remote: 'root type is risk' - Huawei P20 Lite Questions & Answers

Usually, when you relock the bootloader, you type in the command to relock it, with the bl unlock code, and boom it relocks it and wipes system with no issue.
With my device, it doesn't do that. It instead, spits out an error message saying "remote: 'root type is risk'".
I have gone into eRecovery, and downloaded latest version and recovery.
I have also tried to use the dload method, with no success, with dload telling me that the update failed.
I have flashed recovery and eRecovery stock images extracted from an UPDATE.app I found somewhere.
Would anyone know what is happening??

it's not that simple bro...
The bootloader status will not be lock, but relock. For apps like Google pay, it's like an unlocked bootloader. Only the Service firmware locks BL normally and correctly .
Do not forget that you should not joke with relock procedure. Must be full stock, (your situation is clearly not the same), otherwise you may end up with a nice paperweight.

Unlocking bootloader leads to "status unavailable"

I used flashtool to unlock my bootloader after following the procedure layed out here: http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-unlock-bootloader-on-sony-xperia-m4-aqua/
Specifically I created a new dir under "C:\Users\Admin\.flashTool\registeredDevices" with my device name "SDDSF334343" then inside that dir created an empty file called "ulcode", and inside that file inserted the unlock code I received from Sony (using the M model and my IMEI).
The flashtool did not complain and said "unlock complete" or some such and prompted me to reboot my device. However upon checking at *#*#7378423#*#* it shows "unavailable" for the bootloader unlocked status, and attempting to flash the recovery with "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" gives "writing recovery FAILED <remote: Command not allowed>", so obviously the bootloader isn't really unlocked it seems.
I found this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63328460&postcount=406, with someone who had a similar problem, but I don't understand what he means by remove the "0x"; my ulcode file does not contain this prefix anyway, only the unlock code I got from Sony and pasted in.
Any ideas?
Other info
Android version 5.0. Firmware: 26.1.A.2.167. Model number E2303. I used Flashtool v0.9.19.8 along with the minimal adb fastboot install (although I also tried again with the latest full Studio download, ugh). Flashtool reported success regards to unlocking, and allows me relock and lock again repeatedly etc
I noticed my phone has the "Bootloader unlock allowed: No" (after dialing *#*#7378423#*#*) before I try and unlock with Flashtool. Does this mean it really, genuinely cannot be unlocked, or does it just mean not officially?
Do I need to flash my phone to another version of the stock firmware to get around this problem? If so which version and would it break everytime my phone updated?
(If I understand things correctly, I can flash to another stock ftf even without unlocking the bootloader using Flashtool)
I started with 26.1.A.2.167 then my phone did it's update recently to 26.1.A.3.111. Neither of these firmwares made a difference to the above. Should I just pick a random stock ftf from XperiFirm?
I'm trying to unlock an e2306 that reports "Rooting Status: Bootloader unlock allowed:no"
I follow the same procedure as the OP and the status turns to "Unavailable" but I do not seem to be able to get root access after this. If I repeat the BLU procedure I can re-lock the Bootloader and the status returns to "unlock allowed: no".
Does "unlock allowed: no" really mean no? My understanding of the tutorials I've found is that it doesn't matter. I may also just be missing something.

Your bootloader is inlocked, show Unavailable due to unlocked allowed: NO.
For fix remote failed when trying to flash recovery if you have windows 10 reboot in boot repair and choose disable driver certificate check then flash your recovery using fastboot.
Sorry for reviving an older thread, this is my first post so I hope it ends up being relevant. I am guessing the cause for me is similar since I am having the same problem using windows 7. I don't have a link handy, but i was able to get around it using a thread here on xda. Just search twrp bl locked m4 download the rootkit that matches your firmware and twrp installer file. Hope this is useful to someone.
Did you fix your's?
Mine says Rooting status: Unavailable
I can't flash recovery and img
I get Failed(remote:Command not allowed) in Fastboot
What I did in the first place was I unlocked my m4 aqua e2333 lollipop then root it using fastboot, it was successful then I decided to hard reset mine by deleting the system in recovery(I know I'm so stupid) then I'm stuck in the booting screen so I decided to download the marshmallow version then I took the system and put it in my phone using recovery,of course it didn't work because I'm in lollipop version and the system is from marshmallow then I flashed it using flashtool and it's successfu,l It worked!
But after that I get the Rooting Status:Unavailable
And can't flash anything except Ftf files and my sim 1 slot is not working,if I use both slot both won't work.
I can't find the right stock ftf for e2333 Lollipop(26.1.B.3.109_R6A)
I need the Stock ftf
I want to root and install different roms again
I'm new to Xperia and this is my first Xperia phone ever
Please help asap
Ps. At first it's Rooting Status: bootloader unlocked yes
I activated My Xperia
I think My Xperia is the problem
I read it somewhere here the when you unlocked you bootloader and activated My Xperia....I can't remember...
Is there's a way I can remove My Xperia in an ftf file?

