Unlock bootloader without official LG Developer Website - LG V30 Questions & Answers

So today I wanted to unlock the bootloader of my LG V30 (European h930 model) to install a custom ROM, but I quickly noticed that I was exactly 116 days too late and the website for unlocking had been discontinued last year. Now I am searching for another way of unlocking my bootloader, does anyone know if there is one?

Look at the WTF thread, post 193 here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ar-instructions.3790500/page-10#post-76584629

[Help] Unlock bootloader in L9 P769

Hello, I know there are tutorials about unlocking the bootloader, but in the case of the P769, is the most difficult of all, so give you some data to see that tutorial or steps should I take to unlock it without problems:
- L9 P760 T-Mobile, 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, V20H (and says that according to LG software, already has the latest version), root and recovery (CWM)
As I said, I have seen many tutorials, but too confusing, and according to what I read, the V20H is an open verison, and not if I can skip the process of installing the kdz V20B (which looks to open the bootloader)
Please I need to unlock the bootloader, confirming what I want most of all if you need to install v20b kdz or not? or at least a simple tutorial for unlocking, thanks.

I hate to bust your bubble but if your P769 ( USA T-Mobile ) was made after March 2013, if memory serves, the bootloader is NOT unlockable. I think the MetroPCS P769 can be unlocked however but don't quote me on that. The only way, if at all possible, is the lengthy process you've already mentioned. For the P769, there is no such thing as a simple tutorial for unlocking the bootloader. Most of the P769 users, myself included, have moved on to other devices because of the inability to unlock the bootloader.
I should also mention that there are tons of threads related to this. Research and XDA's search feature are your friends. XDA prefers it's members to search and search again before creating redundant or duplicate threads.

I understand, I just like to confirm that with the long method (install v20b kdz , wait 30 minutes-1 hour, use the commands in ABD) chance of unlocking the bootloader? O is permanently blocked?
And if it is impossible to unlock, Even I can install roms for phones with locked bootloader?
Now I have understood that it is difficult to unlock in this model, but at least I want to know if there is even a possibility. Thank you

Yes you can flash ROMs for locked bootloaders assuming you have 2nd-init recovery installed.
The chances of unlocking your bootloader are extremely slim at best.

G5 SE H840 Rooting

LG G5 SE
Hey guys so i have the G5 Se, its stock, Voda uk branded, Running Nougat, i found a link on here to update it to Nougat from MM, unofficial of course, but its on Nougat, and i only have this 1 question -
1 - Can i root this phone yet, ive not unlocked the bootloader because of DRM reasons like The Sonys i know DRM will be lost forever, so ive stayed stock, but i would like to Root and use stock roms and want to know if this is possible and how to do it, i would unlock the bootloader if there was a way to backup DRM and restore it like ya can on the Xperias.
Does anybody have any info on this as yet as i am struggling to find any info all together that relates to the H840.

No it is currently not possible and most likely never will be, you cannot unlock the bootloader and you cannot gain root access.
Currently the only way you're getting root is by selling your phone now before it loses anymore value and purchasing one with an unlockable bootloader.
Bootloader cant be unlocked???
Really, because im sure i read somewhere that it could be and that LG themselves now officially had provided an unlocking method/
Oh well thats a shame.
But surely root is still achieveable even without unlock bootloader, i dont want to install custom roms or kernels, i just want root access for some apps that ask for it, has anyone actually tried the Kingo method, i dont believe for a minute that it will never be sorted,, i had HTC phones for a long time with similar bootloader issues, but they always found a way around it in the end on XDA, granted it took a while, but i think itll be sorted at some point, especially as the official unlock tool is now supporting the G5, i dont think itll be long for support for the SE to be added to it.
Thanks anyway people.
Hello here is the official list of LG:
Supported Devices
The following devices will support unlocking the bootloader:
• LG V20: US996.USA for the U.S. open market
• LG V10: H960A for the European market and Android M (Except France)
• LG G5: H850 for the European market
• LG G4: H815 for the European market
*
Unlocking the Bootloader
But in fact some models not listed in the list have been unlocked like the H830.
I have an H860N and I am in the same case as you, I wait for a developer to look into the subject ....

