Can someone explain why USB is disconnecting in the car when I am using Auto Android after 30-50 minutes? I am using then navigation. And the screen is gone then. The phone reconnect only on Bluetooth. But I cannot activate auto android again. So what is happening in the process. I am not even fully uploaded on the battery.
Same problem here. If I physically disconnect the USB and plug it back again when it happens it usually works again for a few more minutes.
Reconnecting doesn't work, only after a while. And OnePlus is not working on this issue.

Hi, everyone. I've seen the other threads and no one had a problem quite like mine.
Yesterday I've upgraded my Alcatel OT-997, ICS 4.0.4. with Kuano's TWRP and now it's:
Alcatel OT-997D, JB 4.1.1. - (details in this thread, 5th post) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1981692&page=89
D means I can now use two SIM cards, which is cool.
The problem is the damn thing doesn't charge when it's turned on. It shows the lightning bolt over the battery icon, but in settings shows that charger is not connected. However, when it's turned off it charges, normally. I tried different settings in USB menu: Mass storage, MTP, Camera mode and Charge. Tried with and without Debugging mode. All of those work when connected to a computer in the sense that I can use internal storage, access both SD cards, and so on. But it doesn't charge.
I have tried 3 different cables, 3 wall outlets, and 2 PCs so it's not that. I suppose it's not a hardware problem otherwise it wouldn't charge properly when it's turned off.
So now I use schedule to turn it off before I go to sleep, and to turn on before I wake up, so it would charge while I'm sleeping. Anyone's got any ideas how to fix it?
Bump
Well I solved it with reinstall
Finally I've lost my patience so I tried the only thing that was left.
First I did a backup with TWRP.
Then, factory reset from TWRP.
Then, restore system from One Touch Upgrade 2.8.0 - lost the DUAL capability, software restored to 4.0.4.
Now comes the interesting part. It had the same problem as before, did not charge while on. So I tried a solution I found online a while ago but I never tried when on 4.1.1: Turn it off, connect charger, remove battery, wait a bit, press power button for approx 10 sec (nothing hapens), wait a bit, instert battery, turn it on and there it is. I'm not sure if it was this procedure that did the trick or it simply needed a reboot after update but it worked. It showed "charging" in battery stats.
Finally, restore with TWRP as Kuano explained in his post. Mind you, when I did the restore it was connected to my PC all the time.
Now two things I you should know:
First, before I did all this I connected it to my PC while turned off i.e. (PC - ON, phone - OFF). I noticed this: it was constantly connecting and disconnecting (the "piano chord" notification was coming from the computer speakers every 5 sec) like I was pulling the cable in and out. That is all I know about this, I didn't have the nerves to work on it.
Second, now that it is restored and charging, when I connected it to PC it couldn't change USB setting from Charge to MTP. It reported an error something like "service stopped". This happened only once and I did not try to do it again, I just don't have the energy for any more problem fixing right now. It charges, and I use airdroid for file transfer, that is all I need for now. If and when I get around to take a look at it I'll post here if there's something interesting.
I have a 4.0.1 device (car stereo actually, I could post to that thread, but here I will probably pass with more attention).
WIFI sometimes works and sometimes doesn't - I simply can't turn it on.
It stucks at "Wifi turning on" and switch goes back to gray.
When it works it works for few days, and when it doesn't I can't turn it on for like a month. Right now that's the case.
WIFI device is an external USB wifi stick. Stick works elsewhere, and I tried with another one, they both work.
I believe the problem is in the software.
On some devices it can be solved via deleting some files in the system. Has anybody got some ideas how to fix it?
Usually when it works stick LED starts flashing right at boot.
Regular data usb stick also works in that port.
Anyone having problems with constant disconnects with android auto?
I have latest UK firmware installed along with the latest android auto and waze on my phone.
I can connect fine , sometimes I can drive 30 minutes without a disconnect, other times it is 5 minutes.
The only way I can get it working again is if I unplug the phone from the car and reconnect.
Then this happens again.
I have not made a journey yet where the phone has not disconnected at least once.
My old phone (nokia 8) never had this problem.
Im using a good quality USB cable.
Any ideas of which settings I need to change to help this issue?
Try using the phone manager app's battery settings to set Android Auto and Waze to manage manually as to me it seems that the battery management's the issue.
Sent from my Mate 20 Pro using Tapatalk
Works fine for me, using Waze/Spotify most of the time. Using default battery optimization for Android auto.
I'm using a Huawei cable.
You could try to the one coming with the phone to test.
Hi ,
Thanks for the replies.
Im using the cable that came with the phone in my car and it still has the same problem.
I changed the settings to manage manually, but again I plugged the phone in to my car and it stopped working after 5 minutes. I had to unplug and start again before the car would see the phone again.
There are 3 sets of settings in the manage manually option. did you change any of these?
Should say that im plugging into a vauxhall Astra 2017 car with the latest software installed on my car.
Thanks again for any help.
I've only had my UK Mate 20 Pro for about 3 weeks now, but I too am having issues with Android Auto. Initially I was getting disconnects, I think this was due to the handset trying to ask me how I wanted the USB connection to be treated - charge only, transfer files, MIDI device etc. It didn't seem to matter what I chose, it always flicked back to charge only. Or, it could have been down to the third party always-on-display app(s) that I was trialling and have since deleted.
The disconnects now seem to have stopped and it's more stable for me - I don't know why, it could due to the above deletions or a recent EMUI update (I'm on 9.0.0.210), or maybe Android Auto updated?
I now have different issues with AA, in that when I connect the handset and the Android Auto home screen comes up, there's no play button showing for my Audiobook app (Listen Audiobook Player), when I click into the app and click the play button it stays on 'getting your selection' forever and nothing plays. Incidentally I can start playing a book on my handset, but AA doesn't notice that anything's changed and stays on the 'getting your selection' screen.
The only way I have found to return functionality to normal is to restart the phone and enter my pass code - this takes me back to the phone desktop and a different error message which says 'android auto can't find any supported devices to use' (or something similar), when I unplug and re-plug all works as it should again - this is all a bit of a pain to do whilst driving, or requires me to park up.
Additionally I have noticed similar issues when switching audio apps i.e. to Spotify and then to an audiobook etc., It doesn't seem to go smoothly like it used to on my S8+
I'm using a 2017 Vauxhall Astra also ?
Ive sent a message to customer services to see if they can offer any help.
Dont know if we will have to wait for a firmware update to sort this out?
Same every single time. Did a 120 mile trip today and had to disconnect and reconnect 7 times

