Question International 5G Support - Microsoft Surface Duo 2

Hello all,
I'm planning to buy the Duo 2 and I live in Saudi Arabia with 5G network. From previous experience, when buying an international mobile, it doesnt' always support the proper band.
Before I pay that much for the duo 2, how can I make sure it'd work prpoperly?

Here are the 5G bands on the Surface Duo 2 depending on your region:
USA – 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 20, 25, 28, 38, 41, 66, 71, 77, 78, 79, 257, 260, 261 SA/NSA/Sub6/mmWave
Rest of the World – 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 20, 25, 28, 38, 41, 66, 71, 77, 78, 79 SA/NSA/Sub6
Saudi Arabia is on band 78 I believe, so you're good.

Thanks dear. I have purchased the device and it worked with a 5G SIM card (not with the 4G SIM though).
I do have anoother issue, while the mobile connections works fine. I can make calls, send recieve SMS, and use the internet; but I can't recieve all phone calls. Some reported to me that they are unable to connect to my number at all. They don't revieve busy tone or out of coverage tone, and I don't receive an SMS notification. This is only for certain numbers, not all.
This makes me want to sell the phone as it's not 100% useable to me.
What do you think!

Question ; is Surface DUO 2 compatible e-SIM ?

Same here, you just need to disable voLTE.

I forgot about the post. My issue was resolved, turned out to netwrok registration issue. I had to call the support and they reset the sim registration in the network then it worked perfectly.
My issue happened when issuing the e-sim card which was with the new device. So Ihought it was the device that had the issue.

F3212 vs F3216 what's the difference?

Anyone know?
Different LTE bands F3212 - LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20) F3216 - LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28, 38, 39, 40, 41M).
If I were to buy and unlock a XA Ultra from Wind Mobile (F3213); would it work on Virgin Mobile? From what I have researched, I think it would, but looking for community confirmation / perspective.

Now available in the US!

Just got an email from Asus with this link...
http://www.zenfone.org/2016/09/zenfone-3-deluxe-now-available-to-buy-from-amazon-in-usa/
Now available from Amazon but only thing is, 64gb and silver is the only choice.
If/when we have a bootloader unlock method, or possibly if the 256gb version shows up, then I'll buy. Don't know what I'd do with an android phone without root. (6p user)
I'm willing to bet the hardware will be exactly the same inside, similar to the Axon 7.
Maybe a similar sort of root method will be available? Fingers crossed...
does it work with the europe frequencies?

My understanding is yes, it supports Europe frequencies.

Considering the ASUS official bootloader unlock tool is available for the regular Zenfone 3 (since Sep 29), I'm willing to bet the Deluxe one is coming very soon.

US version missing US LTE bands?

Just chatted with Nokia support, and the rep states that the US model has the same LTE bands as the European version. The bands listed are as follows:
LTE: Band 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28, 38, 40, 41 (Full band 41)
If that's the case, most carriers in the US would not be supported. Any of you hear different? It would make no sense for Nokia to ship out a new device to the States if something as basic as LTE bands isn't properly supported.

Here's hoping. That would make much more sense. I'll reach out to Nokia again to clarify, cause it would make no sense whatever to not have proper LTE support. I'm assuming I got bad info considering the phone was just announced.
Still missing 29/30 for AT&T which is odd because they're not that new like band 71 for T-Mobile.

I had a chat with a Nokia rep about this and she posted this for me. It seems to agree with the bands listed on the B&H site.
Its seems only in US we have the 4GB/64 GB variant. If I buy from US, can I use the phone in UK & India?
Does anyone have info if the US version supports VOLTE (Tmobile and it's mvno's specifically). B&H does not list it in the specs (unless i missed it?)