Has anyone tried it anyway with the H840, im gonna have a go at rooting today, i know most phones can be rooted with the methods now avail regardless of bootloader, bootloader is only really to stop firmware modifications, i will report back the results, worst case scenario ill just re-install stock rom if it goes wrong.
Im just wondering if anyone has attempted the H840 unlock?, and wether it bricked the phone or not trying it/
AND the ENABLEOEMUNLOCK tab is available in my developer options, one would assume if it wasnt unlockable then that option just would not be in the settings anyway.
I tried on my G5 H860N it didnt work ....
The idea of a gift, might be a solution for developers to look at the issue

how to: unlock LG v30+ H930DS ?

hello,
I received today my new lg v30 + H930DS and I would like to know how to unlock the bootloader install TWRP ... because I find solutions for the H930G version but nothing for the H930DS
Sorry, it's not on the LG Developer Bootloader Unlock list.
http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev?categoryId=CTULRS0703
Either needs to be on the official LG unlock list or someone needs to find a bootloader unlock exploit.

not yet mate.. we're on the same boat here
just wait patiently and hope for the best :fingers-crossed:
it is most likely never possible to unlock the bootloader of H930DS ? and it will never be on the LG list as suitable for unlocking the bootloader.
Why will LG do so? for a market is possible , and for others not?

Yes. There are variants that will never be possible. At least that has happened with the G6.
I did not buy the DualSim just for not having root... and I use 2 numbers :'(
Fellow Aussie here,
Same here peeps. Nothing yet. Sent an email off to LG in Australia, as well as LG Devs asking why it's not on the list. HOPEFULLY I'll get a response soon.

Should I avoid updating before bootloader unlock/root?

Very happy with my new V30 (H930), and looking forward to rooting it. I don't want to unlock the bootloader until I've had it a few weeks, so was wondering: is there any risk from upgrading the stock OS, that it will become harder to root and to install custom ROMs in the future, or to do any other kind of mod? (I know bootloader unlock will still be possible through the LG website.) Specifically, I now have 10f-222-01, and am now being offered 10g, and I expect it will then ask me to upgrade all the way to Oreo (don't know the version code for that).
Couldn't find any definitive info on this, but I have heard of advice for other phones that upgrading will make things harder or impossible due to encryption/partition changes, and vulnerability fixes etc. so I'm asking just in case.
Thanks

Yes. For H930, don't upgrade past Oreo 20D or 20R, until you unlock your bootloader. Right now you can manually flash the version you want with full image KDZ, which is superior to partial image OTA anytime.

While the official website lets you unlock bootloader no matter the version -- IF you have one of the approved models -- you have to waive your warranty. I did that with one of my open market LG US998 V30.
With the WTF bootloader unlock exploit you are not agreeing to waive the warranty. The WTF bootloader unlock exploit is also much easier and faster than the official method. It works on Oreo but starting with firmware which has July 2018 security update, the exploit is patched.
Simple answer is to not yet go beyond H930 20R. You can downgrade back to previous firmware (unless LG also blocks that), but why risk that BEFORE bootloader unlock and root?
After bootloader unlock, you can then update to latest firmware and still keep unlocked bootloader.
And we've talked about this SEVERAL times in Frankenstein thread, the WTF bootloader unlock thread, and I posted it at the top of the H939 Oreo KDZ and US998 Oreo KDZ and H939DS Oreo KDZ threads...

If you want to maintain the ability to root then avoid downloading any newer firmware versions than 20B(March 1st Security Update). You can use the LGUP software to flash kdz files containing the updates for your phone. It's best you update manually from Nougat to Oreo with kdz files rather than risk downloading the newest update that will likely fix the bootloader exploit. If you want to root your phone then you might as well go ahead; backup your data and do it.

Yes, you will be able to unlock the bootloader on your V30S, in fact, I own a rooted one. You would have the official unlock, however LG doesn't always honor their promise of providing unlocks for all US carrier-open phones.
Your phone will be practically the same phone as an ordinary V30, you'll be able to normally flash any rom - be careful of flashing non-stock ones however(strong likelihood to bootloop). No roms need to be specifically for the V30S. You just have an updated version of the same V30 firmware. I have the same exact phone as you.
