I lost my Pixel 6 in mid january during a skitour in the austrian alps. Luckily the phone had reception so that I could use "find my phone" to locate the approximate position where to look for it 'later' (when the snow is gone). At the point when I lost it, it was almost fully charged and the temperature was about -8° celsius (that's what the online forecast said for this area). So I was surprised that it was reachable for almost 12 hours. I checked "find my phone" multiple times to get as many locations as possible to minimize the area where to start looking for it later. Since the location is quite a bit off the hiking tracks in that area I was quite confident that I'll find it before someone else does. And so I did! After cleaning the charging port with a toothbrush I checked the sim tray if there was any moisture, but it seemed totally dry. I plugged it into the charger and it instantly booted (still showing 16% battery left ). And since about a week it runs flawlessly.
Although the phone started with quite a few software problems, the hardware seems to be alright withstanding very cold temperatures without switching itself off immediately and working fine after beeing burried in snow for four months at ~2200m elevation.

wow lucky you, you managed to skip all those buggy patches from google all this time
Well that is something. Great story.

Hello,
I know, I know... old problem, yet there is still no definite answer to the question of continous random freezes. My HD2 is also experiencing them (worked fine for about 3 months, during which it never fell down whatsoever)
but!!!
I knew from a few days before the first freeze that something was wrong. The bottom of the phone was getting incredibly warm while heavily using the hardware (watching HD vids, browsing web etc.) Me being stupid did not think of it till today. So once again, knowing that my HD2 would freeze, I plugged it in to recharge the battery. This time - enlightened by the thought of old overheating problem - I put it right next to the opened window - it was -1 *C outside. Results? No freeze! Battery fully charged for the first time without a random reset! In my case this is definitely temperature-related problem, it could possibly not be just mine.
The question is: How to lower the temperature? I don't feel like using my phone in a fridge or moving to subpolar areas.
EDIT @28.02
So far my theory is correct. Once I kept the screen on for 10 minutes and was far enough away from the window, the phone restarted itself (and I was not abusing the hardware; I was, in fact, just writing a text message.) Normally it would shut down right after the attempt to load and stabilize the main screen, but since I put it right next to the window at the PIN window, it cooled down and now works fine again.

Maybe it is the battery, you could try an inexpensive replacement one from ebay.
Well, ebay is off the limits for me, but I will surely try some cheaper counterpart. It's been over a week and thus far my theory is proving to be correct - low temperature = no freezes.
The heat might also be caused by lots of stuff running in the background - have you checked this out as well?
Of course I did - Task Manager is one of the 3 apps on the main screen. I always make sure nothing is running, be it an app, or an unnecessary process.
But yes, some of the applications do increase the temperature, however I find that normal... well, as long as the heat does not make my HD2 shut down!
EDIT @ 09.03:
Waiting for a new batt to arrive. I just hope this is just some minor energy output problem and that's why my hd2 is overheating, leading to shutting down.
Got my new battery from a pretty decent company. Normally after turning off the phone and even reattaching the battery I'd have problems turning it on again (would have took me several attempts); however this time it went very smooth.
Any update on use with the new battery? I have the same overheating/screen lock problem with my HD2. Mine has done so after taking a call and having the phone up to my ear for several minutes.
Unfortunately it wasn't the battery. The most common circumstances in which my HD2 freezes is trying to use the internet, followed by playing music from the Sense player. The only thing left to do is to return it.
I declare HTC HD2 and the HTC tech support piece of junk.
Final edit:
Sold my HD2 and bought Desire HD. <3 Android!
Hello all, I am here to see if anyone can break this down for me.
Recently my phone's battery status has been, well, acting weirdly. For instance, let's say the phone says it has 36% left, shut it down, turn it back on, it says it has 24% left, but then a minute later zoom back up to 32%. This got me wondering if it was my battery depleted. The phone it's self is over 1 and a half years old. Possibly 2, so it wouldn't be surprising to see it is depleted.
Even if it isn't depleted, what's with my phone dying in 2-4 hours with Data Connection on? I mean, when it's on Airplane mode it hardly uses any battery at all, minus 5% in 6-8 hours of on-time. But with the mobile data connection on it uses 30-40% in 1 hour. This is strange.
The photo describing my issues above are included. You will notice a huge drop and spike back up, this is where the battery says it is at a high percentage then goes down 5-12% then back up. Before it was only 5%, but as time went on this difference got bigger. Now it's 5-15% of battery lost.
In one instance I have the battery at 17%, then all of a sudden it drops to 11% seconds after taking the 17% screenshot. You can also notice the huge drop in the history. Can someone describe what's happening?