I'm on AT&T and have "Enhanced LTE" and WiFi Calling. I can enable both but WiFi calling doesn't work because AT&T won't allow it on a prepaid plan. I don't see why it wouldn't work on TMO but I don't know for sure.
I am using it on T-Mobile and haveVoTe and VoWifi. The phone only shows 4G and does not show LTE. In the settings where you can choose the highest band to connect I only see 2G, 3G and 4G (with 4G being selected). I occasionally see 4G+. Can someone confirm if 4G is indeed LTE?
I am on ATT and am only getting 4G or H+ Icon and my download speeds peak at 4.5 Mbps. I was on the phone with ATT and we reset and recreated the Access Point Names with no luck. I also got a new SIM card with no luck either.
I think the phone is going back...
There is a difference, what you want to be seeing is "LTE" being displayed in your status bar *during* your data connections as it is faster than 4G. As for VOLTE merely seeing that as an option in your settings does not mean your calls are going to be Voice over LTE. What you want to see is "LTE" being displayed in your status bar *during* phone calls.
Unless you see someone posting an actual screenshot of LTE displaying in the status bar during data connections and unless you see someone posting an actual screenshot of LTE displaying in the status bar during a phone call you do not know if that phone has LTE capability on their particular carrier. Too many times we see people declaring that their phone has VOLTE (phone calls) or LTE (data connection) because they discovered there is an option to enable it in their settings. Their carrier has to actually be producing it which is only verifiable by screenshots. Hope that helps.
Here is the short explanation...

Screen cap while not on a call, TMobile in Denver.
Sorry, can't add another screen cap... Here's one on a call.

volte - voice over lte. I do not own this devive but I have to assume 4G is LTE. you can download LTE discovery from google play and check with that app.
I was having the same issue with AT&T after getting the Nokia 7.1 and a new nano sim card (no LTE data). Good news (in a roundabout way), after updating to Pie this morning I was getting no data at all, called AT&T and now the network actually recognizes the phone manufacturer as HMD global and they had the option to attach LTE to my plan. So, give it another shot with AT&T customer service.
I'm on ATT. My phone was only indicated 4G (no LTE) until I updated the APN settings. I used ATTs recommended settings for LTE and now I am showing LTE in the status bar.

Questions about using this on a different network?

I don't know if this is the correct forum but I'm sure it will get moved if not. So I have Visable wireless as my carrier. It's great because 40 a month gets you unlimited data, and I'm not talking throttled after so much but like I could torrent and watch movies all month with no problem. They use Verizon towers. I broke my crappy ZTE I bought from them. My friend gave me a Samsung A10 which is a much better phone. I tried to get them to hook it up. The rep said it was incompatible. I asked him what frequinces they used. This phone used all the exact same channels as what he specified. Exactly. This is Verizons bands: 3G Frequencies (MHz): 850, 1900
4G LTE Bands: 2, 4, 5, 13, 66. Visable Wireless is a MVNO partner of Verizon. There are using LTE bands: 2, 4, 5, 13, 66. The exact same. My device needs to be approved by Verizon for use on their network. It was sold and used previously as a Verizon device. I think they just want me to buy another crap ZTE device. I should be able to use this is I change my PRL and APN right? I see no reason why not as it's not only compatible but 100% compatible. Its unlocked and has a clean IMEI. The phone its self is a a102u and it specs are: CDMA 2G CDMA: 800, 1900 MHz
GSM 2G GSM, GPRS, EDGE: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
CDMA 3G CDMA2000, EV-DO: 800, 1900 MHz
GSM 3G/3.5G UMTS, HSPA+: 850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz and the important one....4G LTE LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 38, 39, 40, 41, 66, 71 Bands
4G LTE LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 38, 39, 40, 41, 66, 71 Bands
Is anyone going to reply to this? I feel like the fat kid getting picked last at dodgeball.

Question Sony Xperia 1 iii Bands

Does anyone know if cell phones have their bands locked by region for example the new Sony Xperia 1 iii has 3 different regions w all different bands, if I buy a phone with the Asian or European ROM and flash the US ROM on it will the bands change and open with the new flashed ROM, or each model has it's specific bands ... Thanks
Each model has specific bands. Although it's looking like in the USA tmobile will have the most band support
I saw that was just hoping that with a ROM flash you could unlock bands by region, wanted to buy the gray 512gb one... I guess not

It has expandable storage so base storage isn't really a big deal. IMHO. I'm currently using a note 20 ultra with 1tb SD card. Haven't run into any problems.
