GTR 2 screen turns off and never on again, black screen - Amazfit

I own the GTR 2 for around a year, was perfectly working until now.
Since last week, the screen is off and I can't get it on at all.
After unpair, it is on again but it lasts for a few minutes after pairing again.
If I'm not pairing, it stay on, waiting at the language/pairing screens.
When screen is off, the freezer trick (10 minutes in) is working and it is on again for a few minutes until again stays off.
On another trial I've set the always-on display and instead of a black screen the display stayed on but was frozen - clock didn't move.
Appreciate any hint, thnx

Same issue no solution so far

Screen randomly not turning off?

I've noticed a handful of times that if I don't turn my screen of manually, it does not shut off. battery will be nearly dead, phone hot, and the screen still on an hour later. I have it set to turn off after one minute, but it does not always work. Anyone else run into this?

Yes, mine is doing that as well. Did you find out anything about why this is happening?

I'm on a stock ROM and I haven't noticed the screen stay on longer than the timeout i have set, currently 1 min. Although, I might be in the habit of turning the screen off when I'm done, I do think I've left the screen many times and it always turns off as I've never noticed the screen being on for long periods of time.
One thing which does come to mind, is there is an app which I use that has a setting to keep the screen on while the app is open. Perhaps if you have one of these apps open, it would lock the screen on. Do you run any apps like that?
Are you guys rooted? HTC or Revolutionary unlock? What ROMs/kernels are both of you using?

[Q] Smart Stay

You guys have any issues with this?
Mine does not seem to work no matter how I stare at the screen
Is there something I am missing?
Smart Stay only looks for your face and eyes when the screen is about to time out. If you set the screen timeout to be very low (15s), you'll see the eye icon in the status bar just before it dims your screen. If it detects your face and eyes the screen will stay on, if not, the screen will turn off.
I guess it doesn't know who its master is.
Well I guess it doesn't make sense to keep the front camera on all the time. If you want the phone to 'know you' you can try Face Unlock. It works extremely well.

just woke up and seriously i read your name as silverurinal. hehe
now on topic, on dim situations smart stay doesn't work as good as advertised.
i'm guessing it's not using the light sensors for detection but the front cam.
i have tested it, if i seem to notice smart stay doesn't work well then i open the front camera and see if my face can be seen or it's dimmed, if the face is dimmed then that's the time smart stay doesn't work like it should.
the way smart stay works, is every 5 seconds it activates
if it detects you're still looking at the phone then it won't dim.
if it detects you're not looking at the phone then it will just dim the display not turn it off. then it activates the next 5 seconds and if you are still not looking at the phone then it will turn off the display.
No, smart stay is only active just before the screen off timeout.
You will notice the 'eye' on to the status bar, and only when it is active.

Bingo ^^
Dunno what the other lad was on about with his every 5 seconds!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
duhhhhhh
i said it activates every 5 seconds that's very different from active all the time or every second.
i just thought everyone has already noticed it that's why i went straight through and did not bother to detail it out, but since those two who posted after me certainly didn't know then i'll have to explain.
i have set my screen timeout to 15 seconds, smart stay (the eye) activates every 5 seconds to check if you're still facing the phone.
for those who set the screen timeout to 30 seconds, smart stay activates every 25 seconds.
for the rest of the timeouts, you all get the drift.
the reason for that is smart stay isn't only to keep screen on when you are looking at the phone like for example reading webpages etc
BUT ALSO TO TURN OFF THE SCREEN EARLIER THAN THE SCREEN TIMEOUT BECAUSE THERE'S NO USE KEEPING THE SCREEN ON WHEN YOU'RE NOT USING IT ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE WHO LIKE TO SET THEIR SCREEN TIMEOUT TO 1,2 MINUTES OR MORE. SO IT SERVES TWO PURPOSES HENCE THE "SMART" TAGLINE.:victory:

smart stay activates at different intervals depending on what you chose for screen timeout.

