Question Can't add fingerprint - device vibrates like hell - OnePlus Nord 2 5G

I am having an odd issue... In my Nord 2 the motherboard has been recplaced by OP since I had several issues including a batterydrain that would drain 60% in 8 hours standby without sims and wifi disconnected. Flashing stock (at OnePlus-servicepoint SOMETIMES fixed that - they reflashed stock 4 or 5 times).
Anyway. New motherboard placed at the servicepoint. Stock rom. TWRP, rooted, Magisk 23.0. Nothing else. Freezed some Google-apps with Titanium but nothing else. Google account installed and downloaded just 3 or 4 apps (App Ops, Titanium, Mega und Solid Explorer).
I CAN set-up a PIN-code/PIN-lock for the device (works), but once I want to set a fingerprint the device starts vibrating like hell and it gives an error. Nothing was done since the last return to OnePlus where fingerprint worked. I have the official screenprotector (from OnePlus store, which was on before and it worked perfectly) but nothing else. No case whatsoever.
I am getting so sick of this device. Nothing but trouble, trouble, trouble. Anyone with suggestions? Bwoagh I'd hate to start setting things up over and over again and again and again without knowing the cause. Every time other errors appear. Blegh!
To make sure: TWRP is working correctly and also bootloader works fine!!!

Check your camera to see if it works; If both the camera and fingerprint don't work, that's a symptom the persist partition is corrupted.
The persist partition contains sensor calibration data for the OPN2, and is calibrated and unique to each and every device.
TWRP is known to corrupt the persist image when you try to restore to an TWRP backup; This is a fault with the TWRP software, not the phone.
The fix is to simply use fastboot to flash the persist image manually for a fix; If you have a TWRP backup, locate your "persist_image.emmc.win" file, then boot into fastboot, and use the command "FASTBOOT flash persist persist_image.emmc.win" from your powershell aka usually the same as your ADB terminal
In future, avoid restoring the persist partition using TWRP to avoid the same issue.

@Zombnombs: first of all, thank you for your reply, this is crucial information. Nevertheless, this SHOULD not be for my device.
Than my device was factory re-flashed in a OnePlus-service-point. Then I updated via OTA, after that installed TWRP but did NOT mess in TWRP, just rooted by flashing Magisk and then I tried to set up the fingerprint... which doesn't work.
What I DID notice so far, is that when a OnePlus Servicepoint flashes back stockrom (with a specific Programm that do not give us), it sometimes leaves recidu of former "****" on the phone. Since I had 5 or 6 factory flashes in 2 months I know what I am talking about. The ROM is factory resetted but last time a TWRP folder SURVIVED for whatever reason even the servicepoint can't explain.
My phone WAS totally corrupted BEFORE the last factory flash, and I ASSUME something "from the past" causes this. Bottomline: set up the phone 4 times already (cost me a day) and it's still not working as it should. Yes. I am close to selling, although I actually like the device.

