I had a OnePlus 8T. I decided to go with the Pixel 6 because it has eSIM thought it would be an update.
Boy was I wrong. So many annoying things with Android 12 and Pixel 6. The 8T was so much better and much much less frustrating.
Anyway, I need help with the following:
1. I can't tether using my Pixel 6. My Samsung Tablet, OnePlus 8T, Moto E, all I can just turn on USB tethering and they create a network. Not Pixel 6. The Pixel 6 creates a "CDC NCM" under Other Devices in Device Manager. I assume this is the problem why the Pixel 6 cannot create a network using USB tether. I need the USB tethering, not wifi due to technical reasons.
2. When I got the OnePlus 8T the batter would drain quite a lot during the night when the phone was idle. About 6-8% in 8hrs when sleeping. I thought it was a OnePLus 8T problem. The Moto E for example only loses 1-2%, 3% at most. Same with my Samsung Tab A 8.4 2020 tablet, only 1-2%. I thought getting the Pixel 6, it would have a much better battery management. Boy was I wrong. This thing loses up to 12% or even 15% over 8hrs per night. It's ridiculous. What can I do? I also noticed during screen on usage, the battery also drains faster.
3. The fingerprint to unlock is almost useless on the Pixel with tempered glass screen protector. I had a tempered glass screen protector on the OnePlus 8T and it worked flawlessly. Is it just the Pixel playing horribly with glass protectors or I just won the lottery and got a tempered glass protector that actually interferes with the fingerprint? Anyone has the Pixel 6 with tempered glass and they have no problem using the fingerprint? I have the "Increased touch sensitivity" turned ON.
4. Any way to bring Android 11 quick settings menu back? (the one when you swipe down from the top edge). The Android 12 is extremely frustrating. No way to just enable/disable just the wifi. I have to go to "internet" and deal with the wifi from there, no longer a quick 1 tap. No NFC one tap to turn NFC on/off, instead you get the GPay shortcut. Then there's the bottom search bar + big ugly clock when locked + no way to get rid of the "at a glance" that takes an entire row on the main page - but I can live with these.
I regret it so much selling my OnePlus 8T before getting the Pixel 6. The most annoying part is the battery and fingerprint issue.

NOTE: I dont have a pixel 6, and am no expert, just a guy trying to help out, because something is better than nothing.
1. According to verizon, if you want to USB tether, you should use the provided usb c cable which came with your pixel 6.
2. it could be that you have more background apps, or less apps are optimised, or AOD is on. Background apps/services are the most likely cause of battery drain when idle, such as location services, apps from the play store etc. you can check which apps are using up the most power from settings. Apart from that, the phone has fast charging, so even if you do lose 15%, just, maybe, charge it up for a couple of minutes?
3. Try setting up fingerprint again with the protector on this time, maybe that'll work? If it doesnt work with the screen protector but works without it then yes, its your screen protector. Apparently theyve pushed out an update to improve the sensor functionality with screen protectors on, so do try that. Apart from that, apparently there are google certified screen protectors..? 4. To downgrade back to android 11, look for a tutorial such as this one:
However, note that its not too easy if you dont have experience with such things, you may also risk bricking your device if you do not follow instructions carefully, and your warranty will be voided. For issue 2, my pixel 6 consumes no more than 8% battery during 8 hours sleeping time. Maybe some Apps prevent your phone from deep sleep.

My standby drain during the night for pixel 6 is around 6 to 8 percent for 8 hours. It is similar to my previous phone - oneplus 7. Regarding the tether - i have not tested usb tethering but will do it later today. Most probably windows is just not installing the correct driver. fingerprint lock was bad with tempered glass protector when i got the phone but after january update is now considerably better. Ensure that you have turned on "increase touch sensitivity" option in display settings when using screen protector. Generally FP reader is not the best on this phone but now after january update it works around 80 to 90 % of time which is good enough for me. Regarding the menus from android 11 - at least i don't know way to change current menu at least without root.
Had tempered glass on p6, fingerprint reader was perhaps 50% effective. Changed to a TPU protector and FP is at least 90%.
Honestly, why even use a tempered glass screen protector? Just use a phone case with slightly raised sides, and use a plastic screen protector to protect your display from scratches. from my experiences, glass screen protectors wont save your phone from a drop, and they break easily and so you'll have to change it even iff you drop your phone from a small height.
TPU protectors are more prone to scratches and need to be replaced more frequently. I personally very rarely drop my phone but absolutely hate to replace screen protectors. Due to this i prefer tempered glass protectors but of course this is just my point of view.

