I had rooted my xiaomi note 10 lite global just after I bougt it (year ago or something like that). I dont have TWRP installed (I remember I had a lot of problems to install it) and I am using Magisk. By now my phone is full of data and it is screaming there is stable 12.0.3 update available. Simple question- can I update it by system update or there can be some problems with bootloop, etc?
hello ! i think you can update it, but you'll lose magisk. To be sure, i recommend you to save all of your data in case of some problem.

I recently received the MIUI 9.6.3.0 system update. My device is rooted with Magisk installed and I am also using my stock recovery (I never replaced it) and I was wondering if I can install this update safely without uninstalling Magisk. I don't have a PC to fix any damage done to my phone and that's why I am asking.
Ota never worked for me with magisk. So I always do the pain of fullrom+twrp+magisk. [emoji22]

Hi, I'm wondering if I root my phone will I be able to download ota updates from Xiaomi and install them like normal from updates section in settings?
If yes, how should I root my phone to have this option?
Will rooting my phone require me to wipe my internal storage?
Sorry if these questions have been asked before. I had a samsung phone before this. I'm new to Xiaomi and I have no clue how things work in this device.

I rooted my phone just yesterday using magisk and orange fox recovery project. Rooting won't wipe your internal storage.
Before you root backup data, system, recovery, boot , system image and vendor image using twrp or whatever custom recovery you have it will take 5 to 10 minutes to backup (mine was 13GB backup) .
I installed some random mod I found on the internet and my phone stuck on boot screen and had to restore all six of them for the phone to work again. Just data, system , boot , recovery would be enough for some situations but it's best to back up all six of them.
I don't know about the updates part since I just rooted yesterday.
If you ever want to un root your phone just scan using security and it will download the fix in the form of an update. It won't really update but the root will be gone.
I unrooted my phone today since I don't want to mess up again. I made the backup after rooting it so the root was still there even after restoring.
Just don't install random mods. Only install mods which many people tried and have an uninstaller that comes with them and you will be fine.
Thanks man.
Hi, I have a rooted Moto X4 (either 9.0 or 9.1) with Magisk (either 18.0 or 18.1). I've been holding back on updating for a while because I didn't want to mess anything up, but some of my super user apps are malfunctioning, I think its time to update it. When I update the android OS, do I just update it normally on the phone? I have TWRP installed and I'd like to flash Magisk manually to avoid any problems. I feel like it would be a good idea to save a copy of the phones current state before updating so I can restore if there are any issues. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks!
Hi, how do I keep magisk and keep my realme gt rooted after an OTA? Last time I had an OTA I updated and my root + magisk were gone, I had to make a backup of my phone and reroot and reinstall magisk. I don't want to go through that process again, and on magisk there is an option to install to inactive slot, but I am scared to try it since this is my only phone and if its bricked then i'm screwed, and it doesn't seem like anyone else has tried it. My PC was reset so I would have to get all the adb and fastboot drivers and stuff all over again and I would probably mess something up somehow. I need root because I use Google Pay often.
My phone is a Realme GT 5G converted from CN to EU, with Magisk 24.3 (not alpha I switched from alpha to stable)
after going through this:https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/ota.html I can't even do the Magisk app → Uninstall → Restore Images step since it comes up with an error message saying something isn't found
Thanks if anyone can help

for sure you need https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
After years of rooting my devices this had to be the simplest/worry free update ever. Was already rooted but needed to update..
Just did the typical Major backup (using Google and my PC) , Stock firmware , Magisk , (Magisk_ Patched boot .img).Up and running in one hour tops.
Thanks XDA!
