So I'm trying to unlock my bootloader to root my phone with Magisk (which also patches VBmeta, which is important for me to do). Originally the OEM unlock option was not appearing in my phone's settings, but I fixed that with the date hack (set the phone's clock to 2022-05-01 instead of 2022-08-05). But now when I reboot into the first stage of download mode, the option to unlock the bootloader does not show up, it just has the option to reboot, enter download mode, or show the barcode. When I enter download mode, the KB status shows as ACTIVE. The CSC I'm using is BTU and I'm on the latest CVG2 firmware of Android 12 (OneUI 4.1).
Any ideas?
Anything?
Make sure that USB debugging in developer options is enabled.
Turn off your device.
Hold volume up and down buttons and keep holding them.
While holding them, connect your smartphone to a PC using USB cable.
There will be a warning message.
"... to continue press volume up ..."
Don't just press volume up button, but keep holding it.

Yeah I do that and the unlock bootloader option doesn't show up. Pressing and holding volume up goes into download mode, as described in the original post...

Ah Ok, I see I misunderstood your question. I assumed you asked me can you flash firmware from another region on U.S. variant devices because you quoted my post where I mentioned the U and U1 variants.
So yeah, any region can be flashed on SM-A526B as long as it's the same model.

I'm assuming this question was asked because you weren't getting the option to unlock the bootloader in download mode. Probably the date code wasn't working properly. What I suggest doing is flashing stock firmware with Odin. Completely wipe the phone. Then when you're setting up the phone for the first time, connect to a WiFi network on the setup screen. I've noticed that sometimes OEM Unlock gets bugged when this is skipped and it seems that topjohnwu also caught on to this because he explicitly includes it in his installation instructions of Magisk
Quote from Magisk Installation on Samsung devices:
Go through the initial setup. Skip through all the steps since data will be wiped again in later steps. Connect the device to Internet during the setup.

topjohnwu mentions Internet during the setup but I think it's worked for me better when I connect to a Wi-Fi network.
So after completely wiping the phone with Odin I suggest you connect to WiFi on setup and then check your developer settings again. Hopefully, OEM Unlock will be there without the need to do the date trick.

Well, that warranty repair took longer than expected. I can now report that I am still facing the same issue. I tried setting it back up while connected to WiFi (speed shouldn't be an issue, I get gigabit speeds and on WiFi I've seen 400mbps).
After checking the bit in the download mode menu, seeing that there is no `unlock bootloader` option, and then booting into Android again, the setting just disappears again, after having enabled it before shutting the phone down.
Any ideas?

This is really strange, but I just wanted to add that I'm a U1 US variant owner that was just now looking into rooting and I came across this thread.... before even trying anything I'm already noticing I too have no OEM unlocking option in my dev settings. Really odd. I guess there's the very remote possibility my BL is already unlocked as I bought it used off eBay but I doubt it. I've run several OTAs so that seems very unlikely lol.
For me root is only desired to run Viper4Android so I'm not even 100% sure I want to bother with that now if it's going to be that steep an uphill battle.
---Edit--- Sorry, nevermind I'm dumb, the U1 Us models just aren't BL unlockable. Saw in another thread. All I want is root though, I don't need to flash roms or TWRP usage. Anyone know if that's still doable?

Hello everyone,
I want to unlock boot loader on my LG G PAD IV 8 (V533).
I did the OEM unlock in setting of developer options, But I couldn't reboot to bootloader and fastboot mode.
I tried:
1) adb reboot bootloader -> it reboots normally
2) Volume down and power and release power and hold all keys down --> IMEI display
3) Hold volume Up and connect USB --> Download mode (no fastboot)
4) Volume down and power and release power and hold back power --> factory reset
How can I enter to fastboot mode on this device so I can unlock the device? I don't find the key combination.
Thanks
Did you fimd any imfo on this yet???

Hi,
Looks like the Canadian variant of the LG GPad IV 8.0 is unrootable or unable to unlock the bootloader. However, the US T-Mobile variant (V530) which is essentially the same specs, is rootable according to other XDA post https://forum.xda-developers.com/g-pad-x-80/how-to/guide-root-lg-g-pad-v530-newbies-t3901485
Should any new info come up regarding this variant, feel free to post it here. Thanks
I just flashed 8.1 with a Korean kdz. onto an LG-V533 using LGUP Dual Mode. Next I will see about recovery, but for now pleased with the results. I got tired of searchig for American firmware with identical hardware.

Did you simply use the LGUP Dev mode and flash the Korean kdz onto the V533 or did you modify anything somehow? Would like to try it but not familiar with flashing LG devices, only ZTE and HTC
That's correct. I am going from memory here, but i know i did not make any alterations of any kind prior. It will repartition the device and i'm not certain if you can revert.
I did it for a friend and it works well. You'll wind up with a few weird Korean apps. The ones you can't uninstall just use adb or app manager.
I am pretty sure the selection i used was "download" and it gave a warning about repartitioning. So obviously i did it. I think it froze during initial boot. I recall waiting far too long and just force rebooted and all was well. I am much more comfortable flashing a Motorola or Samsung myself. I've cross flashed a few Lg's now and they seem to work well.
Even though i spend a lot of time making sure it can work, you may get different results. Make sure it's charged good. I learned that one already. Let me know how it goes!
After your cross-flash, 3g/lte works? Your IMEI remains the same as original IMEI?
Thanks.

