Just curious, is it possible to root Xperias? Has anyone rooted the Sony Xperia PRO-I ?
Yes magisk
Can you recommend a version? There was a bug (Android 11's fault) that was causing bootloops on the Xperia 5 II and 1 II which is a bit scary.

You have to manually remove one line, thats how it works. Yes, a bit scary.
I have a Pro I and I am getting a 'no' on the bootloader unlock. How do you get around this?

I tried to root with Magisk, but couldn't open the bootloader using the procedure on this Sony.com website: https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/get-started/unlock-bootloader. The procedure doesn't give me an unlock code. Do you have an alternative?
I recently rooted my Pro-I without any issues that weren't my own inability at paying attention to guides.
to get the oem unlock key you just paste your IMEI under xperia 1 IV since pro-I doesn't have a dedicated listing.
just follow the guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...re-and-gsi-rom-flashing-without-twrp.4390175/

I am also running into this problem. Did you find a solution? I've presently been escalated through Sony Support and am waiting on a call back.

First off, that's kind of a **** answer. Second, can you give some evidence about your claim about the Pro I? What region was your phone?

I've confirmed with him, I also have a rooted Pro-I. It's an HK model although I'm in Canada
Bootloader is unlocked for us by stating it's a 1 III or 1 IV on sony site, it provides the code then.
XQ-BE72
American models cannot be unlocked
AMA; I've done lots of tweaking with it and can attest to it's performance
Tsuchimursu has also helped to confirm a prior root finding so I can vouch for him as well

yeah it's a bad answer because I'm a total beginner at this stuff and don't pretend otherwise. My only real issues were my own doing, had I followed guides step by step I would have gotten it done without any issues. I pointed out the thing that differed from guides that worked for me. you can ask specific questions if you hit a brick wall but it's been a while now so I don't remember much of what I did...

Thank you VERY much for this. For what it's worth, they seem to think XQ-BE62 is unlockable. My unit is arriving in coming weeks and I'll be raising hell if that's not true.
In the mean time, "Developer options" -> "OEM unlocking" - can you confirm you have that checked, and re-validate if your "Bootloader unlock allowed" changes to "yes" ? This is a long shot.

If you are able to root your phone please let me know. Fingers crossed. I just checked Developer Options and OEM unlocking is on. I went to *#*#7378423#*#* in the phone dialer and it still returns NO. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I have my doubts.

My XQ-BE62 arrived and basically as we all suspected, nope....can't be unlocked. Argh.

Hi guys!
I've got i9100P locked to Orange UK. Is there any way to get the unlock code? I've tried this app but it doesn't work:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5zZ3Myc2ltdW5sb2NrY29kZSJd
I've also tried this one:

It doesn't return the code, but does unlock it on 4.0.4. On 4.2.2 it doesn't work.
Is there a way to get the unlock code for free? If not, can you recommend verified website where I can buy unlock code?
Thanks!

Search what?
I've searched the forums and didn't find the answer. I'm asking for someone to recommend me a verified website where I can buy the unlock code.
Now this is funny.....
You came here looking for a way to unlock your device. Bumped into like 3411 threads about it.
Tried a couple of apps, freaked out when the BEST unlocking app out there charges you with 4 buck for unlock it for good (true story, most of us used it), because you don't wanna pay for some file-pathing up but you would pay 25 buck to a website to get your phone unlocked with a code?
AND YOU MISSED the XDA USER FREE APP the dev -you don't wanna support by throwing 4 bucks - provided us with?
Then you said "let's create a thread and give crap"?
That's hilarious.
Edit: That was uncalled for, sorry about that, just ask somebody attach the free app or whatever. Tho the paid app will permanently unlock your device.

So search on here for SPOCKY.And next time thank people like Sun90 instead of moaning about an apps functionality/cost.

Yeah, that's not going to unlock it
To all other: Look guys, I didn't mean to be rude or anything similar. I've already bought similar app that I've found here at XDA. It can find the unlock code, and if it doesn't find it, it can patch nv_data.bin. It didn't find the unlock code, and patching only worked for older versions of android. That's way I didn't want to bug another similar app as the one I already have - I want newest cyanogenmod. Anyway, I've bought the unlock code from http://unlockunit.com/ for $20 and it's working perfectly Thanks guys!
We've been trying to tell you that you could have gotten it unlocked for free with an app the dev once posted or by paying for the play store version of that app. It was 2 bucks and unlocks it for good.
We all used it when jb re-locked our devices back in November.

