Question HSBC App - Google Pixel 6

Is anybody else having issues downloading the HSBC UK app.
I went on the play store and it says my device is not compatible
Spoke to HSBC and they said everything is fine from their side.
Could it be a setting on my phone which is blocking banking apps
Running pixel 6 Android 12 with no root

The HSBC app is working fine for me. I've not noticed any problems so far.

Did you download the HSBC UK app or HSBC mobile banking

Same issue on my Pixel 6 Pro.
Was working fine on my Pixel 4a 5G running Android 12.

Works fine on my pixel 6. Note the app is HSBC UK.

I've installed app a few days ago and it works with no issues. But now in the PlayStore I see:

It's still working OK for me on my device, but I also see that message on the store page. They must have released an update since that has broken it for Android 12?

Are you rooted? That can cause this for some apps, like Netflix.

I managed to sort it by sending the apk from the Pixel 4a 5G via nearby share

Hello.

I tried this but the app crashes everytime I open the app

It"s OK now; the app had been uppdated yesterday ! (HSBC France)

Still not showing in UK Store

Still not working for me in the UK, new Pixel 6

broken for me too - I've emailed HSBC week+ ago, no response. Guess it's time to ditch that excuse of a bank

I ended up installing the app manually through APK. If anyone is interested in repeating that, here are the steps roughly:
1. Obtain APK of the app, ideally from your old phone. If that's not available, use some apk downloader website like https://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/
2. If you used any external website, it is VERY IMPORTANT to verify that you have downloaded legitimate application before you put any passwords in. You will need "Checkey" app installed on Pixel and any other android phone that has HSBC app installed. In Checkey, locate the HSBC app. It should show various details of Signing Certificate.
Install APK on Pixel, install Checkey and compare the information on both phones - it should be identical. In my case, the SHA256 checksum was `1f3c6481453dfc5f41edfee201ddce476aa0aa605f6d8e3259c252f46a0a092f` for
version 2.39.0 of the app.
3. Proceed with entering credentials only if you have verified the checksum in point 2. That's all.

[MOD] MarketAccess.apk

I'm using the MarketAccess app with latest market version and it works flawless. I did not liked the original icon and also the fact that the icon title was not spanning properly on the screen. So I edited the original .apk and replaced the icon as well the title.

Is there any basic guide on how to best use this?
MarketAccess is a branch of MarketEnabler. Personally, I use its very basic function.
With the Market closed, I go to:
Market Access > Providers > T-Mobile
Then, I open the Market and install any US restricted apps. Once I'm done with it, I reboot the phone and the default settings are automatically restored. As I said, pretty simple and basic.
From what I understood, you did not create this, (correct me if I'm wrong ) therefore it doesnt belong in the development section

What kind of useful apps are US only?
My favorite are:
Amazon Mobile
Google Books
Google Music
Google TV Remote
Netflix
Not sure if Books are now open to everyone, they just added Google Videos to Canada.
Personally, I live 45min from the US border and I have an US address/credit card. We have Netflix in Canada but the selection really sucks, compared to US.
I use a E4200 DD-WRT router as PPTP server with US IP's to all my devices (Google TV, mobile, tablet, etc.) when I'm at home. For example, you need an US IP to upload your music to Google Music site but you can use any IP to download/broadcast Music/Video's to any of your mobile devices. I know is not easy, but is worth the trouble. It really sucks that we have all those restrictions.
At least I can get all my music anywhere, without taking any space on my mobile.

Credit is clearly given into OP, I certainly hope is not going to ruin your day.
I saw many mods posted here (if you can call my change a mod... took me 2min to modify the APK), so I think is the best place for it, since is not related to Original Android development.
MOD = modification of an existing application created by someone else
There are tons of MOD threads listed in this forum, from what I saw.
Still, if I'm wrong, please let me know what would the the appropriate forum so I post there next time.
Cheers
Mate it seems to be working partially with the new market 3.1.5
You can see the currency changed to USD but you can't see the regional apps.
Could someone confirm this ?
Thanks.
It's true. I found a trick for this maybe it's too much of a headache but if you want to use new market then what you have to do is
1. Install market access.
2. Go emulate say for example t mobile.
3. Go to settings/applications/manage/ and then uninstall the updates for market. .
4. So now you have the old market. Now open the market.
5. Then wait for some time. Since it is connected to t-mobile it will update to new market.
6. Now you can download all the apps you want with new market.
The thing is it only works till restart. Then you have to repeat all the steps again.
Big hassle I know but if you absolutely have to use the new market then this is one way. Cheers.
P. S. Simply use old market with market access and freeze market updater using titanium backup to avoid all the hassle and use US APPS.

