I have two used LG G8x - G850QM (unlocked) and G850UM (Sprint unlocked).
I am on T-Mobile for years.
The G850QM on T-Mobile shows wifi-calling on the menu and it works.
The G850UM has no wifi-calling switch on the menu, just not there.
I installed WiFi Calling app from Widget7 from Play Store. The app seemed to bring out a hidden WiFi calling menu. And the WiFi calling works. I confirmed the WiFi calls on my T-Mobile bill portal.
Hope this can help

I used two different VoLTE Check app. Both indicated VoLTE ACTIVE.
I dai!ed *#*#4636#*#* to go into Diag menu. "Phobe Info" indicated that
VoLTE provisioned
Video Calling Provisioned
WiFi Calling Provisioned
EAB/Presence Provisioned
But all the "switches" were grayed out.
This is in my daiily driver LG G8X g850UM on T-Mobile.
I assumed VoLTE is working automatically.
Most people with tmobile on this phone have found that for calls the phone goes from 4g to 3g when making a call. You will only see this transition if you are looking at the 4g indicator while on the call.
The concern is when T-Mobile discontinues 3g next month then you will not be able to make phone calls.
If you dont mind you might take a look as you make a call and see if it stays on 4g.
I understand. I, with 4 LG phones on Tmobile, am in the same boat with a lot of people. And I have purchased more LG phones- 3 V40 , 1 G7 and 3 Q7+ before I learned about the network transition.
Tmobile did a piss poor job in explaining the 3G shutdown.
Today is 4/1, with my Sprint-unlocked LG G8X, I can make a call and the LTE indicator stayed on.
This is what Tmobile has announced.
As of March 31, 2022, Sprint’s older 3G (CDMA) network will be retired
As of June 30, 2022, Sprint’s LTE network will be retired
As of July 1, 2022, T-Mobile’s older 3G UMTS network will be retired
Also Tmobile has delayed Sprint 3G shutdown until May 30.
Downloaded app and enabled, but all my buttons are still greyed out and it definitely still goes to 3g during a call? Not sure why it is not working on my phone?
It has something to do with the combination of native ROM, TMobile or Sprint SIM card in use, provisioning of VoLTE, and the (T-Mobile) LTE channels supported in your phone. I have not figured everything out yet.
It will be a rough ride for me until July 1 when the transition is over.
Forget what I've posted. I f'ked up. I mixed up 2 models.
I just received a T-Mobile email telling me my daily driver G850UM does not have the Volte turned on.
I looked up Phone Info and found Volte Provisioned switch is off and grayed out. When I wrote the post on March 31 the Volte Provisioned switch was on but grayed out.
I swap SIm card to the G850QM phone, and the Volte Provisioned switch is visible and in ON position. Look like I need to switch phone near term. And then find a way to cross flash QM firmware onto UM model. Need research. Fvk T-Mobile and the other two for doing their fake 5G rollout.
Thank you Buontinh. Got Volte, WiFi calling and video calling on my LG G7X G850UM on 20P software.
Uploaded the modded abl_a to both _a and _b. Insert an active T-Mobile SIM card, got new TMobile bootup logo. Got the wifi-calling switch. Got into Phone Info and saw votle Provisioned, WiFi calling provisioned, and video calling provisioned. Grayed out however. I made a call to my landline and the 4G LTE light stayed on. I guess it is working.
Still on Android 10 however.
The most difficult part was to get the phone on EDL mode. Must have tried 20 times before getting the "dark screen" EDL mode, only to learn that a Qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 driver was needed too.
So I followed the below directions from reddit and it worked great on my velvet. I did the same thing on my LG g8x with *#546368#*850# code and I now have Volte, however phone still drops to 3g when it makes a call any thoughts on how to fix that?
There is a way to force enable VoLTE on the "LG Velvet 4G Dual Sim" specifically your version which is the "LM-G910EMW".
By default the feature is disabled on this model variant for who knows why.
Follow the steps below: 1. Click on the "Phone" app and dial "##4636##" -If done correctly it'll automatically bring you to the "testing" settings menu.
Click on "Phone Information" -you should see a list of VoLTE settings however by default they are disabled and greyed out but don't worry there's a way to reactivate VoLTE. (You Will Come Back to this Menu later)
Go to your file app and create a file named "enable_ue" -thats all you need to do just create the file, nothing more nothing less.
Go back to the "Phone" App and dial "#*462633*#910#" -This code is specific to the variant and will not work on other non LM-G910EMW Phones. Dialing this should bring up the "Hidden LG Menu"
Select Field Test>Universal Enabler>Create New Config -a menu with check boxes for VoLTE options appearing
Select the boxes as follows "VoLTE" "ViLTE" "VoWifi" "ViWifi" And finally hit "Confirm" -a prompt will appear stating "Vo Services Updated"
Immediately restart your phone to allow the settings to kick in
After your phone has restarted go into your Settings>Network & Internet>Mobile Networks -If done correctly the VoLTE option will now be unlocked and available.
Switch on the "VoLTE"
Now to double check that your phone now truly has VoLTE enabled, repeat steps 1-2. If done correctly the menu should now say "VoLTE Provisioned Video Calling Provisioned Wifi Calling Provisioned " -if these 3 are all switched on then you have successfully force enabled VoLTE on your LG Velvet 4G Dual Sim LM-G910EMW, congratulations!

