Can you root Huawei Devices? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I seen that rooting gives you more acces to your phone and a lot of things, my device is a P30 Lite MAR-LX1A and as I saw you need to unlock the bootloader to root it. My device is working perfectly fine but I have some small isues about it, so shortly, I'm asking for help if anyone knows about it, if I can root it I just want a short tutorial on how to do it and the correct links I have to get because there are a lot of indians on youtube there and I don't trust them.

Follow this DC-Unlocker guide. Remember to click the link with instructions on how to put the device to test point mode! This is the only way I know how to do it.
Remember that DC-UNLOCKER is a paid service!

This is how to unlock the bootloader. Because you are on Android 10, the bootloader might re-lock so it's recommended to downgrade to Android 9.

Download the firmware from here. It should match your device. If you have a spare micro SD card it's the easiest way to install the firmware. If that's not an option for you, there are other ways mentioned in that same article that will downgrade the firmware, too.

Samsung smg611MT Bootloader, Twrp and magisk root

HI I'm from Brazil, I buy a samsung sm g611 MT yesterday and after I tried to put the bootloader in the ON mode, I came across only with "usb debug" options, but no longer "bootloader" option, I researched in google, youtube, and nothing solve my problem they said this option appears in some time and its necessary wait 7 days without turn de phone off,
so I've been thinking , would be possible to discconect from internet, and use some app like cheat engine who BE ABLE to "change the time" and bypass the 7 days ? with HEX ...
So if possible then we don't need no longer wait 7 days more , to "bootloader" option pop up..
As I see in this post I belive its necessary install this ".zip" to block the "reactivation" of RMM right? this ".zip" works fine in android 8, september patch?
and this RMM really activate by himself?
-if yes people who install root and other will brick their phones because rmm will lock phone with root installed , so its would be super necessary the installation of .zip file
is that true?
Its hard survive without root nowadays

Dude I've been using root for 2 months and yeah there is root for this phone
Actually I had to back the phone to Android 7.1 and it's working pretty well only one more thing, my friends already have root for Android 8.0 but I'm happy here with this Android 7.1 I created my first v
additional information: someone who already unlock this bootloader , could put the files here ? to install twrp, and magisk root , it would be really nice, and I'll be grateful
It seems you have learned english with Tim Explica isn't it?
Alright, let's check the facts. No one has compiled TWRP for our phone and we're not gonna have root either.

Alright, I think there is some trick to make this work. However I couldn't manage to the custom recovery because the system replaces with the original stock recovery. I'm not mad at all, but I will try again.

How can I downgrade my Android 8.0 to 7.0? (Mate 10 lite)

Hey,
Altough I bet there are hunderds of threads like this, I decided to create another one
So because I have my mate 10 lite around 2 years (a bit less), I would like to get an upgrade. Sadly I won't get Android Pie officially, so I'd like to install a custom ROM.
To do that I need an unlocked bootloader which dc-unlocker is only able to do below Android 8.0.
So I would have to downgrade my Android 8.0 (Btw, EMUI is also 8.0) to Nougat 7.0.
The method through HiSuite didn't worked since it just says "Newest Developer Version installed", but nothing with "Switch to other versions".
Also through Firmeware Finder (Playstore App) it doesn't show me the option "In-App Proxy", so I guess it doesn't work either with that.
Is there another way to do, if so I would really appreciate any help
Thanks in advance
My Mate 8 also keeps on Android 8.0, without any update to Android Pie officially.
If the official utility, HiSuite, which is developed by Huawei doesn't work, we maybe have no way to downgrade the system software on Mate 10 or Mate 8.

It all depends on your current build version. If I remember correctly the ability to use DC was patched in most custs in May or June. So if your security date is prior to May you can still use DC. If not you're out of luck. You can use testpoint to flash board software and then get unlock code through there, but it requires you to remove the back of your phone which will break IP rating and void warranty (If it's still under warranty)

Downgrade from Android 10 to Pie possible?

Hi
I've ordered an A10 for my wife. If it comes pre-installed with Android 10, can I downgrade it to Pie so I can install a GSI rom from @phhusson?
TIA
If they are the same bootloader version, you can. If not, you can't. If you don't know how to tell what bootloader version you are, I suggest you use Google.

