I just bought Mi Pad 5 Pro Wifi yesterday. One thing I notice immediately is about downloading speed. I have tested with 3 devices and 2 different wifi network. My PC, SS S21 Ultra and Mi Pad 5 Pro. My PC and S21 Ultra easily reached the max speed of download ( 500Mbps) but on Mi Pad 5 Pro is only 200Mbps or lower. Try to reset the router, 3 devices and test another same 500Mbps Wifi at my friend's house, but it's the same result.
I tried to test the internet speed on site:fast.com and it still shows 500Mbps on Mi Pad 5. But in reality, it never reach that speed. Does anyone have the same issue?

i tested my pro 5g on both 5G data and wifi on the same site.
Data was slightly faster but get well above the 200mbps you're experiencing on wifi.
Do you use 2.4Gz band for wifi? I used the 5Ghz
Tests seem pretty normal across all testing sites.

Thank you for your testing. I've been using it for almost 2 weeks now. My wifi is Wifi 6 - 5Ghz. I change some settings in my router and the internet speed seems okay to my Pad 5 Pro now. It's now always be 500Mpbs max speed ^^
There are only a few sites I have test that Pad 5 Pro can reach max download speed (500Mbps) but I think it's the limit of the Chinese ROM, not really ulitized for all the network, even my SS 21 Ultra can reach higher download speed on the same sites compared to Pad 5 Pro.

Hey guys,
i've noticed that my Xiaomi doesn't have a good Wi-Fi range. In the same division of my house, I've got no signal on my device, and my girlfriend with his Huawei P8 Lite, got 2 stripes of signal. Is this normal? I've tried MIUI 8 Beta, CM 13 Official and Resurrection Remix ROM's, and all of them got the same signal in the same area.
Thanks

Are you using a case for the phone? If so try removing it some cases can cause issues,
wifi on my device seems ok and will switch to the 2 ghz network if the 5ghz gets weak

I already tried that but the problem persists...
That change is effective?
it should do it automatically, assuming you have a 5 Ghz router, and have the two SSID points named similar and not hidden , the phone should switch to the network with the strongest signal
in your router name the SSID like this (can change router1 to whatever you want, try not to use spaces)
Router1_5Ghz
^5ghz
Router1
^2ghz
since 2 ghz has a longer range then 5 you might get better reception.
Well this thing is making me crazy...I've tried so many different ways and all of them were unsucessfull!
There's some issue with this device...

Open phone and check ur wifi antennas traces.
This is happend to all rom included stock MIUI and All other avaible in XDA.
Its about Wifi disconnecting and reconecting again.
It happend around 4-5 time per every hour.
Did some one have this problem?
I have Redmi Note 4X 3 Gb Ram SD OV camera.
Im now on Viper OS but it happend ot Halogen, Aosp Extended, ACIP, Legend and almost all rom whit stock MIUI.
U might have a look at your Wifi router. If you still have the question of connecting when you are by the side of the router,it might be hardcore issue. As for me,I didnt see that problem xD.Have a good time in MIUI
Tnx.
But the problem was that happend in diffrent routers.
I am having Asus router at my place and i am using miui stock rom.... I have noticed wifi gets automatically disconnects when not in use i have tried with different setting but the result is same for me.... I thought it is my routers fault but now i am doubting that there is something strage in this device also...
Same here
Same issue here, I'm on AOSP extended 7.1.2 and Redmi Note 4