Re-Locking Mate 10 Pro Soft Brick

I'm attempting to reset my Mate 10 Pro completely to stock and I successfully unrooted the phone but then when I attempt to relock the phone using "fastboot oem relock [unlock code]" it sends me to the relock screen, and I select relock. From there it goes through the factory reset and relocking process and when it's done, it says that it successfully relocked the device. Then it reboots me back to the stock recovery and that's where I'm now stuck. If I hit reboot it reboots back to recovery, and shutting down and using the power button to turn on does the same. Any ideas? I unlocked it AGAIN after this happened and it boots up normally. I tried to use the HWOTA8_Mate10 tool to relock it, and it resulted in the same way as the manual method. Any ideas?

Do you have any modified partitions, twrp?
I would try the repack script in HWOTA8 and select Lock. This will update and then Lock phone rather than Relock.
If the repack script works that is.
You can take a look at the script and see what it does. I think it just adds the lock function to updater-script.
Else I guess you could just do a full update, then relock.

I do have twrp, I tried to flash stock recovery but I'm getting "partition length get error". I'm trying to use the repack script but it says I need update_data_public.zip, which I can't seem to find. I do have update.zip though.
Edit: I should probably also add that the model I'm using is BLA-A09
Edit 2: Dug deeper and found how to get the remaining 2 zips. I tried to use the tool to update and lock but it gives me "Unable to patch file or file already patched! Code: 1"

Well, are you flashing stock recovery to recovery_ramdisk?
E.g. fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdisk.img
HWOTA is outdated, while it shouldn't need to patch it will fail because the things it tries to patch have changed.
But try just flashing back stock recovery and then relock.

I tried flashing that file to recovery_ramdisk and relocked and got the same issue again
I messed around some more and still unsuccessful. I can successfully flash the stock recovery (when I used adb reboot recovery it takes me to the stock recovery instead of TWRP) but I'm still unable to get out of the recovery screen when I relock the phone. I tried to use the tool (even thought you said it was outdated I gave it a shot) and use "replace_recovery" but that still didn't work. Also I should note that on my fastboot screen it says my FRP is unlocked, not sure if that has any effect though.

Flash FullOTA to your current firmware using either HWOTA or HuRUpdater (from TWRP, do not keep twrp after).
Then try relock after that.

Relocking Bootloader

Hi guys,
I got a bootloader unlocked ANE-LX2J and I want to lock it again but I dont know the next step.
I still have the bootloader unlock code and already flashed FULL OTA using TWRP and did factory reset.
So now, my P20 Lite is running pure stock again and ready to be locked right? or still not lol :silly:
Based on what I read here, after relocking bootloader using fastboot oem relock command, the warning/alert that shows when the device is booting is still there and I want to get rid of it.
Thanks :highfive:

Yes, you're ok to relock your bootloader if all partition and recovery are stock and your device is working without issues. After relock the recovery will do Factory Data Reset and no more warnings "your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted"
Boot into Fastboot&Rescue Mode and use this command:
Code:
fastboot oem relock [I][B]yourcode[/B][/I]
Then you enter into Lock Bootloader menu and just follow the instructions.
YES -
NO -

Are you using phone with working sim, or without? Why I ask about sim? If not working sim card, then a lot phones will not give OEM unlock option, once it was for me with Sony phone, after I inserted sim needet to wait weak and only then OEM unlock option was accessable.
What are your phone full model ? Like, ane-lx1c432b166

ok, didnt give full ph0ne model, dont need, can go and find all you need yourself : from this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...om-official-emui-8-0-huawei-p20-lite-t3773999
7. dload package
In this site you can search for firmware by Huawei P20 Lite or directly by your device oem name (ANNE-L01, ANNE-L03, ANNE-L21, ANNE-L22, ANNE-L23, etc...
http://androidhost.ru/search.html
Download the firmware that match with your device and unzip.
Under folder Software you will found the folder dload, copy this folder to sdcard.
Under folder ReleaseDoc you will find a Software Upgrade Guideline.docx, read it.
User data will be wiped.
Update is done with stock recovery
If your Bootloader is currently unlocked at the end it will be changed to lock state.
i gues you have your bootloader code, you can even use older package, adn reset your phone using this dload method!!