By this do you mean your IMEI remained the same (original IMEI)?
I would like to cross-flash in order to unlock the bootloader, then install TWRP. Thank you. Could you give more details about
(1) Your original model. I assume it was LG-V533 Canada Rogers or Telus.
(2) After cross-flashing, the model changed to ...? Have you tried "adb reboot bootloader" . Inside bootloader: "flashboot oem unlock"?

Hello
Does anyone have any active custom rom links/tutorials for V533 and V497? seems all online are down or gone? Thx
Hi!
New here, hope I am in the right place...I have limited tech skills (born pre cell phones and computers) I did manage to install a custom ROM on an old HTC years ago, and thought I could do it again!
I have a Samsung A10e (SM-A102U) locked to sprint.
I can get the developer options but can't get the OEM unlock option. I also can't wait 7 days. Have tried a few things with the date and turning off updates etc, nothing worked. Here is what I am trying to do in order (please correct me if it is the wrong order) Ultimately I want my phone unlocked for use with any sim, and install a custom rom, to remove some bloatware. Could I wipe the phone totally take it to a piece of memory with no ROM and then re-load it, or use ADB to do it? Please excuse my ignorance - if I sound clueless I kinda am!
1. Unlock the bootloader
2. Install TWRP
3. Install custom ROM
It has taken me days of searching but to no avail, literally pulling my hair out. Happy to buy a beer for anyone that helps!
Wow,thanks...
Response has been overwhelming...

I have the exact same question.
it will not happen alot of us based carriers will lock down the phone via bootloader our best option is to find combination firmware and hopefully find root that way assuming that method still works.
Same situation here with Verizon. And sorry to tell you but I don't think anything will happen for you after seven days either, at least nothing did for me. I've spent a long time trying to get past this with no success, trying every trick I've found (the changing the date manually trick, factory resetting and trying on WiFi, etc.).
Also, using the app "Settings Database Editor," I've found the config/property where OEM bootloader unlock has been disabled:
"sys.oem_unlock_allowed" "0"
Screenshot here.
I'm hoping maybe we can edit that property via ADB or something. I'm not really holding out any hope here though. :-/
One other random discovery (not really helpful or relevant for our OEM bootloader unlock goal, but something I discovered while trying to obtain unlock): I believe I discovered a firmware error (at least on the Verizon build). When you hold volume up + power together for about 30 seconds, the phone shows the recovery menu for a split second but then instantly/immediately wipes all data and factory resets, without ever allowing the user to choose their own recovery menu selection and without giving any reset confirmation prompt before instantly wiping all user data. It's not supposed to work that way, according to the phone's user manual/Samsung technical support instruction. It's actually really pissed me off because I've triggered this instant reset twice now by accident just by having the phone in my back pocket and sitting down. I go to pick up my phone from my pocket and notice the screen is on and then discover everything was wiped. Very annoying! I called Samsung customer support twice to try to explain that I believe there to be a firmware error present (at least on Verizon models) but they didn't seem to care/their support script told them to have me take the device to some local authorized third-party screen repair place. One good outcome I've discovered from factory resetting the phone is that you can at least avoid enrolling the phone in part of the Knox security crap, the "kme" protection. I originally couldn't use remote apps like TeamViewer or AnyDesk without some stupid "Protected by Knox" notification popping up and then my remote app instantly exiting. Made me so angry. But now I'm able to use those apps without any issue. Though, the phone does try to have me agree to enroll in kme protection or whatever about once a day and I have to manually close the enrollment agreement form that pops up.

No matter about root. but I converted many of Samsung A10e to international variant to remove any boost metropcs or any other networks bloatware application.
you can also do it without any issue. Simply flash A102U1 Firmware. I m not sure that it will work on Network Locked/Sim locked devices. I flash and convert it after using a remote unlocking service which already changed the CSC version of EFS to XAA from the BST csc...
XAA is for US Unlocked Without carrier locked phones and BST for Boost mobile carrier only which came with lots of boost bloatwares but maybe that A10e boost remote unlock service saved me.

I have the same phone that I just bought and (sheepishly) just found out has wi-fi calling disabled by AT&T. That was a main reason for getting it, but unfortunately I went by the Sonim website's info and not AT&T's regarding that feature. Verizon's version has it enabled, but it's also much scarcer on the secondary market. The XP5800 doesn't seem to be a popular phone for tinkering judging by the lack of info on doing so.
Does anyone know if wi-fi calling could hypothetically be activated by rooting and then toggling some values, or is it more likely that the involved code was omitted entirely? I saw something to the former about tethering.

