Do you use Health Apps on your phone and watch? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been exploring several watch faces in the last couple of weeks, and I found that over 95% of watch faces come with health related info like step counter, heart rate, distance walked, etc by default. Some app developers swear by these health related data so much that they are a permanent element of their watch faces and cannot be changed if the user desires. These designs clearly show how much importance these developers themselves attach to the health and fitness data on their smartphones and smartwatches.
Personally, I think that these devices and apps are still very far from providing reliable info, and features like an app reminding oneself to drink water are totally absurd. Instead of using human faculties for understanding our own bodies, we are moving in a direction where we would eventually become completely dependent on technology to tell us how we feel, what our bodies need, etc. In other words, moving in the direction of disaster!
How many of you agree with my statement?

I need a professional DEV

I need to find a very good DEV who is available to work on a fairly large project.
I am a disabled yet still serving soldier, who has a need for a specific app. This app will help millions of people and I DO plan to market it to both VETS and
NON Vet disabled persons (as well as anyone else who wants it!) Vets will of course have either a free or reduced price option.
You will be required to know every aspect of a project DEV to include the GUI, images, background, visual aid, the Database, it has to "share" and export to several mediums including googleCal and Excel graphs. It may be built with a module style or have a lot of options that can be turned on or off. Some will be protected so it can't be turned off unless a password is entered depending upon the level of disability and functions needed per person.
I will expect a non-disclosure agreement. I have done the paperwork to protect my idea.
I will expect timely completion of phases as well as bug fixes. All of which I am very realistic about. We just need to be in daily or even hourly communication if needed.
This is a long term project that can lead to a permanent type of side job for all the ongoing updates/changes.
I need to get this moving while I am still able to keep track of what I actually need it to do. Your development skills will be instrumental in getting this up and running. You will have full liberty to do the app as you see fit as long as it meets the needs and has the ability to do each task I need. I really don't care how it is done as long as the outcome is correct. I have certain tasks that must be included, you are more than welcome to add your ideas as well.
Payment is of course Negotiable as either upfront or a portion of future income from sales, or possibly both. This will be agreed upon in writing for everyones safety, but this will really be more of a friendly work together type of environment.
Please msg me or reply here for more details.
(Mods, if this is is the wrong category, I apologize. Just move me and I will learn my lesson!)
Must have placed this in the wrong area! I can't seem find a good developer in the entire world that wants to take on a very lucrative (possibly like all good ideas are) project??
Wow Ok anyone know where I should look or post my "Programmer wanted" ad?
You would probably be better posting it in the developer forums rather than Q & A.
Good luck with your project!
All the best,
Ash

Friday: An Android app gives analytics for your life

Do you remember what you did in Las Vegas? Probably not, but Friday does. Happen to recall where you were when you took the picture of your friend laughing so hard that they blew Diet Coke out of their nose? Friday does.
Friday is an application that runs on your Android device. It runs in the background, keeping stock of everything that happens on your phone. You can think of it as a personal journal of your daily events, but we like to see it as analytics for your life.
Friday has access to a load of information, as such the permissions screen can seem a bit daunting, but you have to realize that what you’re asking it to do is essentially keep track of every single thing on your phone. Once you give it permission, it will take a few minutes to dig through your history and then provide you with a dashboard insight of everything from emails to photos and even meetings that you’ve had.
What’s interesting is that not only does it provide you an in-depth view of your life, it also links directly to the applications on your phone. So if you want to pull up the location information, you’ll see pins stuck into a Google Maps representation that will show you exactly what happened and where. Took a photo? That will be tagged, too.
Essentially, Friday gives you the ability to “forget to remember”. As tied as we all are to our mobile phones, it’s a very interesting way to keep your memories handy. Looking back, even over the short amount of time that I’ve had my present phone, Friday has pulled in a wealth of information and I’ve already used it to look up things that I would have otherwise forgotten.

Highlight Softening and Voice Training - making use of Actors' Methods For Community

