Hey guys,
I've discontinued my work on the custom ROM for the galaxy ace, due to the fact that the only person who I knew, who had this phone, actually broke his phone (because it fell or something)..
Also I do not have enough time to work on it properly, so I hope someone else can continue my work (Peeter123?) and open a new topic concerning this...
Intentionally left blank
Looks good, will try to help if I can. Also: Wifi definitely needs fixing. Constant crashes in std samsung build.
Maybe it would be nice to build in ext3 and ext4 support.
I will focus on speeding up the fw first, maybe do some kernel hacks later..
Are you running the new XEKB1 firmware from samfirmware . com already? If so, could you supply me with a copy of your /system folder? Im missing some files/dirs from the fw at the moment..
Thanks!

Sure no problem, I will get to that this afternoon
Ps. I'm indeed running the latest firmware (S5830XEKB1)
Will there be a simplified safe step by step tutorial in the near future on how to use this ROM? (and if it ****s up how to restore to factory default or so) I tried messing around with ROM manager with my first model and it bricked so I'm really careful with the new one I got now (yes I tricked the people at the store to get me a new one).
You can restore firmware with odin relatively easily. Even if the main firmware is ****ed up. How bad was it bricked? And was it possible to turn your phone on in download mode?

Yes, before I post the first version of this ROM I will include a guide on how to succesfully flash this ROM and how to fix a broken/bricked Galaxy Ace again... reading through Peters posts (on this and other topics) hopefully he can help me with producing this..
There is no topic for Galaxy Ace! Why? I think there shold be a lot of developer...

What files do you need. Whole /system folder is a tad big
NVM uploading to my webserver now, I'll send you a PM with the link.

It wanted to reboot so I could back-up my current firmware, but it never did, all I ever managed to get was taking it into a 'connecting..' state within Kies when I used one of the three button tricks but nothing appeared on screen.
No matter what combination I tried or what kind of method, the screen stayed black.
Hmm yea that's what I feared. I guess you messed up your bootloader. A broken bootloader is unrecoverable. Everything else is fixable.
See first post!

First of all, I do not own a galaxy ace. Secondly, please dont post this in this topic, use other topics for basic questions, since it does not concern my ROM, especially since my ROM is not published online yet.
When it is, I will provide help for problems with my ROM in this topic, but not with others ROMs, sorry..
Good luck anyway!

Okay im not that bad for a person, so let me give you some advice:
*------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Flashing your phone usually means putting leaked software on your phone and thus could potentially
break the rights you have that if it breaks down you get a new one.. so its up to you to proceed..
Before Flashing, make sure you have backed-up all your data, otherwise you'll risk losing it.
Secondly, try to read through some forums/sections (maybe about other phones) to know what
it is you are going to do.
Third, install the right drivers for your phone make sure that KIES is not running on your computer!
Shut it down, shut it down, please do so!.. You just needed to install it to get the Galaxy Ace Drivers,
but the rest of the program is only for people who don't know what to do with their phones,
if you are one of them: Stop reading and be satisfied with what you got, or wait for Kies updates!
*------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Okay, now for the flashing:
Make sure your battery is charged all the way up to 100%, if not you can **** up your battery stats (which are restored after charging it up and playing with it for a couple of days, but nevermind)..
Before connecting it to your computer, shut it down and pull the battery!
Also, make sure that your computer wont be killed/shutdown because your laptop battery is empty or your little brother plays with electricity or something, and try to close as many applications on your computer as possible, just to be sure..
Proceed to the flashing, following these guidelines:
Firmware Update Steps, follow the exact order!:
*-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*
1. Run Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 Downloader
2. Select OPS file : Cooper_v1.0.ops in the OPS field.
3.
- Click BOOT button and select: APBOOT_S5830xxxxx_xxx...._user_low_true.tar.md5
- Click Phone button and select: MODEM_S5830xxxxx_xxx...._REV03.tar.md5
- Click PDA button and select: CODE_S5830xxxxx_xxx...._REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
- Click CSC button and select: CSC_S5830xxxxxx_xxx......_REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
4. Put your phone into Download Mode: Press middle Key ( OK key ) + Power + Volume Down
5. Connect USB cable to your phone and the program must read the Com number it takes.
6. Click Start button and the update process will start.
7. Do not touch or remove anything till the device rebooted and you can see PASS word on the program!!
*---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*
And that's it, that's all I can do for you at the moment. Maybe next week I'll have some more expierence with flashing the galaxy ace, as of now I have only flashed my Galaxy s (a million times) and my Samsung Star (three times ), so I'm not an expert on flashing a Galaxy Ace.
Ugh, was hoping for the ROM instructions
Anyway, I'm fairly new to Android and ROM's, I rooted my phone already successfully so I could get things like Adblocker for apps etc.
I understand and have been told that ROM's are supposedly the 'better' firmwares out there when they are designed for a phone, thus saving things like battery life and performance, is this true or is this really ROM depended?
I'm mainly looking for things like extending the battery life of my phone (performance speed is way enough already with stock firmware), would this be a good reason to use a custom ROM or shouldn't I bother?
Did you tried everthing in ACE..just reconfirming...
You can increase battery life by disabling data network when you dont use it and by removing all those fancy widgets from your desktop launcher, they eat up battery juice.. also, install advanced task killer froyo from market and kill your running apps that you dont use, set security to low

