Question Something That Tracks Battery Usage From Last Charging Session? - Google Pixel 6

My old LG G8X would show battery usage stats from the last charging session vs the Android 12 last 24 hour period. Is there anything that will show battery usage from the last charging session and not only the last 24 hours? AccuBattery doesn't seem to do this and neither does Android 12. If either can do this then please tell me how to configure for that. Thank you.

Accubattery history should show overall charge taken and discharge.
Unless that's another app Android 11/12 killed...

Did you make it work on the Pixel 6? Tried it and seems to be broken. At least the latest versions.

Yes, I finally did get it to work but it was not as straightforward as it should have been. The version I use is 2.6-382 and you need to run through the adb permissions. Where are you getting stuck?

I did add the permissions but keep getting the following error (checking the permissions option): STATUS: Failed: Transaction failed on small parcel; remote process probably die
Also, no stats would be retrieved.

Trying to remember how I finally got it. I do know that I had to force close and reboot after installation and the adb commands otherwise they would still show as 'needing permissions' or something like that. Even now I still get no stats on the Summary page sometimes but if I go to partial wakelocks or alarms I see stats. It's very iffy although lately it's been fine. (past week) I don't think it's a P6 issue because I had the same thing on my P5. The dev has mentioned that Android has some new security features that inhibit the function and we tried out a few betas to no avail. Then we all went back to the 382 version.
So try a FC and reboot. Plug it in and see if you can get some stats after a few minutes. If you still get permissions errors try redoing the adb commands. Stick with it you'll get it. I really needed to get a handle on battery life so I downloaded AccuBattery and that works pretty well. It just doesn't show you wakelocks or alarms.

Try 3C All-in-One Toolbox it comes with a Battery manager, 4.4 stars on Play Store.

[Q] Twitter disabled yet "tpd" process still consumes battery?

Firstly I have a HTC one S, stock, not rooted.
I have disabled everything twitter related, however, in better battery stats, the process "tpd" is still showing and using a fair bit of my battery, does anyone know what is going on and how to truly disable twitter?

I have snowstorm and sense weather syncing every few hours and gmail push as usual, I haven't got anything else syncing.
Disabled most of sense apps apart from gallery, dialer/people, messaging, weather and a few other things.
I don't know for sure but I would guess you haven't disabled Twitter completely. There's got to be some app that's still running in the background. You need to root your phone and start uninstalling things.
Thanks for the reply
Everything that I can see related to twitter is disabled.
- twitter
- twitter for HTC sense
- TwitterAPIEngine
Is there anything else I should be looking for?
I have also disabled all the sense friends stream stuff.
Really don't want to root my phone just yet.
Try downloading Watchdog Lite from the Play Store. This app shows you which apps are using the most CPU cycles (and therefore consuming the most power). This could maybe allow you to identify which app this "tpd" process is associated with. (Having said that, BetterBatteryStats does usually show the app name as well as the process name, as you can see in the other entries in your screenshot, so if BBS couldn't identify it, Watchdog might not either. But the Lite version is of course free, so you may as well try it)
Ok thanks for the suggestion, will give that a shot and see
Just got a reply from someone else there regarding this and this is what he said:
It looks like tdp is just a system process betterbatterystats hasn't recognised, like surfaceflinger but added by HTC or just a new ICS process. (the PID is 0?)
If you look under Settings>Power>Battery use>Android System>included packages it can be one of those.
All the twitter related stuff will start off as something like com.htc.engine.twitter or com.twitter.Android in betterbatterystats. TDP is also a 3rd party twitter app last updated in 2010, that's probably where the twitter link came from?

And I just checked there and this is what comes under "android system":
As well as system UI being listed there.
I will email the developer of better battery stats to see what the "tpd" process is.

