Question Fast charging and camera - Realme GT

Hi guys and ladies
I have a question about fast charging Realme GT 5g (and all Realme, Oppo and OnePlus devices). Suport this phone another charging protocol like Qualcom Quick charge or Power delivery? I need second charger to my work, but I don't need full 65W. About 20W will be OK.
I decide between Realme GT and OP nord 2. Nord 2 have better camera, but have Mediatek, is camera in GT realy so bad? (My current device is Redmi note 5 pro)
Thanks for reply and sorry for my bad english

I like the camera on the GT 5G a lot. And the SD 888 is wicked fast. Fastest phone I have ever used.

I have same opinion from testing photos on web. And what about charging? I read somewhere PD should be work, but last 8years I have Xiaomi phones only, so I haven't exp with BBK.

I am coming from 8 years of Nexus/Pixel and my first BBK and it is very different experience. There are some things that I miss.
However, there are things the GT does that are extremely good (as well as having a budget price) and they are enough that I don't miss the Pixel experience.

Redmi Note 2 Prime vs Redmi Note 3
Redmi Note 2 Prime (32GB version):
-Better processor clock (2.2. GHz vs 2.0GHz)
-Better Price
-Bootloader unlock (-> Unofficial European ROM available)
-SD-card slot
Redmi Note 3 (32GB version)
-Fingerprint sensor
-Metal body
-Better Battery (4000mAh vs 3060mAh)
-Dual Tone LED
In my opinion Redmi Note 2 Prime is much better than Redmi Note 3 that isn't usable because it has got a locked bootloader.
~ Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime ~
Id prefer rn2 over rn3 because of its price and its little development comunity. The only thing I like of rn3 is its metal body and better batery life (3000 mah vs 4000 mah), but for me it is not worthy.

In my opinion, you should also mention the dual tone LED flash and much bigger battery on the Redmi Note 3 in order to have an objective comparison.

I don't think that the RN2 battery will be enough for you.
We must be objective: RN2 battery life is short, compared to others smartphones with 3000 mAh (+/-).

It changes a little.
The only way to have a long battery is to avoid the use of Facebook and Whatsapp in my opinion (Facebook for sure).

Yep, hes right, rn2 hasnt a great battery life even its big battery, but it still being acceptable, it just could be better. However, i have heard in some video reviews that rn3 is even worst with battery, and there isnt any real difference with rn2.
And well, i have a rn2 with last developer rom from xiaomi.eu, and it hasnt a great battery life, some releases ago it was pretty nice, but since the last 2 versions its been worst. However, this means that the problem is from the ROM and not from the phone, and as they are getting optimized we will have better battery life, and even better when we get marshmallow since lollipop has problems with this and with RAM management.
I still thinking rn2 is better option , but you decide my friend.

It will, rn2 will get marshmallow, its confirmed, it will get it maybe in may of this year. And yep, is interesting, you should watch or read some reviews of it.
Marshmallow
The Redmi Note 2 has been confirmed to get Marshmallow in a few months.
Also, I do have my RN2 at the moment and a huge downfall is stock MIUI RAM consumption.
I'd say the RN2, bigger community and like someone said, unlocked bootloader.

AFAIK, there are no RN2-16GB-specific ROMs.
And considering that:
1. It's not possible to build a custom kernel for our phone, right now
2. As a result of 1, all custom ROMs use Xiaomi's pre-built kernels from official MIUI ROMs (which in turn, are designed to work on all versions of RN2)
..I don't think it likely that such ROMs will appear in the foreseeable future.

