This device finally seems like a worthy buy if one wants to go into the Samsung ridden 4nm fabrication 8 gen 1 CPU. Best temperatures and lowest throttling of all phones with that chip.
One can only hope if Realme releases it with an unlocked bootloader right at launch for it to get a proper aftermarket dev support.
Well, I am planning to consider a Realme smartphone, GT2 Pro is looking really a great phone, but unlocking bootloader and rooting is mandatory to me and i really don't know what to do.....
I guess on realme phones is not easy like xiaomi / google devices doing that. At last unlocking the bootloader could be easy but how is difficult to find official ROM updates in order to patch the boot image to install magisk?
Honestly after years with OnePlus I needed a change of pace, and this Realme catched my interest, same doubt of others, I'm using Magisk and root privilegies for small thing that probably won't hurt my experience, but I'd like to have the possibility to unlock the bootloader and install/modify things in order to get a better experience.
Let's cross fingers and hope for some developments, probably I'm going to buy it at or close to launch for the early bid discount.

Global Realme are nearly impossible to be unlocked, that is why i asked.....
This promising to be a very good phone, but xiaomi is always the 1st choice for people who need the phone to be unlocked......
It should be possible to convert the Chinese version which I have to the Global one. It's been possible on previous GT series.

But you need to unlock the bootloader.....
I hope it only take a while to be unlocked.... I've bought the chinese version. Ok it work fine, only some features here and there that give me some trouble, like not work "ok google" but instead there is this Breeno app that I absolute hate and other minor annoying things. For the rest its a very premium phone.
I hope someone with the EU/Global version will tell us something soon.
For mnow I have debloated all chinese apk and unuseful apps from ADB command (can't with Breeno main app, the search bar, market and whatsoever all gone), work fine, but the Google services doesn't work at their best. Wait for EU/global indication (if possible)

Dunno how the situation is in other country, but here in Italy Realme made some really bad moves.
The 100€ discount for the early bids became a 50€ discount for the 8/128 and a pair of buds for 12/256 (official site), on amazon IT the discount is right but it's available at the end of march.
So... I thing I'll keep my OnePlus 7T and wait

Well... I'm from Italy too....
Interested in the 12/256 version.
Used for a while the EU version of this phone thanks to a reviewer who gave me it for a day.
All I can say, it's a good phone with some bugs. Pictures are really great.
The problem is unlocking bootloader and installing magisk is mandatory to me and I already know that with Realme it's not easy as Xiaomi or Oneplus..... (Updates etc etc...).
So... let's see what will happen..... (including wating for the Xiaomi 12 Ultra too...)
I'm really planning to get this phone. Hopefully we'll see bootloader unlocking and custom ROM development on it.
So how do we know if it’s unlockable?
I have the global GT 2 Pro, in the DEV OPs „Unlock OEM“ is available
You can try to enable developer option, then enable OEM Unlock and USB debugging.
Then you can try to search and download the app Depth Testing 1.1.0 and try to apply.
If that app works, you can reboot to bootloader and type
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
Note that your phone will be wiped and all will be erased.....
That is the main problem of Realme phones, unlocking bootloader must be approved......

Can we able to unlock the bootloader in the future? Or realme won't give us the permission?

It's a very good dual-sim smarthphone recently launched!
Thanks! :good:
At least root will be helpful (i've tried unlockroot and root by bin4ry, but it doesn't work). Thank you
Yeah, I'm wanting to buy an Ascend G600, but I wish it were possible to the root of it, I think because it is new in the market still will not have a root or a Custom ROM soon, but I think someone is going to make or discover, if this happens please post here!
Thanks!
I do also need password to the Qualcomm background setting (from the engineering menu * # * # 2846579 # * # *). Password "0" doesnt work like in the G300 or other devices. Do somebody know this password? Can anybody help me with that? Thanks

Its really good phone for the price. I did not want to buy some chinese phone from uknown brand, so i chose huawei. Hardware is good. Antutu benchmark around 5700 (my max was 5760). Only thing that i dont like is that this phone is still not rooted, so play store does not work atm. Also there are chinese apps. But at all i don't regret that i bought this phone.

Could you tell a little about how well the GPS works? How fast do you get a satellite lock on a cold start, and is it precise?
I've tried GPS only once (just to test if it works properly) for endomondo sport tracker. It took about 3 minutes to lock gps (without using internet). And after that i test it on my bike. Signal and accuracy were OK.
The thing is that i don't want to pay for navigation and I am abroad so I don't have internet so I can't test GPS with online Google maps. I'm sorry that the answer is not sufficient...