do yourself a favor and set your screen timeout to 15 seconds to see if i'm just telling a story or i'm telling it like it is before you post nonsense here.
then go tell yourself a story for your bedtime.

here i'll make it simple for ya.
smart stay guide for the lazy dummy.haha :victory:
obviously smart stay has to be on.
1. set screen timeout to 15 seconds.
2. lock the screen.
3. unlock the screen.
4. look at the phone then count 1 to 5 and you'll see the smart stay eye icon.
5. count 1 to 5 again then again you'll see the smart stay eye icon.
6. this time turn away the phone to the side enough that the front cam doesn't see your face but just enough that you can see the eye icon, and count 1 to 5 then again you'll see the eye icon ONLY DIFFERENCE THIS TIME IS THE SCREEN DIMS.
7. with the phone still turned away from your face, count 1 to 5 the eye icon appears THEN THE SCREEN FINALLY TURNS OFF.
now if yours doesn't work like that then maybe you have a FAKE SGS3 and it has DUMB STAY.
:victory:
Settle down mate.
Sorry, don't mean to hurt your feelings, but, nobody cares about your screen timeout settings.....
You should be more specific in your first post, not give an answer applicable to ONLY 1/6 settings! The answer you gave was only useful to those with 15 sec, but you didn't mention that.
For those using ALL other timeouts, the (edit: your) first post is wrong.
The OP was a general question, so the answer is that smart stay activates just before screen timeout. This is applicable to ALL settings.
End of story.

@ radeonxt
The activation of smart stay is relative to all timeout settings.
My tests (approx +/- 1 sec):
15 sec timeout: activation @ 5 sec & dim > again @ 12 sec > off @ 14 sec
30 sec timeout: activation @ 20 sec & dim > again @ 27 sec > off @ 29 sec
1 min timeout: activation @ 50 sec & dim > again @ 57 sec > off @ 59 sec
2 min timeout: activation @ 1:50 min & dim > again @ 1:57 min > off @ 1:59 min
Without me going any further, I hope you can see the pattern staring you in the face.
It's nothing about counting up to 15 secs etc, but smart stay activating just before timeout, whatever that may be.....
In all cases: activation at approx 10 & 2/3 secs before screen off. Not "at different intervals", you're just looking at the "glass half empty" not the "glass half full".
Also, it does not "turn the screen off earlier", but (as the results prove) always the same time before timeout, that is if the device hasn't been touched or smart screen doesn't detect the eyes.
There is no win here or (trying to) being smug, unlike your ": victory:" in your posts.
Keep it cool and factual. Cheers

Well, interesting argument, but whether this feature is turned on or off, I'm not seeing the eye icon ever appear, and my screen is just switching off after the set time. And yes, I'm in good light, looking straight at the front camera.

If your front camera works and you have enabled it (edit: smart stay) in settings >> software issue.
Two things to try:
1. Backup and factory reset
2. Upgrade your firmware to the latest version with Odin

Smart Stay has not worked on mine since the day I got it. Today for another unrelated problem I turned my phone off and pulled the battery out (this is the first time I've pulled the battery out since owning the phone) and put it all back together and magically Smart Stay is working for me now.
Go figure.

Screen lights up in standby

Hey guys!
My new S3 ( bought 30 may ),I noticed a few days ago when it is in standby mode, the screen lights up for 10 sec, then goes off again.
This happen nearly every 3/4 times then it stops.
This is annoying when i'm sleeping, sometimes it wakes me up
Also clearing all apps and RAM does NOT work.
Also restarting the phone is only a temp. fix.
Anyone having the same problem or knows how to fix it, please share it with me
Thanks for reading!

What app did she last installed?

Flashing White Screen

I was woken last night by a flashing light in my room, the screen on my N10 was cycling between white, black, and backlight off.
The power button would not wake the device, the only thing I could do is hold the power button down until it turned off.
On powering back up, everything was fine and it didn't do it again.
I don't have any apps installed that would cause this, no screen flash notifiers or anything like that, what the hell happened?
I had that happen once, about three weeks ago. Also don't know why, but it hasn't happened again since.

