Porting an i9300 rom to the i747m? - Is it possible? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

See topic title, I apologize if this description is brief. I have experience in porting Samsung roms from the S7. How would this differ?
Would it even be possible? If anyone's curious what ROM, I can always specify. I simply want to know to see if it's feasible before I attempt something fruitless that a few simple META-INF tweaking won't solve.
Thanks! - ODO

[Q] Porting ROMs to the Fascinate

I'm interested in learning how to port ROMs. I've done a lot of searching online and can't really figure out exactly what steps are needed. From what I've read, the porting process consists of replacing files in the ROM you're porting with files that are compatible with the Fascinate, but I don't understand which files need replaced. Also, information I've found on various websites don't explain what other steps are needed in order to successfully port a ROM. I'm sure there's more to it. Is anybody willing to take the time to explain what steps are involved in porting a ROM? Your help is appreciated!
It takes a significant amount of work, and if you've never done any ROM building in the past, you may want to start with that before worry about porting a new ROM.

[Q] How Do I Write My Own Custom ROM? Without "Cooking" It?

I'm interested in WRITING my own custom ROM, not cooking it. A while ago I saw a thread about someone giving us a piece of advice with everything I needed to learn to write my own custom ROM because he hated the Android Kitchen Moniker (I hate it too). Can someone give me pointers to write my ROM, not just "cook" it? Perhaps anyone knows what's the thread I'm talking about?

[Q] Questions before rooting and ROMing (I'm just new to the Vibrant)

Hey everyone! So I'm very familiar with Android (running it, hacking it, etc.) but I don't know much about the Vibrant, and from the research I've done it seems kind of hacky...well really hacky. Anyways I just have a few questions before I start messing around with my girlfriend's phone; I'm just gonna list them below to make it easier. Any help would be appreciated very much of course! Thanks in advance!
1. What is going on with the model numbers/names for this phone?
Okay, so my girlfriend has a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4G (from what I found out, I believe the model number is T959V). This is still considered a "Vibrant" right? Also, will ROMs, recoveries, etc. labeled for the "T959" also work with her phone? (Since it is technically T959V)
2. Are there any Jelly Bean ROMs without the emergency calling issue?
I've been reading around about the different Jelly Bean ROMs available for the Vibrant, and can't find a general consensus about which, if any, do not have the emergency calling bug. Besides for that bug, it seems like Jelly Bean has been running pretty smoothly on the Vibrant. So is there a ROM without this bug, and what exact problem does the bug cause?
3. What are the basic steps from upgrading from Froyo to Jelly Bean?
I know this question seems more stupid than the rest, but after reading several guides, ROM installation instructions, and wikis, all of the instructions seem to say something different. I just want to know the VITAL things that I have to flash (radios, bootloaders, kernels, etc.) before I can just boot into recovery and flash a Jelly Bean ROM zip and have it boot up.
Like I said before, I hope I don't seem too needy or ignorant by posting this! I truly have done my research on this phone already, but a few things are still very unclear to me. I just want to be safe before I try to do anything to it! Also for the sake of everyone else, I wanted to avoid having to post "PLZ HELP I BROK MY FONE!1!!" in the future. So if anyone can help me out at all, or if anyone has some general tips, I would appreciate it a lot! Thanks!
P.S. I know there are quite a few guides out there, but none of the ones I could find were updated anytime recently. And that's what brings me here!
To answer your first question. T959V and T959 are not the same thing.
Roms are not interchangeable.
The T959V does have its own section here on XDA.

Thank you very much. A mod can move this to the SGS 4G section so it's not taking up space here.

Calling all devs, discussion

Hello all,
I am just getting into development stuff and i thought of developing or porting a rom for a tablet i own i.e Tab 3 7' (SM-T211)
the problem is, there are roms but not for this particular model (due to this being a wifi + gsm model)
so the thing is
i know basic files which we need while porting
but the thing is, all the roms which are available, doesnt have the calling feature (GSM) so sim card is not detected in the rom which i port
so i asked few devs, they said you gotta mod or edit, policy framework.jar and stuff
my question is
what are those particulars stuff we required to edit or mod to get gsm thing to work, can anyone push me in a particular direction ?
and my next project after this (if its a success ) would be to develop a kitkat rom for this tab
so please guide me in a direction so that i can try my talent
Thank you so much
TO THE MODS : IF THIS THING IS IN WRONG SECTION, THEN I AM REALLY VERY SORRY

Is there any way to port Snapdragon to Snapdragon Roms? (Snapdragon 410-msm8916)

Before anything, i'd like to establish that, yes, i saw some guides online, but i honestly didn't feel confident on trying them. I have a Galaxy Core Prime (SM-B360BT) And i was looking into porting any rom that's above Android 5.0 to it. I already have the stock rom (Kernel 3.10.49) But i'm still looking for a tutorial (Specially one that tells how to port Android 7+ to 5.0) If anybody can help me or even provide a link to the rom, i'd be really thankful.
Also: Sorry if i posted this in the wrong forum section... i'm kinda newbie in here.
