I recently bricked my tablet after having it rooted for a very long time...a Samsung-issued update apparently screwed with something crucial.
Anyway, I tried the nvflash recovery methods as mentioned in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130574
However, it seems that I have what they called a "locked" tablet. I get the 0x4 error he mentions and absolutely nothing happens when I send the command in nvflash.
Is there any update on this recovery method with locked tabs? I tried seeking paid services where they hook up devices to a JTAG and whatnot, but I've only seen that for the original Galaxy and not the 10.1--if you have any information about that route, that would help too.
Thanks!
you can try flashing a old rom if you can thats what i did and it worked for me

The thing is I can't flash to different ROMs or even get the Tablet to boot up into download mode...
go to recovery mode
I can't get into recovery mode too. All of the partitions are screwed, and the only way of reviving this device is by flash through the NVidia Recovery Console (nvflash). The thing is, my device is one of the lucky ones that are locked..Thus, it requires a special key to unlock it before I can do anything in nvflash.
I have no idea if this would work, but you could try it ...
A few months ago I was flashing a ROM on a friends phone and something went wrong, the phone wouldn't even boot up any more, the screen stayed blank all the time, no matter which combination of buttons I pressed of how long I held them down for. ODIN didn't recognise it being connected to the PC etc... nothing worked.
Then I tried hooking the phone to the PC again and tried to do something with adb. And somehow, the phone was connected on adb. Tried an adb restart-to-download command and after a minute or two, the phone booted up and I could flash through ODIN again.
I have no idea why it worked, but it did ... lucky me .
So while I doubt it will work, it might still be worth a try. And if adb connects in any way you could maybe figure what was wrong and somehow fix it?
I also heard about some phones being locked out in a similar way and a procedure in the lines of "take the battery out, hold down 3 buttons, slide the battery in WHILE STILL HOLDING the buttons" worked, maybe there's something similarly "hidden" on the tab?
I hope you find your answer!
Okay so my phone randomly rebooted 2 days ago and when it got to the LG logo screen it froze. I tried to hard reset it, i went in to the hard reset menu clicked yes once then confirmed the hard reset by selecting yes a second time and the phone froze on highlighted yes. I have pulled the battery and tried to do this multiple times to no avail. So next i went to my PC and started google searches. Often i found things such as being stuck in boot loop which my phone wasn't, it was just frozen at the LG logo screen. Regardless I like to think of myself as self educated tech savvy (which now from reading all of your posts im not, im not even a little bit, in fact im tech stupid.) I did follow post through to the LGUP tool and downloaded a stock KDZ and got my phone into download mode>firmware update screen, i was able to get al the correct drivers and get LGUP to recognize the device and i loaded the stock KDZ and tried to do a Complete wipe reinstall. The program as able to interact with my device and went through the process, i thought i had fixed my phone. After a fresh install(or what i thought was a fresh install) i rebooted after the update and went to the LG logo screen and froze. The only difference is now when my phone starts, right before the LG logo appears i get the green android robot with what looks like open working "guts" real quick before it goes to the Logo and freezes. So back to the drawing board and i wanted to attempt some of the things ive seen like TWRP recovery etc but here i am getting lost. Forgive me if im posting things that have been answered but i keep getting confused. I dont know what the difference is between fastboot boot loader recovery mode or any of that is. also i kept noticing time and time again that my phone has to be in USB debugging mode and i dont know if it is. I cant turn my phone on to get it into USB debugging mode now anyways. Im okay with my warranty being voided and im okay with rooting if thats what i have to do to make it work. I have installed ADB and fastboot and some twrp recoveries etc but im clueless. Lastly know that i never Rooted my phone or anything but i was a torrent downloader. forgive me im triyng to provide as much information as possible.
PLEASE NOTE - I had to sign up to post here obviously and i loved how it said if you have an IOS go buy an android and come back LOL

