Coming from Oneplus 7T and the force 90hz option worked for Snapchat.
On the Pixel 6 "Force peak refresh rate" does not force Snapchat. When the camera is being used it drops to 60hz. When the camera indicator goes away it goes to 90hz.
Any fix?
Dang, why do you have to force the Snapchat to 90Hzzzzz?
P6 locks to 60hz whenever the camera is used in any way. This makes certain apps that call the camera feel very stuttery. I too would like a way to force 90hz.

Yeah. Talk about a huge oversight by Google. Even Chinese phones get this right.

I mean it's just a photo-sharing app so 90hz is just unnecessary

Hey guys,
I've noticed that any kind of blur in my phone makes it very laggy and slow. I tried for example having notification area blurred with one of those big xposed mods, don't remember the name now, and it was super slow.Going into the camera and changing modes, where there is blur, makes everything too not very nice.
Could you guys check if it's also slow for you in the camera or is it just my phone?

Yeah, happened to me when I blurred the notifications area with an xposed mod. When I swiped down to open it, it was very laggy and the frame rate was very low.

Just reboot the phone after you apply it. It should be alright after that.
And how about camera guys? Does blur give you low framerate?
EDIT: And offtopic question about camera. When you tap to focus, do you hear a sound and the sights turn blue? They only do for me after I touch to focus and click on screen camera button to take a shot or when I click the hardware camera button halfway.
Whenever I use snapchat and try to focus on something, it'll focus and then slowly go blurry before I can even take the picture. It's really annoying. Am I the only one with this problem?

I'm having this issue, I thought it was a problem with the auto brightness,so I turned it off, no luck, I think it's an issue with the light sensor since whenever I out my hand in it while playing hdr content it stars brightening and dimming the display in a kinda flickering way, it's unwatchable.
Anyone else can reproduce?

I know since the early Days of Magisk that it can affect the Performance of a OS, but that seems to be something new. Is the Device getting Hot or are there any lags before it starts acting like that?

No lags or heating problem.
The thing is That when You are watching Hdr on youtube
And your hand is in front of the sensor for brightnes control the backlight is going to the max. Also responding on the backlight of the display it self.

HDR (Over 720p) is pretty ressource hungry and needs much Perfromance, that's why i asked. But that sounds more like a Sensor Config Problem. Is this happening on Stock and/or AOSP?
And it just happens with Magisk installed?

On stock, at aosp Hdr is not working.
It looks like the sensor is working the wrong Way. You make the sensor darker andere the screen is getting brightner.
I have a Stock Xperia XZ1 no roms, no modifications at all,
Youtube HDR with the youtube video for testing HDR nature or something, the problem is that whenever the brightness is low, and i play an HDR video, the screen starts dimming, brightening if I touch the sensor.
But the light sensor works fine.

Hello all,
This has been an issue since I got the pixel 6 at launch. When playing videos, the shadows appear washed out. It appears to be some sort of gamma shift or HDR tone mapping issue. This happens when in google photos, chrome browser, imgur, even other apps. (youtube is fine).
I've confirmed in person this happens to other pixels one of which was pixel 6 pro.
The issue is recorded here:
I tried changing the color setup under display options in system settings, turning off H265 in camera settings, booting into safe mode, forcing 60hz refresh rate, but it still washes out the videos.
This does not happen with videos shot by other phones, for example my wife's iPhone shot video then sent it over to me and the gamma shift does not happen...
Strange thing is, in Chrome while playing the video, as soon as I swipe up from the bottom to open the recent apps, the video jumps back to normal as seen here:
https://imgur.com/a/Va3l5fQ
I reported this to google, and their chat support to me to fully nuke my phone to factory....
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening, and could other Pixel 6 users verify it's happening on their devices as well ?
Thank you

I seldom shoot video with phones and usually don't like to reference reviews. But from what you described Dxomark's summary about video performance is looking to be spot-on.
Google Pixel 6 Camera review: An outstanding performer in its segment - DXOMARK
The Google Pixel 6 camera displayed an outstanding performanc and is currently the best option for photographers who prefer smaller devices.

My experience with dark objects in still photos has been somewhat similar. Recently I couldn't get enough detail photographing black camera bodies I'm selling online. Even with direct light from a daylight LED lamp I ended up using night mode. Every speck of dust showed up which wasn't ideal either.
Over all, though, I like the Pixel 6 camera.

Did you ever find an answer to this? I'm having the same issue... though it's not for every video, just in certain programs/websites.
Cheers.
I've been able to remedy this in chrome by turning off HW Overlays in Developer Options.
It's still an issue in Google Photos.

Sorry if I didin't understand it at first, the toggle to disable HW Overlays in the developer options will always turn off again, at least in Pixel 6, so that's what confused me

Huh it stays on on note 10 . In that case i am not shure how u can keep it on. Can u elaborate on when it turn itself off back again?
Weird, after I turn it on, I can go to any other screen on the phone, if I come back the toggle it´s off again, maybe it´s a bug on my end, here´s the example
What is the expected behaviour at "120hz" mode in Zenfone 9? Is it supposed to be 120hz all the time, or fall to 60hz when screen is idle?
In my case it's 120hz all the time in "120hz" mode (except in very few apps such as maps and camera where its always 60hz) but I've seen some users report their one will eventually drop to 60hz when screen is not touched for a second or two.
You can enable "show refresh rate" in developer options and check for yourself

same here, but everywhere else does your one fall to 60hz when screen isn't touched? or does it remain 120hz?

yes it also does that. Try the high performance mode, maybe 120hz is constant there

I'm using dynamic and yet it's 120hz constant.
I'm getting a similar thing, just after the most recent OTA update I think.
I keep it on Dynamic mode with my refresh rate set to 120Hz in the display settings. Sometimes it drops down to 60Hz (or even lower? not tried dev tools yet for checking the actual refresh rate) and looks really choppy. If I switch between High performance and Dynamic sometimes it seems to fix itself.

What I found is that when brightness is high (70s or more) it will drop to 60hz when screen not touched. But below it it's always 120hz. I'm using dynamic mode. I found it to behave same in high performance mode too. Can you please confirm?

I switched on the refresh rate in developer mode and I can confirm I'm getting the same thing as you're saying here. It goes to 60Hz after being on high brightness and not being touched for a while (doesn't seem consistent as to how long it takes though). I've had it happen and both dynamic and high-performance modes as you say.