Very Thanks! I'm anxiously awaiting the root to decide something about this smartphone, I know he has great specs, but want to see it combined with Root and Google Play! I hope that the Huawei Ascend G600 (U8950D) has official support for MIUI as they officially launch the Huawei Ascend for P1 and Huawei Honor!

Hello. Does this phone has greek language menu support?
I bought it from china and there were only 2 languages (english and chinese), but I installed Morelocale2 and I chose my language (czech) and it works fine. After I changed it, in the menu-setting-language- was displayed my new language. In Morelocale is also greek so its possible to change it. My answer is yes, it supports. I can upload screenshots with menu in greek if you want

Bruno is a great Dev, but he works with phones with MediaTek processors, the Huawei Ascend G600 (U8950D) have a Qualcomm processor. I was thinking of porting a MIUI rom for Ascend G600 has a guide here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777999, but I have no experience with this, someone qualifies?
Have you guys tried this root method?
http://androidsu.com/superuser/
You can flash it in your stock recovery and it will inject the latest su binary and the superuser app.
Once you have root you can use adb pull to get a copy of your system and boot images. Then use dsixda kitchen to build a stock based custom ROM.
If you guys have the kernel source you can try building from source to get AOSP based ROMs.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Hi, thanks for advice. I've tried it, but it does not work at all :-/

Hi,
Everything works fine on this ROM ? What about support for Redmi 3 Pro ? Do you plan to make it compatible with this device ?
Because MIUI is good but some "essential" features such as using only one finger to expand notifications are missing. And is there more available RAM than in MIUI ?
Thank you

Wait isn't xiaomi.eu an official ROM? You're comparing apples and oranges if so. Right now you're asking for features(or lack thereof) that the developer has absolutely no obligation to oblige. So ask nicely, if he agrees, good, if he doesn't, either learn to live with it or move on. No need for any nasty retorts.
Wut! xiaomi.eu obviously unofficial.
I just requested him to look chinese language to be ommited and didn't find any answer in good way. Some one replied me to prove that I did mistake buying chines manufacturer phone and op supported him without posting a reliable reply wether he's able to do or not.
Don't interact always to irrelevant person or topic on where are you not called to do so.

This is a public forum. This forum was made for interaction. You are, however, right to say that you are irrelevant, especially in this topic since you've already had your reply. In case you can't read into subtleties, the answer to your "request" is no, he will not omit Chinese language. This is understandable because the OP's main language is probably Chinese, and he may lack the translated material required to accede to your request. I am effectively bilingual and would have offered to try help with that. But since you put it so nicely(as you also did in your request to the OP), thanks but no thanks. Stick to xiaomi.eu ROMs or make your own, if you are so capable.
OP as a long time XDA user I apologise for my fellow user's rudeness. He doesn't appear to understand that your efforts are unpaid for and probably a solo effort.

Currently have an aging Axon 7 which is looking like will never get Oreo. I was looking to get a new phone in the next few months but I really dislike the rear fingerprint sensor. So the View 10 looks pretty good, but I had a few [basic] questions
1) Has the Android Auto issue been fixed?
2) Can you replace the stock launcher with Nova?
Hey there
I'm having second thoughts too, because of the finger print sensor. Maybe wait for the Xiaomi Mi7, which will probably have the fingerprint scanner under on the screen (!!).
As for your questions:
1. Don't know what you're talking about
2. You can install the Nova Launcher on every Android Device!

Thanks. This helped. Do you also know how to open QR scanner to scan qr codes without taking picture first or running it from lock screen?
Hello everyone!
I have repacked @phhusson 's Quack Phh-Treble GSI to a flashable TAR file that we can flash on the S20 devices.
For more info about Quack Phh-Treble GSI check this thread here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...velopment/aosp-10-0-quack-phh-treble-t3992559
You must have a device with an unlockable bootloader
What doesn't work?
Auto brightness
Fingerprint enrolment works 50% on first boot and randomly works when screen is off
Reports about MTP not working - could be a driver issue
Proximity Sensor
Screen timeout is always 15s
NFC
For a full list of issues, check the official github - https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/issues
What works?
Everything else!
Found something else that doesn't work? Let me know and I'll update the thread.
What do these repacks include
The official release of Quack Phh-Treble GSI with Gapps (system-quack-arm64-ab-gapps.img)
Cross Device Lineage Recovery Flashable - Phh SYSTEM image only!