Hi guys, sorry if I posted this at the wrong place.
I have a Lenovo s860 and it went into a bootloop. It was stock and all so I thought that I can have my files recovered if I just bring it to a service center so they can get the files first before wiping it or maybe even fixing the bootloop without wiping the device. Well, the thing is, the guy at the service center screwed up and now, when I try to turn it on, I still see the boot screen (Lenovo, powered by Android) but the next screen is like an television with bad signal.
I'm familiar with rooting and flashing ROMs, I've tried it on my Galaxy S2 (yeah I know, it was way back), but I think things are still more or less the same: I need to be able to boot into recovery mode in order to root the device. However, when I tried the Power Button + Volume Up, or any combinations of the Power Button and the Volume Buttons, it just goes straight to the dead screen, I get no response whatsoever.
I also tried to check if adb can detect it, however, it didn't seem to be able to do so. I'm using a MacBook Pro so I know I don't have to install any drivers, I also code Android Apps so I have a background on this.
I think my only option would be to flash the ROM on this dead device but I don't know how to do that. I've also seen some posts that suggest doing some things (I forgot the specifics) while the battery is drained, so what I'm doing for the mean time is to leave the phone open and let it drain which might take ~2 days.
Does anyone know how to flash a ROM on a bricked device? Thanks for any leads.
Hello all, got a bit of a strange issue here. So I was using the 30b release from runningnak3d, https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/development/h901-t-mobile-nougat-v30b-twrp-t3639203
I was selling my v10, so I did a reset, skipped or hit next to everything, and verified that all was working. I sold the phone and a couple days after the buyer got it, he told me it was bootlooping. I asked what he did and of course the first time he said nothing, just turned it on. After more conversation, he said when he got it it booted and after a while told him an upgrade was available. He said he accepted the upgrade, and afterwards got the bootloop.
I got the phone back today to try to fix it and give it back to him. Here's what I have found. Definitely bootlooping, stops at T-Mobile logo and reboots. It does still have the unlocked bootloader, still shows the warning right at boot. TWRP is gone! I booted to recovery, answered Yes to those 2 questions, and it did a reset instead of loading TWRP.
I really have no idea what he did, whether is was an OTA update or maybe he tried to load something on his own.
So, is there any hope of getting this thing going again? So far I was able to boot it into download mode, but it won't respond to any fastboot commands. My computer detects it, but in computer management it says LGE USB modem or something like that. When I try to regular boot, the computer does detect the phone, but it doesn't get far enough along to issue ADB commands. I'm thinking it's a paperweight at this point, so I'm game to try whatever.
Hey guys, I've got a very weird problem with my phone which started just after I updated to MIUI 13.. It turns off by itself randomly.
It does it while browsing, texting, etc.. and even when locked. No matter if its charging or on battery. The only situation it doesn't turn off is when playing games, benchmarking or any other heavy task which is very weird as I thought the battery might be on its way out but it doesn't make sense if it works fine with heavy tasks...
The device is 3 months old but recently I replaced the display and the warranty is void now obviously, so I can't use that..
What I tried so far:
- Factory resetting, nothing changed
- Tried with the OEM safe mode, nothing changed
- I downloaded the same update again and flashed it throught the OEM recovery, nothing changed
- I'll try to make a clean install of the ROM when im able to unlock the bootloader which is of course after 7 days
Could it be a hardware issue and.. what it might be? The phone is working absolutely fine besides that random shut off - perfomance is the same, battery life is the same, no freezes ..nothing.
The other issue im experiencing and I've read alot about this is that my touch screen sometimes (rarely) is unresponsive. It just freezes, the phone is alright but I can't press on anything..
If it is software issue, how can I resolve it? Should I clean install the 13.0.4 rom or older?
edit.. i don't think it is actually shutting of but rather the display going black and unresponsive to any buttons as to restart it I must hold the power button more than 10 seconds
And also, I'm new to the forum, sorry if i posted this in the wrong section and excuse my bad english, I'm not a native speaker. Thank you
it's a firmware bug....do clean flash and pray it disappear..do fastboot clean flash

Thank you, I'll try when the bootloader is unlocked.. Meanwhile, I'm really worried about this being a result of the screen replacement? Could that be the issue? The screen works absolutely fine, keeps 90hz refresh rate, no glitches or artifacts.. Should I bring the phone back to the shop where I changed the display?
I confirmed that this is indeed a software bug. After factory reset, I kept the mobile data and wifi off so it can't update the apps and for 2 hours there were no signs of the problem UNTIL i turned the WiFi back on, the setup finished, updated the apps and my phone crashed in 10 mins. No idea which app causes this or why, but atleast its not hardware related. I'll try to reflash the 13.0.4 through OTA again and see if the problem persists.. If so, i wont have phone for the next 7 days because of the bootloader lock.. Thanks Xiaomi

flash with fastboot.. i think it's possible even locked..
Factory default and not restore apk, the problem could be any apk that did not work on miui 13.
Its not possible to flash with fastboot on locked bootloader. I tried several times it just refuses anything. I also couldn't manage to manually sideload OTA rom in recovery and I wouldn't risk it through the updater app because of the crashes..
I left my phone overnight with data turned off and it never crashed again.. I hope this get fixed after the clean flash because I really like MIUI13 and don't want to roll back
Same here. No any response from MIUI yet.

MIUI 13 Lockscreen Crash!
Hello guys, after I got my bootloader unlocked, i tried flashing several ROMs both china and EEA with MiFlash (clean all option) and it still crashes the phone randomly... I don't know what to do anymore. The only time phone can sit turned on without crashing is in fastboot and when booted but plugged in to computer (idk what is this about).. What should I do? I'll try to downgrade to 12.5 EEA stable with Mi Flash but is this clean install or should I do it with twrp?

Fastboot only
Im stuck in bootloop after downgrading to MIUI 12.5 EEA (the version i was on previously before miui13) via fastboot. The phone restarts after the boot logo and no matter which ROM i reflash it doesn't go beyond that.. Any advice? Tried factory resetting after flash but no result
Guys, no matter what I do, i cant bring the phone to life again. It reaches the MI logo, stays there for 10 seconds and screen goes black. I tried flashing EEA, Global, China, many versions all through fastboot. They flash with success, no errors at all but when rebooted it is stuck at the boot logo... Please help! I can still boot to stock recovery/twrp and fastboot. What can I do???
MiFlash log
I just tried the services of the telegram guy who does EDL flash over teamviewer. The flash finished with success but the same problem still persist and not only that, now It goes straight to fastboot without a chance to even boot in recovery...

Thats what I did, it never turned on until yesterday. A miracle happened and the phone booted but after 5 mins it crashed again... Wtf might be the problem with it. The only time it doesn't turn off is when its plugged to a computer with switched on debugging. I can't wrap my mind around it, are there any crash logs that I can read? Logcat doesn't show anything in help
please help me. after miui 13 ota update my phone is restarting every 10 seconds.
