Why/background if you are interested:
I have been using the LG G3 for about a year and my wife dropped hers in the water so I'm getting the note up and running, it got me thinking about updating from CM10.1.3 to 11 or 12. I didn't see anything great from 11 to 12.1 on my G3, couple lock screen options etc simple stuff, however I have to cycle the data toggle every so often to get data working, the loss of bluetooth was a deal breaker and required 12.1, but I digress.
The heart of the question:
on CM's website I see there is a snapshot (not going for nightly, but, also it's not stable) for both 11 and 12. In your opinion what do you think about cm11 or cm 12.1 on the note 2. The snapshot worked pretty well on the G3. Are they stable enough for you? worth it? Many benefits? Blown out of the water? Side notes - I won't use full screen casting (I have an android box), I will use pandora/etc music apps with the chromecast option to our stereo some mornings, I don't care how my lock screen looks or functions (I turned them off on my G3).
Thoughts about security and oudated apps:
[/U] Issues I foresee if I stay on cm10 - security - stagefright exploit, if apps are changed and I don't update my apps and errors occur or some stuff might get outdated and just stop working and require an update to use it, on that note I see my navionics app stopped working and won't load/initialize. My LG G3 kept loosing bluetooth in Pandora and Soundcloud after they were updated, I fixed it by moving to cm12.1. I turned off auto update to avoid this on the note 2 with apps
What baseband is needed?
I never did an OTA update when I got it. I rooted the note 2 the day I got it, but I can't remember what build it was on, I'm on baseband VRAMC3. Lastly I had to update the oem software on the LG to get a newer baseband for cm12.1. TWRP wouldn't even flash cm12 until I updated. Do I need to do anything similar for the note 2, or can I flash from 10 to 12? [/B

I honestly got out of using the AOSP ROMs for my Note since I noticed some issues with camera quality not being as good as the stock. it wasn't horrible. but I would see some glitches with video and I could just see the image caliber was not as good as a touchwiz ROM.
Hey guys I have looked for a forum for samsung's new entry level tablet Tab A7(2020) SM-T500 and cannot find one. This device released in september and is decent alternative to amazon's fire tablet line. It does have some software shortcomings and came here looking to see if there is any developers working on it and no luck finding any. Does anybody know of development on this tablet at this time?
I was looking for the same thing. If the tablet proves popular, and I think it will, then it’ll eventually get a section on XDA.
s-t500 root
What do we think are the odds of it being rootable? Is it just Verizon tablets (using a SM-T378V atm) that have issues with unlocking the bootloader? Is it just gonna be an issue of time since it was just released? I'm hoping that since it's Wi-Fi only it shouldn't have as many hoops to jump through. It's on sale at Wal-Mart atm for $170 atm so veryyy tempted to pull the trigger on upgrading

Yes. A7 have OTG.
My model is T505.
Another vote for a dedicated A7 forum. I just got mine, unlocked it, and rooted it. I'd like to have a section to watch for new threads related to this tablet.
Why Tab A7 is the only tablet not getting Android 11 or LineageOS 18.1 ???????

It does have Android 11 now I just bought mine a few days ago and I had a crap ton of updates including Android 11 within that update and security patch for September
Be great if the Galaxy Tab A7 had a dedicated forum.
I've noticed this issue with the latest update from Samsung..
Since only recently updating to the latest software for this tablet I've encountered charging issues.
I've been charging the device using the standard cable it came with and instead of the tiny 1.5 Amp charger I've been using a 3.2 Amp which has worked fine until the update.
Since the update the tablet hardly charges at all.
After a full night on charge the device increases 15% battery life!
The tablet will also now NOT CHARGE when it is switched off!
I've noticed since the update the "fast charge" selection within the settings is permanently on and can't be turned off.
I've also noticed that if I use a 45 watt charger and cable for a laptop the device charges extremely fast while either on or off, however I don't have this charger or cable easily available simply to charge the tablet.
I mainly use this device in remote areas where fast charging isn't available and only standard chargers are available.
It would appear Samsung are forcing people to upgrade their entire charging network for 1 device that actually used to work perfectly prior to the update.
Can Samsung please undo this update that now makes standard charging unavailable to us mere mortals.
Seems Google is struggling with pixel 6 series.
First the critical Dec release was delayed/not yet reached to many ppl.
Secondly, no sign of 12L beta on pixel 6.
All is not well with 6 series.
December OTA is stopped due to connecting network issues

Google is not struggling with the P6. It is the same thing every year with a new OS and new devices.
Curious to why you want Android 12L, it is geared towards Android tablets.

I think they do, Pixel 6 Dec patch was released 1 week after old devices (Which has not yet reached to mass - Source: https://9to5google.com/2021/12/20/does-your-pixel-6-have-the-december-2021-update-yet-poll/ ).
Android 12L beta 1 was released 2 days after the Dec patch for older devices, on Dec 8. And todays is 22nd Dec (more than a week after "so called" Dec patch release) but no sign of any 12L beta.
No comms or news about 12L beta as well, from google, for Pixel 6 series (apart from "Coming Soon" tag).
Regarding your curiosity: I bought pixel 6 just for regular updates and early access to newer version.