Understanding rooting and rom'ing

So I got my shiny new device today, and it feels really nice. I worked with the launcher it came with, tried another one, and realized that yep, I gotta root and install a new rom. The notification bar just annoys me too much as I'm used to having quick actions and other things in there.
So, I followed a few guides, and finally worked my way through to having my command line find my device and can successfully reboot it into fastboot mode.
At that point, I realized that I can boot into recoveries without flashing them first (essentially trying them out to see how it works). However, I tried the 4 official version on the twrp site, and one made by a user here (cuoco92). They all successfully boot into the recover using the command "fastboot boot nameOfFileHere.img". At this point, every single recovery failed to respond to touch and volume presses. I can press the power button to turn off the screen, and pressing power to turn the screen back on shows a locked recovery screen, but I can't slide the screen to unlock it.
This is quite concerning to me. I don't want to flash a recovery for good if it's not working properly. I hope this makes sense. Or, is it normal to just flash a recovery and hope for the best? Do recoveries work with just booting to them without being flashed?
I haven't rooted and/or flashed any devices in about 5+ years, the last being a phone from virgin mobile that supported sd cards. When installing new roms, do we store the zips in the root of the phone, or does this get cleared out/deleted when doing the wipe cache/dalvik/etc?
Personally, I just want to make sure I don't rush into this, as there seems to be fragmented results when searching around for twrp not working with touch. I know these things have been asked before plenty of times, and I hope I don't come across as another "ugh, this again" post. I really appreciate any responses!
you never did, then just leave it as it is...its a nice phone eui is not bad... take it easy
Try booting the official TWRP recovery. As far as I remember, some of the versions tweaked by Cuoco92 had issues with the touch panel.
Anyway, EUI is not that bad, as your were told. While I used it, I also used an app called "Notification Toggles", which lets you get Quick Settings like toggles on notification area. It's nice and easy to set up, and the results, although not the same as having the AOSP toggles, is quite nice and convenient.
BTW, which stock ROM did your phone come with?
I have tried 4 different official twrp files (all from the twrp site). My phone is an x820 6gb/64gb and came with EUI version: 5.8.019S (Stable). EUI is nice, very fast and sleek. Maybe I do just need to get used to it, or maybe it's just me itching to try out the different options available since I finally have a phone is not carrier/manufacturer locked down.
Heyyo, hmm that's very odd indeed! I wonder if maybe by temporary booting Cuoco92's TWRP it could have messed up your recovery hmm...
I'd recommend first to flash the stock recovery over your current one and then reboot to fastboot and then flash TWRP. Hopefully this will erase any problem that Cuoco92's recovery could have caused.
This was the guide I followed and it worked flawlessly for me
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/protocol-backup-stock-rom-flash-stock-t3517151
I never actually flashed any of them. I have only ever just tried booting into them using "fastboot boot recovery name.img". I have not used the fastboot flash command for any of the files.
The only thing I can do after booting the recoveries is hold the power button and eventually the phone will boot up normally.
Remember that I just wanted to boot them to make sure they worked before flashing them. I'll be checking out the guide you linked shortly.
Haven't flashed any of them eh? Hmm should work just fine then... Have you tried TWRP 3.0.2-0 ? I know that one was built with Marshmallow sources
As for which ROM to try? I'd recommend OmniROM if you want to try a custom Nougat ROM.
If you want to see why I think so? I made a massive post or two about it here heh
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/help/party-rom-best-help-t3691165/
Thank you so much for the guide you linked. I'm making a little bit of progress here.
I found a twrp recover by cuocos92 that is labeled V3 (apparently from what I read in other threads, V3 seems to be good with the 6gb/64gb models). This recovery allows the use of the touchscreen . Remember that I am only using the "fastboot boot" command so no flashing yet.
Now that I am in a working recovery, I kept hitting "keep read only" so that the stock recovery would not be replaced. I set out to make a backup. Well that kept failing with attempts of trying to mount /system and such. Off to more reading, found out that using the Wipe->Swipe to Factory Reset inside twrp fixes this. I did that. I successfully created a backup.
Now to try to flash the SuperSU zip I have, which was previously copied to the root of the phone from my pc. Can't see any zip files on the internal storage. Reboot the phone (forgetting that it takes a long time after the wipe). Copy the backup to my pc. Copy the SuperSU back to root of phone. Restart the process of adb and fastboot -> back into the cuocos92 V3 recovery. Still no zip to be found. Couldn't mount system again...
Did some more reading. I just attempted the Wipe->Format data. I am currently rebooting back into the phone to set it up again. Apparently, a lot of people say this needs to be done if we did not reboot after unlocking the bootloader. Since twrp has been asking for a password each time I entered it, the format data is supposed to solve this.
