mate 20 pro - 450eur
- great camera but slow fingerprint reader, emui is a mess.
Then s10 - 510eur
- managed to endure just few days with this phone. Exynos version, horrible battery life, barely gor 3h of SOT.
Then oneplus 7 pro - 600eur
- I loved this phone, but man was it big and heavy.
So now i ordered my good trusty mi8 back. Great in hand feel, great camera with gcam, good battery life, and fasters fingerprint possible.
Is it perfect phone, no: big notch, no ultrawide camera, no ip rating or wifi charging.
But for 200eur it gives better user experiance then anny other phone.

I know what you mean. I owned Mi6 which was (and still is) a wonderful phone but I wanted to try something else. Changed a bunch of them but not one was a worthy replacement until I bought Poco f1, which was excellent, but touch problems were driving me nuts so I sold it.
Recently I bought Mi9t, but fingeprint and popup camera were so annoying I sold it and got a Mi8 which is a heck of a device, slim, light, fast and better phone to use than majority of new devices with their trendy but "pain in the ass" features (in -display fps, popup camera etc...)
Overview:
Samsung: currently One Ui is the best oem skin in my opinion, but they are too expensive, and their midrange phones are destroyed by competition in every aspect except for the screen quality. Have bad fps scanners and Exynos versions have lack of support.
Xiaomi: Best bang for buck, excellent fps, excellent support etc...only problem is battery drain on some Miui versions...
Huawei: Great hardware with the worst software...Emui is just ugly and outdated and really needs some refreshment. Also they are like android version of iOs, everything is locked, support is rubbish and you really need some knowledge to amuse yourself with some custom roms and tweaks.
Oneplus: Best of all in all regards, not so cheap anymore but they dont need to be, and they shouldn't be. Cameras not top notch but excellent support, superb displays, software etc... No matter what the price, the best.
LG: Good phones, but too expensive. V50 is maybe the best phone out there, but people are just not interested in them anymore, so the support will suffer also. Probably will follow HTC down the drain.
Nokia/Motorola/Sony: Not worth mentioning. Average at best, lack too many things....Was a fan of Sony for years, but after owning a few of them I was dissapointed. Motorola had some superb phones but they started to make same things like Nokia, midrange phones that nobody wants to buy, and I can't blame them.
Oppo/Vivo/Asus: They make some interesting phones, especially Realme who is destined to be the next xiaomi...looks promising but availability is still limited.
The only thing about which I'm not so excited is Miui 11....they messed up the system animations and make navigating the system slower than on Miui 10. I hoped it would make more sense to simplify things....but they didn't. If they don't change something I think this is my last Xiaomi device...

I completely agree! I have also owned many very expensive phones and the mi8 is by far my favorite. My son has a Samsung Note 9 and I will take my Mi8 anyday over his or his Wife's iPhone XS. No doubt, I love this phone and will stay with it for at least another year or two, and then I will buy another Xiaomi.
I have been a happy mi8 owner. Actually it's my first Xiaomi phone, and gosh, can't go back to others.
I have been tempted to upgrade to mi9 and 9T pro. However, after listening to comments from brothers/sisters here, i think i will keep my loyal mi8.

Yeah, not worth it, and it's coming from my personal experience. The only thing that's better on 9t Pro are looks (subjective)...Usability wise Mi8 is better. I even get the same battery life even though 9t has a larger battery...

So now i ordered my good trusty mi8 back. Great in hand feel, great camera with gcam, good battery life, and fasters fingerprint possible.
Is it perfect phone, no: big notch, no ultrawide camera, no ip rating or wifi charging.
But for 200eur it gives better user experiance then anny other phone.

i absolutely know how you feel, i had this experiece as well with MI8, P20 pro, Mate 20 pro and even the Mi9
Now i've a p30 pro and my girlfriend is using the Mi8. The photos of the mi8 with gcam are stunning and in some situations it knocks out the p30 pro easily (i terms with HDR)
the only reason i prefer the p30 pro is in battery life and for the reason it has a ultra wide angle lens.
Otherwise i would switch to mi8 back again.
Yes. Mi 8 is a great device. Especially with Miui 11 and Xiaomi.EU and GCam. Got it few weeks ago, but just as a spare and flashing phone. My daily driver is a s9+ Exynos with oreo and GCam and I absolutely love it. Made some GCam comparison between these phones. Almost identical but a big advantage is that the mi 8s SD offers instant zero shutter lag pictures. That's not possible with my s9+. And yes of course my s9 Gcam also doesn't offer a night mode. But that's ok. A Mi 8 with Stereo Speaker and QI would be so freaking awesome.

Yeah, I don't understand why Xiaomi cant build a phone with stereo speakers. I don't really care about wireless charging but the addition of Dolby and an extra speaker would be amazing. It's the only thing that I am missing from my old Le Pro 3, it had the most amazing speaker sound quality.

Most people who care about sound quality will use wired or bluetooth headphones.
How good can a small speaker sound on a small phone? Not to mention there is so much ambient noise? It's quite pointless.

That is your opinion, it seems that you haven't heard quality speakers on a phone. You would be surprised with how good it can sound. But of course it doesn't compare to larger speakers, with a default flat frequency range.
"It's quite pointless" What is the point of your post? Yes, I have high quality Bluetooth speakers. In fact several different types large and small. You don't see the value that is fine, stick with buying whatever you want. my point was that many phone manufacturers release phones with dual speakers. Xiaomi, doesn't seem to have any recently released phones with stereo speakers
I want stereo speakers because I play musical instruments and I don't always have the a bluetooth speaker with me, many decent quality phones also have pretty decent omnidirectional microphones, which are great for recording scratch tracks with an acoustic guitar. FYI scratch tracks are basically riff ideas, that you save and later build a complete song with those ideas. Another fun thing to do, is once you have recorded 8 bars, you can then loop it and then solo or play arpeggiated phrasing over top of the loop It's definitely a lot of fun. Stereo speakers enhance it and can further provide the ability to hear manually made effects, if merging multitracks.