I'm also thinking about buying RN2 or RN3 and I found this post: http://en.miui.com/thread-202290-1-1.html
It seems that unlocking the bootloader in RN3 is possible now and actually not hard at all. Does anyone have RN3 to try this?
I have a Note 2 and I would prefer this. SD Card and removable battery are too much to lose only to have a metal unibody (that maybe will always covered by a cover)
May be redmi note 3 32GB is better ,battery 4000mAH
I have the Note 3 and regret it, should have gone for the Note 2 and my reasons are:
Pros of the Note 3 vs Note 2
- Battery
- Metal Build
Cons Note 3:
- Fingerprint sensor only has one use, which is to turn on the screen, you can't use with anything else...
- No expandable storage
- And the main one, that is driving me mad is the locked bootloader, you can unlock it, but you have to request the code on their website, but to get this code you have to wait a long time, some are saying 14+ days and you might not be selected, like if you have to be special to get it, WTF Xiaomi???
So if you don't care about the plastic build, go for the Note 2, it's cheaper, with expandable storage, faster CPU on the Prime model and a freaking unlocked bootloader.
Seems there's a way to unlock RN3 bootloader, I'll quote from Xiaomi.eu website:

Redmi 3 Pro with Qualcomm Quickcharge 2.0?

Hey... Got my Redmi 3 Pro last week, this is a fantastic device!
I read a lot about it before I bought it but there is one question left: does it support Qualcomms Quickcharge 2.0?
Read about it in another forum, they couldn't give an answer. Also there is a list made by Qualcomm about the devices that support Quickcharge, there are some Xiaomi devices but no Redmi.
Is there anyone out there who can say yes or no?
Thanks

No.
So, yes and no like always.
Well, as far as I know, the thing is like that: the soc (snap 616) does support Qualcomm QuickCharge, but the device itself doesn't, because it isn't just about having a specific processor.. It requires also a certain level of quality in all the other components (and Redmi3, being a low end device, doesn't have it)
Redmi 3 only supports the "standard" 2A quick charge.. I have never tried checking the actual charging time.. I believe it is around 2,30 to 3 hours

Thanks... The phones price tag is low end, the specs are midrange. When you look what devices Qualcomm Quickcharge 2.0 support, then the Redmi 3 Pro could also support it https://www.qualcomm.com/documents/quick-charge-device-list
Even the bigger brother the Redmi Note 3 supports it.
@MTK6589 If you don't want to answer then let it be. I'm no noob who buys a phone, crashes it and asks in different threads how to repair it. I read a lot about the Redmi 3 Pro, but that is the only thing that wasn't clear. You're very unfriendly in my opinion, don't know why!

I know the specs are midrange.. But the quality of the materials (probably) is not.. And i am talking about the USB connector, the battery, inner filaments, and so on.. Not every piece of metal is capable of tolerating a big current through it without being damaged

Is redmi note 4 worth buying ?

Hello guys
So I've been using my nexus 5x along with my moro e for few months now
Recently my nexus 5x ran into some problems I couldn't solve
So I'm now looking for new device
Is redmi note 4 worth buying for me ?
When I was using nexus 5x. ..I've been using lot of custom ROMs .. Can i expect same from redmi note 4 ?
I need notification light as well
While on nexus 5x. . if I relock my boot loader I could claim my warranty ..does the same goes with xiaomi ?
Please someone answer these questions and suggest me

If you really like MIUI, then I'd say its worth it...There's not a lot available for custom ROMs and I don't know if there ever will be. I also am unsure if Xiaomi will ever bring Nougat to the phone either, though I would expect it at this point.
The phone is pretty fast..It's the software that is holding it back...I have a Nextbit Robin with the 808 processor (Same as your 5x), and this thing smokes the robin in real world performance (And Geekbench4).

That's the story for every Mi and I've used a couple.
To me the best solution would be getting rid of MIUI and going with stock... but on Mi h/w. Easier said than done though. Ah well at least one can get the Google Now launcher and the app drawer.
I've been a 'flashaholic' with my previous phone the LG G3, and changing to RN4 is a pretty big deal for me(because MediaTek and MIUI)
You can't expect the same support since you're coming from a NEXUS device but there's a decent amount of ROMs for the RN4 here and more to come.
Stock MIUI 8 isn't bad actually, just paired it with root access, nougat theme and nova launcher. All good for me.

if you get it for cheap then yeah. TRy getting the snapdragon version for INSANE battery life. Apart from that, the MTK version shares all the same features (like camera quality) as the snapdragon one. One thing though; the MTK one charges one hour faster that the Snapdragon version. For the record, the 4100Mah Redmi note 4 MTK charges in 2 hours and 10 minutes from 5% using a 5V 2A charger. add 1 hour for the snapdragon version.

no fast charging. Without it, the 625 SOC won't take in more current vs MTK redmi note 4 which takes 5v 2A.