Tested a few days with and without ATK. There was no difference. Much better battery life with Juice Defender.

OFFMODE Charging appears to be broken on the AT&T build. No one reported anything (working or not) on the International build. I am working on this but have no idea how to fix it.
This is weird: If the phone is off and then plugged in the phone will turn back on. Do not know why. Just turn it off again and it should continue to charge
Thank you to Lloir, he did absolutely everything. I even copied his damn recovery post. I just converted his work.

Works well, just flashed a theme and had no problems
This is Great, very fast and efficient :highfive:
Was wondering if it was just mine....finally had a chance to try this and remove TWRP but when I turned the phone off the red light came on as if it was charging but after 30 mins and turning it back on it hadn't charged any. Everything else works great though!
offline charging not working
Thought it was just me so didn't report it before but also confirm offline charging doesn't work for me either. Purposely turned off phone, charged for 2 hours but battery remained at same level. Everything else seemed to work fine.

I've been wondering about that myself since I first found about the offline charging problem. No one seems to have addressed this question in any of the threads I've read (i.e. what to do if the phone goes down to 0%).
Thankfully, I haven't gotten to the situation where my battery was completely discharged. Though it pains me not to have touch, gonna switch to the CWM non-touch for now until the devs can get the touch recoveries working correctly.

After reading about this bug (and not really seeing any answers for it), I am holding out on rooting/installing custom ROM on my One X+ for now. Also, I haven't really seen any ROMs worth switching to. Hopefully, with time we will get more ROM and more customization.
I would advise everyone running this to either go back to TWRP or to the manual CWM for the time being till a few bugs get worked out. The OP knows about them. Both TWRP and manual CWM work perfectly fine , manual CWM allows offmode charging I believe while TWRP still does not.
For the questions about running the phone to 0% really don't see why anyone does this but if you catch yourself getting into a situation like that simply turn the phone off before it gets to 0% then when you can get to a charger turn it back on and charge it normally.

AT&T CWM by Lloir which can be found in Original Development Section Works Perfect. Off charging is fine. I have let my battery die 3 times on it and it worked fine. It just doesn't have the touch interface, you use volume rockers and power button.

I think he was probably picking up on your recommendation to use either TWRP or the non-touch CWM. I think leaving TWRP on your device is just asking for trouble due to the off-mode charging problem. Granted no one intentionally drains to 0%, but if you forgot you left your phone on then you're in for some headaches getting it back. Better to just use non-touch CWM or the stock recovery.

