Does anyone know of a way using (or not using) a 3rd party app such as Nova Launcher or any shortcut maker to change primart sim?
Right now to access data on 2nd sim you have to either be on a call. To change primary sims temporarily requires multiple steps - pull down notification menu , click on sim , enter settings, change primary sim confirm. Looking for a way to create a shortcut to do this.
I quote this, I got the same problem. Also when I turn off second sim and then enable it again I have to switch again the calls to "always ask" and this is reallt annoying

My wife's Droid Eris is stock 2.1.
She has specific contact shortcuts for calls and texts; ie Call Mere, Text Mere
I finally created contact shortcuts. When I touch my shortcut, I get another window with different icons for call, contact, gmail, etc.
Is there a way to create specific shortcuts to call someone without opening the second window?
Thanks
Anycut should do it.
Let me state my observation a different way.
My wife's Droid Eris with stock 2.1 has single click call or text function.
My KaosFroyo v35-1 has requires two clicks, 1st click brings up an expanded window with other options, requiring me to click on the small phone icon to place a call.
How can I create a shortcut to call a telephone number?

bring up the option to add to home screen click shortcuts and scroll down and you have options for direct dial and direct message. And from there its a single click icon to call the selected contact you have choosen for that shortcut
Ok, your reply has added one more thing on my droid do list.
Add each Widget to a screen if only to see what exactly it does.
I selected the Contact Widget not the Direct Dial Widget.
Thanks.
Hi all,
Does anyone know if there is a way to automatically switch between pattern and slide to unlock based on location? I know there are automation apps out there, such as tasker and setting profiles. I tried the LITE version of setting profiles and it does have an option to disable the lock screen completely, but not to switch between pattern and slide lock screens. I'd like to have a slide to unlock while at home, but have it change to a more secure pattern unlock when I leave home.
My guess is that this would be difficult because whenever you manually change between slide to unlock and pattern it asks you for your pattern, i.e. it doesn't seem to store your pattern if you ever disable it. I haven't tried tasker because it doesn't have a free demo version, but I would assume that if tasker (or another automation app) does have this ability, it would have to somehow store your pattern so that it can re-implement it, making it possibly insecure?
I'm not sure if there is a custom ROM that will do this. I'm currently running 4.0.4 plain vanilla rooted and unlocked on Verizon LTE Gnex.
Thanks!
In case anyone else was wondering about this, I found a way to do this:
You can make this work using tasker (paid app) in combination with an app called secure settings in the market (free). you need busybox installed, it will check. works perfectly, i have tasker automatically switch pattern lock off when i'm at home (based on cell towers) and automatically turn it back on when i leave home!
nice
I see that this thread has been dead for a little while, but I found it through a Google search since I'm looking for a non-root alternative to Secure Settings on my new, non-rooted phone. I'm currently using Llama, which is a free, location-aware automation app in place of Tasker until I root my new phone. Llama works with Secure Settings, but I can't try the pattern unlock switch since it requires root.
I can confirm that Tasker will switch from pattern unlock to swipe unlock automatically with Secure Settings. I set pattern lock as the default, and had Tasker switch to the swipe unlock if I was connected to any Wi-Fi network, but you could specify which network if you wanted to. In this case, Llama might work better if ask you want to do is automate based on location. Llama has triggers other than location, but it's primary focus is location based triggers.
Just an addendum to this, but when you disable pattern lock, the phone will revert to whatever the last lock method was. If it was "None" the phone will turn straight onto the homescreen. If it was "Slide" you'll see the side to unlock keyguard.
If you want to change this, go into Settings > Security > Screen lock > Slide then repeat but choose Settings > Security > Screen lock > Pattern. This effectively sets the 2 lock types the phone will toggle between.

Well is there a tweak or app to enable access all (hidden) settings in settings menu?
I need access to GSM network selection (operators) and Phone settings: (call barring- caller ID- call waiting- call forwarding) at least for GSM.
-Also if there is a way that my preferred network type setting wont change after reboot. i have to change it every time the phone reboots (*#*#4636#*#*) from menu.
thanks in advance

Assuming your rooted. To remove it from the notificationbar add this line to your build prop "ro.config.donot_nosim=true". To remove it from the lockscreen Install wanam xposed, open, go to lockscreen and click hide carrier label. That's the easiest way that I know how to do it. I'm sure there's a more technical way but this worked for me.

i am not rooted, im scared to root as it may chance my CDMA carrier flash.
how do i make the no sim card icon dissapear from notification bar?
Same here
Hello, I have been looking around all over the place in search of a solution to the aforementioned problem. I have a Galaxy Note 3 N900P (hltespr) running stock 4.3 rooted.
I cannot seem to find a way to remove the "No Sim" car notification in the status bar. I do not have a SIM card as I got my phone in an auction hence the lack of data plan and SIM.
I have tried an Xposed module which supposedly removes the said notification...didn't work.. I also tried looking in the build.prop file to no avail. Usually a reboot removes the notification, but disabling airplane mode brings it back permanently.. even force-stopping the System Ui process removes the notification but it comes back shortly after disappearing.
Have you found any way to remove this annoying notification??
hello,
I'm on xt1022 stock 4.4.4 unrooted and bootloader locked.
in network settings there is only option of preferred networks (2g or 3g).
i want to have 3g only, 2g only (wcdma only, gsm only) options on both my sim cards.
by dialing *#*#4636#*#* I'm able to set only sim1 as wcdma only but i require this functionality for both the sim cards.
1) is there any xposed module which would help me to get those options ?
2) is there any custom rom for xt1022 which supports 3g only,2g only options for both sim1 and sim2 ?
stock 4.4.4 and 5.0.2 don't support 3g only and 2g only modes.
i want users of custom roms (cm 11,pacman etc) to help me to find a custom rom supporting those options.
thank you.
Install GravityBox. Go quick settings management. You have to add a tile named "Network Mode" to your quick settings (those tiles you get on the reverse side of the notifications window). You can add/remove other tiles as well. You need to first enable Quick settings in GB and then reboot. After the reboot, add the Network Mode tile. Now you'll have that tile in your quick settings drawer. Tap on it to switch between 2G/3G/2G+3G (both). Long tap on the tile to change the SIM that setting applies to. You'll feel a vibration when you switch the SIM number. SIM number is indicated by "1" or "2" on the top right of the tile. This way you can force 2G or 3G on the SIM you want. Remember that although both SIMs support 3G, you can register on the 3G network of any one SIM at a time (either 1st or 2nd). The other SIM will automatically register on the 2G network.