I prefer tempered glass also....but I prefer a FP reader that works even more..........
Previous OP 3T and OP 6T user here.
Give the phone some time, it will grow on you.
I switched to IQ Shield brand screen protectors when I had my 6T; they work flawlessly and have a great feel. I got one for my P6 and it works fin. 95% unlock on first try, unless I move my finger too fast.
Overnight drain: probably an app is dragging you down. I usually leave my phone plugged in overnight so it is full in the morning, but if I don't, I had about a 4% drain per 8 hours prior to getting everything set up (I tested it for a few nights) and now have about a 8-10% drain overnight with everything set up. Note that I use aodNotify that definitely adds to the drain (but I find it worth it). Try clearing cache (in app Settings) and deleting extraneous apps, then see if you can narrow it down.
I've never used tethering via USB; sorry can't help you there.

Once again I will mention that Google has a list of "certified screen protectors"
the battery drain is because of mobile network. If you go to battery in settings and go to usage it will show you. At the bottom click on show system usage. Mine for example has mobile network using 30% in 24 hours. So far the only way to fix it is to turn off the mobile data while at home. Hopefully they will fix it soon. I think that part of the problem is pixel using samsung's exynos as a base for their tensor chip and using the exynos modem. Google has always used qualcomm so i think they are not experienced enough with this different hardware. My pixel 5 ran android 12 with no issues at all so i just think android 12 is optimized more for qualcomm than samsung. Hopefully they will get their act together soon. I knew this was a big risk getting a phone with a brand new chipset.

Just to confirm that usb tether works ok for me using old usb type c to type a cable (my laptop is old and does not have usb type c ports). Windows 10 automatically installed microsoft driver for usbncm host device and added it as network adapter.
Regarding the exynos modem in pixel 6 - i made few tests at home. Tests are only 4G as 5G is locked by google in my country. My signal level is around -100 dBm which is not great and speeds are around 30 Mbps. In other parts of the city i get speeds up to 250 Mbps download and much better signal at around -75 so i wondered if just exynos modem is not up to par. I compared at home with my father's poco x3 pro which uses snapdragon 860 and when put side by side phones same signal levels and achieve same speeds. Maybe for 5G exynos modem is worse than snapdragon 8 gen 1 but for 4G at least i don't see any difference.

I second that.
At one time I would have suggested no screen protector with a fingerprint reader as buggy as Pixel 6's. But last time I tried going without a protector my mitts did a number on the screen's surface coating. It took only a few months for the screen to become a smudgy mess. Coating wear-and-tear turns invisible after applying tempered glass and the screen looks new again, but better to avoid damaging the coating in the first place.
So I guess my point is, do what it takes to get the fingerprint reader working without trading off something else. Unfortunately, this means expensive, certified protectors that are getting harder to find and it's no mystery why.

I would try better battery stats to see what's causing the battery drain at idle over night
Not tried tethering don't really use it
Come from 7t myself and l absolutely love this phone though being rooted makes it better
I also suggest upgrading to Android 12L. It's a huge step forward, for me it's even more stable than latest A12 build.
Coming from Sony Xperia 5 II and OP7 Pro, this phone is a beast, but stock OS drags it down a bit. Custom kernel and / or A12L helps a lot.