For any Sony Xperia Device
Totally unlock your Xperia to be able to aply Mods/Roms without any limits.
Well first of all i want to say that this tutorial was not made by me, im just translating it to the english language so that we can all now about this great tutorial.
Before i begin i wanted to tell you that this great advance in the freedom of Sony Xperia devices has been the result of all the complaints sended to Sony from HTCMania, the following complaints can be seen in the followings links, so if you want to see them just click them:
Claim appeal from HTCMania: http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=393945
Claim imposed in Movistar Comunity: http://comunidad.movistar.es/t5/Contrataci%C3%B3n-Precios-y/Desbloquear-Bootloader-Sony-Xperia-S/td-p/623003/highlight/false/page/1
This has been an amazing achievement worldwide because this has open the doors to all our Xperia devices from any phone company of the world. With just having a free terminal and with that having the code to unlock the SIMLock, any Xperia S, Xperia U, Xperia P, etc will be able to release the Fastboot and thereby open the Bootloader. This opens the door for everyone to be Root, being able to flash custom Roms. This will encourage people to buy these devices.
Important previous explanations:
It is necesary that you read and understand what is all this about and why they made this claim to Sony.
Sony has two limitations in their branded devices:
1) Simlock Block: this is what dont allow us to insert another brand SIM card.
2) Fastboot block: this is what dont allow us to install custom Roms/kernels
To know the status of those two blocks we can acces a secret menu of Sony. We have to dial this: *#*#7378423#*#* and we will see this menu:
Entering in Service info > SIM Lock we will see if we have the Simlock or not.
Entering in Cofiguration we will see if our Fastboot is blocked.
When we buy an unlocked device, the secret menu will show this:
SIMLOCK = NO
Unlock Bootloader ALLOW = Yes
When we buy a branded device, the secret menu will show this:
SIMLOCK = YES
Unlock Bootloader ALLOW = NO
If in the operator we do not have permanency, the have to give us the total unlock code. That will let us use any brand Sim card in our device, but we stil cant Root it like an unlocked device, for that we have to open the Bootloader. For doing that we have a code similar to the one to unlock the SimLock to make the "Unlock Bootloader ALLOW: no" to "Unlock Bootloader Allow: yes". Doing that we will have our device in the same conditions that an unlocked device. Then its the user choise to open the bootloader or not.
Well the problem was that Sony didnt know if we really had the right to totally unlock our device, they have reached an agreement. When you have the code to unlock the SimLock you have to get in touch with Sony support service indicating your E-mail, IMEI and the Simlock unlock code that indicates (if the code is correct) that the device can have a total unlock and therefore they will answer our mail to confirm a date of collection of the device so that Sony from their SAT unlock our device and then return it to us unlocked.
Doing this the deviche will be like an ulocked device.
After that, depending on device (Xperia U, Xperia P, Xperia Sola, etc) you have to follow the procedure indicated by sony to open Bootloader.
Steps:
1) Unlock the Simlock of the device
If you dont have permanency with the operator you have to call them and ask the code for free. Depending on the operator this can take from 5 to 15 days
2) Once we unlock the SimLock and we have the unlock code we have to send a mail like this to Sony:
To: Sony mobile Support E-mail (it changes depending on your country)
Subject: Request for unlock FastBoto of -your device here- - IMEI: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Good morning/evenening/afternoon
I own a Xperia device wich have no permanency with any operator and i posses the unlock code of the Simlock that my operator gave to me.
Because of that i request the fastboot unlock, that would change the "Rooting Status: Bootloader Unlock Allowed: NO" to "Rooting Status: Bootloader Unlock Allowed: YES" to have the same privileges than an unlocked device and later if i wish to, aplly in your web the opening of Bootloader.
To making that possible i supply you my device information:
IMEI: XXXXXXXXXXXX (you can get this by dialing *#06*)
SimUnlock Code: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (the one we asked to the operator)
Model/Device: -Your device here-
Mail: -Your mail here-
Phone: -Your phone number here-
With no other particular, accept my best regards and I hope your answer.
Thank you.
-Your name here-
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
3)Sony can answer us different things:
*They can tell us that the SimUnlock code is not correct. In that case you have to call your operator again and ask them to send you the code via mail and then you resend the mail to Sony. That will confirm that your opearator ease you the code legally. If Sony deny to accept you will have to justify your request with a bill that demostrate that you have no permanency with the operator.
*They can tell us that the request is ongoing, here you just have to wait until the confirm if they accepy or deny your request.
*They can tell us a pick up date of the device to unlock it. This is the good one. We have to call them or answer the mail to come to an agreement. They give us a time limit of 15 days to return the device to us. Then we just have to wait them to return our phones. All this is free.
And we are done, with this we have our device unlocked and you can flash custom roms, kernels, root your phone or whatever yo want to do. The only thing to do now is enjoy our unlocked device.
To verify that the device is unlocked you have to enter the secret menu again. If iy is unlocked it should show this:
Thats all friends, i hope this helps you. And again this tutorial is not mine, i just translated it for you.
Credits: Ultracity from HTCMania.
PS: Sorry for my english, its the best i could. If you dondt understand something, ask me and i will try to explain you.