I gave my 6/256 MI8 to my Dad. I am planning to get Mi 10....but I might just as well get another MI 8...not sure if MI 10 will be worth the price..compared to MI8...I do a lot of low light pics..and Aquarium pics...and MI 8 was awesome in that area.....

So i have Mi 10 for like 2 months and so far i am so disappointed from it. Mainly from camera which is not as good as i expected (in my opinion Mi 9 which i had before had much better camera and overall results from all 3 sensors) miui 12 is terrible and only good thing i can see on my Mi 10 is battery, 90Hz amoled display and maybe sound. I drop Mi 9 beacuse of super good offer on Mi 10 and i thougth it will be great but its not. Couple days ago i bought for my girlfriend POCO X3 and when i see what that phone can do for fraction of price of my Mi 10. I mean display is not amoled but panel is look so good and 120Hz si awesone, battery life is exellent and camera in my opinion is almost the same as Mi 10 wich for the price of POCO X3 its just hilarious. So i am thinking last couple days to drop Mi 10 and get POCO X3 because its just much better value.. I am crazy?!

How i wrote a down on Foto section, the camera setup is trash.The 108mp main camera cant take normal fotos, cos its washing out the background, from 5 meters too. And its ****, if i want, that everything is sharp on the foto. 13mp wide is also bad. 2mp macro ist a joke. Sreen is ok, processor is ok. Im want back my Mi8. It was a super phone. Good Fotos, good size. Fast enough.

Yes exactly!!! Camera is the most disappointment. Sometimes it nail the photo but 80% of time photo looks bad.
Here is good example. I had Mi 9 before Mi 10, photos are super sharp thanks to laser AF and good sensor. Mi 10 just focus on middle a rest of image is just bad.

The Problem is the big hype around bokeh. Now this is the trend. And when the Mi10 have a normal main camera and extra the portrait for bokeh , than i dont care about wide, cos with Gcam i can make from 9 foto very good wide. My opinion is, that 2 good camrea is enough. But now phone manufacturer racing, that who can put more camera tje backside of the phone. I hope, that trend will changes amd coming normalisation in this theme.

You guys are on crack if you think Mi 10 is not good. Like photography part of phone I never comment because I would pay serious money for phone with no cam, or some whatever cam, just give me performance and battery. And this phone does those 2 better than most phones. I don't understand how can you put Poco X3 in same category with Mi 10. Yeah 120 Hz make it feel like Mi 10 but under the hood Mi 10 is beast on it's own and this OLED screen is too notch even tho is 1080p, I compared it head to head with OnePlus 8 Pro and minor differences could be seen.

The phone hardware is amazing, what sucks is MIUI! It feels like someone made a custom rom full of bugs and lags, it doesn't feel like a stock rom at all. I had oneplus previously and their OOS is way way better!

MIUI is custom ROM, I am kinda ancient when it comes to XDA and I remember how MIUI started and we all old heads were hyped to see company take over community work and put it into their phones out of box. Now OnePlus latest updates made their phones lookalike Samsung UI, so what you had on your OnePlus is history. And on almost any phone if you like stock android experience so you can tweak and tinker it AOSP ROM was the way or som custom ROM. So the charm of Android phones is all you need to like is hardware and you make your own looks and feels out of vast majority of ROM. I know some phone lack of even Root support or Bootloader is locked forever. But I kinda cringe when I see people on XDA complaining about looks of Phone and it's software when they can tweak it and being on XDA implies you want to tinker. Just have common sense people, don't be lazy and complain.

Not my point at all! I said MIUI doesn't feel like the original rom the phone came with, which means: it has alot of problems, alot of lags, animation stuttering and so on! The hardware might be good but the software totally kills the experience for me. As for tryingcustom roms, I am currently on a custom rom, but those still have some issues. Also when I buy a phone I expect it to work all good out of the box: hardware and software. And for xiaomi this is the first premium flagship I have tried that the hardware feels like a flagship but the phone feels like my old redmi note 5(last non flagship device I had)

i'm with the others who think the mi10 camera is pretty good. what you said about "focus on middle and rest of image is just bad", well that's bokeh. REAL OPTICAL BOKEH, not processed/faked ones: something that's not possible with smaller sensors on phones typically, and approaching what you can get with much larger dedicated cameras. It's not a fault, but an achievement, IMHO.
What might have also impressed you the wrong way is probably the characteristic cold tones of the Samsung sensors compared to the much warmer (lab tested pleasing) tones of the Sony sensors. Though Samsung sensors would typically appear sharper overall even with comparable resolution, never mind between mi9 and 10. Sharpness and resolution should be hands down in mi 10's favor. Getting GCam should help a lot with dynamic range issues in difficult lighting (you seem to have unfavorable/difficult lightings for both of the Mi10 samples compared to the mi9, which were both shot with much better lighting conditions).

Trust me, its not real bokeh. I have couple cameras at home and real optical bokeh looks really different then what Mi 10 does to images.

Cameras suck man, suck big time. My old pixel 2 has a way wayy better camera(which is a 3year old device). And even though I use gcam, sometimes that is not stable, and whats the point of a 700$ phone if alot of stuff is not stable and keeps lagging?
