Currently I'm using the latest LineageOS 16.0 from CaHbKaUp (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-16-0-pollux-pollux_windy-unofficial.3924942/) for my Sony Xperia Tablet Z (SGP321) with a unlocked bootloader.
I want to sell this device now to a reseller and they want it with Stock ROM, locked and unrooted.
As my devices is unlocked I tried to use Sony Emmy to go back to 10.7 using their flashing tool. Flashing works, but after rebooting I just see a slightly black screen. No boot animation and nothing.
I also tried to use XperiFirm to download the very same Stock ROM, used FlashTool.net (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/tutorial-how-to-flash-stock-roms-with-flashtool.2240614/) to flash the stock ROM. However, this ended with an error, that it doesn't fit my device.
Now I'm a bit lost, how to go back to Stock ROM and lock the bootloader again.
Any suggestions?
Use Flashtool v.0.9.18.6 to flash any stock firmware except based on 5.x android.
E.g. flash 4.4.4, boot it. After that you can update it to the latest 5.1.1 via OTA or XperiaCompanion.
Thank you @Rootk1t for your answer.
After some days I found a little free time, to try the older flashtool 0.9.18.6 you recommended. However, as I'm a Linux user but only find Windows Version I set up a VM with a vanilla Win10. All the found 0.9.18.6 version got blocked by Win Defender and also Virus Total found multiple times a trojan. I ignored this anyway, as I'm in a VM, and Flashtool runs.
Second challenge was to find a valid 4.4.4 ROM for SGP321, because the old Flashtool relies on unexisting URLs for the XF. So I downloaded XperiFirm 5.4.0 (also some old 3.5) to find your recommended 4.4.4 which is 10.5 I assume. This also failed, due to missing server connection.
Any idea, where I can find a valid Firmware to flash?
EDIT: Found an Dutch Version of 10.4 and flashed it. Seemed to work. Next step is to update again to 5.1.1

Great, that you succeeded. Flashtool exists on Windows/Linux/macOS platforms, so it can be run natively on your platform.
If you need specific versions of Flashtool or firmwares PM me.

Hi Rootk1t,
Would you happen to have any of the older FTF files for SGP311 US? I haven't been able to find anything online beside 5.x.x. or broken links to previous builds.

Owner of a Sony Ericsson Neo MT15i, first i unlocked the phone trough the Sony website, then installed Cyanogenmod 7.2.0-RC1 trough fastboot, experienced quite a few bugs and some features missing, so currently i have installed a generic firmware MT15i_4.0.2.A.0.42 trough flashtool (temporary).
So i've been searching on google as well as on XDA forums but can't find a clear lead where to get or how to install the official SE MT15i Android and Kernel (either the links are dead because they once were hosted at Megaupload or the download speed is in bps not kbps because the files are being hosted in China) - i don't want any Super-Cool-Over-The-Top-MegaPerformance-ROM ... i just wan't the the phone back to stock ROM(mainly because i'm looking forward to selling it in the near future).
I also had an idea about creating a image or ROM from another MT15i Neo from a colleague at workplace but there are no pointers that i could find how to do it or if it would work as a stock version. I'm sure that there has to be a way to get the official updates to work - it can't possibly be that impossible... can it?

One little advice that can be very helpful in future: when you install custom roms, first make a nandroid backup via CWM.
Just connect phone to pc and run pccompanion or sus....
That will get your phone back the latest version (For your region) and your phone will be as it was "Out of the box" again.