Each Android can get rooted by means of SuperSU ZIP. Only requirement is to have successfully USB debugging option enabled in Android->Settings->Developer options. You install this ZIP via phone's stock recovery.
To access developer mode, google "developer mode sonim xp5s". Open article: kb.eschat.com "Open Developer Options Tab on Sonim XP5, XP5s or XP3...". The device will then open the Developer Options tab. Ensure the take bug report option is enabled, and that USB debugging is also enabled. You may also add a menu button to the Power tab for future access to this feature.
Be sure you use a clean SuperSU ZIP to avoid malware. Suggest getting one from the xda forum.

North American Samsung models have not had user-unlockable bootloaders for years. That's just how it is.
If you want an unlockable model, buy an international version
Thanks may just do that
Have you tried to use fastboot oem unlock?

Samsung models don't have fastboot mode. And even on the models that do, the command is no longer "fastboot oem unlock"

International model numbers end in B, F, FN, G, H, N, or 0
North American model numbers end in A, AZ, P, T, T1, U, U1, V, or W

I have A025FXXS2BUF1
is this international version .... please help me bcz I unlock bootloader and after root ... I fash stock firmware and unroot and lock bootloader how to unlock again...bcz oem unlock not showing in dev options
You say that the North American variant is not unlockable. But yet I have an unlocked bootloader. It tells me when I go into developer options and see the grayed out OEM unlock. Just underneath. It says "bootloader already unlocked". To achieve unlocking the bl. I I've had to press the side keys. I can't honestly tell you if it was all three keys or two keys. But it definitely involved holding the keys on the side of the phone. And you have to do it as the phone is booting up. As soon as you push the power button you hold the keys I think it might be all three keys.

This has also happened to me. I flashed stock rom to unbrick my A02sm that I was attempting to install a custom rom on, I used the exact same stock rom as before but now the OEM unlock simply doesn't exist and I've tried every solution I've found so far, yet nothing worked.

Samsung A02s(SM-A025F)
I do these steps any body help
1.I unlock oem through developer option
2.I unlock bootloader successfully
3.I downloaded firmware and patch AP with magisk to root
4.I flash Patched AP
5.After getting my phone rooted successfully I want to install TWRP Recovery
6.I downloaded unofficial version of TWRP from xdaforums....
7.I followed the steps guided here
The steps are as follows
1.reboot to boot loader and flash vbmeta_disable.tar
2.Put TWRP tar in AP and flash
3.Reboot to recovery
4.Disable encryption
Go to Advanced >Terminal : type "multidisabler"
5.Go back to wipe>Format Data>type "yes"
6.Reboot system
This is my first experience to root and flash TWRP.... but after that when I reboot my phone got lock .... only official binaries allowed to be installed....and stuck there
I got frightened so I locked my bootloader
But nothing happens...
I downloaded stock firmware and flash.....now my phone works perfectly But I want to root my phone I searched and found a correct way to root but now oem unlock option is not found in developer options....
I watched hundreds of videos on yt and searched a lot on Google but
found no proper solution.....someone tell me to wait 7 days....
In about phone> phone status>uptime
Uptime should be equal to 7days... then oem unlock option will appear but ...... I want another solution date change and WiFi connect is not solution ... If any body knows any other solution please guide me ... I'll be very thankful.....
@ladlabaloch512
Perhaps your device has the same "OEM unlock" block like mine.
On mine I was supposed to wait 7d after turning on dev options.
I bypassed that by
1. switching to airplane mode
2. Setting manually date back one month
3. Restart (still in airplane mode)
4. Turning off airplane mode and let it sync date
and voila OEM unlock option was there.
Perhaps that works on your device as well.

Keep us updated.. I'd like to get my OEM unlock to come out of hiding.. this is frustrsting.. i see all these tutorials for the A02s root, twrp and ROMs and whatnot and I'm itching to get flashing!
Is it possible to flash an unlocked carrier firmware in ODIN and then be able to unlock OEM? Without carrier issues or anything? I'm a little nervous to be the first to try.. and not sure where to find US unlocked carrier firmware or if location even matters... I have the SM-A025AZ (US Cricket variant).. I guess as long as Download Mode (fastboot) is still accessible I could just flash the Cricket version back to the device.. bricked my LG-E980 back in the day.. took me a few months how to get it back up and running with LG flash tool.. i just dont want to repeat that fiasco lol... so anybody got any updates on hacking this OEM (un)lock bs??? Or any idea on flashing some other variant to the device without interrupting carrier stuff??.. seems like alot just to get a damn virtual switch to turn on.. but damnit I need root access! Lol.. about to just exchange this phone for an actual rootable phone.. i disagree with charging for hotspot.. that should be illegal.. getting charged twice to use th same bs internet.. eff that.. i just want Rooooooot!!!
Hello,
I have also been having these troubles, with no way to unlock oem after stock flash, and the closest I've got to finding a solution was this, but I simply cannot find samsung's bootloader unlocking form like it says in the guide. I bought my phone just for a bootloader unlockable version (A025M), and now I am very angry at samsung.
also, since over a 1000 hours have gone by since last post, have any one of you solved this issue just by waiting?

its not only samsung that does this, many other companies like motorola does this. Dont be angry, just try a different device. Also, snapdragon US models (i dont think) arent able to be unlocked. If its a mediatek model and isnt sim/carrier locked, u can try MTKClient