Does anyone have a link for the latest EE firmware?
Devtester shows one released on 27-07-16 but doesn't have any downloads.
If your network is EE UK and you didn't buy your phone direct from EE, flashing this software enables nice things like Wifi Calling, VoLTE and 800Mhz 4G

Just checked, no update available on my EE H850.
I bought this EU variant of H850 from Taobao.com, an e-commerce web in China and the homepage of Chrome is set to m.ee.co.uk by default. I guess this proves that my H850 is an EE UK version. I just checked Settings->About Phone->Updater Center->Software Update->Check Now for Update and got the reply that "You are using the latest software version for current OS." Is it because I didn't get this phone directly from EE UK?
By the way, this is the first post on my first day using XDA as a registered member.

Thank you for the suggestion. I read this forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/how-to/tuto-update-h850-v10c-to-v10d-rooted-t3417348/page1 and found it troublesome to update to 10d with LG UP. I will just wait for flashable zips or CM Roms.
Besides, I'm staying in Kazakhstan for now, where there is no 4G network, yet. And the WiFi at my place is lousy. So none of the WiFi calling, VoLTE or another 4G band feature seems appealing.

Not sure you need an EE version of firmware. I bought mine from 3rd party and I believe it's generic firmware.
Build number MMB29M
Software version V10c234-30
Model LG-H850
Just turned Wifi calling on. 2 minutes later text message arrives and now I have the telephone handset icon with mini wifi logo on it in the top bar. Tried a call and it works.
If you want me to check anything else to confirm version just quote me back so I get notified
Update! I made a call it worked fine, received a call it answered but no audio. Then it turned off

I've done more testing. I had Airplane mode on and reactivated Wifi. That showed the Wifi Calling icon in status bar. I called my work line and it worked fine, then called my phone back and worked fine. Have received and made a few calls this afternoon with just Wifi and it's been great.
To set it up the EE articles state be on wifi, go to Settings - Networks - Call - Wi-Fi Calling - turn it on. I received a text a few minutes later saying I was setup. That's all I've done.