Yeah, like paying $40 for a certified screen protector when a $4 tempered glass screen protector from eBay should do the job as with any other smartphone (as it was on my OnePlus 8T for example). No offense.
Two of the most cell phone common problems are;

I've preordered M10Pro, expecting delivery middle of this months but am still wondering if I've made a right decision. I have never used a phone with amoled as my daily driver. I drive a car quite a bit, using google maps for around 1h daily plus every 1-2 weeks for at least 5-6 hours a single day. Additionally I am pretty used to now using AOD (LG G6), it's not clear if AOD on M10Pro is changing its position in order to prevent burn in so these to plus navigation bar drives my crazy when I think I could spend considerable amount of money on a phone which will get burn in after a few months.
Unfortunately regular M10 won't be available on my market and I do not want to order outside as I am used to having my devices covered by 24 months guarantee.
What are your experiences with amoled? What are you feeling when it comes to burn-in and M10Pro? Should I be even bothered?

i choose the Mate 10 6+128GB!
I know that for some of you there may be an option to choose between 10 and 10pro but for me, when I want to have a full guarantee locally options are -to buy 10 pro with amoled or to buy from competition which does not have amoled, so basically htc, which to me is not a real alternative
As per android central review on YouTube out today, after "several weeks" of usage he had no burn in issue for the Mate10 pro.

Will watch it straight away. Hope it clears all my doubts.
It will burn in eventually. It's a reality with AMOLED. May be sooner, may be later, as each screen is different but it will happen. This is why I really try to avoid AMOLED. I prefer peace of mind over a more saturated screen.
Not to mention I've never heard of the company supplying Huawei with their AMOLED screens. If I have to get one, it'd probably be a Samsung.
Not sure why LCD has so much hate. It's perfect on my Mate 10 and with HDR videos it's stunning. No worries about burn in too.

I have seen the AOD on the Mate 10 pro in different locations, so i understand it will be moving about.
And navigation is not static, so maybe it won't be an issue ?
Everyone is going oled whether its LG, Apple, Pixel 2 and OnePlus. And there is that BOE manufacturer ready to bring out their oled as well and so will be seeing oleds even more. Apple and others know that oled is prone to burn in and yet saw it as fit to use on their important iphone x, which means the probability is low and depends on a certain harsh usage.
If Huawei covers warranty for a burn in it would be reassuring though. Personally, i don't use my phone in max brightness and prolonged periods with a static image. And i use the auto brightness most of the time. I haven't had a problem with my oled on the P9 plus after 1.5 years of usage.
Every big player will get Amoleds to their phone....
Why? Because of money and bussiness....
Why to make a perfect phone that will last for 3 years without a problem.
They need more to sell...... I would buy a mate 10 pro if there would be a ips display.... oled no....
I had a lcd once, on a sony : I hated it. I always had oled screens, and never had any burn-in problem (I keep my phones for 2 years usually) and I also use google map a lot>
I have now had my Mate 10 Pro for about 2 months and i am absolutly loving it.
I can confirm that the AOD is moving around, so nothing to worry about there, and the screen itself is stunnig to look at.
Will i get burn-in over time? I don't know. But i really like the screen and the pictures it creates.

Is anybody experiencing a blotchy screen when you render plain black images? I noticed this in my stock gallery app, Netflix, and video player. It is noticeable in a very dark room. It bothers me since I know that when an OLED panel renders black color it turns off so no light is emitted. But in this case I see a blotchy black.
This "sooner or later", burn in is not how it works. I have a Galaxy S3 and a Note4 with zero burn in, even though I used both heavily for years. (Even for GPS, etc.),
The content matters. Like my sister had an S4 and it had Facebook Messenger burnt into the screen because she was chatting for so many hours.
And after she gave the phone to me just a few months back so I can sell it, the burn in went away after mixed use.
Tl;Dr: Burn in is more of a meme, it's more like retention. I mean the Mate10 Pro has on screen buttons but that's not a 100% chance that it will burn in.
Send it back and get a new one from Amazon. I saw this problem with the camera in white or clears walls. It seems "banding".
I acquired a second hand Mate 10 Pro 3 weeks ago (first owner bought it on the 24th of November), it already had burn-in zones: navigation dock button, Google Search, bottom system buttons bar and many other ones from various apps' icons... These zones are mostly noticeable on clear or white screen/pages (eg: about:blank URL in Chrome browser). At reception, I immediately selected a black theme and activated Battery's dark mode. Now I can see my own apps setup marking the screen... After only 3 weeks...