Hi, Can you all please share the model of your car ? Maybe the issue is also connected to the car, not only the M20Pro. Thank you.
My car is a vauxhall astra.
I know it is not the car at fault as my last phone which was a Nokia 8 running android pie worked fine without any disconnections.

Same car. Used a samsung a9 yesterday and worked flawlessly.
Done a factory reset on the mate and still ****s up. If it wasnt such a good camera I would be getting a different phone
I tried it on a Mercedes CLS, just for a short run. It worked fine. With non-official Huawei Cable. Just basic USB-C. Maybe I need to try for a long run to be sure about it.
Anyone tried it on a Volvo XC40-60-90 ?
Disconnects
Did you find a solution to this? my device also suffers from constant disconnects and sets the USB method to charge only and as soon as you change it just goes straight back. battery management is set to manual and all apps and phone are up to date. using it on a Vauxhall insignia 66 plate with OEM cable.
Hey guys,
The problem seems to be with a nearly full battery.
When the battery is >=92% the connection of AA drops very often.
Is anyone here with EMUI 10 to test if it's more stable?
EDIT: I've missed that today is the launch of the beta so forget my question.
Edit2: some links for the same topic.

Hi,
I came across a charging problem recently (happened all of a sudden, no clue why it is happening). My phone(m2 max pro) charges only I turn it off, when turned on the USB connection is not even recognized.
So, the only way to charge my phone is to switch it off!. This appears to be not so very rare problem, there are few posts out there (with different phones) complaining the same problem, but no working solution yet.
Few things:
1. Current rom is Arrow OS(m2 max pro), Android Pie.
2. Restarting the phone with the charger connected helps. The USB will still not be recognized though, but the phone charges(although, it charges slowly, the lockscreen shows - "charging slowly").
But, If I later disconnect and reconnect the charger it won't charge anymore, I have to restart with charger connected again.
3. Tried cleaning the USB port, tried clean flashing the rom(even with a different one), did not work.
5. Tried moving/adjusting the pin in the USB port slightly (recommended in one of the posts), did not work. Although, I didn't fiddle around this much, afraid I might damage the pin/port, will try again.
6. Tried draining it off completely to 0% until it auto shuts off and then charge it until 100% (this was recommended in one of the posts), did not work.
7. Tried different USB cables and ports(including original charger and wall port), did not work. I don't think this is a problem with cables/port.
I still think this was some kind of software problem, I hoped clean flashing the rom will fix this but was surprised to see that it does not!. or is it a hardware problem?
Anyone has a fix for this or seeing same symptoms(If so, how did you get around this)?
Thank you.
This is fixed now, after caliberating the battery(with a rooted app)
-> Rooted the phone(installed magisk), wiped cache and rebooted.
-> Installed Battery caliberation app[ROOT] (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ot.superthomaslab.batterycalibration&hl=en_IN) and caliberated the battery.
-> Did a reboot and the problem went away
I didn't even had to wait until 100% to caliberate the battery (but the app recommeds so)
[EDIT]
The problem came back after a while, now its kinda randomly happening, most of the times it seems to work fine.
But, then again, it only charges, it does not recognize USB connection(to PC, which I used to connect to successfully previously), I don't see the "touch for more usb options" notification either. A workaround to this is to change the default usb configuration(in developer tools) to a different one (I am switching between File transfer, No data transfer, PTP), but as soon as you disconnect and reconnect the problem resurfaces (you'll have to again switch the default usb configuration and then reconnect)
I am perplexed!, I thought this is clearly a software issue and I hoped it would go away if I clean flash rom (the exact same build which worked fine previously, also cleared everything including vendor partition and excluding external sd card)
So the issue started about a week back, my TV remote suddenly got disconnected and I wasn't able to connect it any longer until the next day. But then again it stopped functioning. I assumed it was a remote issue or a battery issue but both of them didn't help. So I had to turn on the TV with the hard button.
So I got a reset and the connections could be established between all the peripherals, but not for long. Withing a few minutes it again gets disconnected. Along with that, the Wi-Fi gets disconnected on the next TV boot. I moved to using a mouse but the strange thing was, I had to click the menu button like 10 times to get it. And then it couldn't even detect my Wi-Fi.
Now the TV doesn't boot. It gets the Mi logo and gone. If I switch it off, again the Mi TV and it's off.
Is it an issue of the MI rom installed in the system? If so how do I deploy the ROM again, considering I can't boot. If there is any other issue that you can think of, please feel free to report.
