After updating to 11.0.2 I checked Netflix to see if anything changed. As I suspected, still on L3 with SD playback. We all know this phone can easily play a 1080p video.... Gotta love it. My fingers are crossed, maybe someday

Nord N10 just have not been provisioned for Widevine L1, no OTA released by OnePlus (or custom ROM) can fix it, as key provisioning has to be done at factory.

I've already asked that, which as you've found out isn't possible unfortunately but I just download all my movies anymore, screw Netflix.

I'm thinking about purchasing this device, can anyone see if it has Widevine L1 with DRM info app like the screenshot I'm attaching.
Since the Mi 8 doesnt have L1, I would guess the Poco F1 doesnt have it either.
I read somewhere that it has level 3 support. Means you can play videos to max 480p. In Netflix and Amazon prime. Even mi8 has L3
It's poor L3 as describe in this video
You think this would be never be changed? i use a lot netflix, so this may change for me the option to buy this phone...
1. It's L3 support i.e. only 540P.
2.No it's can't be upgraded because changing Widevine requires a physical connection with a authenticated computer, if Xiaomi does provides that, it will cost them a lot, they won't do anything for this.

Perhaps one of the most important points to note about Widevine is that it doesn’t charge a license fee in order to implement its protection technology. So there’s no financial reason why smartphones like the OnePlus 5T are missing out.
Instead, hardware manufacturers only need to pass a certification process. This includes the completion of various legal agreements, implementation of some software libraries, and client integration testing to verify support, among other steps. Apparently this process is designed to be streamlined for easy adoption, and all chipsets used for Android smartphones support the necessarily technologies, so it’s only likely that manufacturer oversight or lack of testing time is to blame if smartphones aren’t compatible.

Yea, I read the article too. I don't think that any of the Xiaomi phones in India has the certification, even the Android One phones by Xiaomi don't have it. There we have Xiaomi running from legal documentations, Well, what can you expect from a Chinese enterprise?

And you believe them? it has never happened before, it is not gonna happen now, these certifications are not provided over the air due to security risks. They are just stalling.

Xperia XZ2 already had the required device-unique secret key in the TrustZone for Widevine L1 support, i.e. their Stock Firmware already had L1 certification. Do you really think Sony would ship a Flagship without L1?
Only the older P beta previews didn't have the L1 support, it was later added in the July build.
I don't think Poco F1 was shipped with the required secret key, and that's something that can't be "fixed" with an OTA update.

They also said that Bleeding issue is not bleeding issue but a gradient feature that will be solved in MIUI10
They also said that multitouch issue is solved in next update.
They said a lot of things.
Did they adhere to their promise?

I checked in Amazon prime video,am not able to stream HD content... probably the same thing with Netflix...
I bought realme 3 pro from Pakistan and device is on widevine L3, is that region specific?
Am not sure about that..But may be Because ur device don't have that...But now I think since Wednesday I think so I am able to stream in full hd that is 1080p in Amazon prime video and , in Netflix I checked 20 days back...So currently am able to stream in HD in both Amazon prime video and Netflix...
There might be different versions of the device out there. Maybe a global and a Chinese etc.
Chinese devices normally don't come with L1 but L3 as they use other ways to protect digital content in China.

I've had this phone for around 6 months now and it's a great phone except for the Widevine issue, I got a big Miui 11.0.5 update which added a lot of things and I was hopeful for the Widevine update but it didn't happen.
Are we ever likely to see the certification update or is it a no go?
Hi everyone, I just bought a Teclast M40 tablet and was wondering if anyone has found a Widevine L3 to L1 fix for it yet. I tried with the file posted here but after authorizing unknown sources installation it still says me "app not installed". Is there anything else I could do? SD Netflix is ok but can't see why I can't see it FullHD since I regularly pay...
Thank you!
P.S.: the tablet has not been unlocked or anything, has stock settings/software.
There's no way? :-(
Also bought the teclast m40 and IT arrived today. I also searching for a solution.

The fix patch is only used to restore Widevine L1 certification on those devices that already possessed it before installing a custom ROM or enabling root.
The Teclast M40 was born with the L3 certification and will die with that. Certifications are awarded based on the hardware of the device, which cannot be changed.
In any case, I assure you that on that type of screen watching Netflix or Prime Video in HD or SD does not change much ...
Well it doesn't just depend on hardware since there are phones, like Realme 7 Pro, that have been dwngraded from L1 to L3 with update patches... was hoping in some software trick to make the tablet look like another device or something :-/

Hi, sorry for the late reply.
Widevine L1 certification is issued by Google.
Since certifying a smartphone by a company has a cost (which can be considerable), the smartphones of small or modest Chinese companies such as Teclast are assembled and sold with a stock AOSP ROM installed or slightly modified with proprietary applications, in order to limit production costs.
Often the Roms are not fully compatible with the installed hardware, as you can see from the M40 tablet, which has an Android Stock Rom with numerous bugs (see known bugs such as microphone, camera, wifi, brightness) and it takes several months before the manufacturer finds a solution.
On the other hand, companies like Realme (previously part of Oppo), are real giants compared to companies like Teclast, and can afford to have their devices certified by Google.
The Realme 7 pro you mentioned was born with Widewine L1 certification and following an update bug it was downgraded to L3. The problem was solved with subsequent updates directly from Realme.
To date, there is no way to give L1 certification to a phone that is born with L3. The only way was to use a modded netflix apk that enabled full HD even on non-compatible devices, but I don't know if there are any working apps out there. Over time Netflix has made them obsolete one by one...
I'm currently using a Blackshark 3 pro with Widevine L3, I heard that the global version of the rom has L1 which enables Netflix HD. Can someone clarify this?
also if thats the case, which rom do I need to flash to get that Widevine L1 to play Netflix HD?
thank you all!

your phone originally is global or cn version?
It's originally the global version. Or at least that's what the seller claimed. It's a tad more expensive.
I changed my ROM from CN to Global but it is still level 3...
I guess the conversion is not 100%
I'm late to the party, but I owned the Global version with Widevine L1 and it still was unable to play Netflix in HD which is one of the reasons I sold it after it. I was disappointed but I think if the Netflix site doesn't list it as a HD supported device it probably won't work regardless the Widevine security level.