I'm contacting Huawei customer service.
I finally went to Paris' Huawei customer care center. They told me they never saw/heard about such issue, hard to believe.
They kept my phone 24h and they replaced the full front part (including battery): they only keep the motherboard (can't say if it includes cameras' parts too).
They ensured me waterproofing should be the same. 200 meters after I left the building, I noticed a huge gap where the back plate should stick to the phone's body. So long for waterproofing I suppose.
I immediately went back, and in 10min they replaced the back cover for a brand new one; things are better, but after throrough look, I can see back cover is not perfectly glued... But hey, I have an almost brand new device now.
I took time to compare the demo devices they have, and the Mate 10 Pro had a burned-in screen too, quickly noticeable thanks to Chrome's about:blank URL
My Z2 fell down from a 1 storey height last day . The phone is still usable but the screen is cracked on the top right corner. The touch is not working on that side. I can't swipe down the quick settings from there. There's a little touch issue at the bottom right side also I think. And the back glass is almost completely broken. I had applied a carbon fiber sticker on the back earlier so the glass is still there fixed.
Also the fingerprint scanner is not working. There's a scratch there too. But the press function of that button is working. The shape of the outer frame of the phone is changed a little bit.
I just reset everything again and flashed AOSiP-9. Except the fingerprint and top and bottom right touch everything is working I think. I'm posting this thread from my phone so it is still usable.
I want to know how much will it cost for the front screen, back glass and a new fingerprint sensor? I went to the nearby Lenovo service center but none of these parts are available there.
Just found that the it'll cost between 2500-3000 for all these parts. The screen is also broken a little bit. So both the touch and screen should be replaced.

If it is 2500-3000 rupees then u shld consider buying a new phone.. Redmi 8 for 10k is good deal right now.. Or if u can go higher note 8 pro or even realme 5 pro is also good alt..

I bought a pre-owned OnePlus 7T yesterday after long-time research. It has almost everything I like. The only issue is that the lack of custom ROM development support but I'm waiting.
Meanwhile the back camera of my Z2 too also stopped working. I replaced the fingerprint scanner and the touchscreen myself with another dead Z2's parts. All the area is now touchable but sometimes it freezes too much. Now I can use the Z2 almost okay, so I'm still using it as my daily device with AOSiP-9. I decided to use as long it can run without any serious issues.

I paid ₹ 30k. It has extra accidental and screen protection worth around ₹2000. The first owner bought it in October. If you are buying a pre-owned you should not spend more than 31k even it has extra protection as it is available in Amazon for around 35k, and with credit or debit card you can almost save around 1.5k to 2k. But please check Amazon for the card offers.
I chose 7T over 7 Pro and K20 Pro because of some personal reasons. But I recommend if you are upgrading from Z2 and you can afford, please buy this as it has almost all a flagship needed and doesn't have any extra gimmicks like motorized pop-up camera. Because only a few phones have this motorized type of cameras and the current trend is having a punched hole camera. The notch is a way ahead of this punched holes because you don't feel that much distracted with notches. I tried latest Samsung phones and I felt too irritated with those ugly punched holes. A few upcoming mid-range phones are coming with these as per some news. Anyways these are just my personal reasons.