Thanks for the quick reply but now you've really confused me! If the phone arrives with Android 10 on it what am I comparing against? And if it comes with 9, is there any way to check the bootloader version of the 10 upgrade before I install it (don't want to be stuck on a version I cannot root <g>)
I haven't had a Samsung for over 10 years (S2 - fabulous phone) so I'm a bit out of date. Is the bootloader version still the 5th character from the right in the baseband number?
TIA

Well, first of all I don't know if Android 9 is available for your phone or not lol I don't have the device. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. I suggest looking at sites like Sammobile to see if there is Pie for your phone
And second, yes that's how you can tell the bootloader version on Samsung phones still
Thanks @ShaDisNX255
Good news - it came with Pie not 10 and the bootloader is v3 so I should be good to go

Any InDepth test version can be use on RM 7 Pro , also Magisk root simplify methods

Hello ,
I Root some of my Xiaomi more or less knowing the procedures.
I may purchase REALME 7 Pro & if the very first step unlock bootloader using Indepth test apk., can use on this model ? not necessary a must match version of Indepth text apk ?
also, is Readme OS accept Magisk root by patching the boot.img without using TWRP ?
( similar procedures as ROOTING on Xiaomi devices ...taking out boot.img from formware ....using Magisk to patch image...... flash it back & forth between devices & computer...without using TWRP. )
Thank you very much.

Hey I wouldn't suggest rooting or unlocking bootloader even if it is simple as ABC because this device is going to get updates for sure so it wouldn't be wise yet.

You get the point !!
Unfortunately , I M-U-S-T root this as I'm required to use TASKER heavily due to my work ( and my own interest in tasker )
On Xiaomi devices they are an easy life since I've been following every firmware updates , then I download separately this firmware on my desktop, root this back by MAGISK_PATCH_BOOT.img ( sort of like you know what I mean )
There is no need no hassle to make Xiaomi root again after the firmware updates. Most importantly Xiaomi not require to re-install all apps by using above methods after firmware updates.
I hope this realme 7 pro using the same procedures. ( I just have made the purchase from India to DHL me at USD375.00 )
Thanks!

Realme 7 pro, will get official bootloader unlock tool and official kernel sources available(hopefully) in the coming, so no need to take risk just wait for it, realme is a tech enthusiast brand so I guess they won't disappoint

If you are really impatient you can try to gain temporary root and extract the boot.img using any app or ADB commands even magisk root via ADB is possible afaik I myself am waiting for the kernel and bootloader unlock but I feel this phone was launched in an early state to compete against Xiaomi phones in the same price range. Now unfortunately for us consumers this means till Android 11 update kernel sources might not be public but most probably after that it might be possible and if you use root for YouTube vanced and stuff I think there is a non root method but it's very irritating.

Thank you !!
I use TASKER and you now know which is why I need to damn deeptest.apk
temporary root is somewhat a good idea however is not fit in my case since my realme 7 pro bought over e-bay India so that anything brick I seems have big trouble sending back & forth for repair.
It is still good hints about temporary root as I never heard of ................
Hope I'm not soon to say goodbye & sell it due to long time waiting and without root. ., it happened on me once on the Vivo 19 that I sold it when I confirm it definately not root-friendly.
Thank you very much !!!!

Any update on unlocking bootloader ?
I have already unlocked the bootloader. But we will have to wait till kernel source code is released for custom recovery and rooting.

[Solved] Unable to unlock bootloader with ANE-LX1

Hello, i've just got a Huawei P20 Lite ANE-LX1 with EMUI 9.1.0.381 from a friend. It's my first Huawei and since i am usually running my phones with custom roms, i want to install a custom rom to it. Usually i am trying to get phones that have a reasonable unlock process but this was a gift and i thought it should be possible to install something anyways.
After spending hours into this and reading allot of posts on this forum, i am not eager to open up the hardware and go this potatoe way. I've watches some Youtube videos about the process and i am not sure, if i can manage to get the phone back together. So i was trying the other way with downgrading EMUI to 8 using dload method in order to run dc-unlocker. But somehow i am unable to do so. I am always ending up with "incompatibility with current version" error. I've tried using the dailer code menu, as well as the 3 buttons method. It's not working at all. I've tried multiple versions from androidhost.ru for this phone. There were no options to downgrade to any prior version using HiSuite as well.
Can someone help me to unlock the bootloader for my phone?

If the rollback option is not available with your HiSuite ("switch to the older version" or "Earlier version"), you must downgrade to the lower EMUI 9 build version number doing the dload method (flashing Service ROM ). What is your region? (Cxxx in build number).
Btw, it's impossible to downgrade to the lower EMUI version via dload method.
Hello, thanks for your reply. My current build number is C432E7R1P7. I think i figured that i should use C432 versions but i haven't thought about using another 9.x version and instead go straight to 8.x. Is any lower 9.x version ok?

On EMUI 8 (in order to run dc-unlocker) you need downgrade to .126:

With .126 you should be able to use dc or hcu-client .
Thanks, you've helped me allot! I've got it working and have the bootloader unlocked. Going forward, i was reading your LOS 17/18 thread. I could add a comment there but since we are writing here now, i am going to ask here:
I am still with EMUI 8. Is it actually needed to install another version of EMUI in order to install LineageOS? Isn't it possible to just install TWRP and go on from there?

LOS/LiR requires emui 9.1. Do not install the latest version, flash 9.1.0.200 via dload.
Finally made it and finished installing LOS. Thanks again for your help. I've marked the thread as solved.
No problem .
