Since stupid Canadian CRTC broadcast all alerts at presidential level, thus every month i would get waken up a few times at the mid of night by that blaring sound. I wonder how does one disable the presidential alert? It requires root right? Thanks

Hi,
I remember seeing an app a couple of months ago that, when set, would let you filter incoming calls while your phone is on silent, the problem is that i have no idea what the app is called and have tried searching with no luck.
Now what i mean is this:
If i put my friends number in the settings of the app and he calls me while my phone is on silent he will recieve an automated SMS from my phone saying that my phone is on silent but if it's an emergency that he should call me again and if they do call me again within a certain period of time the app makes the phone ring normally instead of silencing the call.
Anyway, i have no idea what it's called and would really appreciate any help in finding it
EDIT: Never mind, found it, it's called Dindy
So myself and several others at work are getting Amber alerts on our phones.. I'm the only one on the G5 and also the only one that is unable to clear the alert. I get the tones, loud as ever, despite my audio settings... But I get nothing as far as popups, notifications, etc. So... I have no way to clear them.
Anyone else with this issue? Any way to disable this completely? Thanks in advance to all who reply
EDIT: I resolved this issue (with the help of the comment below this post)... I use Textra as my primary messaging app, and use Nova to hide the stock messaging app. Textra does not display the alerts, but still allows the tones to generate. So, once I went into the stock app and changed the settings, all is fine now.
I have an OEM app on my phone called emergency alerts. I haven't received any yet, but does your phone have that app? When I open it and go to settings it gives me the options for Presidential Alerts, Extreme Alerts, Severe Alerts, AMBER Alerts and Test Alerts. You can turn each of them (except Presidential Alerts) off and on.
On my phone, I have it set to Priority Only Allows with Messages from anyone plus Calls from anyone.
For some odd reason, my phone will turn on DND and not allow anything to pass for about an hour. This happens several times a day since I can see the DND symbol there knowing that DND has been blocked even though the Priority has allow all messages and calls.
It appears to be activated by my watch through both DND and gestures and over rides what my phone has established. Every so often I see that my phone is in DND and all calls will go to voice mail.
I turned off gestures, set DND to OFF, but is there a way to have this be off and have it stop interfering with my phone calls?
I had the same problem and turned off gestures. I also reported it to Google. Maybe if enough people report similar issues they will make a change.
Android Wear 2.0 was supposed to be out by now, but it was delayed until early next year. Maybe they will make some changes, such as allow customizing gestures.
In the past 2 months I received 10 (yes TEN) emergency alerts on my phone, with absolute ZERO actual emergencies. I got tornado warning at 3AM with storm, according to weather map, 40 miles away at it's closest, I got flood warning pretty much every time it rains and now mandatory warning tests, including today's nation wide test. At least I didn't get false nuclear attack warning like those poor people in Hawaii, BTW where were they running, nuclear shelters? Anyway to block, unsubscribe or opt out from those alerts? I really don't want to be alerted to anything anymore by any of our government agencies, I completely disregard them as frivolous anyway. Now I know some people live in flood or tornado prone areas and this emergency alerts could save their life, but I don't. So how do I stop those alerts? I even got them on the phones no longer having SIM and used as wifi tablets only.
It's built into the stock messages app. Just freeze it Or use lucky patcher to disable that part of the messages app.
there should be a Emergency alert setting in stock messages Setting.
Hey so I live in Washington, and I just got an alert about 911 services being down, and to call local departments if needed.
First time getting one of those, but the root of the question is that, my phone was on silent. Not even vibrate. Should I expect to get my ears blown out even for Amber alerts? or did this one bypass silent mode due to it being an extremely high priority alert. On my S6 and S5 I've only gotten Amber alerts, but they didnt bypass if I had my phone set to silent from what I remember.
I'm just assuming there's different priority levels of the phone alert system that will or will not bypass sound settings? Can anyone clarify for the S9+ in particular?
Have you checked in the messages app, settings/emergency alert settings? You have some control over this there.
Ok, I'm bringing this thread back to life.
In Canada we have "amber alerts" which I believe are classified as the highest priority emergency alert ("presidential alerts" in 'murica?).
I have a Rogers S9+ (Snapdragon) and an Unlocked UAE S9+ (Exynos). The Rogers S9+ has emergency alerts settings in the default sms app. The UAE S9+ has no emergency alert setting.
Both devices ignore device notification settings (do not disturb, silent, vibrate only) and blast the alert.
Does any know how to gain more control over emergency alerts? Especially on my UAE s9+ where the settings are missing. I suspect it's somehow tied to the device's CSC.
Ideally, I'd like the the alerts to respect the do not disturb setting. I know the iPhone and Huawei devices do this, so I don't believe it's improper.