Its Linksys. With my Nexus 6p I didn't have this issue with the same router.
today I wanted to try the "pa_mido-7.3.0-DEV-20170930" and is the only one that has not given me wi-fi disconnection problems. Try and if it works for you, I suggest developers understand what's the difference with all the other builds ....
Is it a dual band router that you have?
I'm facing the same issue on 2 phones Mi A1(Nougat) and Nexus 6p (oreo), I'm doubting the band switching between 2.4Ghz and 5ghz is causing the wifi to disconnect and reconnect immediately at certain intervals.
At home, I have a 100m/bit broadband. My MiMax and iPAD connect on 2.4 @ about 55m/bit. My Redmi 5 plus, in the same room, is consistently around 10m/bit....but will connect at 50m/bit if i turn off bluetooth! Why? I read this on another forum too. I am on the latest global miui rom.
Will other ROMs have this issue?
I'm really thorn in between these 2 choices... Currently the Mipad 4 LTE variant is still not available in China... Considering if should wait for it or go with the Mediapad M5... Liked the dual speakers and the higher resolution on the M5 but the Mipad 4 price is hard to beat... Any advise ??
I end up cancel the LTE MIPAD 4 order (i guess no stock available) and buy M5. The price differrent is not alot for me as i order Mipad 4 from China compare to now buying M5 from my country), the different is approx 50-70 usd.
If you can live with the bluetooth wifi issue, M5 better choice which has better dual speakers in more ideal position (for landscape mode and sound quality), fingerprint reader. Mipad4 has slightly bigger battery, 3.5mm jack and more portable in term of the size.
Kirin960 vs SN660 ( no sure about this, antutu result show kirin960 slightly better)
OS wise no really sure, never use xiaomi and huawei, i hope both still can receive monthly security update at least for another 2 years.
Both are good tablets for me, i hope the bluetooth wifi issue wont bother me lot since i plan to use LTE network most of the time.
im not sure which one is better for me as well. I do not like the huawei android version and i do not like the mi pad 4 android version. So for custom roms i think the mi pad 4 will be better than the mediapad m5. BUT the mediapad m5 already got an unofficial version of lineageos which surprises me a lot. Not sure how many developers will grab the mi pad 4... So i might will wait some more time before i make my decision...
I will mainly use it for PDF reading and i am not sure if they are good for it, both have an aspect ratio of 16:10, i think. Not perfect for reading...
Not sure if the higher resolution of the m5 will have an impact on how the papers will look like. All the reviews, especially the chinese / asian ones, focus on gaming. It looks like all of them use it just for gaming...

Could you please explain what do you mean by saying "Bluetooth wifi issue"?
Look here for Bluetooth wifi issue.. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m5/help/wifi-speed-slow-bluetooth-t3767604
Conclusion they don't work well together. Poor wifi and poor Bluetooth..

No update fix after all these months?
No. It is probably a chip or antenna issue.

So that's the reason I will not buy MediaPad M5.
Thank you so much for your quick replies.
Well if that's a bummer for you then find another. Samsung is mostlikely great and twice the price. Xiaomi may have the same issue.
Anyhow, the MediaPad is a really great and very affordable tablet. I like it.
People need to understand that the wifi/Bluetooth issue has been solved just use 5ghz frequency on wifi and they both work fine simultaneously!

Maybe people don't have 5ghz router. It is still a shame for Huawei Tablets to have such an issue. It is not a super cheap 100$ Chinese tablet.
I have no problems with bluetooth and wifi on 2.4ghz
Had the Mi Pad 4 for 2 days and got rid of it immediately. I would like to have the option to make calls. No luck with the Mi Pad. The face unlock is godawful on the Mi Pad 4. There is no fingerprint sensor, so you constantly need to swipe your unlock code. The Gboard keyboard does not support popup keys and the tablet does not vibrate. So there is no visual or haptic feedback to typing, really weird. It is fast, memory ist double compared to the Mediapad, the screen is ok, sound is ok but overall, the Mediapad beats the Mi Pad in every category. For media consumption you also have to live with no HD on Netflix and Prime. It's worth to shell out the extra Dollars for the much better overall experience.
Just buy a xiaomi mi router 3 (100m wam) (20$) or 4 (1gb wam) (30$) and connect it with 5ghz, seriously, 2,4ghz is kinda pointless at this point
I would like to know how is the situation nowadays with netflix and amazon prime on mi pad 5 pro if they were only affected with sd quality or affected or still affect other services such as hbo max , youtube, and crunchyroll
I'm about to buy my mi pad 5 pro

Pad 5 Pro is having Widevine Level 1 already, so you will not cope with any restrictions on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Youtube is working fine here, I don´t use the others. I´m on MIUI 13.0.8 chinese/english version.

Thank you very much friend for answering, I made the purchase of mine and it's on its way
Hi !
I'm looking for a mi pad 5 pro and I saw there are some issues on widevine and Dolby/HDR.
While Widevine seems to be fixed, could anyone tell me if HDR and Dolby Vision are supported by the Mi Pad 5 Pro ?
Thank you in advance !