If you can unlock your device' bootloader and root it, it will work. Otherwise, no
This isn't for snapdragons in the US. Tired of this crap from Samsung and others
i can get gsi to install using dsu but when u press restart it hangs on splash screen a min or two then reboots normally.. so cant even boot gsi without root unfortunately on locked devices

ah. but, I have a weird s20. The model number says it's an S20 Pro (build number is: m_l805_pmz_a6601_welcome_en_yl_128a16_v04 and a CSC of zmu1a0h5 - also note, i'm not sure if that's l805 or 1805 and yl or y1 - dunno). I got the thing on wish (ya, ya...bad idea, i know, but it's too late now). I'm not sure what ROM to get, if any. I'm hoping a friendly guru can help guide me. The phone says i'm using over 100gigs of internal storage, but...i don't have near enough apps to fill up that much. I installed one 26 meg app, yet the phone is claiming it took up 3gigs of space. Whaaaat?
Is there something I'm missing? I mean, cell phones confuse me sure, but (as a programmer) I think I understand the basics and this just baffles me. Will this ROM work on this phone? Can I change the CSC, cuz some things come up with chinese or korean lettering, which, of course, I can't read so that's annoying)

It's definitely a bad clone, Samsung S20 Pro doesn't even exist... I'd ask for a refund.
I'd love to see advancements on this in the future! Now that American models can unlock im sure lots of people would like to try stock Android.
does 120hz work on this?

I'll test if you build it. I haven't built anything in a couple of years so I'm way to rusty to try right now.

Ummmm.....Please install a fake phone checker or something because there is no S20 Pro and 'welcome' is usually used in phones bought of fake stores.
Would you please send me screenshots of the settings app and other UI elements? I would like to tell if you've gotten yourself/your parents have gotten you a fake device.

Hi for everyone!
I have been looking for custom rom for our Motorola Edge +. But I haven't found any yet. However there is the option of the GSI rom's, this smartphone has an A / B system partition. 64-bit ARM CPU architecture. (information obtained with the "Treble Check" app)

I found some roms of this type, like the MIUI 12 GSI but I have not been able to test it because it is my only smartphone and I would need to be doing tests and checking stability.
Has anyone tried GSI roms?
Regards.
I've also been wondering if this is possible, let me know if you get any news on it.
I tried to flash a vanilla GSI Rom via TWRP, and it failed. I wanted to install the image to partition 'System', which isn't there. don't know if it has to do with the custom twrp that I used.
Got it working. after unlocking the bootloader I downloaded a GSI Android 10 ROM from here:

github.com
1) booted into the bootloader ('adb reboot bootloader' if your phone is in debug mode)
2) started fastbootd by typing fastboot reboot fastbootd
3) flashed the gsi image: fastboot flash system system-quack-arm64-vanilla.img
4) phone booted and said it couldn't find an image. chose for the option 'erasa /data' and voila.
not sure what is working and what is not working. probably will try some other gsi images later.

Well, I installed a Lineage 17.1 (Android 10) GSI rom. my goal now is not to get Android 11 running, but to get the phone running with some more Motorola functionality. I installed microg and hope at the end to have a useable phone. don't care if it is Android 10 or 11.
Anyone an idea how to get the motosignature library installed on a GSI image? it appears to be quite essential when one wants to take advantage of the motorola edge+ hardware

Maybe this?
I can't seem to get them to flash. They always throw up an error when writing system, fails at the end.

Hello, how was your Motorola Moto Edge Plus? I'm thinking of putting ROM CUSTOM because of the facial recognition that Motorola excluded from the ROM STOCK.
I'm sorry for the language, I'm translating with google translator

The sole purpose of buying an Android phone for me was to degoogle it. (Unfortunately you cannot de-apple an iPhone). What I feel about the Motorola Edge? its a phone and it works, its a premium feel phone, but it isn't an iPhone (sorry imho iPhones have been and always will be the better, more complete phone). To achieve having a degoogled phone: I gave up on going down the road of loading a GSI and missing all kinds of proprietary/custom features of the devices. Instead I went back to de stock rom and degoogled and debloated it. I am happy now to run microG, Aurora Play Store and other things to spoof my identity / location / contact tracing. And I am happy to feel that I am not playing the game of big tech anymore. For as long that its possible.

lol yes. Still for some reason failing. I wonder if it is the version of adb I'm using or the GSIs themselves?
Got it! I needed a newer fastboot version. Running like a charm now
@crixley @Hansaplast31
Could you possibly let us know what gsi you used and what files you flashed to make your device function? Also a step by step?
I really would like a step by step too if it's possible please!
I have posted a tutorial on how to flash GSI. I got lineageos 18 working but without VoLTE or Display over USB. I don't think there is a custom rom with Display over USB though.

How did you get it done to degoogle it and getting microg running using the stock rom? Is it similiar to this proccess https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-degoogle-any-device-and-install-microg.4058743/ ?
I share the same philosphy about buying a phone.