to update via PC Companion, you need to relock bootloader, otherwise you'll get a message like "You can't upgrade because you have modified software in your phone".
Ah! So that's why it didn't work! Cheers! From the moment when i made the first post till now have had the version posted in the second post, so i only need to relock the bootloader.
Hey guys. I'm becoming very frustrated with both my PC and phone for various reasons, and would really appreciate a little bit of help...
A couple of months ago, Cyanogenmod nightly updates stopped flashing via TWRP on my device. Every time I attempted to flash, TWRP would dump the file and say the MD5 checksum was missing (which I know it wasn't). I tried re-flashing my recovery with new TWRP, as well as CWM, but neither fixed the problem.
Currently, any time I go into TWRP it mistakenly thinks I have NO operating system installed on my phone, although the phone boots into the stock ROM fine.
My phone also randomly decided to stop working with my computer, even though I have HTC sync and drivers installed. I'm assuming these two issues are somewhat related, since maybe Windows is not detecting my Android phone's operating system. What's odd however is that my work PC running Arch Linux with Android SDK/MTP/whatever installed is able to detect and browse my phone just fine.
If anyone has any tips on how to fix this I'd really appreciate it. I'm tired of running the stock 4.1 ROM, I'm not even able to update it as every time the phone reboots to install the update TWRP just dumps the file.
Sounds like you're using the wrong TWRP. If you haven't updated to the new partition layout yet, you should be using the official TWRP. It should work fine. If you have updated to the 4.3 setup already, then you need to use a modified TWRP.

I'm using the official TWRP as provided through their site for our devices. I've tried flashing it both through the "Goo" android installer and through Fastboot on Linux.
How can I tell if I'm 4.3? Or do you just mean Android 4.3 (currently I'm still on 4.1)?
Thank you for your comment

If you've never updated to Android 4.3, then the "official" TWRP still won't work for recent CM ROMs.
You need one of the ones from here: http://mdmower.cmphys.com/twrp-jewel/.
Hi All,
I have relented and admitted defeat. Wondered if someone would be kind enough to help me get my Z5C back to stock, actually I want it rooted but I’ll take a stock version right now, given how many hours I’ve thrown at this. I would consider myself a novice, but not a complete novice. I recently upgraded from Z1C, and the rooting process for that phone was pretty straight forward, however I have come unstuck trying to root my Z5C.
Using my desktop pc, I followed this guide perfectly until I got to “4. Root MM”:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/summary-tutorial-root-sony-xperia-z5-t3360515
At that point I chose “Alternative 3” and somewhere or somehow made a mistake possibly? I don’t know but my phone wouldn’t boot up.
Note: I managed to backup my DRM keys, I have a TA.img file saved to my pc.
I thought I had botched up the process and would start again by reflashing the Lollipop stock exploitable firmware, E5823_StoreFront_1299-6910_32.0.A.6.200_R2B. I used Flash Tools and connected my device in flash mode and flashed the ftf but the flashing process wouldn’t complete. It keeps hanging or getting stuck, I’ve left it for hours to complete and it never does, here’s a screenshot:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yggshdri5r6x1br/Flash Tools.png?dl=0
I thought it was my fault so made sure I had all the drivers installed for, flashmode, flashboot, Z5C, by running “Flashtool-drivers.exe” in the drivers folder and rebooting my pc. I tried downloading Lollipop firmware again and creating the ftf file again. I tried flashing the ftf, again and again and it never gets past “modem.sin”.
I tried the whole flashtools-flash-ftf process again, but this time I used my laptop and got the exact same result. I actually tried multiple USB 2.0 ports on both my pc and laptop also, but had no luck.
Anyway I gave up on rooting MarshMallow and just focussed on getting my phone functional with an operating system.
I came cross this tutorial and managed to install CM13 just fine by flashing the kernel(boot.img) and then recovery(TWRP v3), wiping(dalvik, system, cache, data) and installing the CM13 zip file from within TWRP:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/development/rom-cyanogenmod-13-sony-xperia-z5c-t3339930
As I type my phone is working fine with CM13 but how do I get MarshMallow back on my phone? Is it something to do with Sony RIC and DM-Verity? Do I need to somehow restore my DRM keys first and then try reflashing the stock Lollipop? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bix

Should be a bugged version of flashtool!
0.9.20.0 works fine for me, you can easily find it on google : "flashtool-0.9.20.0-windows.exe"
I would NOT use previous versions like 0.9.18 or 0.9.19 as suggested in the thread
If it does not solve, i could only tell you to follow another guide, and try again from zero:
please, follow the steps 1 and 2 in this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-...ck-root-xperia-z5-premium-sony-stock-t3335974
downloading latest ftf for your Z5Compact model (E5823 or E5803, look in settings -> phone info, are you sure you are flashing the correct ftf?).
before doing anything, obviously do a BACKUP

Thanks very much. I've managed to flash my phone and am rooted on MM.
I tried re-installing the latest version of flashtools v9.22.3 and used "flashtool-drivers.exe" to install the flashboot and flashmode drivers and finally the Z5C drivers and it still didn't work, and read somewhere(sorry i can't find the link now) that someone had installed all the available drivers from that list . I did that and it worked? I'm sure I've fluked this but glad it's worked nonetheless.