Finally got my dbrand skins through and my fit bag so got it all together ,had the same combination on my one plus 6t but that had just a Matt black skin,went for swarm this time and it looks great.Works for me fit bag for when in pocket ,skin and no SP when out of the pocket

Ok, here is my thoughts so far coming from a Note 10 Plus.
I must say I miss the wideness of the note in my hand, this phone is the same length wise but about a quarter inch thinner. It doesn't feel as comfortable in my hand. I don't care for the two button shutdown, would prefer the right button was just that, a power button. Going to have to retrain my brain for right side power again.
They have put a manual three position switch just above the power button for sound/vibrate/silent. Seems unnecessary to me and I don't see myself using it much. Just as easy to use the pull down menu.
I live in Florida and had the phone overheat outdoors yesterday. That is not a good thing. First phone I have ever had that happen to for regular outdoor use. Might be a deal breaker.
I find the phone snappy and played a number of hours of COD mobile last night at highest settings and the phone handled it with ease. No complaints there, plenty of power.
Wireless android auto works! Yes!
Going to take a while to get used to the new OS settings menus but so far pretty straight forward. I use Nova Launcher so not alot different in reality.
Charging is quick, battery life is on par with Note.
I find the display more vibrant and clearer than the note. I have it maxed and this may be costing me a lot of battery, time will tell.
I found the packaging lacking in spiffs like headphones and extras like transfer dongles etc. For the price it should include somethings of this nature.
Cases are few and far between, seems they were caught with their pants down with a design change.
Dual sim IS NOT WORKING. Upsetting because that is the primary reason I bought it.
You are going to go through growing pains with Verizon. You can use the chat function and just tell them to "engage CDMA-less provisioning" and they will get it sorted.
Overall I would give it a 7 out of 10. That may change if the heat issue is addressed and dual sim.
The manual switch for volume is very handy for social environments where using the phone is bad manners. You can check if your phone is silent without taking it out of your pocket, and silence it In your pocket.
It s a feature i will miss if i move away from oneplus someday.

So this is my second day with my one plus 8 pro, had my eye on this company since their first release one plus one, but for me, it was all about the quality and the build, i just switched from my Huawei p20 pro ( i was close to getting the 40 pro but because of google problem I changed my mind and also for their slow updates and the bootloader lock ) so what I like about one plus 8 pro , Display, sound, fingerprint, scanner accuracy, wifi speed, customization, and fast operation, it is really a fast phone
I miss lots of things about my p20 pro
Build quality, camera, notification light, solid phone network connection, the weather app, the split-screen, the hidden app function.
I am still using it and hope one day i fall in love with one plus 8 pro as I did with Huawei.

There's a hidden app function in the oneplus 8 pro (just place two fingers on a blank area of the screen and stretch out). Plenty of weather apps on the Play Store although, if you're particular about what weather app to use (there are good and bad ones) you could try TodayWeather which I've recently installed and has more or less replaced my old app (DarkSky) for functionality and presentation.

Thank you, the apps were the easy part, now I am having an issue with poor wifi reception, overheating and sluggish performance something with the memory, the gallery will not open smoothly
Reset the phone or clear cache didn't fix it
I am honestly thinking it was a big mistake buying this phone..
hope they can fix their issues soon

To be honest, If they fix all the issues like overheating, power drain, wifi, and data connection it will be a great phone.
I love the display, speed, sound and the camera ( it takes good pictures)
I am waiting for software updates and hope they will be fixed soon if not, it will be for sale on eBay.
Honestly other than the better camera and wireless charging I prefer the OP7 Pro/7t Pro.

Why?
1 - The slightly wider aspect ratio. (Think we need to move away from the diagonal to categorise screen size but that is a whole other conversation)
2 - No cut out
3 - No screen burn-in issues
4 - No green tint/black crush issues
5 - GCAM really improves the 7 pro camera and does not seem to do the same for 8 pro, therefore a 7 pro with gcam is pretty close at least on the main lens
6 - Prefer the blue to the green
Yes the 8 Pro is better overall for sure but right now the 7 pro is almost half the price so when you factor in cost too I think I prefer the 7 pro. To qualify, I have owned an 8 pro and then re-purchased a 7 pro.