So, I have an unbranded unlocked N8 I bought from Best-Buy assigned to my VZW account that was missing the "Advanced Calling" menu in settings. My wife's branded VZW S8+ has this menu. I tried the guides for other carriers to unlock WifI and HD calling, but alas, none of them worked. (I did however get the camcorder in the phone dial pad, but it didn't do anything) *******Still working on WifI calling**********
I spent hours testing settings in the IMS config via the shortcut app, all with no luck.
TIP: I called big red (VZW) on the phone and told them I bought the phone from bestbuy (didn't mention it was the non carrier unlocked version) and that WifI and HD calling menu wasn't on my phone. She told me my IMS wasn't configured on their end and she would update it. (This did not affect my grandfathered unlimited data plan)
Steps:
1. Call VZW and tell them you dont have access to HD voice on your phone and need help.
2. They will update the IMS on their end.
3. Turn off WifI, turn on mobile data.
4. Reboot and profit.
Ive uploaded a SS of the new option which wasn't there before I called VZW.
*****WARNING****** I seem to have lost the ability in the shortcut app to access the IMS launcher settings. Not sure if the 83mb update I took today caused it or not. Just warning you. I can still get into WifI calling via the app, however, it still crashes every time I get into it.
(Yes I know I shouldn't have taken any updates while we wait on eng. code to be released. Oh well I guess. )

Nope; works out of the box with Sprint & T-Mobile; haven't tested my AT&T SIM
You can get into IMS Settings by using Nova Activity launcher; under DEBUG INFO > IMS Information all should be true; if not VoLTE isn't enabled on the account or provisioning isn't completed; this can be done with a simple reboot.
Also; IMS Service Switch, make sure VoLTE Video is on for video calling; if/when VZW uses universal RCS profile you will have access to "iMessage" like features which Sprint/T-Mobile can currently use.
The Sad thing is total wireless morons have no clue what an ims is...

Thanks for the guide. Unfortunately after recent official Oreo software update, can't get into IMS Settings using either Nova Activity Launcher/Shortcut maker or through any other app.
Is there any way to enable "IMS Service Switch" thereafter enable VoLTE so that VoLTE option would appear under Settings->Mobile Networks?
Please suggest.
Thanks.
Hey everyone
I have the Canadian variant of the LG G5 (the H831) and I have no LTE option in network mode.
I bought this phone from WIND Mobile (now Freedom Mobile) and it seems like they Disabled the LTE functionality for some reason.
I was wondering if there is a way to enabled it?
I inserted my SIM in my friends phone (same model but with Rogers Wireless) and the phone downloaded the APN settings from Freedom Mobile.
That did not work at all and the phone was stuck on 3G just like my phone.
I heard if I install the firmware from another provider, it might work. However it seems the APN settings from my provider are causing the LTE option to disappear from network mode.
Lastly, I accessed the service menu by dialing a code in the dialer and I was able to enable LTE.
However, I was not able to make and receive phone calls.
Did anyone here have success enabling LTE with this model or similar?
suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Hi everyone, I bought an Lg V60 ThinQ 5G UW, put my Mintmobile card and everything works as expected but during calls no mobile internet, it just disappears. Let me know if anything can be done to fix this. Thanks
Same problem here in Germany with Telekom - the V60 isn't supported by carrier for voice over LTE, so when you start a phone call the phone drops LTE to connect to GSM/2G for calling.
I suppose there is nothing that can be done.
If you go to the hidden menu, do you have wifi calling enabled, set to 1, or on?
Hidden menu: *#546368#*600#
If it is on, turn it off.
We have a small local carrier in Southeast Oklahoma called Pine Cellular. They roam on ATT. When ATT recently turned off their old networks, it caused problems with roaming for Pine. They told my mother-in-law she needed a new phone with volte so I bought her the Oneplus Nord N200 5g as my son has that phone on T-Mobile. Insert her sim card and wifi calling and volte still don't work. Insert my T-Mobile sim and they work fine.
I took the phone to a Pine store and they lady even put in her personal sim which had allowed her to roam in Dallas (so volte was enabled) and it still wouldn't allow volte or wifi calling. She said Pine was in the process of updating their systems but she had no idea when it would start to work. They sold my father-in-law a cheap Alcatel and it works fine. I had been convinced it was something to do with the settings on my mother-in-laws sim until the sales rep tried her personal one.
Can anyone tell me what the heck was going on and why the phone wouldn't work on their network? I'm assuming it has something to do with Pine Cellular's internal settings but really WTF?
No one?
This was an unlocked phone bought from Amazon. It worked with the local Pine network, just Wi-Fi calling did not work and VoLTE did not work for roaming, but I could make and receive calls within the Pine Cellular service area. The old Pine Cellular network was GSM.
The Wi-Fi calling menu options appeared when I inserted my T-Mobile sim.
It sounds like you purchased a carrier variant (T-Mobile) version of the N200 (DE2118). Your phone model number is different than the unlocked generic version of the N200 (DE2117). AT&T operates its VoLTE network using whitelists. This means that AT&T will not use VoLTE with any other phone models than the ones they have approved on their list. Since AT&T has "shut down" 3G, phone calls can not be placed on their network without the use of VoLTE.
Only the unlocked generic version DE2117 is on their whitelist, as you can see here:
https://www.att.com/idpassets/images/support/pdf/Devices-Working-on-ATT-Network.pdf
You will not be able to use VoLTE on AT&T with that model of phone.
Wi-Fi Calling is similar to VoLTE, and operates under the same restrictions. (VoIP over Wi-Fi instead of over LTE cellular).
VoLTE is not a true standard. It relies on the implementation of custom VoIP software unique to each carrier and each device. Hence not a standard. The goverments have not forced carriers to standardize 4G like they did 3G, so the carriers have not. AT&T is using this chance to restrict access to their proprietary VoLTE implementation as a weapon to lock down phones to AT&T approved models with locked bootloaders and/or restricted software.
Many phones which support the VoLTE "standard" are not able to operate in VoLTE mode, neither with AT&T nor the other carriers. Even changing the system software on the phone can break these proprietary VoLTE implementations, as I have found personally.
It was the unlocked version. It did work on pine cellular. She could make and recieve calls on the phone network, just not roam because volte could not be enabled.
Amazon.com
In that case, there are many steps to getting VoLTE working roaming on AT&T
1. The SIM card must have proper settings in it, sometimes requiring replacement of the SIM card.
2. IMS software must be installed on your phone (the proprietary VoLTE software made by your carrier). If you are running stock software, this is already done.
3. APN (IMS) settings must be correct. It seems your local carrier is still running 3G, and you do not need VoLTE there yet, so the pine cellular APN can be skipped.
Two APN entries are needed, one for data (carrier) and one for voice (IMS).
One will be named IMS with uniform settings, the other will be named after the carrier, with specific settings.
Settings -> Wi-Fi & Network -> SIM & Network settings -> Access Point Names -> APNs
Uniform IMS settings