[Q] Prevent Google Play Services wakelock

I've tried some methods like:
App Ops (root) - Disabled location and wakelock
Wakelock Terminator - Prevent wake lock (with filters: NIpCollectorWakeLock NIpWakeLock CheckinService NetworkLocationLocator)
The battery usage is still high (higher than the screen usage), and the awake time on battery history occurs a lot (see image).
Has anyone fixed this? Or has anyone just generally improved battery life through something similar?
Kernal: 2.2 bonuzzz
ROM: Eudemony Rom Alpha V3
Thanks

I'll also give it a go. Trying with an app that simulates init.d executions also, so if it works, I may be able to automate it on boot.
Thanks for the heads up. Will report back in a day or so

Not sure it worked. I still don't have great battery life. Something is wrong, and my phone is constantly awake.

So, at the end of the day. I tried many different approaches to solve this issue such as:
preventing wakelock
using applications like greenify to reduce usage
removing google services permissions
preventing syncing
None of these seemed to help a lot (and some even made battery lift worse!).
So, I've removed all of my battery saving apps etc, and have just resorted to disabling location (when I don't need it).
That seems to have done the trick and my phone is no longer waking up nearly as much as it was before.
I know its not the best fix, and its just a band-aid, but its better than terrible battery life.
Hopefully someone has a better fix soon.
Thanks
Tried "Amplify"?
You could also try an Xposed Module called "Amplify" to limit your wakelocks. Look here "[Mod][Xposed] Amplify - Battery Extender - Control alarms, services, and wakelocks" for detailed information.
You will need root and Xposed Framework.

WhatsApp web issues when phone is locked

My WhatsApp web keeps telling my phone is not connected as soon as the phone screen goes black.
The second I press any button and the screen is activated, then my messages gets delivered and WhatsApp web start working again.

Add WhatsApp to never sleep and in app info of WhatsApp, battery, turn off optimize battery usage.

These settings were already like that (I think).
Is there anywhere else I should look at?

Did you also check in device care: battery, uncheck power saving mode
click background usage limits
add whatsapp to never sleeping apps.
Theres nothing else I did to get whatsapp to stay running.
Maybe reinstalling whatsapp might help. I've seen oddities fixed by that OR clearing data (which also resets the app to new).

Run backup to Google drive in WhatsApp and reinstall. I've seen bugs like that and modern software sucks so badly you'll never know why. Example Turbo tax 2020 is the current piece of crap that they know has an issue with windows 10 that they haven't fixed yet.

I am desperately trying to hide and block the update to 4.1. I am still on 3.1 and hear all the bugs of 4.1 are rough. If it's not possible, im gonna return the phone
You need to disable the OTA Update app.
Use a adb edit or a package disabler.
Your carrier can disable it from their side as well.
Stay away from wifi networks until this is done. The carrier may also have update towers which update very fast if you get in range.

Yes, the top one is the firmware upgrade one. It has literally just about every permission under the sun. The way it behaves it might as well be malware.
I blocked the second one as well. This N10+ in my hand hasn't been upgraded/updated in almost 2.5 years, still running on Pie. Current load will be 2 yo this June, still fast and stable with minimal maintenance. Security simply isn't an issue... upgrades are

Thank you both for this information. I disabled the mentioned apps just like you mentioned. The instant it was done, the Samsung update notification disappeared. Thank you again and have a blessed day!

Question What in god's name is SMD wakeup

Hello all,
GSAM is reporting a high wake-lock under the banner SMD Wakeup. Can someone explain what it means and how to get rid of it?!!!!!
Maybe it's knox enrollment service, com.sec.enterprise.knox.cloudmdm.smdms?
I am also suffering from too many wakelocks from the Android system itself.
Naptime app by Franco the same person who makes Franco kernel manager. It's on Google Play store and can be used for free and you give it a few extra adb permissions with a pc and shizuku adb shell and boom you have better wake lock controls and more control over how android sleeps in general.

Nope...it's called Significant Motion Detection under the Doze and any SMDs come into this bracket (such as the phone moving, you moving while the phone is on you, the screen turning on due to a notification etc) the phone goes off doze and you have a wake lock. Either Samsung devs smoked something really crazy when they released this update, or Android 13 has a broken doze mode. I don't think it's the latter! The bets are open!