I'm not too fond of his presenting style, but I agree as in, I like the phone a lot as well.
Whether it's the best is personal opinion, so I won't argue that point.
Regarding the points you mention, I have had a different experience so far.
- Fingerprint scanner works fine for me (perhaps 1 in 20 attempts doesn't work, but fingers are very individual and not flat, so I can forgive the Pixel). I see you're having a lot of issues (in another thread) perhaps there's something about your fingers that causes the sensor to have issues with them?
- The screen is much brighter than the Pixel 4 I'm coming from, which was bright enough for me as well, ofcourse if you're in bright sunlight you might have issues, but trying to discern anything on a reflective surface in that condition will give you issues.
- I use a case, so I don't have an issue with dust. Consider vacuuming/turning out your pockets once in a while if
they're full of fluff.
- I haven't had any native apps crash on me, I only update them from the Play store.
I don't have a wireless charger as I feel they're too inefficient and wasteful.

Not my experience with Pixel 6 which is an absolute delight even after coming from the rather good Oneplus 7 pro. I haven't had a single app crash either.
Hello members. Is been pass for when Google Pixel 7/7 Pro was released. New phones come out new hype, impressions. This is like every year but interesting to see how people reacts and what think. I'm maybe to old for this but for last few years I keep devices for longer time. Before Google 7 Pro, I used Note 20 Ultra. I was happy with it. But I prefer clean Android and Google features, this is why I switched to Pixel (I'll not switch and I'm not interested for longer time now). So I have questions for you. Who switched to Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra from Pixel 7/7 Pro or oposite from S23 Ultra to Pixel 7 Pro think. Or switched from diferent device, brand phone.
My Pixel 7 Pro has some sort of motherboard or power issue that keeps frying screens. I am on my second Pixel 7 Pro screen replacement and the third is starting to show similar pulsing of brightness and flickering symptoms. I have an S23 Ultra on order for pick up on Friday at my local Best Buy and I can't wait.
I also can't wait to have a modem that's actually worth a damn and more than 24 hours of battery life when I don't use my phone heavily.
I changed my pixel 7 pro for the ultra and I got it yesterday. The pixel 7 pro is a good phone for regular use with a great camera, it's snappy and very fluid and some decent performance while gaming. Battery wasn't that solid. I used it for the past three months since it came out. Since receiving my ultra S23 i can say just WOW. This device is a beast. Camera zoom is incredible even tho the colors are saturated that can be fixed after with may photo app, even Googles own photo app with just auto fix can do the trick. Battery wise it's a tank and the feel of the device is heavy compared to the pixel 7 pro but feel and solid. Software wise is like pixel os or stock android on steroids i really like the widget stacking and other minor things. From the time I got till today I can say that so far it's a Greta super snappy very good camera dm battery beast device. Definitely an upgrade from the pixel 7 pro. Once you change most things to Google like keyboard and all the other things you won't really miss the other device. I would rate it a 9.5/10 and the pixel 7 pro 8/10
Just a quick screen shot of the battery life with just one cycle. That's with one hour of video call, toms of video and web browser, VPN and not battery optimization just plain stock.
I own Pixel 7 Pro. Now waiting for my S23 Ultra to arrived on 24th February.
Am not switching tho. I gonna retire my Aquos R6.
Plan to use my S23 Ultra in stock configuration, locked bootloader, no root. I just gonna debloat using Brevent, blocking ads using private DNS, and managing permissions & net acess using AppOps & Netguard. I still hate Samsung for all features that got nerfed/disabled once you unlock your bootloader. But then, nowadays, it's hard to find brand who release decent phone with 1TB configuration (Apple OS sucks, Xperia price isn't worth it's features & specs. There's Nubia, but it lean heavily towards gamer's need while i prefer a better camera)
So, Pixel 7 Pro for all the mods. And S23 Ultra for Banking (zero headache without root) & Multimedia center.
A bit off topic but I switched from the P6P Google to the S23 U. I say wow about performance Camera and overall the S Pen and so on. Yes the switch was a good choice for me

Interesting. Just dropped my P7P off at ubreakifix for same issue. they told me they have been seeing lots of this. also happened to order an S23U right after. I will still keep the P7P for my daily though, assuming it stays functioning.
Not really switching as I'm doing like others here have mentioned. I have a green S23 Ultra due to arrive sometime early this week (whenever UPS updates the "label created" status. Should be a fun phone.
Nothing wrong with my Pixel 7 Pro. Probably the one of these least problematic phones I've owned and ranks up there with the Pixel 2xl and the Nexus 5 as my fav Google phones.
Anyhow, I'm using the P7P to have fun with Android 14 DP and betas. Will swap back and forth between it and the S23 Ultra until I swap the P7P for the Pixel Fold or P8P.
Though the Ultra will be the primary, nothing was wrong with the Pixel 7 Pro. I just like have the latest and greatest.