Can you give me an example of app that does not work?
I'll test it on my phone with Market 3.1.5 and let you know guys. So far all apps worked for me, I'm in Canada.
Edit: I think I know why is probably not working for some of you.
You need an US IP address as Wi-Fi spot. My DD-WRT router is set as PPTP server and broadcasts an US IP through wireless as well wired connections. So when my phone connects to the market, it does it through an US IP. Using the VPN directly into phone will not cut it.

Nokia Apps in Marketplace?

Hello,
I can't seem to find Nokia-specific apps in the Marketplace (Nokia Transport, Nokia Drive, Nokia Maps, etc.)
I did find one but when I tried to install it, an error appeared saying that my device (Nokia 800) wasn't supported or the app is not available for my device.
Anyone had this problem? Does it have anything to do with my version of the Lumia 800 (RM-819)?
i have noticed this with carrier branded phones - it doesn't show the nokia apps in the market, nor does it appear when you search for it.
They are hidden from the general Marketplace (ie, they cannot be searched for). I have a "Nokia Collection" link which takes me to a list of all Nokia-only apps, like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Something that I've noticed is that the list may not be always up-to-date. I can search for "Nokia Transport" (or "Nokia Transit") and install it but it's not in the Nokia Collection list. Is it because it's considered a beta product?
Also, my list is longer than what tjramage's screenshot shows. I have Nokia Drive, Nokia Music, Network Setup, CNN and Creative Studio.
That picture is not my phone. I took it for example use only... It was taken much earlier this year. I also have Nokia Transport, etc in my Nokia Collection. It took a few days for the list to re-cache, but it does refresh eventually

If you're flashed a different country's firmware, you might not be able to use it. Nokia Music isn't available in the US, for instance.

I set my phone and computer region to English UK, and now I have access to Nokia Music, Nokia Transport, etc.
This is using an unlocked RM-819 from Amazon (Puerto Rico version apparently).
here is the nokia music for US variant.

[Info]whatsapp security loophole!!!

Hello guys
I started this thread to warn u about loopholes in whatsapp messenger!!!
With about 10000000+ downloads(from play store) it is one of the best cross-platform messenger.
But back MAY 2011 (about a year back) it was found that whatsapp actually sends all the details in PLAIN TEXT.
Whatsapp developed said they are working on this issue but it hasn't been solved!!!
Earlier it wasn't easy to sniff ur whatsapp conversation as it required knowledge of packet sniffing.
But now there is an app in play store to do it!!!
Yes u read it right !!!
The only reason i posted this thing here is because it's very easy to sniff conversation using that app.
DON'T BELIEVE ME???
Try this app from play store.
UPDATE
Sniffer app is taken down by the play store
hopefully whatsapp developers will now update the app!!!
Tested it worked O.O
I read my sisters Convo :O
Needs to be fixed~
tested with my bro's droid, it works -.-
suggesting an uninstall, or just dont use it for now
free version for three talks only and dont delete it
Damn we don't have wifi here :/ otherwise useful app
good job!!!!!!
Guys dats d reason i posted it here
WHATSAPP GUYS KNOW THIS FROM A YEAR!!!
I WONDER WHY THEY AIN'T FIXING IT.
I use packed sniffing methods on my coll WiFi since months
But this app is damm userfriendly and even a noob can use it.
If possible don't use whatsapp on public WiFi n/w.
i search this aplication and i search donate version, really function, whatsapp sniffer is the app
does it only work with WIFI network,, wont it work on Cellular network
Will work on shared n/w i.e. WiFi only
Application has been removed from play store.. Can any one who had tested upload here
Sent from my MT11i using XDA
Glad to hear it only works on WIFI as I don't use WIFI anywhere but at home. But I can't believe they've just been sitting on this for a year. And apparently they have or had other security issues that were handled in questionable ways. Hope all this coverage gains traction and they are forced to address this.
Plain Text?
Hi,
I've tried it between my two android devices and sniffed the network traffic with Wireshark (sent a text message in WA). Here is a screenshot where you can see that the whole network traffic was in ssl packets (except the ACK's). I haven't tried the WA sniffer yet but my suggest is that it uses man in the middle attack and if the Whatsapp doesn't verify the SSL certificate the sniffer device can scam with it.