I'll edit/post again with more steps or results.
I apologize for the second post here, but this seems more than should go into an appended edit:
After doing the Wipe->Format data, it's advised to reboot back into the recovery. Without flashing the twrp cuocos92 recovery, my thoughts are it would just be back into the stock recovery. At least the twrp version works, so I have no problems with flashing it. And then I'll have to Wipe->Format data again, reboot back into recovery, and then I can flash my SuperSU zip. But how can I get my SuperSU zip on the phone?
Doesn't Wipe->Format data remove it? Everytime I reboot my phone after that the SuperSU on the root of the phone is gone. I can't seem to mount to my pc from the recovery either, clicking the usb storage just unchecks itself right away, and clicking the enable MTP doesn't seem to do anything. So, even if I flash the recovery, Wipe-Format data again, reboot back into the recovery, I still don't see a way of getting the SuperSU zip onto the phone anyways.
I know it probably sounds like I'm whining by now about how things aren't as easy as it seems. I'm trying to be descriptive in what I am doing and what's happening.
Hmm by chance are you using Windows 10? At least I've noticed for me it fails to properly mount the correct drivers for ADB and MTP for TWRP. I'd recommend checking device manager.
If I remember correctly here's what mine looked like at first
https://photos.app.goo.gl/wXaqbi3OeH3bKEf62
Select MTP > update driver > browse my computer > let me pick > (standard MTP Device) > MTP USB Device
Sorry I'm not in front of my PC but I'm sure it's something like that to solve it
If that doesn't work? You can always use...
Code:
adb push ROM.zip /sdcard
Which will copy the zip file to the root of your data storage (on the Le Max 2 much like the One Plus 3 they use /Sdcard as a shortcut since we don't have external Sdcard hardware).
As for system read only? Swipe to allow modifications. Can't flash a ROM properly if the system is read only eh? Hence the failed to mount system.
It's really just there as a disclaimer to cover their ass in case people use TWRP improperly and brick their device. Following green man gaming's guide is safe as I've used it plus many other people as you'll see in his replies
I'd also recommend following the guide and flashing TWRP to your recovery. I only did boot recovery image for backup and then booted to EUI and copied that backup to my PC.
Format data is handy to get rid of encryption and also give you full access to your storage capacity because when I didn't before I didn't get 54.43GB of data storage only something like 40GB.
Tbh I haven't used any custom EUI ROMs but if you're fighting with TWRP? I know Cuoco92's eui has a fastboot installable version
Hope this helps
Well thank you so much for the information. I am running windows 10, but never saw mtp under portable devices, only the phone name Le Max 2. That's ok, as I booted (still not flashed) into recovery and this time I swiped to allow modifications. I still couldn't mount /system but I was able to use the adb push command and the SuperSU file appeared inside the /sdcard directory when looking under Install inside twrp. I swiped to flash the zip, then hit reboot system. Looking in the SuperSU app, I noticed that the setting "Install SuperSU into /system" is greyed out. Well, at least I think it worked.
At this point in time, since things appear to be working, I'll be flashing the recovery and installing OmniRom (it was either this or Resurrection Remix). I think if the play store just works on OmniRom like people mention, it'll be worth it.
So, my steps will be to:
adb -> fastboot -> fastboot flash recovery fileName.img
recovery -> wipe -> factory wipe (using factory to get rid of system encryption) -> reboot back into recovery
recovery -> wipe -> dalvik/cache (do i still need to do this after factory wipe?)
adb -> adb push romFileName.zip /sdcard
adb -> adb push gapps.zip /sdcard
recovery -> install -> /sdcard -> romFileName.zip
recover -> install -> /sdcard -> gapps.zip
At any point do I need to flash SuperSU again? I guess I should after flashing the rom/gapps because, afterall, SuperSU is an app.
Once again, thank you so much for all the information that you have already provided!
Heyyo, it's always recommended to do a full wipe when installing a different ROM so you should format data, wipe system, data, dalvik and cache and then install the ROM of choice with Gapps of choice
Wiping system is OK when flashing a ROM as it'll write into system.. plus there's always the risk of instability if system is not wiped if a Gremlin setting is left over from previous ROM
I'd recommend using Magisk v14.3 over SuperSU as SuperSU doesn't have the same functionality as Magisk for passing SafetyNet...
Plus Magisk is full open source software (FOSS) where as SuperSU is closed source so gotta love that open source (this part is more personal preference since Android is built upon open source and people working together).
Plus there's really cool Magisk modules you can do like ART Optimizer and so fourth if you check the XDA forum section for it
Also, you're welcome! We all had our start on XDA at different points and passing on the knowledge I find is just as important as the ROMs we love
Don't use SuperSU. Magisk is the way to go for rooting nowadays. Easy, systemless, updated frequently to pass safetynet. It's a no brainer.