Maybe OP has an Ouija Board app installed on his N10!?!?
Happened to me too
The screen was flashing a monochrome pattern that looked like a TV test pattern. I had to reboot by holding down the power button. It hasn't happened yet. It also went completely black another time and wouldn't respond, I had to reset it that time as well. I was afraid that it was because I bought a reburbished Nexus 10. I'll repost if it happens again.

You bought a refurbished N10? Interesting. I'm curious - how well does it perform? Any issues, other than the aforementioned? I can only afford a refurbished model at the moment, I'm looking at the one currently on eBay buy-it-now 32GB for $430; are the speakers okay? How is the battery life? Solid?
Sorry for derailing the topic, you're just one of the first that I've seen who have bought a refurbished model.
That's probably the memory leak in the graphics driver that some people mentioned (and the crash resulting from it). I had this happening 2 or 3 times on my N10, but only after long uptimes (2-3 weeks). Until it gets hopefully fixed .. reboot more often.
It works well. The speakers sound great, the battery life is pretty good (I use it a lot). It does charge a bit slow, but I may buy the pogo charger.

Avoiding screen burn-in while Tab-S6 sleeps

I notice when the screen on the Tab S6 sleeps, text notification of the battery charge level will persist on the screen. This only happens if the USB power adapter is connected to the tablet and "screen saver" is disabled. The text remains fixed at a consist location (bottom center) of the screen, and remains for the whole time the device is sleeping.
My concern is that this text will eventually cause SCREEN BURN-IN.
MY PROBLEM ...
Display off, with wall adapter powering ON
. Screen is blank except for battery charge state is permanently displayed
. Bottom of screen shows "100% / Fully charged"
. My fear is this will eventually cause SCREEN BURN-IN of the displayed text.
MY SOLUTION ...
Make a black JPG file, which is used for screen saver, during sleep.
. Place a JPG file in folder: \DCIM\ScnSaver
. JPG file should be sized as 2560x1600, with pure black content.
Display > Screensaver > ON/OFF
. Photo frame ON.
. Select photo frame from folder "ScnSaver"
APP FOR SLEEPING
. Optionally, Install from App Store, "Screen Off Trial", by Iwashi Soft.
. This app will sleep the device and activate screen saver.
. Many other "screen/power off" apps will not activate the screen saver.
Yes. Same issue with the Note 10/+.
No need to worry. Assuming Samsung is still doing the same thing, it will occasionally move the text around.

I watched the charging notification on my N10+ and it does not move. At all.
And even if it just moves a pixel or two in any direction, nitnwikl still burn in over that area.

It will not burn in that area. It does move the pixel around, it's the same for Note 10 series. I'm sure Samsung should by now already know how to combat screen burn in.

Even if it moves a little (it doesn't), it doesn't move the whole charge icon. Just a couple pixels to the side leave about 90% of the pixels in the same place, so Ilit will eventually burn in.
By the way, I'm holding a N10+ in my hands right now, and the charge notification does NOT move.
I found this issue last night as well. I share your concern. I'm likely going to be powering the tablet down for overnight charging till this is addressed more completely.
I really don't understand this. I have changed of course. All time screen off. When wake it up, it said fully charged...
Then it must be a question of a setting. I'll go looking for it tonight.

If it's like the Note 10, there's no setting to turn it off. But there is a work around.
Go to Display settings and turn on screensaver. Set it to "Photo," but don't hit the settings icon next to it or point it toward your Google Photos. That way, it won't have a pic to load for the screensaver and will instead load a black screen.
When you plug it in, it will time out to the screen saver, which will be a black screen WITHOUT the charge notification.
If it doesn't time out to screensaver, just wake the screen up then let it time out on its own.
