This is ridiculous. I bought the freebuds hoping to get the best experience from having same branded phone and earphones. The results were disappointing to say the least. The buds sounded just ok on the phone and i thought i'll update them and hope for the best. To my surprise the mate 20 pro could not find the freebuds to update them. I then decided to try with my HTC u11 Plus. Not only did it recognize them immediately and managed to update them but the sound quality while using my HTC was far superior and i was actually impressed by the freebuds. I then swapped back to the mate 20 pro and was still unable to get them recognized by the freebud app and the sound quality was once again just ok at best. I did have the freebud app set to manual in app launch with everything enabled and still nothing.
The app doesn't work for some reason, I updated the firmware via a different device
Same issue
Hi,
I can confirm the same issue. They need to update the Freebuds Assistant app big time. It's really bad to start with, and now doesn't work with the latest Huawei flagship(Mate 20 pro)!
I'm waiting for Freebuds 2 from China, I jsut hope they'll update the Google Play app to support it, I think I've read something about a Freebuds 2 app, but that was reported as being only available in the Huawei China own appstore.
It doesn't work with the Mate 20 Pro, I tried on my old Nexus 10 tablet didn't work, then I tried it on a Lenovo tablet and it didn't update but said " now you have the latest version"

I've been waiting for the freebuds 2 pro but it seems they have been released under the Honor brand as the Flypods and Flypods Pro.
I am waiting too. The Freebuds were in-ear style which I really like more (the normal ones don't really hold in my ear).
I still think they will bring a new version of the Freebuds.

I'm also waiting for them.
Supposedly they were released yesterday according to XDA. Cant see them on Huawei or Honor's website though https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-freebuds-2-pro-wireless-earbuds-launch/
I did purchased the Honor units. Pretty good fit and sound quality also pretty good. One cool thing is that the phone can charge the case of the flypods.

By the Way the Huawei FreeBuds 2 are the Honor Flypods Pro. You can check them out at AliExpress. Not sure all features will work in USA
Honor Flybuds
Hi - I just bought the Honor FlyBuds however, I am unable to see the battery and pairing information on the phone screen. I am able to pair them like I would pair any other bluetooth device but from what I have read, the pairing information and battery information should automatically come on screen. I am using a Mate 20Pro, running EMUI 9.0

I'm not using the FlyBuds but the Freebuds 2 Pro I just received. I got no particular popup screen once paired, but the battery level is getting displayed by a small indicator in the status bar, near the Bluetooth icon. In the Bluetooth settings, it's possible to access a couple of device-specific options, such as gestures settings for both earpieces and, apparently, firmware update (there's an option to automatically download updates when on wifi). European Mate 20 Pro, B153.
I can confirm that my LYA-L29 dual sim version Mate 20 pro does not support the so called "prompt" or pop up window that shows the battery status of the case and the earbuds. Maybe the feature is only limited to the chinese variants of the mate 20 pro?
Late last year, Huawei announced EMUI 10, its latest software based on Android 10. They kicked things off with a beta that was made available for many Huawei and Honor devices. Today, the company is announcing (via press release) the rollout schedule for stable EMUI 10, starting with the Huawei P30 series.
Huawei continues to march on despite its well-documented situation within the Android ecosystem. EMUI 10 brings many of the features we’ve come to know from Android 10, including Dark mode, as well as Huawei’s own interface updates and performance and security improvements. You can check out our hands-on with EMUI 10 on the Huawei P30 Pro to see it in action.
The good news for those wondering about Google services is the devices listed in the roadmap were released before the ban. That means they will be allowed to continue to use Google services. Hello. I have a question. I have Huawei P Smart 2019 with dead motherboard. My friend have Huawei P20 Lite and here comes the question. Can i swap motherboard from P20 to P Smart 2019? Will it be compatible? He said that his phone is freezing so he is not using it. In case that the motherboard cant be swapped, is there something i could do about those freezes? Thanks in advance for any answer.