[Solved] Reinstall Stock on Huawei Mediapad M3 (All Partitions Wiped)

Hello,
I made a mistake when rooting the tablet (BTV-W09), I think related to using HiSuite to restore a backup which then basically left me without a working OS, since I needed to input an unlock code with no keyboard.
Long story short after trying many methods like "dload" via sdcard with firmware finder files or using HuRUUpdater via TWRP all I have right now is a completely clean tablet, no OS installed, all I can do is
1. Boot into fastboot but adb doesn't work I assume it only does when OS is installed, so this is completely useless for me. Also of course HiSuite doesn't recognize the tablet here or in any other mode whatsoever.
2. Boot into upgrade mode but it fails to flash UPDATE.APP from sdcard/dload. I'm using the same exact firmware I was using before this fiasco.
3. Boot into eRecovery but I don't get any options to factory reset, never did (and of course after wiping everything that's gone I guess if it ever could be enabled), I can only "download from internet" but it ALWAYS fails with getting package info error or something like that, apparently it's common for people to get this.
4. Boot into TWRP, but I cannot flash update.zip, it fails with "update package from zip failed"
I have the bootloader unlocked of course. And SDCard is working, 100% functional, no errors.
Is there any way to flash stock firmware on this thing or is it a paperweight now.
Thanks for you time
HuRuUpdater did the trick as explained here. Not sure if the NANDROID backup restore was necessary prior to that, probably yes as all the partitions were cleared.

Bricked my Mi Pad 4 / Xiaomi Account question.

Didn't realize how common this was until I had to look around for a fix. Apparently when flashing a new rom (In this case it was Oxygen OS, Bliss, and Lineage I was trying) It's possible to screw up your Persist partition which govern your sensors. As a result me and a few other people when flashing new roms lose auto-rotate. So I was looking on ways to fix it, but the downloads were too old and broken.
So **** it, I decided to try flashing Miui global from the recovery tool.
So my system image, and recovery image are gone. That leaves me with just Fastboot with unlocked bootloader.
I explained my situation, but here's what I'm really asking. #1 I used to have a Xiaomi account that was authorized to unlock my bootloader. It's been over a year, but before the recovery tool bricked my Mi Pad, it said EDL not authorized. So do you lose your permissions over time? Anyway to get it back.
And #2, does anyone have, know, or would like to provide me backups to vendor, firmware, and/or persist so I can try to fix those? I don't have the time tonight, but even though I don't have a system or recovery, I'm assuming with an unlocked bootloader and fastbook, I can still flash twrp, and work my way from there...
Lastly #3, does anyone know how to bypass EDL not authorized in the recovery tool? This is my preferred way of recovery, since it would reflash all the partitions back to stock and I could just re-mod from there...
I have actually recovered from a destroyed system image, destroyed recovery image, with a locked bootloader. But didn't encounter the EDL issue in my memory, it's been so long I forgot how that happened
Just like to add that I discovered that I still have recovery access, so I could just flash a rom to get back into working order, but that still leaves my sensors not working. So if anyone has a link or backup for Persist partition that would be appreciated
Okay, I know no one replied or helped, but I resolved my own issue, and I'll describe how I messed myself up to get myself better.
1. Flashed a rom via TWRP, this somehow led to rotation not working. Learned rotation sensor data is in Persist partition. Assuming this partition overwritten, corrupted, or likely wiped due to negligence.
2. This led to me trying out Xiaomi recovery tool. I would find out that my account isn't authorized anymore. So flashing tool would always stop flashing when it came to flashing the kernel. Then I created this thread for help. Particularly to acquire a backup of someone's Persist. Help did not arrive
3. This led me to download the Chinese rom (flagship zip) of Miui for Xiaomi Mi Pad 4. This was going to overwrite my recovery and vendor partitions, so I was hoping it would flash my Persist partition as well.
4. System would not boot, softbrick/bootloop. Recovery reverted to stock Chinese. Bootloader still unlocked. Booted into Fastboot
5. ADB terminal, typed:
Code:
fastboot devices
Getting device ID, looking good. Then typed
Code:
fastboot flash recovery rec.img
(I renamed TWRP to rec.img for lazy reasons) ADB says writing flashed recovery successful.
I reboot into recovery. Recovery still Chinese stock ?️?️?
Back to Fastboot, repeat #5, same. Then I type
Code:
fastboot erase recovery
ADB confirms erased recovery, I type:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery
ADB does not detect recovery. So I'm thinking my recovery is gone now... Then I try booting into recovery through Vol Up + Power to make sure recovery had been destroyed... Recovery still Chinese stock ?️?️??
So my assumption was correct that I couldn't overwrite my recovery partition, and my fear was that I needed to enable USB debugging even though my system partition is destroyed
6. I boot back into Fastboot and I type
Code:
fastboot boot rec.img
This boots TWRP without flashing it to your recovery partition... Atleast this works.
7. Attempt to wipe System/Data/Cache/Internal, even though only half those weren't necessary. Could not wipe. Mounted, then repeated... Could not wipe. Assuming this was encryption related, I go back to Wipe and just Slide to format to factory conditions. Finally getting somewhere here.
8. Tired of this hole I dug myself into, I plug in my USB flash drive and flashed TWRP Permanently using TWRP, reboot into recovery to confirm -> looking good -> Flash Lineage + Gapps, with the acceptance that because I didn't have an authorized Xiaomi account anymore, and no one would share a Persist backup, that I was just gonna have to deal with no rotation and rely on an app-crutch
9. Boot into System, rotation working. ?️??️
I didn't think flashing the zippable Chinese rom would actually fix Persist. I originally intend to just use the Chinese Miui and setting up my Mi Pad 4 with my Xiaomi account to somehow re-authorize my account to try the flashing tool again. I did not expect the bootloop, and I damn sure didn't expect ADB telling me I successfully flashed recovery or erased it, only to find out stock recovery kept refusing to go away.
And my final question is:
Can anyone tell me how much usable storage the 32GB Mi Pad 4 should freaking have?!
I always used Micro SD flashed as Internal Storage so I'd always see 80GB free. But now on a fresh install on a new rom I see that I only have 22GB usable storage, on a 32GB device, Lineage less than 1GB, and gapps only 200MB. So all together OS should not exceed 2-3GB unpacked...
WHERE THE HELL IS THE REST OF MY STORAGE?!
I SHOULD HAVE 5 MORE GB, I SHOULD HAVE 26~27GB OF USABLE STORAGE BUT MY SYSTEM SAYS ONLY 22Gb
DOES anyone else have 10GB of storage missing?!
How much should I have?!
Thanks this is good read and may help someone in the future.
There is a persist.zip shared in the Miui 12 port thread.
I have the 64gb version but never took notice of how much remaining storage out of the box. Next time I flash a ROM I'll check and let you know.

