All images and videos have the file name timestamp in GMT time which is 5 hours ahead of my local time 9 (US EST). I have the phone set to automatically set the time and haven't had any problems otherwise. The EXIF data in the images also contains the correct time. Only the file name timestamp is incorrect.
Anyone else experience this or am I missing a setting somewhere?
Thanks,

I think this is more preferable anf convenient because UTC time wont be complicated by daylight savings time and timezone. Wherever you took your photo, the local time (in date taken) should correctly display the right timestamp if you have also enabled GPS time wirh coordinates

If you select picture modes, it will offer you a selection, that shows a little gps / globe looking icon, if you go to that mode and it doesn't error out, then it should be working and print the geo-location information on either the picture or within the meta-data for use with other meta-data readers that help you to access and plot the data as you so desire. My GPS mode was failing on me and throwing an error, so my guess is that if you can avoid the error, then you are good to go
Hope this helps,
Bob
Thanks,
Actually I do get an error saying "can't initialize GPS service" (or something like that). Does anybody know if it's a problem in AP4?

I was unable to initialize properly GPS intermediate driver in AP4 - It's not working properly. Seams like initialization goes well but no actual GPS data is transfered back. Since all software can be configured to work without this driver this is not some big issue actually.

Thanks for posting the example EXIF information, if you are able to find a way to get that mode to work properly, I would love to hear about the steps you took to make things right

It used to work in AP3
I got it working in AP3 by first letting VisualGPS or Google Maps get a satellite fix and only then starting the camera.
Haven't tried it in AP4 yet, though. Will report back on this.
Stock WM6 ROM was fine - AP4 does not work.
GPS Photo not working
I have the same problem when trying to take a gps photo, I too get the error can't initialize gps, I get a fix with google maps and tomtom before trying and still the same message!
If anyone does know how to fix this please let me know!
Its not only that. If I get a fix before starting the camera using IGO for that matter, then minimize IGO and starting the camera, after getting that error, IGO also losses the GPS settings, and I have to restart it.
any news
is the gps photo fixed yet?
How to Set GPS for camera?
I did once in older ROM, but after installing new ROM, it is not set. How can I set the GPS for camera? I really have forgotten.
Edit:
OK, I remeber. Just use Schaps Advanced Config Tool.
Edit 2:
Not working for me either. The same error as above. ALso after google maps or any other GPS app.
I can make photo-GPS with AP4 platinum ROM
Copy this file in Windows folder.
You must rename original file in Windows folder with other name ( for example gpsid_HTC.dll.old) before copy the new file.
File is from galt http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405016
I just emailed HTC about it. I even had to send a photo I took with my Hero with time stamping enabled to show them what I meant. The only thing they can tell me is that it just isn't an option on the Evo 3D. They also told me to look on the market for an app that'll let me add that functionality. Is there such a thing?
I'm adding the same example photo I sent to HTC in this post, so everyone will know what I mean by time/date stamping.
I really don't get why it isn't a standard option.
I was going to add a poll to see how many of you out there think this should be an option added to the camera app, but I can't seem to figure out how to add a poll. lol
Isn't the timestamp simply part of the metadata tags built into the image file?

...what he said. Unless you actually want an old school red/orange timestamp on top of your photo? Might find an app for that on the Market, who knows?

the sample photo he posted above contains a text colored timestamp on the bottom right hand corner.
i do think it is very odd the camera app does not provide an option for a timestamp and i too have used this feature in the past and think its a good idea.
odd they didn't add that feature. i hadn't noticed until i read this post and checked my camera app .. def no option to put a timestamp on the lower right corner of the photo.

But again, how is a time stamp on the actual photo a benefit over including the time stamp in the image file metadata?
Back when photos were on film, burning the time stamp into the photo itself was the only way to know when it was taken. But these things are digital. Metadata is a much more elegant way to track all sorts of information (like geo tags) associated with a photo, and it's how all the information is stored in the photos the EVO 3D (and pretty much every other digital camera device) takes. Most photo organization software (like most MP3 software) makes extensive use of meta tags for sorting and searching your files. And it doesn't muddy up your images to boot.

to illustrate the otherside of the viewpoint you've expressed and address your question.
i guarantee not every android user understands metadata, nor knows how to use/where to find it. i find it comical imaging my parents trying to locate the metadata of a picture they took on their phone.
for those people who still print out their images and want to scrapbook/put in photo albums, they might prefer having the time/date stamped on the front of the image itself.
some people prefer timestamps printed on their photos and some people do not. having or not having timestamps on photos is a matter of personal preference and is a legit request as an option, especially given i've had the option of printing timestamps on the images i've taken with previous android phones.

Well then go to the official HTC Community forums and make the request.
My X10 didn't have the ability to print time stamps on the photos, neither does my wife's text messaging phone. I'm not even sure if either of our digital cameras (a Digital Rebel, and a Canon point-and shoot) have that capability. All I'm saying is people have to move with the march of technology.
And on a related note: can you imagine your parents even having an EVO 3D?
Here's something. Wouldn't it be possible to just take the setting from the most recent Sense before Sense 3 and add it to the settings in our present camera app?
I'm no programmer, (or I'd just attempt it myself, lol). Just putting it out there so maybe someone will consider it.
The reason for time/date stamping ON the photo in addition to the metadata is the fact that most people, at least in my opinion, when attempting to retrieve the date of a certain photo on the internet, would rather just see it printed right on the photo than have to download the image and look for it in the image info.
Now I'm not sure if I'm just missing it when attempting this or not, but I went to a random site, right clicked on an image and went to View Image Info, and didn't see anything at all about a date or time the image was taken. Only when I actually download the image then go to Properties>Details do I see an actual date/time.
I didn't mean for this to be a debate or anything. Just feel it's wrong not to even give the option anymore. It's not like something like that takes up a lot or space or processing power, or even time processing the photo.
I think It's cool when you need to provide a day and time for a pic that you want to upload online.