SUN Mobile
www.sunmobile.com.hk
The IMS APN is not the active "checked" one, but must be present in order for the voice (VoLTE) network to work on top of the data (LTE) network.
Each carrier has specific values that must be programmed. Sometimes Apple and Google will program these settings through their management controls for the major carriers, otherwise they must be inputted manually.

4. Roaming must be enabled.

5. *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer to bring up the testing menu, then the phone information setting, then the set preferred network type drop down. Set to a list that includes LTE. (I seem to have to have 3G options allowed, which connect and then transition to 4G VoLTE)
6. VoLTE must be turned on in settings -> Wi-Fi & Network -> SIM & Network settings -> VoLTE -> use VoLTE.
*#*#4636#*#* to check for "VoLTE Provisioned".
7. It can take up to 15 minutes for VoLTE to register with the network in order to place and receive calls.

Settings -> Wi-Fi & Network -> SIM & Network settings -> Access Point Names -> APNs

This will include another APN for AT&T roaming use.

Thank you so much for writing all that out. i bet it's the APN settings. There was only the one for pine and putting the sim in another pine cellular phone had it working. I'm going to try one more time before I send it back. I'm not very confident that pine customer service knows that they are doing at this point.

I guess I'm going to send this phone back and buy something from Pine. Bought a new SIM card from them this morning and it still doesn't work. I now have data roaming on ATT but still no VoLTE or WIFI calling.
The Pine rep I talked to this morning was much better than the previous one and she said she had experienced this previously with a clients new phone. Pine was "old school" with some of their internal system.
I did notice they aren't selling any 5g phones yet so it's possible it's something with this being a 5G phone or maybe Android 11.