Yeah, I found persist zips but the link was broken.
This is actually the 2nd time I bricked my device, but the 1st time I bricked it, I had just got it around the same time I got the Poco F1, so I had a Xiaomi account, with authorization. So I assumed how I un-bricked my device the 1st time, would fix the brick the 2nd time. I never imagined my account would lose authorization. So flashing the Miui using the Xiaomi recovery tool was useless. So I had to learn/relearn other tricks.
I actually enjoy bricking my devices a little bit for the experience to learn new things. Like this time, I didn't know you could run a recovery on the side through fastboot commands without flashing it. I also didn't know that recovery partition would reject flashes because mi stock recovery was encrypted (or maybe it was a USB debugging thing) , I didn't know Mi Flash authorization could be revoked, and I didn't know what the Persist partition did.
My 1st brick happened because of the Mi recovery tool. No one told me that if you buy a Mi Pad 4 with unlocked bootloader from AliExpress, use the Mi recovery tool, the tool actually intentionally bricks your device and locks your bootloader. The fix for that was opening the mi pad up, shorting some contacts, force the pad into EDL mode, and use a patched bat file and run the tool again and pray it takes. Because I wasn't authorized it wouldn't run the tool.
Thank ****ing God my bootloader was still unlocked this time. I don't think I could have came back
Post 225 in the Miui 12 port thread, the persist.zip is still being shared I checked just now. Not that you really need it if flashing the full rom got your rotation back.
There was 1 time my twrp touch screen became unresponsive after flashing and trying different twrps, and then system touch screen also gone dead, so I can't restore persist even if I wanted to.
One question, lots of tutorials talk about extracting the persist.zip from the fastboot ROM, but I can't find it in the fastboot rom... But the MiFlash tool had never failed me so anything goes wrong I'll just MiFlash it.