It's gotta be a motherboard or power delivery issue that's shorting the display and slowly killing it because I baby my phones and yet I'm not too sure my screen is going to last until Friday and I just got it like 2 weeks ago. They replaced my first one with a second one and it started acting up two days later. Replaced that one and it's lasted a few weeks but uhh... how many replacements am I going to have to get? Google doesn't have a lemon policy where they say they'll replace the device after so many fails at repairing it but uBreakiFix is going to object for sure because the second screen they replaced was with their own warranty for the repair, not Google footing the bill, as they assumed they just gave me a bad screen and it took me two days to notice.
If you check this thread, you and I are far from alone.

well he did say he was seeing it a lot. I kind of doubted him, but not so sure now. Im not in a large metro area and pixels arent very popular so if its in large numbers its pretty bad. I went rounds with them trying to get the to just replace the phone as they had done for me in the past, though to be honest I have rarely had any problem, but they were having none of it this time. mine was acting up, lasted about a week when I first noticed and contacted google, then yesterday it went kaput, and took it in. They didnt have a screen, but should be done by tuesday. well see how long it lasts I guess.

Probably the displays. Since implementation of variable refresh rate displays the failure rate seems to have escalated across the board.
Maybe badly coded firmware blowing out drivers in your case. Maybe a design or manufacturing flaw or a hot spot in the phone burning out the drivers. Google should owe up to it instead of whistling through their graveyard.
This is one of the reasons I didn't upgrade from the N10+. I also leave the firmware alone as it runs flawlessly as is. Well over 8k hours on this display, still perfect.
Lots of issues with the Samsung variable refresh rate displays on all their latter flagship models. Also a fair amount of display issues on their early fixed rate AMOLEDs. Whether they are user, hardware, firmware or induced by a combination of factors is unknown. As is the mean display lifetimes of various models. Display roulette
It should also be noted that OLEDs and AMOLEDs displays are completely incompatible with water. How well the OLEDs are or aren't encapsulated effects their lifespan and failure rate. Keep phones away from water and avoid water exposure regardless of the ip rating. High G loading from impacts or direct impacts can damage them; always use a good case. Battery swelling from a failure is another way they can be damaged. Overheating from direct sunlight exposure.

I've had no issues with any other OLED panel going all the way back to my S-AMOLED Samsung Captivate (first generation Galaxy S for AT&T). That means... Captivate, S3, S4, Note5, iPhone 12 Pro Max, Pixel 3 XL, OnePlus 9... Probably missing one or two in there. I turn off variable refresh because it annoys me so that theoretically should make my display less prone to failure but here we are. I mean the Pixel came out in October... Those other devices were kept a year give or take (12 Pro Max was two years old before I traded it for the Pixel 7 Pro).
I've never even had OLED burn in because I don't use auto brightness, I manually adjust. I take pretty good care of my phones.