Hello again xda. I really hope someone will be able to help me. So the issue is I am getting a weird looking boot screen every time I turn on my phone or restart. It looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now this is not the same model as mine but the screen is exactly the same as what happens to mine. It stays on that for a few seconds and then goes to the honor screen and boots as normal and as far as I can tell, the phone works fine for all intents and purposes. It's just an eyesore having to see that every time and I was wondering if there is anyway to fix this to make it the regular boot? Let me also note that my bootloader is locked and I cannot unlock it for the life of me. I usually resolve things like this on my own after doing research but I have done extensive research on this matter and cannot find a solution. I did the thing where it gives me the unlock code and it tells me it is invalid every time I try to unlock with it. I attempted to call Huawei and they said they cannot help me with that and kept reiterating it will void my warranty. So keep this in mind, I cannot do any kind of flash from recovery because my phone is locked and I have no way to unlock it to my knowledge. Any and all help will be much appreciated. If any more information is needed just let me know, but I believe I covered everything. Thanks.
EDIT: As requested I will add another piece of information. I do not get the Huawei powered by Android screen (without animation), I guess that is the part the weird boot screen replaces. I do however, get the Huawei screen that does have an animation.
Model Number KIW-AL10
Build Number KIW-L24C567B331
It seems that you debrand it to use another model's firmware. That's the reason I believe

One thing to add, if you don't that green screen at the beginning, revert back to the official fw
Just to clarify, when we turn on Huawei phone, there are two honor logos, the first one is honor and powered by Android (without animation) and the second one is honor (with animation), I guess you don't see the first powered by Android logo...

Hi Guys!
Got myself an Xperia XA Ultra F3215 Variant (1st Sony Android Device for me) yesterday. I like the screen and performance - even if its just a mid-ranger and I'm also coming from the Note 4, though I've yet to really test the battery out.
I tried searching not only the XDA but also through Google, but I have yet to find a thread about the F3215.
I have read the differences for some variants would be Dual SIM vs Single SIM, but aside from those, I don't really know much about the variants.
I also checked the USSC Code if the device can be rooted, but it doesn't appear to be so.
So for those devices which aren't Rootable, would there be instances wherein Root can still be achieved even if it's just Temp Root? Has it ever happened to other Sony devices? This is my first Sony android phone, so I don't have experience in Root and Modding aspect of this Manufacturer.
I'd love to have Root, mainly for: debloating, Greenify, Xposed, and Viper4Android.
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA

Hi, it's a full root and it's not hard if you are not a "One clic solution" user. The process is almost the same on nexus or pixel: unlock bootloader -> flash boot/recovery -> flash SuperSu. Download the rootpack for single sim on the Ultra forum and follow carefully the guide on XA forum.A big warning if you use flashtool to update, it can brick your device, on locked bootloader too!

Thanks for your reply.
Just to make it clear: mine, in the Service Info says Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No
Can that still be rooted with rootpack?

I don't know, you can help or follow the work of @Holmes.Sherlock on reversing the bootloader here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xa/development/reversing-xperia-xa-boot-loader-t3491492/page1

Nope if it says bootloader unlock allowed NO there's nothing you can do to change it to a YES unfortunately it's your network that's locked it down not Sony..

LCD density is 340 or 320i think. I was using nova launcher though.
320Dpi looks good, large enough to read stuff on and has additional space, too! Maybe I'll try 320dpi, since mine is still ln default so texts are big! Haha

fastboot oem get-psid
Is the command.
What's interesting to know is to know product number.
You can find out what imei/serial belongs to what product number on imei24.com. If you input your current imei it will show you that info, if anything is wrong there compared to your phone you can't do much.

You need to check with the command that ante0 said, there's a reason behind that request.
If the seller used a service as FunkyHuawei, then the code Huawei/Honor provided will not work, because it's binded to the imei from the screenshot you posted.

Nope. If IMEI/SN and Product ID don't match there is no way to get a working code. (DC being the exception but it doesn't work on newer firmware)
Well, there is a potential way, but it has only been tested by one person.
It's using DC with testpoint, this allows you to bypass bootloader and thus allow you to flash back the firmware the phone came with.
This requires you to open your phone up though.
I would just sell it and get a new used one with unlock code/firmware that can be used to generate it. xD