Yes it does.
Nougat based MIUI beta version is available. I have been using 4 GB model & my advice is to just go for it.
I have preferred MIUI & have stuck to Xiaomi handsets. Recently, I purchased Moto Z Play as Xiaomi phones were coming hybrid Sim with just 32 GB internal memory, which were not fulfilling my needs. But I was annoyed by lack of customisation, firewall, Blocklist, Call Recorder, internet speed meter & auto BackUp, which are present in MIUI & are absent in Moto Z Play. Now for Moto Z Play, I had to install a lot of additional softwares, but sense of perfection with MIUI was somehow missing. In first Redmi Note 4 sale, I purchased a 4GB variant & sold Moto Z Play for pittance.

Can anyone recommend a better phone for €240?

It's nearly Christmas and I'm looking for a gift for my mum. For the past 4 years she's been using a Samsung Galaxy s3 and has been reluctant to upgrade, though at this point it's become so temperamental that Santa's gonna put his foot down and get her a new phone
I love my pocophone, she loves the photos I take with it and I've got a chunk of cash burning a hole in my pocket. I've seen the 128 gb version new for €240 which seems a no brainer
MIUI is no harder to use than the antiquated junk on her s3 and she'll love the 2 day battery life
My question to you good people is:
I haven't been watching the other phones on the market. Is there anything that competes seriously in the same price range? I'd rather not get her anything second hand as Santa still doesn't recycle, surprisingly enough
Thanks for any suggestions
I was hoping for the note 10 / cc9 pro but I'd say other than the camera it is worse and costs 450€, like wtf. The only thing which the poco is lacking in my opinion is nfc. If she is not going to use it she'll be perfectly fine with the phone. Ah and ghost touches. Lets hope that there are no fts panels around anymore or whatever the reason for that is.
I would say the Poco F1 might be overkill. Go checkout the Redmi Note 7 or Redmi Note 8 plenty fast and also very good camera. Might be a bit cheaper and will work just as good.

If she has an S3 now she will be over the moon with the Redmi Note 7 or 8 camera, my colleague was really happy with the pictures. A serious advantage over the S3 in darker wintertime etc. Also the speed of the camera is a lot faster. You can also install Gcam on them without rooting or modding them which is also great if you want to get her into photography.
When it comes down to battery life, yup, both phones are really amazing.
I also own a Redmi Note 5 pro and to be honest and fair, the processor in the Poco F1 is overkill for what I do. The Redmi Note 5 already handles everything more than fast enough without any waiting. Click and it's there, no frustration or lag. The 7 and 8 even have faster cpu's so no worries on that front.
Just some advice if you buy for your mother (my mother has a Redmi Note 5 pro also, guess how that happened ). What I did was order a glass screen protector and some cases. I guess for 20 euro on Aliexpress you are more than settled. Giving her the phone is really nice but giving it completely protected and usable is a must and she will really like that.
Redmi Note 8 pro or Mi 9 lite
I followed the above recommendations and bought a Redmi note 8
It arrived this week
It's great! She's gonna love it!
(Unfortunately I got it from an AliExpress seller meaning I was hit for another chunk of vat - should have bought it from eglobalcentral where I got my f1; they ship from within the eu)
Thanks for the advice peeps!
Interesting to note the feel of it - felt at least as well put together as my pocophone. Obviously a tiny bit of lag noticeable here and there, but it was minimal - though I saved it the burden of trying PUBG on it!
fones €240
Realme note 5 pro
Nokia 6.x
Mi8
xiaomi A3 (but ram is only 4gb , however xiaomi Cc9e chinese version has 6gb, camera result is not so good)
y7 (amazing camera)
and ofcourse
Galaxy M30 ! (or if you can go €300) (m30s 6/128 variant is something you should seriously check out)
Go with Redmi Note 8 Pro
As i strongly believe she doesn't require anything like Snapdragon 845

Buying Oneplus 7T Pro in 2020

Hello All,
I am planning to buy oneplus 7t pro in upcoming sale. Is it worth going for? How is the custom from development support for this device ?
I know its already a year old device but if development support is good then I can expect at least till Android 13 for this device.
How is the device itself first ?