OP seems to have a good display track record. iPhones I don't really track at all. I track Samsung's now as a matter of morbid curiosity as their flagships continue disappoint me. The N9 was ok but under powered. Samsung has always been hit or miss. Expandable storage would at least show up after being skipped for one generation. I always blew off models without it for the last 7 years... that will not change. As far as tech support Samsung's is poor. A true pain to deal with.
I have 2 N10+'S, my first AMOLED displays, zero issues. I always use manual brightness control and rarely go beyond 50% and then measured in seconds rather then minutes. Always use dark mode as well with no status bar icons.
Some user's insist on running brightness at or near 100% even indoors. Some don't use cases or use ones with inadequate protection.
What could go wrong?
I love Samsung S22/23 Ultra design. By far most beautiful phone design. But I'd say Google Pixel 7/7 Pro is so damn beautiful and original. Something different from other devices. If you put on the desk with iPhone, Samsung it will looks amazing. I'm happy with Google Pixel 7 Pro and it just works. Yes some will say performance isn't good as Samsung, iPhone or other. I don't care about it, but I really enjoy Pixel features. Samsung has best spam call blocking (Hiya), but Screen call is so well done I use most every time if unknown number calling. Did anyone looked how much system takes of storage out of the box. Interesting 65Gb. It is too much. Google use about 16Gb. Not the best but 4 times less. After all I'm too old for switching devices every year or more then once per year. So I'll use Pixel 7 Pro two or three years.

A slight upgrade over the S22U. Same clunky, heavy design with plenty of room for expandable storage. Samsung has failed to bring any real innovation for years now, just adding teasers.
They did considerably clean up the S23U chassis internally though. Much cleaner, too bad it's offset by other poor design choices.

That's what Google wants. However eventually if they don't rock it, somebody will. Samsung's flagship phones sales are suffering. Alienating their flagship power users isn't helping their cause.
My expected service life for my N10+'s is 3+ more years. No sweat as they continue to fullfill their mission and save me time and money. My 4G data plan is grandfathered and with 5G being used more now my bandwidth has increased. Cheap, battery friendly and more than enough bandwidth.
The N10+ is just a better balanced phone with a better form factor and display/bezel ratios than any of its successors. It has a better matched performance to available heat sink ratio and the same, often better battery life while weighing 30gms less. Samsung has failed to make their newer flagships effectively more efficient and just keeps slamming in bigger batteries to compensate. Unfortunately the heat sinking area/capacity hasn't increase to keep up with the higher thermal loads. Google Android has damaged functionality and efficiency with its scoped storage... no such thing on Android 9 and 10. By using the N10+'s I avoid the more undesirable Android versions simply by not upgrading/updating. Security simply isn't an issue in actual usage.
Such is the curse of Samsung's ineptness. As a pragmatist I didn't hesitate in exploiting this opportunity by buying a second new discounted N10+... and denting Samsung's pride futher. A stone cold pleasure. It may not be a good plan for some users but it serves me well. If I had to buy a flagship today it still be a new N10+ snap running on Q. Path of least resistance/maximum reward.
I have both. S23 Ultra is great, but Pixel 7 Pro is my daily driver. Photos are amazing.
Not happy that the firmware for the Ultra is over 10 GBs now to flash files. Compared with Googles 2 GB Files.
So I have pixel 7 pro and was thing to switch to U23 ultra, I was leave Samsung 7 years ago when was last note 4 so is little long time.
Right now not sur ei still have mixed feelings.
Pixel has smaller screen zoom about 10%-15% smaller also letter is well.
That big screen and waste it with bigger letters and icons.
Also I can't change samsung pass to Google password manager.
Display on pixel on my eyes looks more luxury then Samsung. But that is just my feeling.
Yes few thing what is issue on pixel there on U23U is work fabulous.
Big plus is battery pixel 7 pro I got around 8h+ on display U23U looks come around 12h+ that I'm impressed.
Also I love it quick setting widgets in pixel and looks without root is not possible to install on Samsung.
So yes also I love design S23U normal corner not kurve to much and spen Thst amazing plus.
So in my case not sure yet if will replace pixel 7 pro or not. All have pro and cons
I switched but I'm a little torn. I love all the little things the Pixel does right. The call screening, voice recognition, lack of bloat....but I needy screen mirroring, texts on my motorcycle (that the pixel never got right) and superior multitasking. I must say the battery life is on another level too but I was fine with it on the pixel. The cameras were fine too.
I switched from 7 Pro because this phone doesn't work in most of the World. In country I stay the most, it didn't have 5G, VoLTE and VoWiFi.