Many expressive and behaving instructors train their pupils to colour their sounds. Like music devices, we people have numerous amounts that our words can do. Our words is our guitar and we could make our voices really vibrant, if our voices are used by us correctly. Music devices have distinctive and numerous amounts including resonance, quantity, and message. Resonance, quantity, and message are several parts that are used to create our voices vibrant. Understanding how to colour our sounds might help a room is charmed by us, too as reduce particular features. We often overlook to colour our sounds because we are so dedicated to the generation of the terminology we are studying, when we are studying another language.
How do we select which colour is good for our voice? Have you actually had a discussion with somebody and it appeared as if their voice didn't match their body's picture? Or their words was uncomfortable and intolerable to listen too? Vocal quality : Message, volume, resonance, and proper frequency for age and sex are essential parts to find the right colour of our words.
Grown - ups should not sound when talking like they're young kids. Performing these : do, beam, me, fa, la, ti, doe in different amounts till you come to some sound that's most comfy for you, without pushing or large quantity is one of the ways your true vocal color can be found by you. Once you have finished this evaluation and are confident with your new expressive variety, the next thing would be to obtain an honest viewpoint from a buddy you can trust.
Recall your words is your guitar, sometimes; your voice might be what "brings home the bread". Therefore as this could have a harmful and damaging effect on your expressive performance, you may not need to misuse or wrongly use your words in any manner.
Several stars might have perfected the skill of executing but are provided for expressive instructors to understand how to colour their sounds. On the planet of behaving, it's "what" and "how" you state this; that gets the audience's interest. Understanding how to release pressure is one of many methods stars use to maintain their sounds vibrant. Several stars use the muscles to be relaxed by this technique within the neck and face region. Some actors register in Yoga courses to release pressure within their muscles. Yoga improves the consciousness of your thoughts, human body, and spirit. Meditation and Yoga assists us get in updated with your bodies. Learning how to relax the mouth, tongue, face, are also methods that may help in softening accents or reducing accents, some stars use chanting to achieve this aim. Chanting can also be a great way to utilize to alleviate an accent and it is really a type of rest for many individuals. You might seek a speech-language pathologist, sung, or behaving trainer but make certain the instructor you seek in assisting you colour your words has expertise. Nevertheless, if you would like to lessen your emphasis, you should consult a speech-language pathologist. Keep your singing cords lubricated by consuming the recommended quantity of water. You should drink, please check with your physician if you don't understand the suggested quantity of water. Keep in mind before a performance, you need to not drink or consume any milk products. Journal products often raise mucus and mucus has an adverse effect on an expert loudspeaker or singer's operation. To find more, and to obtain additional information, see here.

Fit 2 Watch Face Ideas...

It's great to see some growing interest in creating new watchface designs. I see new entries via he Gear app every week.
There seems to be:
- A focus on surfacing every possible function that the Fit 2 provides on most watchfaces. This results in some really busy designs, driving the point size of the activity values to ever decreasing sizes. It's not just my aging eyes that have a hard time reading many of these values, but even when I am wearing glasses (I correct to 20/15) these values are nearly impossible to read when exercising. Sometimes displaying everything, because you can, is not the best design decision.
- A lack of functionality that allows the user to select what activity values are displayed. Maybe this is a limitation of Samsung's dev tool kit?? If so, then that explains it. If not, it sure would be great to disable values that I would never want to see, such as Water and Caffeine - even Calories is useless for me. I realize this is personal, but that's why I ask the question about customization.
As I said in another thread, maybe it's best for me to just get the dev tool kit and create something for myself.
I agree. I finally hit that age where I need to wear readers for smaller text. None of the watch faces allowed me to view them without the readers. So, I did download the watch face designer and created my own. I have two that I go back and forth on. Both have large font for the time/steps/battery so I can see them while i'm exercising or just walking.
I just released a minimal large font watchface free in the store right now, might be to your liking.

Some of them are definitely too busy so I decided what I wanted to see on my watch face and then created my own (still pending Samsung approval to be listed in the store). It leans toward the small but more functional side.

I'm pretty new to this, but the Gear Watch Designer (GWD) doesn't allow one to select activities on the watch itself as far as I could find. The Samsung-made watch faces have the Stylize button to select colors and such and I can't even figure out if that's possible in GWD. One can't even select 12hr/24hr on a watchface, let alone activities. It would be a good idea though.

It's not really that hard to do. Samsung has a pretty good tutorial on their site. If you don't plan on submitting to their store, it's even easier.
Having said that, once I get Samsung to approve my current submission, I plan to make others (all free of course) and I wouldn't mind making one for you. What sort of concept do you have in mind? Activities needed, etc. This kind of stuff is a fun hobby for me and a way to give back to the XDA community.
Coal:
Thanks for the offer. When I get some time, I am going to dive in myself. I might start with something like the Black Modern by minimin, but I'd make it more readable.

Yes, that one is mine. was my first watchface and I tried to make match the request of 2 posts I saw on a different thread before you guys posted.
I plan to make more and do requests after we finish moving to our new home. Not sure if anyone is actually buy this device though. My next watchface I'm going to see about adding a pseudo flashlight button.

Hi Coal,
I've just started to make my own watch faces too for the GF2. Here is a comment from the Samsung Developers Forum on how to create a Stylize/change colors at least...
The first issue I've had is using an example as a template then activating the "Always on Display" view. When I uploaded my watchface to my GF2 it would cycle through the "layers" of my watch face then resort back to a pre-loaded Samsung watch face. So now, I just do not try and add that feature in... Good Luck! I may upload something after I practice a LOT more!

