Hi there XDA forums
I'm looking for a custom ROM for a Samsung a01 core since Samsung's system is crashing the settings and the amount of bloatware they added into it.
I'm still new to the "custom ROM" topic, so I thought asking here is better than google it for an custom ROM for the phone (i tried searching it, but only shows websites containing fake stuff on custom ROMs that is not even supported to the device)
I'm also looking for an especially rom that is on the android go version (or one that's small but still on android 10 or 9, since some apps I use every day need these versions to work.)
Any idea how can I start my journey into the custom ROMs? thanks!
(note: sorry if my English is a little bit broken, I am from Brazil and I'm still learning English)

There are no rom's for the Galaxy A01 core yet, but you can remove the blootwares with root.
There are already tutorials to root galaxy A01 core.

Hello,
I'm booting Android 2.2 on my TOuch Pro2 using HaRET(as many people does too), but I want to make Android my default OS, so there is any NAND Boot ROM out there on the wild?
Best Regards,
Nathan Paulino Campos
actually, there is , here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870081
but it still needs lots of development, so stay alert, and take care
Search before you hit new thread! There's no way you couldn't have found that thread, especially based on the terms you put in here...
Hell, XDA searches for you before you post a new thread - I'm betting that thread popped up lol.
In this forum i can see two threads:
"Galaxy S II Original Android Development"
and
"Galaxy S II Android Development"
What's the difference?
Thanks!

Bad move. Anyway, read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1219612

WRONG WRONG WRONG .
jje
seriously I always wonder about the right answer even I read the original post of the difference, I am not very good in english maybe thats why I didn't fully undertand the main difference, but I guess the below:
Original android: after sometime the ROM is being stable so it goes to that forum
Android: still under development and not proved to be usable as stable version
NOTE: I am not sure at all, and please if any one knows the right answer to confirm it ... we are not all good english speakers
In all honesty, why does it matter ? It's not important. However...Original Android development is exactly that, a forum for stuff that is original. Whereas Android development has pretty much 'everything else' development-wise & stuff that is often based on/contains parts of someone else's work.
I still don't get why knowing this is so important to you ? Besides, if you'd read & followed the link you were given (which lead to other links and an eventual answer), you would have got the answer I just gave you.

I must be stupid but...
If we look at Original ROM index we've got Sammy, AOKP & AOSP based ROMs for both ICS & GB.
If we then take a look at Android ROM index we have Sammy, AOKP, AOSP & MIUI ROMs, also for ICS & GB.. and a new one for JB
Plus custom kernels in both sections aswell.
If by original we're talking about pure original as in not a modified/port of an already existing ROM then shouldn't it only be official Cyanogen, Kang, MIUI ROMS and maybe official Sammy releases in Original section?
Always Original Android best google experience
*edit* sorry, didn't notice general warning, please move to Q&A
I migrated from SGS i9000 to a huawei G700 phone featuring a mtk6589 chipset.
Sadly, the android version limits the possibilities of the phone really hard: it's oriented towards users who play nicely with their phone, not towards me!
so, to keep a long story short, I'd like CM to be ported to this device. this is not a top-of-the-line product, so I'll certainly have to do it myself.
I already got the complete OS image, kernel properties, installed applications, and so on (boot.img, uboot.img, ...), locally installed here.
the question is: where to go from here? In your guides, I can follow what the developers explain to do and why they are doing it, but I got no idea how to convert this OS image into a CM image ...
Also, as there are apparently developers waiting for mtk6859 roms, should I send them a message asking for their help? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2375957
the only issue here is that I can't contact them yet because of the noob limit.
Hi,
This is my first post on XDA, so please let me know if I violated any rules of this forum.
I have observed that there is a dearth of custom ROMs for Samsung devices with Exynos chipsets in general. Since the manufacturer doesn't provide much support/update after ~2 years, i think it there should be a way to increase the life of the device.
As an example, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (SM N920G) running Android Nougat and i couldn't find any ROM with Android Oreo supporting this device.
I have no knowledge of Android ROM development, so please forgive me if my questions are stupid or too basic.
1. How difficult is it to create a custom ROM in general and does Samsung make it difficult for developers by not releasing the kernel sources?
2. If the devices share a common chipset, how difficult is it to port the custom ROM to make it work for another device? Ex: If there is a custom ROM working for Samsung Galaxy S6, how much work does it require to make it work for Galaxy Note 5 as well?
I was desperate to try Android Oreo on my device and i have some time to burn this weekend. So i was wondering if i could try and create a custom ROM for myself.
I've also searched XDA and found some guides which were written for Marshmallow/Nougat. I am not sure if the same methods can work for Android Oreo as well.
I am looking for any inputs/suggestions and any sources you could point me to in my attempt to learn.
* I know the word "best" in the title is a crazy word to use.
If I can at least narrow down what to look for and where it is I'll have a good start.
There are so many guides for so many various ROMs, Lineages, apps, launchers, etc I am utterly lost.
I see one "Index" called "Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Android Development" which I suppose I ought to *ONLY* look at, but then I also see pages that tell me I can put Android Oreo or Nugget on my phone! How? Which one?
Is this so? Where are those ROMs and are they installed differently that the ones in the "Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Android Development" section? Must I only consider 4.4.2 ROMs? Aarrrgh!
When the phone starts up we see the Verizon logo and an unlocked lock that says Custom underneath. I can choose Continue or Recovery.
* Continue runs the stock phone.
* Recovery runs a safestrap 3.72 (twrp v2.7.0.0) window with 8 option buttons.
The phone is an SM-N900v 4.4.2 build nc4.
I see a lot of n9005 options. Should I consider those ROMs?
I understand the concept of downloading a ROM to a miniSD card and using safestrap to load from the SD card. Is it that simple or ???
Mostly because it was the 1st ROM I came across that I found a way to download, I downloaded:
[ROM ] [4.4.2] N9005XXUFNG2 v2 [07 AUG ] HaWKiSH ELITE SERIES [ 5 THEMES ] by zohawkish
Bad choice?
Can't I get something newer with newer features?
Please answer this cry for help from a very confused dude!
Thank you all so very much.

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to post/move this question within the Q&A Sub-Area of the following device specific area of the forum.

Good Luck!