Need help disabling phone encryption on Redmi Note 9 Pro Global (joyeuse)

I was a Mi A2 user for a while, now I'm moving to Note 9 Pro and I feel a bit lost because of lacking of guides and tools.
I encounter some unexpected issues with disabling phone encryption. In short, I followed the steps I used for my Mi A2, but it seemed only working partially, and I encountered boot loop when upgrading ROM afterwards.
The details are as follow:
I have Note 9 Pro global (joyeuse), originally it was on stock ROM V11.0.5.0.QJZMIXM
After unlocking bootloader, I booted to TWRP with TWRP-3.4.1B-joyeuse-fix.img (from https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/custom-twrp-3-4-1b-for-redmi-note-9-pro-joyeuse.56896/ ) and flashed Magisk, then Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_03.04.2020.zip (from https://zackptg5.com/android.php#disverfe )
Everything was fine, I could debloat and disable Xiaomi services, and Google Pay was working (with Magisk Hide and MagiskHide Props Config).
But when entering TWRP again, TWRP requested passcode to decrypt data, that's when I realized the phone was not decrypted. Booting to normal mode, phone Settings showed "Encrypted". But because TWRP was able to decrypt with passcode and could backup as normal, so I ignored it.
When V11.0.7.0.QJZMIXM was released, I backed up /data using TWRP and flashed the new ROM using fastboot without erasing data. Then the phone was in boot loop (it showed redmi logo then vibrated then rebooted)
I flashed back V11.0.5.0.QJZMIXM without erasing data, but it still entered boot loop.
I decided to wipe data (using TWRP and using Wipe menu in XIaomi recovery mode), but boot loop still occurred.
I flashed V11.0.7.0.QJZMIXM again, but this time without keeping data (flash_all.bat), but boot loop still occurred.
I accidentally selected flash all & lock bootloader (in MiFlashTool), then phone could boot up normally. But I lost root, and bootloader was relocked.
Additional info: In a rage, I turned on Developer mode and tapped to bind mi account, and now I have to wait 168hrs to unlock bootloader again.
Questions:
What have I done wrong that the phone entered boot loop even after wiping data?
What's the proper way of using TWRP so that I can backup data and can update ROM in the future without going through this mess again?

first of all you are not the only one that faces same problems. So chears mate. Next is the TWRP and the lack of stable/working version since i have done quite few phones now i can tell that the TWRP encryption ignore is not persistent and it works while you don't touch the recovery and not booting it up. Upon the boot it triggers the encryption and although he filesystem is not encrypted it still thinks it is.
Solution for now? wait for the fixed version while this is new phone and may take some time to re-code he recovery (find the damn cause of the encryption trigger).
Anyways. I am still thinking to do the fastboot rom mod, root it while it is not flashed and hen flash it while i don't actually need. I just need to remove all the miui/xiaomi stuff, block the damn ADS and root the phone and those things can be done on a pc i am just figuring out the correct way to do i.
The idea about skipping the TWRP came right after i downloaded mi-flash tool and found out that it uses same fastboot mode to flash everything and the file structure of the rom is not packet or something. Img files can be exacted and re-packed again so everything in the image can be modified.
What i really hate is the fact that there is tons of tools for other phones but somehow Xiaomi was skipped in the device selection...
Downloaded unlock tool, nice but limited to only requesting ad unlocking the phones bootloader. Next thing is the flash tool, it is limited to only flashing. There is xiaomi tool v2 that can also install the twrp, and cause the encryption crap or download and install stock or xiaomi.eu...
What i was looking for was the tool that can take the stock, decompress it and allow you to choose the apps you want to be per-installed, add some functions to it, mod bootscreens, pre-root it and eventually pack and flash the damn thing. While you are skipping the recovery procedure you are way safer than with its crap.
Agree with me?

More than one month, 280 view, 1 comment, no solution, no answer. Everyone out there are competing with each other to create their own ROMs/recovery/kernel images with whatever catchy names they can think of. Nice. But what's the point if the basics are not yet nailed down?
BTW, Telegram channel is flooded with non-contributing chit chat.
My casual observation is that lrtwrp seems to be a common theme for those who have had major issues on Joyeuse.

For what it's worth, TWRP does not currently have any official builds for curtana OR joyeuse as far as I can tell. The flashing of early, unofficial, pre-alpha ports of TWRP directly onto partitions causing bricks is not that surprising. Xiaomi locking down EDL access is a ****ty move, but still.