Has the device been dropped or encountered any moisture? Sounds like it could be a Hardware/software problem....but like you said there could be a 50/50 chance that it is the battery Tho......there is replacement batterys you can purchase online and you can dissasemble the phone pretty easily to repair/replace the battery

I've dropped it a few times, but this was on soft terrain (EX: Bed, Pillows, etc.). I only dropped it twice on hard or rough terrain (EX: Kitchen Floor, Sidewalk, etc.) but it had a case on. I dropped it once on the floor of my kitchen and it impacted the right-lower corner of the phone, the case was severely chipped, and there is a noticeable graze (is what I can describe) into the phone where it impacted, when you feel your finger over it, you can feel the damage that happened. It was right under the microphone, but nothing was damaged (the phone was still working fine). The second time for some reason my muscles in my arms said "Nah, taking a break" (when I was giving my phone to my friend) and my hand opened and my phone went flying into the street (still with this hard case on, the same one that was chipped), I picked it up quickly and the back of the case was entirely scratched bad. It also impacted hard on the lower-left side corner of the phone, a chunk of the case broke off. But no damage was done to the exterior of the phone.
If by moisture you mean water (or any liquid), then yes. I have spilled water on it before, but not a lot, just a few drops. This was on the screen though, so I'm not sure if anything "would" happen.

It's more than likely a software issue....kit Kat has bugs and one of them is battery drainage issues...lollipop 5.0.2 is in the integration stage as we speak and isnt far from the certification stage of being released...with the update is gonna bring a lot of enhancements and bug fixes including better battery life....also on kitkat one of the things that's helped me get way better battery life on my m7 is using power saver and only using WiFi and mobile data when needed...and when im making calls and text only I use extreme power saver.....now as far as the issue with the battery changing it's state of charge before and after the device is powered off and on sounds like a hardware or battery defect....it could just be a coincidence but to be safe I'd have a certified repair shop take a look at it and do an evaluation to see what May or May not be wrong with it! If you need any help or have questions please pm me!!!!

Thanks! I sure will do what you said, I'll take it to AT&T's Hardware Department so they can check it out. And Android 5 is coming to the M7?
I've had my LG watch about 14 months and its getting to an unusable point. It used to be fairly snappy with the odd slow down but now its unbelievably slow, about 1/4 of the time when I lift to glance at the time the screen doesn't come on and tapping the display does nothing for a good ~10-15secs. It randomly died in the middle of the day yesterday despite having at least 50% battery, it remained blank no matter what I did until I got home and put it on charge, about 20mins later it indicated 100% and I turned it back on, all fine. Today its been unbearably slow basically impossible to navigate anywhere aside from the watch face, then I noticed it getting quite warm on my wrist, the front and back are both much warmer than I've ever felt it and the battery icon on the watch face just shows a hyphen with no number.
I've removed every non-system app from it and reset it once, any ideas?
Did you do the recent Android Wear update?
My watch has always been consistently 'ok'. However now with the most recent Wear update it runs like a dog. It often doesn't increase charge on the charger. I came here looking for how I can downgrade.

Yes it was after the update to Wear OS 2.0. I reset it a second time and it reverted back to android wear, I then searched for updates and updated it back to wear OS. This seems to have smoothed things out a bit, most of the time its useable, as the battery gets lower (<40%) it starts to have blips of barely functioning and often completely dies around 20-30% so I expect something is wrong with my battery...
It Might be some problem with battery

Well knowing the story of your LG Watch I am upset with the experience you had. Did you check the battery with some repair mechanics? I guess the battery got a short circuit type of problem that leads to warm your watch and also the other problem you identified. It is a bit technical but I would suggest you check the battery, replace it and use the watch if the problem still exists it means some hardware issues.
Its my thinking of course!
Ok I've got a pretty specific issue that just happened yesterday. I left my mi 8 lite on top of my car by accident, when i came out a few hours later I picked it up and saw an overheating message(which is actually strange because the car was well in the shade and it was a high of 70 yesterday). Anyway, after 15 minutes or so I realized i had no lte, so I powered it off for about an hour thinking that maybe letting it "cool down" even though it was even really hot to the touch. No dice, so I pulled the sim out for a few minutes then put it back in. Tried doing some google searches with specific terms and nothing came up. Anyone ever had anything like this happen? I figure I might get a new sim but I'll ask on forums before going to the store. Phone works 100% the way it did before the incident besides the loss of mobile data(calls text ect work)
Heya so it all started about a month ago when my phone would suddenly loose connection to cell tower, the only way to fix it was to reboot the phone, but now since a week or so, i cannot get anymore signal no matter what i do (signal icon next to battery percentage stays at 0 bar and a little x on top left of it), rebooting does not help and even doing a factory reset did nothing, i went to local bell store, one of the seller tried my sim card into his personal phone and it worked. They suggested that i go to a repair store. I did not drop my phone since forever, although it did heat up quite a lot about 3 months ago (charging under a pillow while running a video, it was hot to touch in the morning).
I was wondering if its a common issue or if anyone got an idea whats going on, im thinking itt might be a hardware issue with the transreceiver or whatever its called.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Ok what the hell, it just came back after over a week, rebooted a dozen time but this time it fixed it, for now.
Although with the new work contract i work in an area with very high magnetic field at specific spot (400000 or 600000 amp of power going tru the building), like some hand tool would would hold straight up in the palm of my hand and even my versaflo respirator would go crazy, passed a dozen time in such field with my phone in pocket, maybe that helped?