Thank you. I had the same issue as OP, Google found me this thread and using flashtool 0.9.20.0 worked.
I've been having issues with battery drain and recently some apps aren't notifying me so I know it's time for a back up and restore. I figured since Nougat is out and seems to be tweaked to a working version, I might as well just flash that. (I haven't gotten the update yet w/ E583 UK version.)
I'm a TOTAL noob when it comes to flashing and resetting - I rooted a Samsung previously but never modded my Z5C at all. I need a good guide for how to flash the rom and do everything I need to do to back up/restore/flash a new ROM.
At the moment, I'm downloading FlashTool 0.9.23.1 but need to know where to get an official version of .376 or .378. I am coming from 32.2.A.0.305 Android 6.0.1 unmodded and don't need to root. TIA!
I really wish there was a step-by-step guide for this. Been trying to parse steps together but: Flashtool gives me error when I try to decrypt files. (tried to get from XperiFirm but it kept erroring on downloads. I walked away and didn't get any error messages so assume it worked but maybe not.) I really just need the regular ftf file but don't know where the most reliable one is. Got one from somewhere but didn't try that one. Flashtool won't recognize my device but I might have figured that out from using Xperia Companion. Companion says my phone is up to date so I'm just repairing it from there and reinstalling my current os. (6.0.1 I guess) Still would like the latest Nougat though.
Follow this guide [Guide] How to root Z5C - the new, less painful way (using dirtycow exploit), start at step 3 and end with step 5 and you should be good. You don't need to unlock the bootloader to flash an official ROM so skip any of the other steps.
Hey everyone,
I hope i'm not being a pain in the toot for asking this, but I have the above issue. I've been trying for the past several weeks to resolve it but no luck.
I've unlocked my boot loader (worst decision ever) and installed a custom recovery; TWRP in that case. After some time I decided to go back to the official firmware. I already knew about Sony's flash tool which I tried but for some weird reason the flash tool (emma) doesn't recognise the f5122 model just the single sim variant f5121.
I've also tried to download the firmware manually using xperifirm which for some idiotic reason never worked (connection keeps getting messed up and the download fails)
I've managed to get my hands on the .tft file for nougat firmware and once I started the flash tool (developed independently by some awesome guy) it would also fail. Something about needing to enable debugging over usb (which is duh enabled) and enabling Unknown Sources (also duh enabled)
Any idea if there's something else that I didn't try/paid attention to?
P.S i'm currently running the Poison rom (found it here on xda) which works well but I've read that I won't receive any OTA updates.
Thanking you all in advance :fingers-crossed:
-=-=- first, Did you backup DRM before unlock bootloader ?
second, You can flash any x firmware with flashtool on flashmode ( search to find how to turn it on).
third, xperia firm can download well on day time, i think so because i live in vietnam and it only work between 8am to 4pm after that the connection lost.
1. No i didn't backup this thing (didn't know why I needed to)
2. I tried flash tool on windows and mac but without success, maybe I need to load a firmware downloaded with xperifirm in order to make it work
3. I'll keep trying with the xperifirm thingy
Any ideas if there's something that I missed?
1. Sometime Sony release some new Firmware and you need that backup to restore DRM key for full function of sony like xreal...
2. you miss flash scipt ( I guest) so to make it more clearly please give me the image when you flash stock rom
See that there is not ftfs fo X or X Dual on XDA. Strange.
If You cannot download it through XperiFirm, try my upload for my polish forum:
http://www.xperiasite.pl/forum/341-xperia-x/
I'm trying to add every firmware - one unbranded (usually one of the firsts which get) and for all polish carriers - for every Sony device.
There are GDrive and MEGA links, so choose which suits You better.
Excellent news people (at least for me )
I've managed to get stock firmware from xperifirm
Flashed the bastard and locked the bootloader!
Thank you all for your kind support )