"Medium" bricked mido with damaged persist, kernel and maybe modem images[?] (and others)

Problem (symptomatic): Phone doesn't start, always boots into bootloader. Have to go into recovery (OrangeFox), flash an OS every time - only Lineage OS 17.1 and RR Pie start up. Logs into the introduction screen. Wi-Fi, hotspot, mobile data - nothing works - freezes UI. When I try rebooting the installed OS, Lineage OS and RR P both load for some(really-long)time and finally boot into recovery. Tried flashing RR Q - booted into introduction screen, then immediately shut off with the obvious text "Shutting Off".
Device: Redmi Note 4 MediaTek (mido) 2GB 32GB.
Investigation: I think whatever is happening is because of one (or more) of the following reasons -
I tried flashing Ethereal kernel (Ethereal-Clang12-Mido-20210102.zip) into the stock from TWRP Install. When it didn't work (or did, Idk) I actually flashed it two more times. I was trying to install RR Q initially, and it kept saying something like treble-version-incompatible.
Looking up, they said updating TWRP works. So I tried updating to 3.5.0_9-0 from 3.3.1.0. Idk if this is an unstable version but it asked for a password. I tried all passwords suggested on XDA, didn't work. I don't have encryption on my device and 3.3.1 never asked for a password. I finally decided to do a full wipe. Don't remember correctly but I think this is where from it just went downhill.
Installed RR Pie, wireless services (modem?) wouldn't work. Tried fixing kernel by installing boot.img from recovery. Wouldn't work. So now I decided to flash kernel into the boot partition from Fastboot using fastboot flash boot Ethereal-Clang12-Mido-20210102.zip.
Nothing worked anymore and I installed OrangeFox which is better but of no avail to my problems. To further understand my issues, I fastbooted and force wrote the boot.img from RR Q into my persist (a partition?) Yeah. I know. What can I say, I was just possessed by madness.
Now my persist is damaged.
I don't remember correctly, but if mobile data and those network thingies don't work, I'd assume I also tried flashing something incorrect into the modem image partitons...
What I tried doing:
Flashing boot.img of RR Q to fix kernel.
Flash multiple kernels on the inernet.
I think none of these work because these installs are supposed to be conducted as extensions or upgrades over the base framework. Which is gone I think?
So here's my remnant solution strategy:
I replace all of the files and directories in my / folder (the folder accessible only to the device; the base folder of a Linux system) with whatever came initially from some similar device.
I try option #1.
I honestly don't know what to do. If I copy all of the files in the / folder from some other similar mido phone using a recovery tool and paste it on mine:
Can I even do that?
Here's a logical deduction: while the recovery app works, some files should be in use. The system should thus not let me touch those specific entries. Thus I can't paste (but surely copy) those files from somewhere; but then I can't write them onto my device in recovery. Do I need to? If yes, can fastboot be used?
Are there particular files in the / folder that are device specific? Does that mean I'll have to use Terminal to change them?
Are there easier (or, depending on the gravity of the situation, existent-at-all) alternatives? Like images for every single partition (and some partitions aren't accessible to the installer I suppose. So I may have to use Terminal)? If no, can anyone provide me the files from /?
So that's it. Tell me what you think. Quick would be awesome; I'll totally do your laundry for a week.
Nevermind, problem solved. Had to reflash modem image. Didn't know such a thing existed. Phone working fine now, in fact am typing from it.

....I've a similar problem. My phone stuck at bootscreen.
Where did you get the modem image and how did you flash?

Google "modem image for Redmi Note 4 mido". Hopefully you'll come across an isolated modem image.
If not, download stock image for RN4 mido and derive the modem image.
Note that you'll have to download the fastboot flashable image, which comes in a .tar.gz kind of a format. You'll have to extract it TWICE, once from .tar.gz to .tar, then from .tar to a normal folder. Then go browse that folder. You'll come across a directory somewhere called "images". It should contain all images that get flashed on different positions. It will also contain a "scatter text", something that probably tells the computer what to flash and where. Open it and see which one gets flashed in the modem partition(s). Flash it using -
Code:
fastboot flash <modem partition codename> <modem image name>.img