I have downloaded the december release over OTA after searching for updates. Then rolled back to november because of the problems with calls and now the december release is not offered any loger (if i search for updates).
I even think they have stopped it.
If the beta isn't today, I doubt we'll get it. Maybe we have to wait until beta 2.

I personally don't consider it as a mess up. Been getting Google phones since the Nexus 6 with the exception of the Pixel 4. I would only guess that there is going to be a few bumps in the road with something like 6 being that it is a whole new "phone" in sorts if you would call it that. Consider a new type of chip (not been tested much if at all), new fingerprint scanner (For Google its new and it SUCKS), a little larger phone AND I think a large portion of it is consider supply and demand with supplies with building a phone. Google has always aimed for the NEXT best thing, a sort of pioneer. I had the Pixel 5 and it was great for about 6 months then nothing but problems for me. My wife loves her 5 and doesn't like the 6. Although she can handle the little things that drive me nuts with the 5 and she can't stand the trade off for the 6, being larger and the finger print scanner that is limited to 5 unlocks a day before charging (due to the time it takes to get the hamster run fast enough on his wheel). This is just my 2 cents worth and not even worth that most of the time.
If you know of another phone manufacturer, that offers monthly updates (95%) of the time for a min of 2 years, Is vanilla android, and gets new Android versions 1st not to mention unlockable bootloaders for those who have to tinker, don't be greedy! I am sure there is a few of us that would consider trying another phone line up just to try if nothing else. Darn that is another nickels worth . OK I shut up now..
I will be happy to try beta 12L for my android tv devices. Most Android tv boxes are using out dated software.
But for the P6 it is a no for me. I just do not see any benefits for the P6.

ATM not, maybe at this weekend.
Please write here if anyone install it. I have no WiFi for a third day, so I am thinking if installing 12L. Just want to be sure it's OK for a daily use. Main topics - how's WIFI, how's camera, how's battery life compare to regular 12 build. Thanks in advance!

I received March security update on March 14th on my A52s. I see no performance, battery or any other issues.
Anyway if Samsung messed with software on purpose i doubt all those users would go and buy newer Samsung phone again. It's a reach..
A52s is a better device anyway with 778G instead of that Exynos. And it has 3.5mm jack.

Well A52 has way slower CPU and i would advise against updating to newer Android on midrange phones anyway. Updating definitely does slow down phones, but it's not like Samsung is doing it on purpose..
Xiaomi for example isn't updating mid range phones to android 12, but instead offering new MIUI 13 coupled with Android 11. Samsung should start doing something like this.
Similar is with Windows i have couple of older machines that work great on 7, fast and snappy, but on 10 or 11 are just unusable.

Then i don't know i honestly don't have a problem. Did you try clearing cache from recovery, that's something i usually do every time i do a major update to newer version.
I believe it's possible to downgrade with Odin yes. Tutorial
When i bought A52s i instantly got the oneui 4 update and updated so i really can't compare it if it would work faster on oneui 3.

Did Apple not get sued, for doing something like this.. They made the phones batteries go south, just so people would buy a new one.. I'm planning dumping this phone by the end of next month.. I'm not sure what I'm getting but it will not be a A53.

in the end OneUI is just android and we know android updates are always a joke, see Pixel 6/Pro, Oxygen/ColorOS, MIUI and etc...
I've had no significant issues with my A52s after any of the updates, just the odd bug/glitch. I wonder how much of this is down to individual apps not behaving nicely with the update, giving the impression that the problem is with Samsung's software.

Not buggy at all for me.
The main version might be just around the corner. So might as well wait another week or two for that. Else you'll have to do it all over again.
Android 13 stable release to AOSP has a default security patch level of 2022-09-01, so it likely won't get released until September.
I am planning to wait because a few apps that I use will need to catch up to Android 13.
It's in beta, and like all betas, it's not quite ready for public release. If you want to try the new Android, go for it, but don't expect it to be stable or functional enough for a daily driver, much less perfect.
It seems as stable as my Samsung S20 was.
I didn't run my P6 with Android 12, I went straight from a Galaxy S20 (with Android 12) to the P6 with Beta 13.
The current beta 13 is very stable, but I do hit a snag every now and then. I use it as my daily driver.... and like I said, it's as stable as my S20 was....And I prefer 13 over 12.
It's not buggy at all for me. Works great!
+1 Works great.

Yes
It's stable and better than 12.
Get it in, jump.
I am on the latest Beta and see very few if any bugs. It solved most of my complaints about the P6 on 12. Fingerprint reader is improved (I'd give it a B now). The only thing that has not improved (so I suspect it is hardware) is my cellular reception. I think it is just the older modem they used. I get less reception in many areas compared to my work iPhone sitting right next tot he P6. Sometimes there is no data coming down on the P6 and iPhone works fine.
