Hi, I have a Oppo Enco X2 with a S22 plus. I am trying without success to activate the LDAC codec (the buds support it) but it does not work. Is there a way to make it work? One guess is that the S22 plus does not support LDAC. Do you know how/if there is a way to solve this? Thanks a lot.
S22 supports LDAC. I have Sony WH-1000XM3 and I use the LDAC codec. Have you updated your Enco X2?
I have had to enable LDAC in Bluetooth menu. Settings->Bluetooth-> find your bt device -> click on the gear icon and enable LDAC support. You can albo try to force it in Developers Options -> find network group and check the LDAC i available under bluetooth sound coded (not sure, the english name of the option is proper).

greetings. Does the mediapad m5 support aptx or other high quality bluetooth codecs? Thanks!
"It does..." Well it's listed in the developer settings, however each time I enable one of them it reverts back to the default one... Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I could not get it working.
Also, keep in mind that wifi and Bluetooth don't work well together.
Yes it does, I like the sound from my m5 more than from s9, when it comes to Bluetooth performance. I played with s9 settings but couldn't come to the sound m5 gives via Bluetooth. Don't even know why they are sound so different.
Aptx and aptx HD are listed in the developers option. But I have no compatible devices to test it. I have a Sony AVR that has LDAC but it appears the M5 doesn't have LDAC codec integrated, even though it should be baked in Android Oreo.
thanks for your answers!
I have read the the device is support LDAC Bluetooth.
But when I change Bluetooth codec in developer setting to LDAC it got no sound. Testing with my fiio btr3 the indicator light change to white thae mean I using LDAC but got no sound.
The only codec that work is just sbc, aac and aptx.
Anyone know how to enable LDAC or just tell me that it not supported LDAC yet.
PS. When using the other codec it has worst quality than it should tho compare to my Nokia8. Why this happen?

Bluetooth speaker/device should support also LDAC. Not only the Smartphone that have a LDAC capability

i have the same issue. I have Sony wh-1000xm3 headphones. When i switched the LDAC codec. Sound just gone. Is anyone found a solution for this?
I search for it and found the samsung s9 s8 etc. phones have similar kind of problem. They have a solution for this. They just turn off the "dual audio" feature. But i cant find that setting in A3.

Same thing, @kaelthasxx. I'm also trying to setup my wh1000xm3 with the Mi A3 and there's just no way of making ldac work. Not to mention that using aptx gets me an awful quality. If I run a frequency response test I get a lot of crackling at frequencies around 17-20khz with aptx.
The best quality I managed to get out of this setup was using sbc, which is a shame since the headphones support all the way up to ldac.
I think this is some issue with the OS (I'm using the phone's native Android One), since in theory the BT soc of this phone should support these technologies. Hope they fix it for Android 10.
I had install custom rom and it work just fine. Can't wait for official release tho

What ROM are you using? The official one doesn't even support aptx properly (I get a lot of distortion using it with Sony's WH-1000xm3). Not sure if I should flash a custom ROM or pray for a fix in Android 10.
Anyone have a solution for this, just got some Sony Bluetooth cans for xmas and bow have same issue...
Is it confirmed fixed in Android 10 (ie a month or so factory fix all going well) or should I just go custom rom and fix it now (although the whole reason I went a3 was to get a stock Android device)
If I was to go rom route what's the suggested rom? I'm assuming a3 and a3 lite use the same base rom package?
Thanks to all in advance
G.
does anyone know if this problem has been solved with android 10?

I can't confirm for LDAC, but AAC doesn't work, it always revert to sbc. For now is better to try a custom as bluetooth codecs never worked for me.
here you go! was also waiting for long months to access any better then SBC...
A3 with A10 stock, April version + Sony XM3, latest app version
--> AptX is on!
checked developer settings and this confirms. AptX is shown on (its not AptX HD by the way). trying to select any better eg LDAC wont stick when return from setting, also no codec effect.
at least something... good luck guys!

Any update on this? How does the phone do with the latest firmwares?
(I plan to get Sony headphones)
Mi A3 with Android 11 here. No LDAC option, best is aptX but the WH-1000-XM4 dont support it so... best codec is AAC.
Hi, aptX bluetooth audio codec is now widely available on android, both devices (smartphone and headphone) must support aptx so that it can use the codec, however , there is no way to tell if the codec is actually in use But I searched a lot to find something and finally got my hand on an apk I extracted from sony xz3 stock pie rom , it shows a brief toast notification when the aptx codec is being used over bluetooth.
so I tried to copy the apk to my device (LG V30 stock pie) to this location >> system/app/AptxNotifier/ which was the original location on sony xz3 device (stock pie)
and changed permissions to 0644 and reboot
but it did not work it and I could no longer turn bluetooth on/off , but it can be reverted by simply deleteing the apk and everything back to normal
I can play around easily with apktool but I don't know what to edit
Is there a way to mod this apk so that it could work on my device ? any help would be appreciated
@Bronnel
AptX is an alternate Bluetooth audio codec from Qualcomm which aims to feature higher audio quality. You need a Bluetooth enabled device to pair with., what have a driver installed that sits on top of its Bluetooth stack. The mentioned APK - as it name implies - doesn't enable AptX: it simply notifies you whether AptX is in use or not. Just about all phones with the Android Oreo OS and higher support aptX HD which is really easy to activate.:
In Android -> Settings -> Developer Options select Audio Codec’. You will get a list of all the codecs your phone supports (including aptX HD). Now, simply select aptX HD, connect your (aptX HD-enabled) headphone and enjoy high-quality audio in no time.

thanks
I think you misunderstood me , I do not need to enable aptx , both my devices already support aptx , (LG V30 and my headphoone iDeadusa s204) and I already know that aptx is being used (because I easily notice the difference in sound quality) , what I want is toast notification to tell me that aptx is being used , this apk is doing just that but it needs to be modded so that it work on my V30, I hope I'm clear.
anyone out there to help with this?

you can test the file and see if it works, but you need root, root explorer, which device do you have? which firmware version?
Hi all -
Wondering if anyone had any idea if the Mate 20 Pro supports (or is meant to support) AptX Adaptive?
I haven't found any clear information online as to what the requirements are -- I'm pretty sure it doesn't require new phone hardware though. The listed aptX codecs in the developer options are aptX and aptX HD -- no sign of aptX LL or aptX Adaptive.
Hope someone can help make sense of this. I've just bought some B&W PX7s, and it would be nice to use them to their full potential.
Cheers
I am almost ready to pull the trigger on buying this phone but just wanted to be sure of the audio options first.
If I pair my BT headphones and go into developer options then I can set the Bluetooth codec to aptx. Does this mean that the phone supports this? I have seen reports that aptx is not available on Samsungs but this seems to contradict that.
If I have to go into dev options and enable it myself - that is fine.

In the dev settings, there are these options:
SBC (active for me)
AAC
aptX
LDAC
Scalable Codec
But I'm not sure if aptx works. I'm using SBC with the Buds+

I tried it with my Haylou GT1 Xr that supports aptX recently and it worked just fine. Looked under dev settings and aptX was showing as currently used codec. You should be fine.