S Health sync

I am enjoying S Health on the Gear S - love logging activities such as walking showing with continuous heart rate and maps etc. -only issue is how do you get this info off your phone? Anyway to sync it with your account or at least S Health on the phone? I use Note 3 and can detect it but app crashes or nothing happens when trying to communicate with S Health on Gear S? Is it ONLY compatible with a Note 4?
Welcome to Samsung S Hell (Health I mean). From what I read, Gear S is only compatible to sync with S Health found in 2014 Samsung phones. Even that, there are missing items in sync. Older phones have to wait, maybe forever, for Samsung to release updates to it. GS3 I have will never have S Health app.
I'm having the same problem. When I tap on Sync in the SHealth app on the phone, it tries to sync and then gives a sync failed error.
Using a Note 3.
I've tried endomondo, map my run and Nike +, but none of them integrate as well as SHealth with the pedometer and heart rate monitor.

Also loving S Health on device, also have a Note 3, also cannot sync
I don't have the Gear S yet. Hopefully getting mine in 2 weeks. I have a Note 4, and today I just got an update to S health on Note 4. I imagine there might be an update for S health for the note 3. This might solve your problems. Go download it from the Galaxy App store and try.
No update for s health yet on note 3. My guess is that I need 4.4.4 first
No update on my Note 3 either.
What version is your S Health?
When I go into "About S Health" it says
SH-V25H ver 2.5.5.051

Got this one this evening on my s5
What's weird is that when I go into Galaxy Apps and search for "S Health" or "health", to check if there are any updates, it doesn't find the app...
I have had an S Health update in the past though...
@NinjaMom - any chance you could post the apk for v3.5?
I'll try. But don't hold your breathe.
S Health 3.xx is for 2014 phones only. They are not compatible with older phones. APK alone is not enough. They are many components missing. You can hack your phone to use them but that is a very complicated procedure that also requires you root your phone. There are instructions posted on a different sub forum here.
Samsung promised push the new S Health app to older phones eventually but no timeline is given. If you want it soon, your best bet is buy a 2014 phone.
Thanks. I found v3.5 on another xda thread and followed the instructions, but it kept fc'ing when it tried to run it.

General Those wonderful inventions (Call recording)

I still remember the first bitter feeling when I learned that I could not record the calls, I felt helpless: The companies could, and can, record me but I could not record them to avoid an injustice in the future.
I had a Huawei then, now a S23 Ultra, and discovered the following marvel:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This app only took a few kbbs and added the record button in the phone menu, it recorded in very good quality and solved my life.
Now searching for the Samsung I haven't found anything similar, but I'm sure we might find something similar in some Chinese file or from some random person.
I know what you are going to tell me, there is Cube ACR (but I refuse to give permission to the connector and have access to do whatever I want with my phone) and the change of CSC region to INS but I refuse to believe that something as simple as the file I left in the photo does not exist.
Skvalex call recorder
It's free, and you download it from his website and everything just works. If you want pro features you buy the unlocker app from the play store. But basic recording features are free. And no root needed. I've used it for years and works completely offline if you want if you wanted to make sure it doesn't data.
Change csc. You can find it here on xda. No apps needed

Although the app is not available on PlayStore, I downloaded it from their official website and it also asks for full access (connector) just like Cube ACR, which is too invasive.
While it requires that for the recording I have used it while blocking all internet connectivity to the app and it works just fine without internet therefore it's not collecting anything if it can't connect to the internet

It's an interesting option, although I'm not entirely convinced, as with access to the whole phone, any command could intermittently activate internet access.
Still, out of curiosity, how do you block an app from accessing the internet?
Change csc to get it integred at sam call

I use a combination of things. I have NextDNS on all of my devices including home wifi and set as private DNS on any device with that setting. I also use tracker control to block internet access to specific apps on device.
