Hi All,
Got back to stock from crDroid v7.12 (by using this one, with obviously downloading 7T Pro files ). everything is good but when tried to activate Google Pay - it failed. Safety Net test says "CTS profiles mismatch". Tried to clear Play, Play services, Pay - no result.
Question - do i need to relock bootloader or there is no assurance it helps??
Thanks!
thanks for all your advices...NAAAH!! =))
So maybe it will help someone: I solved it. No matter how i resetted/wiped/re-flashed, Safety Net failed. I ended up installing Oxygen Updater app, downloading latest FULL stable release, installing it, rebooting to Recovery and wiping everyting again. And re-locked bootloader. Ayeah, and i did clean install (i.e. not restoring from backup). Restoring everything manually, but bloody Google pay fully works =))
Maybe only re-lock would have helped, but i was already too pissed off at this point

Apologies but i am out of my depth and need some support. I have a Galaxy S3 and decided to root it as I can't resist looking for useful tweaks. I rooted it fine but only then realised that our good friends at Sky had barred me from using Sky Go. This was more important to me than the tweaks so I followed some web instructions on unrooting. Again, this seems to have been successful as tests and trying to use root apps fail. If I try to re-unroot, I am told that I am not rooted but here's the rub, Sky still says I am rooted!. As a last resort, I decided to do a factory re-set and before loading anything else, load Sky Go to see if the problem was solved.
As the restore began, I noticed a screen that I think was something to do with TWRP - I noticed that the words WIN.... were in the title and here was a recovery message. The screen was made up of blue graphics. The reset continued but without anything else loaded, Sky Go still said I was rooted. I can only assume that at some point during the root and un-root, the ROM was flashed with this other tool and it is this that is being detected by Sky Go. Am I right?
So, I would really appreciate some assistance as to how to get back to un-rooted stock ROM with no extras!
Any help gratefully received!
Thanks
Maybe just use something like this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marutian.quickunroot
that's probably the solution for an app that doesn't work on a rooted device (I have the same issue with a local dutch tv provider app, solved with the mentioned app)
The other option (since removing SU from your current rom kinda failed) is flashing a new ROM with TWRP, just find a zip file for a ROM without SU/root

Thanks - The Quick Unroot option doesn't work as it can't find an SU binary file - 'spose it's because it's not rooted!
I flashed a new ROM (using ODIN) but I think that the recovery screen mentioned before and which appears at the strt of the re-set has also been added to the ROM and is the only thing I can think of that's causing this.
More suggestions please!
So, I have been using the P780 for some time now and, after I started having some problems with it and having to reboot too often, I decided to root it to uninstall the bloatware and give root access to some programs.
Well, I started looking into it and noticed a thread tutorial just for that. It just happened to be for KitKat and I was still running Jelly Bean.
I decided to first update to KitKat using the Official Lenovo software from their support site.
I know I should have taken a backup before, but I guess I foolishly thought nothing would go wrong with an official updater.
...Nothing did, BUT: It updated to the 4.4.2 based VibeUI2.0 and as it happens it doesn't have google services....
So I tried installing them. I tried seemingly everything, but I just couldn't get them to work.
Eventually I just started looking for another ROM.
I tried installing a couple different ones, but none of them worked.
(Including both of the current working links for the ROW ROMs in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/general/stock-rom-lenovo-p780-official-stock-t2656441)
I tried multiple methods:
I used TWRP and tried to use the zip flash - no luck (One error I can't remember right now. error corrupted zip once. once there was no errors, but after booting it was just the same old VibeUI ROM so nothing had happened)
I tried using SP Flash Tool - It didn't find my phone (Yes, I did have my drivers installed)
I tried adb sideloading - didn't work (Can't remember the errors right now, but it did download the ROMs to the phone, they just didn't seem to install)
If anyone can offer any advice either on how to get the Google services working on the VibeUI ROM or how to install another ROM that has the google services, please do.
I might update this with the specific errors at some point, but I've been fighting with this damn phone for about 6 hours now and I'm about to collapse from stress, so I'll give up FOR NOW.
If u are rooted ,just find flashable Google apps(Gapps) for ur system type and flash through recoveries to make Google apps/services work.
Hi,
I have the same issue, actually gave up on the phone, but got play store working on the first Vibe UI, now with the update I am back to square one. Been reading forums for hours now without success. GMS Tool not working, says it won't install. Anyone with advice for a novice like me would help too.

anyone who need help with flashing a new rom pm me!
Dear Experts,
I wanted to update Google play services and Chrome on a Galaxy S3 phone.
I have done this many many times before. Now when I tap the .apk files,
I am immediately getting an error - 'App not installed'
Surprisingly - it happens for both Google play services and Chrome. I tried
another .apk file and it installed fine !!
I tried to free some more space in the Internal memory, I also went to wipe
the cache from the Recovery menu, but none of that helped and now I am
out of ideas! Please help me!
Many thanks!
The phone is the i9300 according to the Odin screen?

