bootloader unlock vs sim unlock - OnePlus Nord N10 5G Questions & Answers

i recently bought a used N10 from ebay and while i checked the IMEI on tmobiles site (its clean), its sim locked.
i used @Paula2707cq awesome debloat script and was able to toggle the OEM unlock. i got the key and sent for the bootloader unlock token and hope to get it soon but i now have a question.
will unlocking the bootloader get rid of the sim lock? if not, do i have to go through tmo? i tried the phone with my mint mobile sim card and everything works but im going to wait to see if i can unlock the bootloader or im going to send the phone back. thanks for any and all help.

Simlock means the phone is locked to the network (tmo)..try what i said in other response

Even it's unlocked it wouldn't work on AT&T, a locked TMo phone(not Metro's) will work on TMo and it's MVNO just fine.

If I unlock bootloader for a SIM unlocked phone, will it require SIM unlocking again?

Hi All
Though the title says it all... Here is the problem/question:
> I have a carrier unlocked Atrix working great in India
> I intend to unlock the bootloader.
> Will unlocking bootloader bring the phone back factory settings? Will I have to AGAIN carrier-unlock it?
I bought the phone from EBay and it was already carrier unlocked. I dont have the code with me so just wanted to be sure before proceeding with bootloader-unlock.
Hope someone helps!
Thanks!
NO.
I have SIM Unlocked my phone from 4.1.26, i unlocked my bootloader at 4.1.83 and nothing happened to the sim unlocking.
SIM Unlocked never can be gone.
Is there a fuse that gets blows when the SIM is unlocked?

No. The fuse gets "burnt" only when you unlock the bootloader.
My hand got burnt when I unlocked my SIM.

SIM Unlocking phone on MIUI

hello everyone,
been out of the scene for a while, and I just sold my dell streak, however, the new owner cannot use his new dell streak as its locked to AT&T. I obtained an unlock code from them by calling them, but the streak is on MIUI and the menu that ask for the unlock number does not come up, is there any other way to do this? do I have to flash an original android firmware to it? Thanks in advance.

you said it is sim unlocking... therefore (usually) it is phone related locking... not from at&t... there should be a menu for security > sim card lock
im just trying to unlock the phone to be used with TMobile, it is locked to AT&T not sure if it's phone or sim. AT&T gave me a code to unlock it but when I insert the sim the menu to unlock it doesn't pop up

open Settings > Security and search for something similar to sim card lock... you should get something from there...
if you get nothing.. most probably the phone is network locked... my phone is network unlocked where i can insert any sim... and it does have sim card lock in case there is someone else want to use the phone and use another sim card in it...
If you mean CARRIER unlocking and not the sim card itself, you have to install a stock rom. Sim unlocking isnt exactly something that can be easily tested on a custom rom, so that's your only reliable way of doing so.
If you mean the actual sim card itself, cant help ya
anyone care to share some rom links, all the ones ive tried dont work or a whole bunch of ads come up.

Att s9+ flashing to T-Mobile

Hey guys. I just ordered my s9+ (att model) specifically with the intention of flashing TMobile firmware for use on their Network. I chose the att version because it was on sale for $200 off, and since I'm gonna trade in my s7 I'm getting $200 for that and i got the phone for $400 off so i couldn't pass it up.
My question is, not having an att sim, and no plans to activate in their Network, would i need to acquire a sim unlock first, either from att or 3rd party, and would flashing the T-Mobile firmware undo the lock or is the sim unlock not even required?
Phone is paid for from Samsung.com so nothing owed and is brand new. I don't know what att requirements are but i could buy an unlock pretty much anywhere. But if it is needed first, would i need just a sim unlock or a complete device unlock? And do i need to do the sim unlock before flashing another carrier firmware for it to work?
All info helps. Thanks!
Flashing the firmware is just another method of unlocking your phone. As far as I know, it will be useless to unlock the phone before flashing (however, I am not 100% sure).

Was told that sim unlock was at network level and had nothing to do with the Rom. So flashing wouldn't unlock it from the previous carrier. I flashed my s7 from Verizon to T-Mobile but it was previously sim unlocked. It worked like a charm and appears to be network locked to them. Device unlock all doesn't nothing and actually fails lol. Don't have another sim to test though. I'll play it safe and unlock first for the s9.

Question Unlock T-Mobile P6 Bootloader

I am coming from a OP8T. would i be able to unlock my bootloader without having to have them unlock it? I dont care about removing it from the network.

You have to get the sim unlocked. Once that's unlocked, the option to unlock the bootloader is available.
There is already a thread on this subject.

General Why must device be SIM Unlocked for bootloader unlocking?

This is regarding unlocking bootloader on T-Mobile varient. There are two observations.
1) After device is SIM unlocked modification of the setting that was greyed out, 'OEM Unlocking' will be possible..2) Without device being SIM unlocked, modification of same setting is possible by performing the ADB command ("adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.qualcomm.qti.uim")Surely the manufacturer wouldn't make SIM unlocking as easy as performing a simple ADB command. But if not, wouldn't that imply that it is, in fact, NOT necessary for device to be SIM Unlocked to Unlock bootloader? It Don't make any sense.
Has anyone tried to unlock bootloader on SIM Locked device and did it work? what happened?
I took my SIM Locked T-Mobile N200 that I never paid a single month for and that was blacklisted and account sent off to collections.
I did ADB command to enable OEM Unlocking. Went to FASTBOOT and acquired the unlocking key. I sent key to ONEplus via their T-Mobile Unlocking webpage. And Oneplus responded a week later with my unlock_code.bin file.. DEVICE UNLOCKED
So I guess this would imply that ability to modify the greyed out OEM unlocking is the only way to unlock bootloader and NOT that 'device must SIM Unlocked' as instructed in the unlocking process.. Device being SIM unlocked is simply just ONE method of allowing modification of that setting? Right??
If you use the adb command and send your IMEI through the device unlock portal on OnePlus.com, you can be bootloader unlocked without being sim unlocked.
It just seems too easy for a T-Mobile locked Contract phone to be unlocked, don't they check the Device against some sort of database or something before providing you the unlock_code.bin??

The unlock_code.bin file lets you bootloader unlock the phone. This does NOT SIM/network unlock your phone... Though with T-Mobile you're supposed to be SIM unlocked before you can bootloader unlock, we just figured out how to bypass that.
They just linked the SIM unlock to the same thing we've been using, is my guess. I'd be interested to know if I'm right, but at this point, it's moot.
SIM UNLOCKED (bought in September/2021)
It got sim-unlocked after 180day, by simply pressing "unlock permanently" without using Metro or T-Mobile sim ever. after 180day however the phone is seems out of time (outdated).