"Weight Training" feature on AmazFit watches?

Lot of articles mention it, but I have not seen what it looks like anywhere nor has any "weight training" person made a How To / opinion piece about it - in writing or video or Screenshots.
So, can someone please share?
In amazfit stratos 3 you have "indoor fitness" and this activity I use to monitor weight training.
I attached what you can check in real time during workout and workout summary. If you need more info just ask .
in GTR/GTS it was renamed to "free style"
Don't expect anything special, it only tracks time and HR so it can estimate the calories burned, same as the old Elliptical mode. At least S3 lets you separate the training in groups, what can be useful if you can differentiate or name them somehow...

ACtually, there is a lot to be expected. I expect to be able to make my own custom program which the watch will guide me trough by the press of a button. Because some time i forgot wheter or not i made 4 instead of 3 sets of any given exercise.
Basically i need it to count the number of sets per exercise i pre-programmed already. I am given example.
Lets say monday i have training consistent of chest, triceps, front delts. I want to be able to pre-program that i am going to do 2 exercise for chest each consistent of 4 sets. 2 exercises for triceps each consistent of 3 sets. 2 exercise for front shoulders - 2 sets each.
So it will look something like this
"Monday training":
CHEST
4 sets
4 sets
TRICEPS
3 sets
3 sets
FRONT DELTS
2 sets
2 sets
From there on - is just a press of a button to cut break and start next set/exercise. Just looping trough the training continuously.
Then i will know what my pulse was in specific set of specific exercise.
That would be a game changer
Then lets go a step further - what we can do is after each set is done - the app asks you to manually integrate what weight you used this set or at least how many reps were you able to make that set. Which is perfect for tracking your overload and overall progress so you can make adjustments later.
What this custom workout layout should be consistent of is only:
A) Name of the workout
B) Number (and/or name) of exercises
C) Sets per exercise 1/2/3/4... etc
D) for perfection - after you hit the "back" button, after a set, which makes you go to "rest mode" - while you are resting it will prompt you to implement your weight for the current set and number of repetitions you managed to squeeze
OPTIONALLY:
1. If you want to stay in specific heart rate zone
2. If you want your breaks between sets to be predetermined (lets say 1.5 minutes) or by the press of the button
If they provide me a platform i can code it myself. It is not hard to do - and if they already made something like this "Indoor Fitness" then this one is just upgrading on top of it
wow, huge expectations, I don't know if any of smartwatches offer such support
but for me it is too complex, I prefer rather to train than click watch and monitoring continously time , I take breaks usually by the feeling and can remeber all sets an reps
however I can understand your point of view
in the other hand, if now huami developers cannot make simple things I can imagine how many bugs would be in such setup

It is very simple to code...
If you think that is not available in any other of the sport watches - then you probably missed to read my reply in the other thread that you replied right after me. But take a look of what i am talking about
-=GARMIN=-
Basically - this is even more complex than my expectations.
Here is another example of just part of the futures you get from Garmin
And btw - for you to say that this is to complex its like a runner saying he doesn't need all the futures like interval timing, steps per mile counter, etc... because "he just wants to run." and bassically he is not interested in other "gimmicks" the watch has to offer to actually follow his progress and make his experience more complete... as well as swimmers not benefiting from SWOLF ?
And when you have deadlift sessions like i do - which is why i refer to weight lifting not only fitness app - then you will see its pretty distracting when you rest between 6 to 10 minutes between sets and you are going after 10 sets for instance.
So when you train hardcore but not just casually then i am expecting certain futures from my "indoor fitness" or "weight lifting" apps. Basics. You cannot just put "GROUPS" because that is so unserious that you cannot believe something like FirstBeat technology is involved as a selling point for this watch.

Cheap garmins don't support that, in forerunner 35 for example, you can create activities but you can't use them on the watch. Anyways it would be great to have that in the watch, if I have time maybe I'll try to create an app that does that
If 8D motion detection chips are so common in all trackers, why are there not better Algorithms to be able to Muscle Training based movement tracking as they are doing for Cardio type of movements?

Mentioned above
Just tested samsung galaxy activity watch or whatever ...The thing has dedicated deadlift, biceps curls, pulldowns, bench press, and few more i couldn't test - but those were working exceptionally well... it was auto-counting reps, deadlift was not starting untill i get my hands down to my chin. How did they do that and watch is not even sport-dedicated ? It even had HAMSTRING CURLS, but i didn't dare testing else i was going to throw the S3 from the window

Better use of software / app to track its motion sensors. Not rocket science id think