Description: It started when I was flashing faux's kernel in TWRP on top of hyperdrive rom. The flash failed, I tried to reboot the phone it shut off. It even go into odin/recovery so that means its hard bricked .The possible solutions I've come with are 1. buy a j-tag 2.ship it to mobiletechvideos.com 3. insurance. I prefer buying a jay tag because i could fix bricks in the future but i don't know if it will work for sure .
Question 1: What is the best solution to fix my hard bricked phone?
Question 2: What caused the hard brick?
Question 3: Will a j-tag work with the SCH-I545 ; in my situation and if so how reliably?
I didn't do any research before i did any of this, I was careless and I'm paying for it.

What exactly do you mean by "it shut off and is hard bricked"? Specifically what happens when you poweron the device.

A hard brick is unlikely, not impossible, but unlikely. Can you get into download mode? try several battery pulls and try to get in to download mode after each one.
Hard Bricked
When I tried rebooting it shut off black screen, doesn't register when plugged into computer and odin/recovery doesn't work. When i woke up this morning it was warm last night it wasn't if that means anything.
So you can't get in to either Odin mode or the Recovery mode?
Hi
My Lg p768 died and a quick search from shows that my motherboard just failed. Its still within the warranty period but i've rooted the phone and installed CM. Since the phone isnt booting up at all will they be able to check whether i've rooted it? Because rooting the phone void the warranty if im not mistaken.
Thanks.

If I'm in your boot, I will just try my luck with warranty. If they found out about the bootloader, then just say that's it; If they didn't bother to test, then chances are you will get a replacement. No harm and only good for you, right?

Does this activate dm-verity? Unlock image when the device turns on?
Are they still being updated via OTA?
can anyone confirm this actually works
Tell me, please, can I use this method to unlock the bootloader on a similar smartphone Sharp Aquos S2?
Model: ASUS_Z01KD
Android: 7.1.1

is not working. ;(
This works 100 % ( frp bypass ) !
Phone is locked by google account , setting back to factory settings dose not help !
Short story what you have to do :
1 unlock bootloader -> ZF4_ZE554KL_UNLOCK -> ze554kl_unlock.bat
2 install custom recovery like TWRP 3.1
3 disable dm-verity -> flash -> no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0 , reboot to recovery , do a full system backup
4 this is very important don't forget to flash dm-verity , otherwise boot-loop !
5 clear cache or do a factory reset
6 done !
7 when the phone starts , every time there will be a annoying message , totally normal ,don't worry !
Here are some pictures about the unlocking process

Seems to work!
UPDATE: Relock does not work! Anyone have any suggestions on making this work?
Work on Oreo 8.0? I can restore to use warranty?
Yes, it works on 8.0, I did all the OTAs first. Not sure on warranty.
Tips:
* Get Developer mode and ADB shell working first (tell the phone to always trust your computer)
* Volume Up+Power on for fastboot mode, Volume Down+Power on for recovery. Long hold power to force phone off (unplug USB first).
* Use this version of TWRP (thanks shakalaca): https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620764455
* no_verity_opt_encrypt 6.0 works: https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/
* Make sure your USB cable is unplugged when booting to TWRP recovery or it will hang. You can plug it back in once TWRP loads.
Is there a possibility to get this to work with a ZD553KL (Selfie)?
I've been looking inside has the file relock.bat, does it serve to block the bootloader of zenfone 3 zoom ze553kl ?
does this method lose userdata or not?

From what I know it is possible to unlock the bootloader with the device in bootloop (but since the problem is something in /data). But if it is already the third time that happens, how did you solve the other two times?
And the unofficial unlock method works on Android 8 (ASUS has never released Android 8.1 for Zenfone 4).
Just wanted to say that this method worked on the Pie beta as well (tried myself), in case someone is wondering whether it works or not.