i didn't want a debate either so i stopped replying as it was clearly off topic.
copying the settings file from a previous sense version of camera which supports the time/stamp, *could* work, assuming the current camera.apk supports time/stamping and they just forget/intentionally didnt add it to the options menu inside the camera.apk.
i dont have a previous sense phone, like the EVO, handy to pull the camera settings file from /data/data ..
on the EVO3D the settings file is: /data/data/com.android.camera/shared_prefs/com.android.camera_preferences.xml
an example adb pull command to copy it to the local computer:
adb pull /data/data/com.android.camera/shared_prefs/com.android.camera_preferences.xml c:\com.android.camera_preferences.xml
i do wonder how adding time stamping to the picture would work in 3d mode ... i wonder if that presented an issue so they scrapped it ... just speculating!

Ya know, I never thought of that as a potential reason for leaving it out. That's probably it too, not that we could get an official answer to it though, so speculation will have to do, but I do think you have it right.
I DID hear early on in the threads that it was possible that panorama and burst mode, among other things, weren't acting right for one reason or another, and those functions were pulled right before release. Makes sense that panorama or burst wouldn't work right either in 3D, so it stands to reason.
Still though, it would've been nice to have those options for 2D pictures. It's a shame they couldn't figure out how to disable those options when the 3D switch was flipped, if any of this is really the case even. lol
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
so I figured it out! so here's how I got "get carrier time" on HD2O_2.0.0_16_6.5.0_0409_EN....
download the rar included. unrar it into a temporary folder onto your desktop or likes....
1&2) install MortScript-4.2-PPC.cab and GetCarrierTime.cab on your phone
3) copy over content of windows folder to \windows\ on the phone....
4) ???
5) enjoy
notes:
-***use at your own risk***
- GetCarrierTime.cab installs a shortcut to run "get carrier time" on startup; can be deleted from inside \windows\startup folder
- seems to work for the most part on wm6.1 but doesn't add shortcut to start>programs(can copy shortcut from the startup folder to ???)
- I take no credit for any of this

I was using Energy.Leo.21916.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.XTREME for a good while but was/am having an issue where it auto sets the wrong time zone(gmt -6 saskatchewan when it should be Central US or similar; saskatchewan doesn't daylight savings), I know I can disable "automatic change time zone and clock" but would preffer that it can still time sync every once and a while. I've tried out a few misc other wm6.5 roms but found they don't sync the time unless I disable "automatic change time zone and clock" and then re-enable it again, or other obscure workaround; anyone know how I can get the "get carrier time" icon/program/other on other roms??? or how I can possibly fix my timezone issue???
thanks
just to say I resolved my previous issue and updated the thread with instructions
modified version of the mortscript t.mscr....
I'm one of the many people who run into the issue that the carrier time syncing throws off my time zone(I live in GMT -6 Central US and it keeps switching to GMT -6 Saskachewan where there is no daylights savings).
I found that running "Get Carrier Time" on occasion still results in the switch between times zones and further discovered that running it enables "Automatic change time zone and clock" meaning that sooner or later the phone would change the time zone by itself... with no further delay I present a slight modification to the mortscript.... best used at boot time and/or when time is suspected to be inaccurate(??if possible?? maybe schedule a sync)...
how it works(to the best of my current understanding):
this little modifications saves the current time zone into a variable; It then sync the time with the carrier (by disabling > enabling > disabling the "Automatic change time zone and clock" feature) and then feeds the time zone stored info that had been stored in the variable back to the registry setting, there for retaining the original time zone that was set by the user
notes: you want to disable anything that would normally get your phone to time sync with the carrier(or that is known to throw off the time zone)
*doesnt' seem to work*for people running Energy's HD2 rom, I suspect all you have to do is overwrite t.mscr in the windows directory of the phone with this; I've included a shortcut that someone else uploaded ??somewhere??(sorry I don't remmeber) that may be handy for people wanting to get this to run at boot time
other notes(non energy): I suspect there's an odd chance that if SetSysTimeZoneImpl.exe exists on your current firmware you can rename it to SetSysTimeZoneImpl_.exe and not use the one included in the previous rar, but am unsure at this time as I'm not 100% clear as to what it does or doesn't do

I want report a bug, that several users have already confirmed with CN and US Rom and Amazfit Watch app from Mi Store and Play Store.
If the watch is set to 4 data fields for activities, the sport item order can be rearranged in the Amazfit Watch app, and the 4 fields will be shown correctly during exercise.
But if however the watch is set to 6 data fields, it ignores the sport item order from the app and shows always the same set. This is especially annoying as we can't see e.g. the average pace during a trail run.
Is there a correction with another rom?pacefield, US, CN???
Thanks
I have the same issue. I change the order of the fields in the app but they don't change on the watch. (( What should I try?
No solution yet for 6 fields. If you need a custom set, you have to switch to 4 fields only.
It doesn't even work with 4 fields. How do you make the change? Do I need to start an activity first?
Of course, how else do you want to see that it works?
If you change the order in the Amazfit app and you don't start an activity on the watch, you wont see anything on the watch. Strange question or I misunderstood you.
I think you misunderstood me.
I mean does it matter what's the consequence of the process? Does it matter if:
1) First I arrange the fields in the app and then start the activity, or
2) I must start an activity and then change the order in the app while the activity is on, or
3) another option?
So far it's not working and I thought there could be another proper way to do it.
My last tests are from the time of the first post. So, long time not checked. I always use 6 fields and can live with the default order.
But it should be logical that only made settings in the app can be used in an activity. Changes after a finished activity has no effect to the already done things. The sport item order screen is only visible while an active workout.