Yeah, I know the Gapps, as I have been flashing those on my Galaxy Note 3. But the S3 is perfect as it is and I am not planning on rooting it.
How do I get the checksum of the apk from the server ? I just thought, that the cause is a defective USB cable, because it's exactly those 2 apk's which I copied the last time. But just now I've tried another cable and unfortunately, the result is still the same
Please kindly provide a solution...
You no need root
Only flash custom recovery to force update google play service imo or reflash and use backuped data from google account (if you have).
I assuming, you dont have warranty void ?
For the second question use http://code.kliu.org/hashcheck/ and search md5,sha, ect.

Thanks for your reply! The phone has max. 2-3 weeks more warranty.
But just I don't feel like rooting it, because it's perfect as it is (except
for being very slow, but I guess with only 1 GB RAM this is no surprise).
4.3 is, in my opinion, the best looking Android version !! The next ones
are extremely ugly with the white background, round icons and iPhone
like on-off switches, really terrible!
Is it possible to flash a custom recovery without rooting ? I guess I need to use USB debug mode and Odin from PC ? On my other phone - I first
rooted it, then I flashed the latest TWRP with Flashify and it was a very
quick procedure.
Actually what mostly worries me - could the cause for Google play
services and Chrome failing to install be some virus/malware ? What
can I do in order to rule this out ?
Many thanks for replying and helping me with this issue.
If you use odin you no need root or usb debugging mode (dont know why people use that- its do nothing)
After you flash custom recovery, you may trigger knox (Triangle Away reset flash counter but not knox). You dont get virus without permission - never use antivirus (its bad for speed of phone).
You tried clean settings that apps ? Last hope - hard reset.
Yes, but somebody has installed quite a few apps and as far as I can see, everyting that popped on the screen has been agreed to :-/ This is why I'm afraid of malware

I did clear cache and clear data - still the same error
Get your specific versions of apks from apkmirror. They are copies of the genuine files. App not installed can be signature mismatch or signature conflict.
Beamed in by telepathy.

That's the core of the problem, as this is EXACTLY what I did. And on top of everything, it installed successfully on another Galaxy S3 !!! This is really baffling :-/ Something is definitely wrong...
Once in my g2, I wanted to remove the root I had (zip from superSU) to update to 6.0, but it turns out that I had put an app to the system (link2sd) and I wanted to reinstall a root to uninstall it before doing so. Use the first app that appeared in Google (Kingroot) and when I installed the phone was bricked at 100%, which could repair a video that formatted me up to the modem, and installing a non-upgradeable ROM of 5.0. Since that time I could not modify the phone in any way; I tried to install root and at the beginning it was good, then out of nowhere it would not let me open applications, then it would restart and bootloops. The same when installing a modified ROM or outside the 5.0 of Moto G2. Simply at first it works well, then apps do not work (such as configuration, file scanners) and apps from the play store or apk are not installed either, uninstalling an app had the same result as always: soft-brick. The only way to get it out of that state is to wipe the data, but this way every day makes the phone unusable. Try several custom ROMS too (AOSP Extended, and now Lineage) and nothing. Try bakuping the boot (with a custom rom installed, before these errors start to occur) and restore when bootloops / soft-bricks and nothing either. I'm looking for a definitive solution that does not involve putting Android 6.0 or lower, since this is very slow in this and well I need it to work. I listen to any suggestion in any way. :crying: :crying: :crying:

Like I said. I prefer to try another solution before doing anything like installing 6.0 or lower. Because I think that the basic firmware (?) Is damaged. But thank you anyways
A catalogue of errors I've been through to get this phone working.
I basically tried a custom rom, didn't like it, tried to go back to stock and been stuck in this limbo ever since.
I've managed (after 2 days of trying) to get into a stock rom now. Bootloader is still unlocked.
However, I fail the safetynet check, cts profile match false.
I've tried stock firmware, flashing in fastboot, you name it. Nothing seems to work.
I think part of the problem is while all this has been going on, my build number shows something very odd.
It shows,
8.0.0.046(0ECN)

Wtf is that? And no matter what I flash, that never changes. Is that a real build?
I was smart enough not to make a note of the original build details before I messed with it.
Any ideas? I'm so fed up with this, I really need Google pay working again.
All I want is to wipe everything out and put a stock proper image on this device and use it.
for me on 3 huawei phones (p9, p20 lite and honor 8) safety net isnt working all time. only when i rooted with magisk, then i got success message. without magisk all time are failed. Even clear stock flashed are failed.
adn about "8.0.0.046(0ECN)" see here : read post 4
Flash Magisk 16.4.
Also, it seems like it doesn't effect apps. Google Pay and Snapchat works fine even SafetyNet fails CTS profile.