Hallo again,
Ok so for the stock recovery you can download it on the thread by ciubi93, on this link https://mega.nz/#!SR9RzKST!dhXS0yC-p_SvWu-SYYLaop1aRFzSulLVrnSXCVVJiGI after you download this, download the fastboot adb tools - here's a link of the xda for that https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/ after you did that guide from xda, copy the stock recovery into that folder and then press shift+right click of your mouse on the folder and select "open powershell window here (in case of windows 10) or in case of windows 7 (open command prompt window here)" , if you have a power shell window then power off your device then press power ON + volume down and type on the window ".\fastboot flash recovery recovery_ramdisk.img ", after this you have your stock recovery successfully reset and you can now flash the official dload package, try it via power ON + Volume down + Volume up at the same time until the huawei logo disappears and then you release.
I really hope this helps cause I tried this a lot on mine.
Cheers,

Hi there
Yeah I forgot you have FRP locked....My bad....Anyway, can you tell me the current build you have and the one you want to install? Example: C17 8.0.0.140
Because if you try to install a different firmware which is not from your country you need to change your oem info first.

Also if you had it unlocked I assume you have the unlock code with you, in that case try this first:
Relock the bootloader using fastboot command "fastboot oem relock *codehere* " this will erase all DATA, it will do an hard reset, be sure to backup first!
After that, you can unlock the bootloader again via fastboot command "fastboot oem unlock *codehere*" and then it will unlock both bootloader and FRP

Hm, if I'm correct, you can't unlock bootloader, if frp are locked, frp will be unlocked, when you allow OEM unlock under developer options.
Only thing there can do, connect with mofuz ROM developer to help return to stock, otherwise our suggestions will not work, because all I know is for stock emui.
But yeah, with right phone build number he shulda be able to return to stock with no problem, so, does he know what was stock emui build he had before started to play with phone..??!!
And, can download all dload packages and try them all, no harm if it fails, but maybe some will reflash system as it should be

You can't unlock FRP when you have the booloader unlocked yes I know, but what I said is for him to relock first and then unlock it again Once he unlocks again the FRP will become unlocked, I looked into this thread for that and they also confirmed it works here's the proof if you have doughts quoting @clsA "FRP Lock occurs when the phone has a firmware mismatch and or oem unlocking is not on in developer options":

That's interesting. So all your data was wiped when you used the hstool?
Someone else said flashing firmware via dload method also relocks the bootloader.
hmm i'm not sure.
I'll explain the whole situation.
I had just unlocked the bootloader and installed magisk.
after installing magisk, I installed a few modules, one of which made my phone bootloop.
I managed to get back into fastboot mode, use hstool to select my firmware (224) along with the patched hisuite from funkyhuawei.
after my phone recovered, it seems to have been completely reset and locked.
*edit*
I guess I should also add, I've never installed TWRP on this phone, only patched the recovery_ramdis.img for Magisk

after my phone recovered, it seems to have been completely reset and locked.
*edit*
I guess I should also add, I've never installed TWRP on this phone, only patched the recovery_ramdis.img for Magisk

After locking, can you use the same code to unlock it again ?

Yes
ok just an update, while mucking around I accidentally softbricked my phone.
I used the external usb method (where you update using the code *#*#2846579#*#*) and it 100% relock the phone.
*edit*
and yes, the same code works to unlock it again. KEEP THE CODE SAFE!

You need an external usb-c drive with some firmware on it.
I initially used v187 from this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-20-pro/how-to/firmware-update-187-brings-oem-unlock-t3897301
Since then I downloaded a v206 which works over USB but I cannot recall where I got it from.
Note that you will loose all user data since the phone will be fully wiped.
Also this method requires a phone that is working, as in able to boot and access the dialer and menus.
If I find out where I got the v206 I will post it here as well.
I should also add, maybe it might work with a memory card as well... But this method requires an external source for the firmware since it formats the entire phone
@ xeroxide Thx for your help.
I Try this at the weekend.
If you need to relock your bootloader, this is the process:
Using eRecovery, restore your phone to stock
Once done, boot into recovery and RESET your phone (if you dont, it will not allow you to lock the bootloader)
Boot into fastboot mode (Holding Vol-DOWN, plug in usb cable) , and run the command
fastboot oem relock < bootloader unlock code>
the phone should now ask you that it will wipe your device, confirm,
Enjoy locked phone!