Custom rom support are not that great for 7tp.....but you will get android 13 for sure.. great phone ..better than op 8... only problem is less better camera than 8 series...and custom rom support is dying day by day... it's very unfortunate that Google is trying to take control over android security.. that's why 7t and 7t pro has no twrp with the ability to decrypt data in twrp recovery.so now it's you who has to take decision...

I bought the same model just a week ago because it was a great value today UNDER 600 dollars and it ticked all the boxes for what I basically wanted. I have a P30 Pro as well, and while I'd say it gets better battery life overall and that the camera can take better shots in SOME conditions, the gap isn't really that great. Most of the shots I've A/B with random people have chosen the OP7T Pro shots over the P30 Pro. It does get better brightness at night, but the details are lacking and seem over-processed. The P30 Pro definitely has a faster shutter.
After much deliberation I just received mines yesterday. I had a Mi 9 SE which was ghost touching on me so I had to change over asap. Figured I'd give OnePlus another go, I'd owned the one, the two, and now the 7t pro.
Really happy with the decision so far, just need to get used the massive size. Runs kinda hot tho, but that just maybe because I've been using it quite intensely for the last day or 2.
I'm happy with the decision.
I am also thinking of buying the 7T PRO or the Redmi K300 Pro ZOOM edition.
I am currently using a S8 PLUS and I would like a better camera.
I was supposed to get the S20 FE 5G but in my country Samsung only released the Exynos variant.

Haven't seen that model or used it, so I couldn't comment, but I can compare it to the P30 Pro I own. I'd say that the P30 camera is better in 70 percent of photo scenarios, but it does lack detail often. The P30 tends to over-sharpen images and smooth faces too much, even without portrait features on, whereas the OP7TPro does tend to have more noise in low-light, but produces a more accurate rendering of color and better fine detail, ironically.

Which device would you consider to have the best custom development/ROM support?
Thanks

Oneplus One! ?
I moved back to 7T Pro from OP8. It was a great decision in my opinion. I hated the punch hole. the 7T Pro checks all the boxes for me.

HTC HD2 had em all lol
I'm also looking to buy a 7T Pro but I would like McLaren international edition for use in the US. Any one have any suggestion on where to get one in the US? If I was to buy a CN edition off Alibaba could I easily flash it to the international rom?
Planning to buy it also because it has nice hardware (no hole on the screen), and supports LineageOS.

If you want a device just like the 7T pro but with far more rom support as well as extended custom development, then Id go for the 7 Pro. Both are pretty much the same device, except youd be more satisifed with 7 Pro as it has a much larger community surrounding it and there's alot of things you can mod on the device without having to deal with the new android 10 dynamic partitioning that made TWRP not fully functional on the 7T pro
Wifi + bluetooth unstable connection
I bought the phone too.
So far everything is fine - except wifi stability issues (seems to be affected by bluetooth being on).
I don't understand how this still can be a thing. I read posts about this model having this problem a year ago.
How is this possible?
I did update the phone to the 10.0.12.HD01BA and tried all the suggested solutions (reseting network settings, switching airplane mode on and off.... one thing I haven't tried is factory reset) yet the problem still persist, it's occassional, but.... I'm still kind of disappointed.
For my part I had the 7pro and now I have the 7T pro and the 2 are very good ... I must say that I still have some frustration from the 7t pro, less good battery and twrp which is not 100% functional which gave me some headaches for the rest it is like the 7pro the best device i have had, for those who wonder why i got the 7 pro and the 7t pro? Between the 2 I decided to try the samsung note 10 plus ... but what a bad choice lolll and I had already sold my 7 pro so I wanted to try the 7T pro.
I have just bought OP7TPro today. It runs like a champ. Only not so good thing is camera. But GCam blew me way. Definitely a great buy if the price is right.
