Hi all,
I noticed that the iPhone can convert a physical sim to an eSim, see link below. Can the Pixel 6 do this? How many eSim profiles can I store in the Pixel at once? How many active?

Thanks

I'm on Redpocket an AT&T MVNO. So you used your pixel to convert your physical sim to an eSim?

I'm not sure what the IMEIs of devices in Australia but if begin with a 99 then you can use the eSim. If they start with a 35 you cannot.
Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
They start with a 35, at least from Telstra and JB-HiFi.
The question is - is this disabled in software, or is the necessary hardware missing. The Pixel 3a e-sim works on Australian pixels.

95% it should be a software restriction and not hardware as DSDS can be enabled with Android Q while single usage of e-sim on Pie. ( i am using on Pie as single e-sim)
India gets google device directly which has an IMEI starting with 99 similar to most of other parts of the world unless carrier locked like yours.
Did you try scanning the Qr code received from carrier to see if e-sim can be activated.

My pixel 3 IMEI starts from 35 purchased from Jbhifi Australia.Error every time. Received a reply from Google support
Hi,
Thank you for contacting Google support.
Appreciate your efforts for helping me with the requested details. I've checked with my specialist to help you. Please be informed that e sim option isn't available in Australia. If the feature is supported in your country you'll be able to set up.
Please feel free to reply to this email if you have any further questions.

My model (64GB) starts with a 35 too and was purchased from JB Hi-Fi. Also doesn't work.
Google support have no idea. They initially told me, no carrier supported E-sim in Australia, then after I pointed out that Optus did, plus the roaming providers, they confirmed my Australian model pixel 3 does not support e-sim and it would NOT work in any country that supported e-sim (including with Google Fi).
E-sim is supported in Australia and it works on the Pixel 3a, as confirmed over at Whirlpool. The sceptic in me said this was all Telstra flexing their muscle. The Telstra Pixel 2 is the only Pixel 2 to not work with project fi. Pixel 3a is Vodafone exclusive, so they probably don't care.

If you want to use eSIM
Some Pixel phones can use eSIM, depending on the device and mobile carrier. For details, check with your carrier.
Carriers that work with eSIM on Pixel phones include:
Pixel 3a: Sprint, Telekom.de, or Google Fi
Pixel 3a and 3 can't use eSIM if the phone was purchased in Japan, or if bought with Verizon or Charter service.
Pixel 3: Sprint, Telekom.de, or Google Fi
Pixel 2: Google Fi

No mention that Australian versions can't use e-sim. So hopefully it is just a temporary issue.
Did you find a way to enable esim on this unlocked Pixel 3 with IMEI starting with 35?

I have a pixel 6 with a physical sim. How do I go about swapping over to an esim?

call T-Mobile or stop by one of their stores. You'll need to give them the IMEI # for sim slot 2. They'll assign a new virtual SIM to your phone and then you'll be able to remove the physical card.
I have tried other forums and I am getting conflicting information.
I am looking for an Android smartphone that is capable of dual SIMs. I know that Apple iPhones can
do this, but I want an Android.
Some places I have read that the software on some smartphones designated for the United States
market have that feature disabled.
Anyway, my ideal smartphone would be:
Dual SIM (one physical and one e-SIM is acceptable)
Will work on AT&T and Verizon Wireless MVNO (like Total Wireless)
Has 5G bands for both AT&T and Verizon.
Will do wifi calling and texting, natively, on AT&T.
I think a Google Pixel 6 would do this. What I can't determine, yet, is if I should just buy the
unlocked Google Pixel 6 or the AT&T version. The unlocked version is $599 and the AT&T version
costs $739. What do I get for the additional $140?
pixel 6 is not dual sim, atleast not one the unlock version...
The $740 model has mmWave support. The base version does not. If you want to use Verizon and AT&T's fastest 5G, you want that antenna. Just beware that 5G is in extremely limited areas currently and mostly only works outdoors too because it doesn't have much building penetration capability. I personally would save the $140 since Verizon and AT&T are in the process of rolling out C-band 5G which IS supported by the modem and has much better range and building penetration.

Yes it is. One physical SIM and one eSIM.

Am interested if this Pixel dual standby mode (SIM + eSIM) works for foreign sims too? Can I download AT&T as eSIM and use it with Spanish Orange SIM as physical SIM?

Should work as long as the bands are compatible, I wouldn't see an issue.

Slight tangent, but do you know if there's a way to check which version I have? I got mine as a refurb off Amazon, but it's unclear whether I got the GB7N6 or G9S9B (to my understanding the G9S9B has mmWave?) - and I swear I saw "G9S9B" in some device-info app but I can't find it again.
Edit: Oop, solved my own question. Termux getprop ro.boot.hardware.sku -> G9S9B. Neato. ...Don't know how that happened because I thought the G9S9B only came from AT&T and Verizon and I got it pre-unlocked, but I'm not complaining.
Does anyone know if my sim from my unlocked P3 will work in an unlocked P6 on Verizon?
I recently replaced my Straight Talk AT&T-based SIM with a Verizon-based one. The new SIM works well enough on the unlocked P6, though the 5G is limited to sub-6 frequencies as the Google Store P6 does not have mmWave 5G. Your P3 SIM should work fine in the P6.

Thanks for the reply. Also answering my own question, apparently you can now use an eSIM on Verizon. No physical SIM required.

You beat me to it. I've been using eSIM on VZW since November with no issues. Highly recommend it.

Hi Guys,
I'm from Sri Lanka
I brought a pixel 6 (G9S9B) it's OEM and bootloader unlocked but when I trying to download a ESIM (In Sri Lanka) with it I got a error.
If anyone help with this, it's highly appreciated
same issue for me too. I'm from Sri Lanka too. I've read some thread similar to this as they all said its on our carrier's hand, however according to them (our carrier) they have address our e-sim profile accurately. Any thoughts? BTW I did even try to add the e-sim profile even after converting to a global version (G9S9B to GB7N6), but no luck. Same result as the OP/my friend here.
You may received an Verizon mobile, which is carrier locked, so it won't accept any other SIM cards.
Try with a physical SIM whether any error message.
However, the number showing in the screenshot belongs to AT&T.
Cheers

AT&T and Verizon both lock the eSIM, rendering the eSIM useless outside of the AT&T or Verizon networks.
You'll have to use a physical SIM, and before you ask, to the best of my knowledge there is no way of unlocking the eSIM.
Wow then I have no solution

And now you know why we tell people not to bother with carrier devices. What you should have done was bought a Japanese Pixel 6, as those have mmwave 5G in addition to sub-6 5G and an unlocked eSIM, once some software mods are made to change it to an international version.
I didn't know that
