Trying to use a generic USB endoscope camera with my new Pixel 6 & the MScopesPro app - connects fine but no image. Camera (with this same app) works fine on both a Galaxy S9 and an Amazon Fire tablet.
Anyone else having an issue with a USB camera, or if you've got a working one, what app(s) are you using?
TIA,
Steve
Looks like the December update has fixed this, camera is now working!

Whenever I plug in my 2.4 Ghz wireless USB adapter for my Microsoft Wireless Desktop 800 with this USB adapter from eBay, my tablet pops up two notifications of "USB device connected" then disappears. On the third, it freezes and can only be fixed with a hard reset (hold power button for 7 seconds).
I don't have any issues with plugging in a wireless adapter for a wired USB Microsoft mouse, wired USB DELL keyboard, and a wireless USB adapter for the Logitech MK250.
I'm using Overcome 2.1.1 and Pershoot 2.6.36.4 on the P7500.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Bump. Any ideas would be appreciated
Have you tried to see if this occurs on kang build? Overcome is great, but it's been AGES since their last update.
Thanks Misledz. Is there a non-ICS version of KANG? There still seem to be a few glitches:
Not working:
- Camera
- WiFi Direct
Bugs:
- For auto-brightness to work, lock/unlock the screen once.
- Searching for network providers doesn't work.
- Charging+freezing issues.
Huh Wifi detect works great? It works fine for me even under hotspots.
They fixed all that in the recent builds, its at #28 now with 90% of them etched out, the camera mod may be back soon, then again, who uses the tablet for its camera?

i use the front facing camera for skype calls, which is really useful. you say there is a mod for the camera to work?
OH then again Skype being the main reason, I assumed it was for something else like wildlife photography or something of the sort. Overcome has yet to come with something, but if this bother's you, have you tried out other ROMs then?
This assuming you would like to keep your camera and adhoc intact
The rear visibility out of my car is particularly poor so I'm wanting to set up a reversing camera and I'm hoping there may be a way I'd be able to use my phone to display the image from the camera. I currently use the SGS3 as a sat. nav. device and would like to be able to use the same display for the reversing camera. Does anyone know a way it can be done?
Hmm, interesting one. I could suggest that you have a cheap Ethernet security camera and use a webpage on your phone to display it?
USB Video Capture device but you'd need a driver for it.
You could use a Samsung SH100 camera maybe, that connects to Android phones wirelessly and lets you see through the viewfinder on your phone.
Hi all
I've tried a couple of endoscope cameras with the Mate 20 Pro (Micro USB to USB-C converter) but none of them seem to work. They don't seem to power the camera on at all.
Is this a general thing with the phone or have I just tried the wrong camera?
Cheers.
I have the same issue. The same camera works on my Pixel One, just not on this phone.
works on mate20 pro using an98 app

I've tried 2 different cameras, neither of them are picked up by the M20P, no matter what app I use

What camera are you using? Got a link to it?
Works on my Mate 20 pro too using the 'AN98' app .
Problem that people have appear to me to be two fold :
1) Some adapters to USB C do not work as should. Mu camera has USB micro B plug, and I bought two adapters, one original Huawei which worked both when on phone and on PC , the other adapter (a 'Goobay') worked fine when using on PC , but on the phone it couldn't even turn on camera light on. I don't know what the adapter problem is but it's there.
2) Most 'OTG' Endoscope camera software appear to work only with prior Android OS, and do not work with the one on my Huawei Mate 20 Pro , more of the Apps recognized that a camera were plugged in but had a black screen...
From what I have been able to understand then the software problem has to do with something called 'com.mainActivity.App' either in the software or on the phone..
When starting the AN98 App it has a black screen and gives a popup at start saying that the com.mainActivity.App may not work, then after that another popup asks that one 'allow the com.mainActivity.App to access the USB device' , and when that is granted then suddenly the AN98 App shows picture and works just fine - in fact it is the only app that my camera works with so far on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
The camera works just fine with other Apps on an older OS on Samsung Galaxy 5 !!!
I have an endoscope camera and also found the apps were the main issue. The camera works, leds light up but most apps just didn't show a picture. Try some till you get one that will work.
Hi just wondering has anyone got a usb camera to work with their j3? I've tried an "endoscope" usb camera and a regular usb webcam with an otg cable but neither work. With any app i've tried the camera is detected when I plug it in but either the app then crashes or just displays a blank screen. This is with stock firmware.

Old thread, but for others nowadays, my answer is that you must make sure the app supports the camera.
For years I've been using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=infinitegra.app.usbcamera&hl=sv
and it supports at least Logitech C270.
Recently I discovered that the app also supports a cheap videograbber usb stick, meaning I can get my old Olympus OM-D E-M5 connected to a big tablet and see the live screen there.
Haven't tried the app with an endoscope.
The app + C270 have worked on a Galaxy Tab 2 with stock firmware 4.1.2, but also some higher custom ROMs.
And a stock Galaxy Tab A (2016) running Oreo.
and just now I tested it on 2 devices, my stock J4+ with Pie and my stock J5 (2015) Marshmallow.
Edit:
I got curious and dug out an old long silvergray SuperEyes endoscope, only tried it on the J5, but above app supports it.
At the same time I found a small black cylindrical inspection camera with 2 meter cord. Above app supports that too
Hi. Apologies if this is not the right place for this but I'm desperate!! Well, not that desperate but you know what I mean.
I have a really good USB cam meant for connecting to an LG TV but I want to use it on my Android box. I have an older s802 box on which it works fully with Messenger but that's not my main, always connected TV box. That one is a not so old Rockchip and on that the mic works well in Messenger but the cam doesn't, saying that another app might be using the cam but I think that's because it doesn't see the cam at all. If I use a UVC app the cam comes up fine! Then I have another Rockchip box (MX10) where the cam works fine in Messenger but the mic doesn't!
I'm looking for advice on where the problem might lie. It doesn't look like Messenger has a problem, and given the cam works on one Rockchip box and the mic on the other I don't think its that either. The thing that is different in each case is the version of Android. Is it possible to install drivers on these things?
Any advice, suggestions?
Thank you.
